MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR TWO WEEK OLD 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER PLATINUM EDITION WITH MY FOUR YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DISABLED. THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED AND THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE LOCAL NISSAN DEALER. I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT THE COOLANT LINE BURST AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED FROM THE VEHICLE. AS A "PRECAUTION" THEY WILL BE REPLACING THE RADIATOR, TRANSMISSION LINE (S), AS WELL AS THE TRANSMISSION ON THE VEHICLE BEFORE RETURNING IT TO US. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND RADIATOR DID NOT GET AFFECTED BUY THE INCIDENT AND THAT THEY ARE REPLACING THOSE PARTS AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND LEARNED THAT A NUMBER OF OTHER 2013 PATHFINDERS HAVE SUFFERED FROM THE SAME CATASTROPHIC ISSUE. I ALSO LEARNED THAT PREVIOUS GENERATIONS OF THE PATHFINDER HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WHICH NISSAN WAS VERY SLOW TO ACKNOWLEDGE. WHEN A VEHICLE THAT IS TRAVELING AT A MODERATE TO HIGH RATE OF SPEED LOOSES TRANSMISSION THE DRIVER BECOMES AT RISK FOR A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE DRIVEN AND IN OUR CASE MY WIFE WAS SAVED BY A AAA EMPLOYEE WHO WAS KIND ENOUGH TO PUSH HER CAR OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THESE CARS NEED TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO DRIVES THIS VEHICLE PLEASE TELL THEM TO TAKE IT TO THEIR NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT IMMEDIATELY. I AM CONVINCED THIS IS GOING TO REQUIRE A RECALL. THE NIGHT OF SATURDAY JANUARY 19TH, 2013, ONE MONTH AND A HALF AFTER I PURCHASED MY "NEW 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER," IT WAS IT!!! I THOUGH THAT WE WERE PUTTING THE WRONG TYPE OF GAS IN IT, BUT NO!!! WE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS "RUNNING OUT OF GAS MOVEMENT" FROM A $40,000 VEHICLE WITH ONE OF THE BEST MARKETING PROMOTIONS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THE 21ST OF JANUARY, AND THE ONLY RESPONSE FROM GENERAL MANAGEMENT WAS " OH!... WE ARE SO SORRY, BUT WE DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S GOING ON HERE...IT LOOKS LIKE A TRANSMISSION MODULE, BUT WAIT... NO, THAT'S NOT IT... WE ARE INCOMPETENT!!! SO... HERE I AM, PAYING FOR A LOAN WITH A BROKE BRAND NEW SUV IN THE SHOP WITH A SAFETY STALL HAZARD!... DID I FORGET TO MENTION THAT'S A FAMILY CAR!!!! *TR
AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. *TR
WE BOUGHT A NISSAN PATHFINDER 2013 BRAND NEW FROM NISSAN DEALERSHIP. AFTER 2 MONTHS ,SUV TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING OCCURRED . WE CONTACT THE DEALER SHIP AND MANUFACTURING PEOPLE THEY REPLACED (OCTOBER. )TRANSMISSION TO REFURBISHED . DECEMBER 2013 SAME THING HAPPEN BUT TOOK IT AGAIN TO SAME DEALERSHIP WORKSHOP, THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING. ASKED US TO GET USED TO DRIVING THIS SUV. BUT IT'S BEEN GOING ON. FINALLY WE TOOK IT AGAIN TO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT THIS FROM, THEY FOUND SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUE . NISSAN MANUFACTURING & DEALERSHIP FIGHTING THEIR BEST TO NOT TO REPLACE A NEW CAR OR NEW TRANSMISSION . ONLY REFURBISHED TRANSMISSION AND IT WON'T COME WITH EXTENDED WARRANTY. CURRENT MILES ON THE SUV IS 15,821.. WE REALLY HATE TO BE THEIR GINNY PIG WITH THIS SMALL KIDS. REASON I'M WRITING THIS TO YOU CAUSE, WE ARE REALLY FRUSTRATED, NOT SAFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE WITH SMALL KIDS. I HAVE 5 YEAR OLD AND 6 MONTH OLD AT HOME. WHEN I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE I'M SCARED AND PRAY BEFORE WHEN WE GO ANYWHERE AND WE ARE UNCOMFORTABLE DUE TO BACK SHUDDERING PROBLEM (LOOSING POWER) . ADDITIONALLY, THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK WHILE SHIFTING GEARS ON SEVERAL SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000. *TR
I WAS AT A STOP LEAVING AN APARTMENT COMPLEX. I ENTERED A BUSY ROAD AND WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, THE RPM'S ROSE BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND THEN HIT THE GAS AGAIN BEFORE IT STARTED TO PICK-UP SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. *JB
PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF (INDICATING AIR BAG IS NOT OPERATIONAL) WHEN WIFE SITS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. HER WEIGHT AND HEIGHT IS ~115LBS AND 5'5". TAKEN TO DEALER 3 TIMES AND NOT ABLE TO FIX. THE DEALER CHECKED VIN AND THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE NISSAN RECALL. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED 1/9/2013 AND CLEARLY FALLS WITHIN THE MANUFACTURING DATE OF THE RECALL. I OR THE DEALER WERE NOT INFORMED. FIRST, NISSAN SHOULD EXPAND THE RECALL TO ENCOMPASS ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES AND SECOND NISSAN NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS FOR THE DEALER TO REPAIR. 1ST ATTEMPT: ZERO OUT SENSOR AND REPROGRAM. 2ND REPLACE SENSORS. 3RD INVESTIGATE PROBLEM WITH NISSAN TECH SERVICES AND THEY COULD NOT HELP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I DON'T HAVE A LOT OF CONFIDENCE THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD WORK WHEN THE LIGHT IS OUT. *TR
MY PATHFINDER HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES TO CORRECT THE NHTSA RECALL 14V-138 THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED IN SPITE OF TWO RECALLS. WHEN SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT (AN ADULT WEIGHING 140LBS) THE OFF INDICATOR STILL IS ACTIVATED INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG IS SHUT OFF. I CAN REMAIN OFF FOR OVER AN HOUR WHILE DRIVING. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE INSPITE OF BEING TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE AIR BAG WILL DEPLOY EVEN IF IT IS OFF. THIS MAKES ME MORE WORRIED BECAUSE WHAT IF THERE WAS A PERSON TOO LIGHT AND IT SHOULD BE OFF????? *TR
I PURCHASED MY BRAND NEW 2103 NISSAN PATHFINDER DECEMBER OF 2012. I NOTICED WITHIN THE FIRST COUPLE WEEKS THAT THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH WOULD NOT GO OUT IF I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE VEHICLE AND I WAS BUCKED UP. SO I TOOK IT IN TO SERVICE IN EARLY JANUARY TO DEAL WITH A DEFECT IN THE LEATHER AND THEY SAID THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE LIGHT AND THAT WAS HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO WORK. SO EVERYTHING WAS FINE FOR ANOTHER MONTH WHEN THE CAR STARTED BLOWING SMOKE. SO I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AGAIN AND THIS TIME A DIFFERENT DEALER RECOGNIZED THAT THAT WASN'T HOW THE CAR SHOULD BE WORKING SO HE SAID THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT. SO A COUPLE DAYS LATER AFTER PARTS WERE SENT OVERNIGHT THEY CALLED AND SAID THAT MY VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICKUP. I PICKED THE PATHFINDER UP AND SURE ENOUGH THE SEAT BELT LIGHT WENT OFF WHEN I GOT IN BUT NOW I HAD AN AIRBAG FAILURE LIGHT ON THE DASH. SINCE IT WAS THE END OF THE DAY THEY ASKED ME TO BRING IT BACK IN THE NEXT DAY. SO AFTER ANOTHER VISIT TO NISSAN THEY HAD TO CALL THE TECH LINE BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. LONG STORY SHORT THEY SENT ME AWAY WITH MY BROKEN PATHFINDER BECAUSE APPARENTLY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND THE TECH LINE AT NISSAN HASN'T FIGURED OUT A REMEDY FOR THE PROBLEM. THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE SO I TOOK MY VEHICLE AND I CALLED CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. THE AGREED THAT THIS WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BUT NOW MONTHS LATER AND I CAN'T EVEN GET A CALL BACK FROM THEIR CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE AND UNTIL NISSAN CAN WORK OUT ALL OF THE "BUGGS" EVERYONE SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I BROUGHT THE CAR ON 6/14/13 TO GET THE FAULTY AIR BAG SENSOR DONE AT THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP ONLY TO WASTE OUR TIME SINCE THEY TOLD ME THAT "THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VIN AND THAT EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE." I EXPLAINED AGAIN THAT THE AIR BAG OFF LIGHT WOULD STAY ON WHEN KIDS OR MY WIFE WOULD SEAT ON IT. THEY SAID "IT IS A KNOWN GLITCH" BUT THAT EVERYTHING WORKS FINE AND "I SHOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT IT." I CONTACTED NISSAN IMMEDIATELY. I SPOKE TO NISSAN COSTUMER AFFAIRS "WESLEY" WHO SAID THAT WOULD LOOK INTO THIS TO GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE WOULD CONTACT THE WHITE PLAINS DEALER. SOUNDED GREAT. HE CALL ME ON 6/17/13 TO TELL ME THAT INDEED THE DEALER "DID EVERYTHING, THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO" AND SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VIN - THAN EVERYTHING WAS OK. THIS IS HYSTERICAL. I HAD ACTUALLY RECEIVED AN EMAIL DIRECTLY FROM NISSAN USA ON 6/15/13 STATING THAT "A REVIEW OF OUR RECORDS INDICATES THAT THE VEHICLE WITH THE VEHICLE SERIAL NUMBER LISTED ABOVE IS INVOLVED IN THE RECALL AS FOLLOWS: OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (OCS) SENSOR. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED ON YOUR VEHICLE. THESE REPAIRS ARE FREE OF CHARGE TO YOU." HE FIRST SOUNDED CONFUSED BUT THEN HE PROCEEDED TO EXPLAIN (AS THE DEALERSHIP) THAT "IF SOMEONE BETWEEN 90 AND 120 POUNDS SIT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE - THE LIGHT WEIGHT MIGHT NOT TRIGGER THE SENSOR." I ASKED HIM WHERE I WOULD BE ABLE TO FIND THIS TECHNICAL INFORMATION IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. HE SAID THAT IT WOULD NOT BE THERE. AND WHAT ABOUT THE RECALL LETTER? I ASKED HIM IF HE COULD PROVIDED AN OFFICIAL LETTER STATING THAT INDEED THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT OFF IS NOT AN ISSUE AND/OR A SAFETY CONCERN. NATURALLY, HE REPLIED THAT HE COULD NOT PROVIDE SUCH A LETTER. END OF STORY, MY LAWYER-WIFE WILL NOW SEND A FORMAL LEGAL LETTER TO FILE A COMPLAIN WITH NISSAN. *TR
THE AIR BAG SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT IS NOT REGISTERING A OCCUPANT SITTING IN THE SEAT. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FIRST TIME DID REGISTER A AIRBAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT. THE LOCAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT DOWNLOADED THE FAULT AND CLEARED IT AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT BACK IN. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN BUT NOT AIRBAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT ON THE DASH. THE AIRBAG OFF LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON FOR OVER A MINUTE. I HAVE SEVERAL VIDEOS OF THE PASSENGER SITTING IN THE SEAT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AND STILL NISSAN REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING BUT SAY LOOK AT THE OWNERS MANUAL FOR SAFE SEATING POSITIONS. I DO NOT WANT MY WIFE TO BE INJURED MORE AS A RESULT OF THE AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING. NISSAN NEEDS TO GET THIS PROBLEM SORTED OUT. AT THIS POINT I DON'T EVEN WANT THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE. *TR
I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA. THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH KEEPS FLASHING AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SAYS PASSENGER AIRBAG 2 OFF. I TOOK IT TO REED NISSAN THE FIRST TIME, AND THEY DIDN'T WRITE ANYTHING ON IT BECAUSE IT DIDN'T DO IT WHEN THEY TOOK IT OUT. I TOOK IT BACK A SECOND TIME AND MADE SURE THEY WROTE IT DOWN THIS TIME. THEY KEPT THE CAR TWO DAYS AND RETURNED IT WITH A NOTE STATING THE AIRBAG HAD BEEN RECALIBRATED. LESS THAN 2 WEEKS LATER, THE LIGHTS ARE BACK ON WITH PASSENGERS IN THE SEAT. THE MANAGER HAS TOLD ME THAT IS THE WAY THE LIGHTS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FUNCTIONING. NOW I SEE THAT NISSAN IS "DECIDING" WHAT TO DO WITH THE RECALL BECAUSE OF THIS SENSOR PROBLEM THAT COULD LEAD TO THE AIRBAG FAILING. I AM PUBLICLY STATING THAT SHOULD THIS HAPPEN, IT WAS BROUGHT TO REED NISSAN'S ATTENTION, AND THEY CHOSE TO TELL ME THIS IS PROPER FUNCTIONING OF THE LIGHTS. NISSAN AND REED NISSAN WILL BE HELD LEGALLY ACCOUNTABLE IF ANYTHING SHOULD HAPPEN TO MY FAMILY WHILE THEY "DECIDE" WHAT TO DO WITH A MAJOR MALFUNCTIONING PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. *TR
FUEL GAUGE IS INACCURATE. FUEL TANK CAPACITY IS APPROXIMATELY 19 GALLONS. GAUGE ABRUPTLY CHANGES. SHOWS CLOSE TO FULL UNTIL 6 GALLONS IN TANK IS LEFT. THEN SHOWS HALF FULL. WHEN SHOWS ONE QUARTER FULL TANK ONLY HAS 2 GALLONS LEFT IN TANK. THIS OCCURS WHETHER DRIVING OR STATIONARY, LEVEL OR INCLINE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE VEHICLE QUICKLY RUNS LOW ON FUEL AND DOES NOT ALLOW FOR PROPER REFUELING PLANNING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AROUND 35 MPH THE PATHFINDER STARTED SPUTTERING BETWEEN 3000-4000 RPMS AND WOULD NOT INCREASE IN SPEED. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE IN HOPES TO RESET A PROBLEM. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON, THE PATHFINDER WOULD NOT MOVE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. AS THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WAS LOADING THE PATHFINDER HE NOTICED A LARGE AMOUNT OF LIQUID COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. ONCE AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINE HAD BURST AND THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. ALSO ANOTHER OWNER OF A 2013 PATHFINDER WAS ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TRANSMISSION AND WAS TOLD THAT A PROBLEM HAD BEEN IDENTIFIED WITH THE COMPUTER THAT WAS AFFECTING THE TRANSMISSION. NISSAN KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT DIDN'T CATCH IT PRIOR TO THE NEW PATHFINDER LEAVING THE FACTORY. *TR
WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD AND 5 MONTH OLD MY 2013 PATHFINDER ON 12/29 (WHICH I HAD FOR 1 MONTH)IT STARTED FEELING LIKE IT WAS MISSING GEARS AND SPUTTERING. THE RPMS STARTED TO REV UP BETWEEN 4000-5000 AND WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 45 MPH AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT GOING ANY FASTER, AND THE CAR WAS JERKING AS I WAS DRIVING IT. I STOPPED AND TURNED THE CAR OFF HOPING IT WAS JUST A FLUKE BUT WHEN I STARED IT WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN I WAS IN REVERSE I THEN PUT IN DRIVE AGAIN IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING BUT THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND I EVEN PRESSED THE CRUISE TO SEE IF THAT WOULD WORK AND IT WOULDN'T WORK EITHER. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A TRANSMISSION MODULE CHIP THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAITED 10 DAYS AND FINALLY THEY SAID IT WAS READY. I PICKED IT UP AND LITERALLY TURNED AROUND BECAUSE IT WAS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING EXCEPT THIS TIME AS I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE PEDAL THE VEHICLE DID NOT DECELERATE AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE AT 60MPH WITHOUT ME PRESSING THE GAS UNTIL I HIT THE BRAKE IT STARTED TO SLOW DOWN, THANK GOD, ALL WHILE MY BABY IS IN THE CAR WITH ME. SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP WHICH DOES NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW AND I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH NISSAN EXPRESSING MY CONCERN FOR THE VEHICLES SAFETY, AND THE FACT IT IS BRAND NEW A MONTH OLD CAR AND THE ONLY THING THAT I'M BEING TOLD IS THAT THEY ARE SENDING A TECH FROM NISSAN AND THEY'RE REALLY SORRY ABOUT MY TROUBLE. SO NOW THE CAR JUST SITS AT THE DEALERSHIP GOING ON A MONTH AND NEITHER ONE I FEEL HAS BEEN REALLY CONCERNED WITH TRYING TO FIX THE VEHICLE IN A TIMELY MANNER OR WORRIED ON THE SAFETY OF IT. I AM TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE WAY THE DEALERSHIP AND NISSAN HAVE HANDLED THE SITUATION. SO MUCH FOR THEM BEING CONCERNED ABOUT THE WELL BEING AND SAFETY OF THEIR PASSENGERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SHIFTING HARD. WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY. THE SENSOR FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG DOES NOT WORK. THE AIRBAGS ARE AUTOMATICALLY TURNED OFF EVEN WHEN THERE IS A FULL GROWN ADULT IN THE FRONT SEAT. ALSO, DURING ROUTINE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE WHEN NO ONE IS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIRBAG INDICATOR MAY SWITCH TO "ON." IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, AN ADULT FRONT SEAT PASSENGER WILL NOT HAVE THE PROTECTION OF THE FRONT AIRBAG DUE TO A FAULTY SENSOR. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IS CLAIMING THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE AIRBAG SENSOR--EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NEWS ARTICLES TO THE CONTRARY. NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL UNDER MY VIN--EVEN THOUGH OTHER 2013 PATHFINDERS ARE THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKING DELIVERY ON MY NEW 2013 PATHFINDER I NOTICED THE SRS SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ON, UNLESS BOTH FRONT AND PASSENGER SEAT BELTS WERE ENGAGED. ADDITIONALLY, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR BEHAVES ERRATICALLY, OFTEN FAILING TO SHUT-OFF WITHIN 7 SECONDS OF VEHICLE START, AND REMAINING ON, EVEN WITH AN ADULT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I HAVE THUS-FAR MADE 3 TRIPS TO MY SERVICING DEALER, WHO HAS BEEN UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM ISSUE. ON MY SECOND SERVICE VISIT, THE DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR MENTIONED THAT NISSAN TECH SUPPORT HAD ADVISED HIM THAT THE ODS SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN CALIBRATED CORRECTLY, AT THE FACTORY. *TR
I PURCHASED MY PATHFINDER IN NOVEMBER 2012. AT ABOUT 1000 MILES INTO OWNERSHIP (LESS THAN A MONTH, MY VEHICLE STARTED SHUDDERING AND ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL. WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR THE FIRST SERVICE THEY TOLD ME THEY CHECKED FOR IT AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. THEN THEY ASKED ME TO BRING IT BACK IN FOR A COMPUTER UPDATE. IT STILL SHUDDERED. AT THE NEXT SERVICE REPEAT THE SAME SCENARIO AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AGAIN. THE SHUDDER IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE AT THIS POINT. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK FOR THE 3RD SERVICE I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING AGAIN. REPEAT ONE MORE TIME IN 9/13 AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN ON 10/7 AND I PICKED IT UP ON 10/8. I LEFT FOR A BEACH 800 MILE TRIP ON 10/9 AND THE SHUDDERING IS STILL HAPPENING AND NOW WHEN I TURN MY WHEELS WHILE SLOWING DOWN (ENTERING MY GARAGE/BRAKING IN A CURVE) THE BRAKES WILL NOT HOLD AND THE VEHICLE WILL SURGE AS IF OUT OF CONTROL. IF I LEAVE IT RUNNING FOR A 10 OR SO MINUTES IN PARK THEN TRY TO PUT IT IN DRIVE THE VEHICLE TRIES TO SURGE AWAY FROM ME AS IF I CANNOT CONTROL IT UNLESS HOLDING THE BRAKES DOWN. LAST WEEK THE VEHICLE JUMPED ACROSS 2 LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC THEN QUIT. I QUICKLY STARTED IT AGAIN AND JUMPED INTO A PARKING LOT. THE DEALER PICKED IT UP AND TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND WOULD DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME. IN FACT THEY SAID IT WAS DRIVER ERROR. THE LAST I HEARD WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS THE CAR SHOULD GO AND WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKES THE CAR SHOULD STOP. IT IS NOW SITTING IN THE DEALER PARKING LOT BECAUSE I AM EXTREMELY AFRAID OF IT. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS JUST FINE AND TO COME AND GET IT. I ALMOST DIED LAST WEEK IN IT AND IT IS NOT SAFE. THE DEALER WILL NOT HELP ME NOR CONSUMER AFFAIRS AT NISSAN ARE HELPING ME. A COUPLE WEEKS LATER, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED GOING ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME. IT DIDN'T MATTER IF THERE WAS A PERSON IN THE SEAT OR NOT. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY "FIXED THE PROBLEM". IT STILL GOES ON ONCE IN A WHILE BUT VERY RARELY. BIGGEST PROBLEM, SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IT HAS BEEN SHUDDERING (ALMOST LIKE GOING OVER A RUMBLE STRIP) WHEN I AM DRIVING LOW SPEEDS. (AROUND 20 MPH) I DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY WILL EITHER NEED TO DO A SOFTWARE UPDATE OR POSSIBLY GIVE ME A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ONGOING ISSUES WITH MY PATHFINDER SINCE PURCHASE WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I THOUGHT THAT WAS WEIRD, BUT DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT. FEW WEEKS WENT BY AND ISSUE WAS STILL OCCURRING SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DID A RESET OF THE SEAT SENSOR AND IT SEEMED TO BE WORKING PROPERLY FOR APPROX 2 WEEKS. ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN, DEALER RESET AND IT APPEARED TO WORKED OK FOR A FEW DAYS. DEALER WAS NOW TOLD THE SEAT BASE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT THERE IS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER ON THE PART DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I PURCHASED MY 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER BRAND NEW ON NOVEMBER 13TH, 2012. THE DAY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, EVEN THOUGH THE PERSON SITTING IN THE SEAT (5'9, 175LBS) WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT "PROPERLY". I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE PERSON WASN'T SITTING IN THE SEAT CORRECTLY. AS SOON AS I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP, NOT EVEN A MILE AWAY, THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITHOUT ANYONE EVEN IN THE SEAT. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW 2013 NISSAN PATHFINDER SL. THE FIRST DAY THAT I SAT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT (DAY 2 OF OWNERSHIP), WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING, THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED STATING THAT THE AIR BAG WAS OFF AND WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN A CRASH. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN CALIBRATION PROBLEM WITH THE PATHFINDER'S SEAT SENSORS AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY CAR, BUT THAT IT NEEDED TO BE RECALIBRATED, WHICH IT WAS. AFTER HAVING THE CAR BACK FOR 1 WEEK, THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY WHILE I WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT EVEN THOUGH I WAS SEATED "PROPERLY" AS DESCRIBED IN THE USER'S MANUAL. THE CAR WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY PARTICULAR CAR, THEY REPLACED THE SEAT SENSORS BECAUSE IT WAS A "SAFETY ISSUE." TWO WEEKS AFTER HAVING THE CAR BACK THE LIGHT IS ONCE AGAIN COMING ON WHEN I SIT NORMAL AND UPRIGHT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE HEAD TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALERSHIP IS NOW TELLING ME THAT THE CAR IS ACTING IN MY BEST INTEREST TO INTERMITTENTLY TURN OFF THE AIRBAG LIGHT WHEN I AM SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BECAUSE OF MY SIZE. I AM A 5'4, 120 LB FEMALE. I FEEL THAT IF I AM SITTING UPRIGHT IN THE CENTER OF THE SEAT, AS A NORMAL SIZE ADULT, THE AIRBAG SHOULD NOT BE DISENGAGED. DRIVETRAIN SOFTWARE ISSUE: WHEN I BOUGHT THE 2013 PATHFINDERS, LIKE ANY NEW OWNER I WAS THRILLED. . UNFORTUNATELY THERE WERE A FEW THINGS I DID NOT ANTICIPATE. . SO WHEN MY PATHFINDER BEGAN SHUTTERING AND SHAKING AT 900 MILES, I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, WHO SAID THEY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROBLEM, WHO THEN REFERRED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT, WHO WITH ALL OF THERE UP-TO-DATE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS COULD NOT FIT THE PROBLEM. THE SHUTTERING & SHAKING CONTINUE EVERY FEW DAYS. THE MORE MILE I PUT ON THE CAR, THE WORST THE SHAKES AND SHUTTERS BECAME. SOMETIMES THE CAR WOULD SHAKE SO VIOLENTLY, THAT THE ENGINE WOULD BOG DOWN AND LOOSE ALL POWER. SO, AFTER MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE SERVICE REPAIR DEPARTMENT, I FINALLY GOT A STRAIGHT ANSWER. . APPARENTLY, SOFTWARE THAT CONTROLS THE DRIVETRAIN, AND WAS DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THE VEHICLES MILEAGE, ACTUALLY ENDS UP DAMAGING THE BELT DRIVE. NOT SOMETHING NISSAN WAS EXPECTING, BUT KNEW ABOUT BEFORE I BOUGHT THE CAR. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE, ALSO WAS REPORTED BY OTHER PEOPLE EARLIER IN THE YEAR. "THE SHUTTERING IS ACTUALLY THE RESULT OF DAMAGE TO THE DRIVETRAIN FROM THE GLITCH IN THE SOFTWARE". NISSAN PATHFINDER 2013 TRANSMISSION HAS SHUTTERED AND SHUTTERED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. 30 DAYS IT STARTED AGAIN ONLY WORSE, TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN GULFPORT, MS AND THE MECHANIC THINKS IT HAS BAD GAS. BROUGHT THE CAR IN FLORIDA, THEY WORKED ON IT AND SEEMED TO KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING. MOST OF THE TIME THAT I AM ACCELERATING BETWEEN 20 - 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE IS SHAKING. THE AMOUNT OF SHAKE OR "SHUDDER"VARIES FROM SLIGHTLY NOTICEABLE TO VERY NOTICEABLE. THE CONCERN HERE IS THE RELIABILITY OF THE TRANSMISSION (CVT) WHICH SEEMS TO BE SLIPPING. TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55MPH WHEN MY PATHFINDER SHUTTERED. I SLOWED DOWN NOT KNOWING IF MY CAR WAS GOING TO STALL. A FEW DAYS WENT BY & I WAS TURNING INTO THE RESIDENTIAL AREA THAT I RESIDE AT APPROX 15MPH & THE SUV SHUTTERED AGAIN. I TOOK IT BACK TO NISSAN AND ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO CHECK OUT THE CAR AFTER SEVERAL HOURS STATED HE COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM & WAS NOT ABLE TO LOG IT IN EITHER. EVER SINCE I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES. AT THIS POINT I AM CONCERNED IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO EXPECT FROM THE PATHFINDER. MECHANICS ARE HELPFUL EITHER. Both of my rear passenger door lock actuators stop working. The doors will not unlock from the inside when a passenger tries to unlock the door to exit the car. My break lights stay on . The ABS light turned on then it stopped turning on. The light bulbs inside the car in the second row stopped turning on .
