WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THERE IS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO ANY FASTER AND YOU ARE COASTING YOU CAN NOT GO ANY FASTER. THIS HAPPENS WHEN GOING UP HILL ON WHEN THERE IS A GREATER LOAD ON THE TRANSMISSION. YOU CAN NOT MAINTAIN SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THIS CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION FOR THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR AS WELL AS THOSE AROUND THEM. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER I WAS TOLD THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN FOR ALL ROGUES THAT THE TRANSMISSION OVER HEATS AND IT GOES INTO SAFETY OVERRIDE MODE SO IT DOESN'T BLOW UP. IN LIGHT OF THIS ALL ROGUES NEED A TRANSMISSION COOLER INSTALLED AT A COST OF $1300. *TR
WE BOUGHT A CAR LAST MONDAY ON MAY 26, 2014 AT ANTWERPEN NISSAN SECURITY DEALERSHIP (1701 WOODLAWN DRIVE, BALTIMORE, MD 21207). PLEASE FIND THE CAR DETAILS: YEAR: 2008 MAKE: NISSAN MODEL: ROGUE BODY TYPE: 4DR SL FWD TRIM: SL BLACK VIN: [XXX] ODOMETER: 78321 WITH A DEALER WARRANTY FOR ONE MONTH OR 1000 MILES, POWERTRAIN ONLY ; FOR THE TOTAL CASH DELIVERED PRICE OF $13,000.00 (THIRTEEN THOUSAND US DOLLARS) ALREADY PAID BY CHECK ON MAY 26, 2014. THE SECOND DAY WE WERE FACING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AS THE MOTOR WAS OVERHEATED IN VERY FEW MILES, IT WAS SMELLING SMOKY INSIDE AND THE MOTOR WAS MAKING CRACKING NOISES EVEN WHEN IT WAS TURNED OFF. WE CALLED IMMEDIATELY THE SALES MANAGER AND LET HIM KNOW THAT WE WANT TO TURN THE CAR BACK AS IT IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE DAY AFTER WE ALMOST GET AN ACCIDENT IN THE TRAFFIC THAT PUT OUR LIFE IN DANGER. THE CAR LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING: GAS PEDAL WAS FULLY PUSHED DOWN AND THE TACHOMETER SHOWED 3500 RPM WHILE THE SPEED HARDLY REACHED 20 MPH FOR ABOUT 2 MILES TILL WE PULLED OVER AT BEL AIR ROAD. WE DECIDED TO CALL THE GENERAL MANAGER FOR TURNING THE CAR BACK AS IT WAS WITHIN THE WARRANTY AND I WAS VERY CLEAR TO HIM THAT I DO NOT WANT THAT CAR ANY MORE. HE AGREED TO DO SO, AND ON LAST FRIDAY MAY 30TH, 2014, THEY CARRIED THE CAR FROM OUR HOME LOCATION. WE REQUESTED THE MONEY BACK. SINCE THAT DAY WE HAVE BEING WAITING FOR DAYS AND HOURS IN THE DEALERSHIP OFFICES FOR A RESPONSE OF OUR REQUEST, BUT THEY LIED TO US ALL THE TIME AND LAST NIGHT AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS ON DEAF PHONE CALLS THE RESPONSE WAS: NO, THEY ARE NOT GIVING US THE MONEY BACK. WAS ON MAIN STREET IN WATERTOWN , CT ROAD WAS WET AROUND 6:30 AM JUST ENTERING CURVE FRONT RIGHT AXLE BROKE CAUSING CAR TO HIT GUARD RAIL AND DO FRONT END DAMAGE . INSURANCE COMPANY REPLACED IT WITH A RECONDITIONED AXLE .ON 10/1/2014 LEFT AXLE BROKE DRIVING ON I-95 NOT TO FAR FROM HOME STEERING WAS WOBBLY BUT MADE IT HOME SAFE REPLACED THE AXLE. THE NEXT DAY THE RIGHT SIDE WENT AGAIN AND IS NOW BACK AT THE AUTO BODY SHOP WAITING ON REPAIR -- WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL OF NISSAN THINK IF THIS IS SO SHOULD BE A RECALL TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING WEST FROM ST. LOUIS, MO TO BOULDER, CO AND ABOUT HALF WAY INTO MY DRIVE MY 2008 NISSAN ROGUE S AWD HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BUT THE RPM OF THE ENGINE CLIMBED WHEN I PRESSED THE PEDAL. I CAME TO A STOP AND I COULD HEAR THE TRANSMISSION MAKING AN WHINING NOISE. I CHECKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT SEE ANY FLUID LEAKS OR ANY DAMAGE. WHEN I GOT BACK ON THE ROAD THE CAR WORKED NORMALLY FOR A WHILE BUT THEN BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. THIS OCCURRED FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP, SOMETIMES WORKING NORMALLY, AND SOMETIMES NOT. *TR
MY CAR'S "CHECK ENGINE SOON" SIGNAL CAME ON AND WHEN I GOT IT CHECKED OUT I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE A FAULTY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR. AFTER SOME RESEARCH ONLINE IT'S APPARENT THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE MAKE AND MODEL. I WOULD LIKE TO PUT IN A COMPLAINT SO THAT WE COULD REQUEST RECALL ACTION ON THIS ISSUE AS IT'S A COMMON ISSUE HAPPENING TO A LOT OF NISSAN ROGUE CONSUMERS. *TR
MAY 2014: ON A TRIP TO AZ, VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND COULD NOT BE DRIVEN MORE THAN 3000 RPMS. SUDDENLY AND DRASTICALLY SLOWING DOWN WITHOUT USING BRAKES AND WITH NO BRAKE LIGHT WARNING TO FOLLOWING VEHICLES COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS REAR-END ACCIDENT. PROBLEM OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING MORE 20 TIMES. TOOK ROGUE TO ECONOMY NISSAN TO REPAIR PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED DIP STICK AND DRAINED OFF SOME TRANSMISSION FLUID AND STATED THIS WOULD CORRECT WHAT THEY SAID WAS A TRANSMISSION FLUID OVERHEATING PROBLEM. JULY 2014: ON ANOTHER CROSS COUNTRY TRIP PROBLEM RE-OCCURRED. WENT TO DAVE SOLON NISSAN IN PUEBLO COLO. THEY ADVISED NOT TO CONTINUE DRIVING ROGUE UNTIL A TRANSMISSION COOLER KIT WAS INSTALLED. THIS PART WAS ON PERPETUAL BACK ORDER. IN REALITY WE WERE INFORMED THAT AT THAT TIME THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. BECAUSE OF OUR SCHEDULE, WE TRADED THE ROGUE IN FOR A USED NISSAN PATHFINDER. WE LATER FOUND OUT THAT DAVE SOLON NISSAN GOT TIRED OF WAITING FOR THE PART AND TOOK ROGUE TO A CAR ACTION. IT IS UNCLEAR WHETHER THEY INFORMED THE PUBLIC OF PROBLEM OR JUST SOLD THE VEHICLE WITH A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM THAT COULD NOT BE CORRECTED. TO DATE THERE APPEARS TO BE NO FIX TO THIS PROBLEM. WE BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE GIVEN THE HIGH POTENTIAL FOR SERIOUS REAR-END ACCIDENTS. *TR
I FIRST EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER IN MY VEHICLE WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I STARTED TO GO, EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR THE CAR WOULD BARELY MOVE. THE ENGINE WOULD REV, BUT THE CAR BARELY HAD ANY POWER. I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT (HAYES CHRYSLER IN GAINESVILLE) THE STATED IT WAS THEY THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND SENT IT TO THE CARRIAGE NISSAN GARAGE. AFTER HAVING IT THERE FOR A FEW DAYS THE TECHNICIAN SAID HE COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM! I LEFT AND BEFORE I COULD EVEN GET 15 MILES DOWN THE ROAD I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 60MPH, WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN I STARTED LOSING SPEED. REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT I HAD THE GAS PEDAL TOO THE FLOOR! I TURNED AROUND AND TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO NISSAN, HOWEVER IN THE LAST 10 MINUTES OF MY DRIVE TO THE SERVICE SHOP THE PROBLEM STOPPED! THEY KEPT IT FOR ANOTHER DAY AND STILL COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE ABS SENOR THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE REPLACED THE SENSOR AND I THOUGHT ALL THE PROBLEMS HAD BEEN SOLVED! WRONG!!!! THERE HAVE BEEN 3 INSTANCES WERE I HAVE HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL SET WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN I START LOSING SPEED! THERE HAVE BEEN 4 INSTANCES WHERE I HAVE ALMOST BEEN T-BONES WITH MY 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR BECAUSE THE CAR HAS LOST ACCELERATION IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION!!! THE MORNING I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP THIS TIME (8-25-14) I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A SEMI WHEN MY CAR COULDN'T GET THROUGH THE GREEN LIGHT BEFORE IT TURNED RED. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS, AND FIGHTS FOR A RECALL ON THIS TRANSMISSION! MY NISSAN TECH STATES THAT IF THERE IS NO CODE THROWN DURING THE INCIDENT THEN THEY CANNOT REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, YET EVERY CASE I'VE READ SAY THAT NO CODE HAS SHOWN UP AT ALL! THIS IS A DANGER TO OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND BEGAN DECELERATING RAPIDLY. AFTER PUSHING THE GAS MULTIPLE TIMES, THE VEHICLE REMAINED UNRESPONSIVE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 20MPH WHICH WAS VERY DANGEROUS IN AN 80 MPH SPEED ZONE ON A STATE HIGHWAY. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE FOR 30 MINUTES. UPON STARTING IT UP AGAIN AND CONTINUING ON MY TRIP, THE VEHICLE REPEATED THE PROBLEM WITHIN ANOTHER HOUR OF DRIVING. WHEN THIS OCCURS NOW, VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE FROM A FULL STOP. THIS IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS IN TOLL BOOTHS OR RED LIGHTS, AS OTHER CARS TAKE THE LIBERTY OF DRIVING BY AS I AM PUMPING THE GAS. RANDOMLY THE CAR WILL KICK BACK INTO GEAR AND JUT OUT INTO TRAFFIC, WHICH HAS ALMOST CAUSED TWO DIFFERENT ACCIDENTS. *TR
WE NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS GAUGE A FEW MONTHS AGO AND LAST WEEK THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED OUR MECHANIC AND HE HAD SAID THERE WAS A NOTICE THAT CAME UP ABOUT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT NOT READING CORRECTLY ON ANOTHER YEAR ROGUE. I ASKED IF WE CAN BRING IT IN AND HE SAID HE WOULD CHECK TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. I LOOKED ON THIS SITE AFTER READING SEVERAL NISSAN FORUMS AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A PERSISTENT PROBLEM WITH ROGUES. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM IF SO MANY ROGUES HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AND SO MANY MECHANICS KNOW ABOUT IT. ESPECIALLY THE 2008. THIS PROBLEM STARTS AS SOON AS YOU START UP THE CAR. BEFORE IT WOULD START WORKING CORRECTLY BUT NOW THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON AND IT STAYS AT E OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE ALL THE TIME. *TR
BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AFTER 2 HOURS OF DRIVING-WAS TOLD AT DEALER THAT CAR WAS GOING INTO SAFE MODE. FLUIDS WERE CHANGED AT CONSIDERABLE COST APPROX 6 MONTHS AGO. YESTERDAY I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND WITHOUT WARNING I HAD NO POWER, HAD TO COAST TO SAFETY. THERE WERE NO SOUNDS, NO LIGHTS OF WARNING ON DASH. DEALERSHIP INDICATES TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $3500. THEY WILL NOT ENTERTAIN ANY WARRANTY COMPENSATION AS WE HAVE PASSES THE EXTENDED 120,000 WARRANTY. CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CVT COMPONENT, VERY DISAPPOINTING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND FELT AS IF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED IN HIGH GEAR. THE HESITATION RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY FOR OVER TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
AIR BAG LIGHT IS FLASHING NISSAN HAS HAD RECALL BUT SAY NOT MY VIN BUT THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME AS THE OTHER RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND SHUTTERED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DEFECT WAS ALSO PRESENT WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT READ FULL, OR SLOW TO RESPOND. FUEL LEVEL GAUGE IS INACCURATE OR READS ERRATICALLY NISSAN RECALL THIS SAME ISSUE FOR OTHER CAR AND FAILED TO INCLUDE THE NISSAN ROGUE LEAVING THE OWNER TO COVER THE COST WHICH IS OVER $600.00. *TR
DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON BOTH FRONT DOORS FROZE AFTER FREEZING RAIN/ ICE STORM. IN THE MORNING I OPENED THE DOOR AND STARTED THE CAR (DID NOT CLOSE THE DOOR) AND WENT INSIDE THE HOUSE WHILE IT WARMED-UP. WHEN I RETURNED THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE OR THE INSIDE HANDLES. THE PASSENGER DOOR HAD STOPPED WORKING FROM THE OUTSIDE HANDLE ABOUT 6 WEEKS EARLIER AFTER A SIMILAR STORM, THOUGH I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE PROBLEM TO THE WEATHER AT THE TIME. WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE HANDLE ON 03/12/2014 IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I WAS NOW NOT ABLE TO ACCESS THE VEHICLE FROM EITHER FRONT DOOR. I WAS ABLE TO CLIMB IN THROUGH THE BACK SEAT, OVER THE CONSOLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF. I WAS THEN DIRECTED BY NISSAN CUSTOMER AFFAIRS TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. WHEN ACCESSING THE CAR TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I STRAINED MY BACK AND SCRATCHED MY HAND AND ARM ON THE CONSOLE (NO DOCTORS VISIT). UPON ARRIVING AT THE DEALERSHIP IN ALBAN, NY I HAD TO CRAWL OUT OF THE CAR THROUGH THE BACK DOOR. A WOMAN PULLED UP DIRECTLY BEHIND ME WHO WAS THERE TO SERVICE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HER 2008 NISSAN ROGUE, THOUGH ONLY WITH ONE OF THE FRONT DOORS. I CALLED ALL OF THE NISSAN DEALERSHIPS IN THE AREA AND THEY WERE ALL SERVICING AT LEAST ONE 2008 NISSAN ROGUE WITH THE SAME ISSUE AFTER THE FREEZING RAIN STORM. THE PARTS WERE ORDERED FOR ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK FOR REPAIR. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE 2 - 3 DAYS FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN. AFTER 4 BUSINESS DAYS (6 DAYS) I WAS CALLED AND INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE BACK-ORDERED AND WOULD BE ANOTHER SEVERAL DAYS. THE PARTS WERE IN HIGH DEMAND REGIONALLY AFTER THE WEATHER EVENT, SHOWING THAT THIS IS A SYSTEMATIC PROBLEM. *TR
PLEASE HELP US HAVE NISSAN DO A RECALL ON THE ENGINE. I HAVE HAD MY NISSAN ROUGE FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS. I WAS DRIVING MY CAR FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO LOS ANGELES. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 70 MILES PER HOUR WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY VEHICLE STARTED TO REDUCE SPEED. THIS HAPPENED LATER IN THE NIGHT SO THERE WASN'T MUCH TRAFFIC. IF IT WAS DURING RUSH HOUR I AM PRETTY SURE THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. EVERY TIME I WOULD I TRIED TO INCREASE SPEED IT WOULD. I HAD TO DRIVE AT ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR UNTIL I FOUND A SAFE PLACE TO STOP. I HAD TO WAIT FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS AND THE TRIED DRIVING AGAIN AND IT WORKED FINE. I CAN'T TAKE THIS VEHICLE ON TRIPS ANY MORE BECAUSE I AM SCARED THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. I HOPE THIS CAN BE RECALLED AND FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE REALLY GETS HURT IF NO HAS BEEN YET. *TR
NISSAN ROGUE 2008 WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY INCLINE. VEHICLE TOPPED OUT AT 45 MPH IN 65 ZONE. UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, VEHICLES HONKED AND PASSED BY. THIS CONTINUED UNTIL TOP OF INCLINE, THEN VEHICLE RESUMED ACCELERATION. TOOK TO LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO LEARN THAT NISSAN OFFERS EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR CVT TRANSMISSION AND THAT THIS ISSUE QUALIFIED FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. DEALER ORDERED TRANSMISSION COOLER KIT ON 3/3/2014. DEALER HAS SINCE INFORMED ME THAT PART REQUEST IS RESTRICTED AND CAN GIVE NO TIMEFRAME OF REPLACEMENT. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2 WEEKS ( NOW 3/19). NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ALSO UNABLE TO EXPEDITE PART. ACCELERATION ISSUE HAS HAPPENED 2 ADDITIONAL TIMES WITHIN LAST TWO WEEKS, AGAIN ON THE FREEWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF 65 MPH TRAFFIC. NISSAN HAS INDICATED THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE REPLACEMENT VEHICLE WHILE AWAITING PART. I EXPRESSED CONCERNS THAT THIS IS A VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUE IN WHICH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AGAIN WAS UNABLE TO COMMIT TO PROVIDING REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. CASE # [XXX]. I NOTICED A WHINNING SOUND COMING FROM MY VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO THEN REPORTED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE CVT TRANSMISSION (CARRIER BEARING AREA). I WAS NOT AWARE THAT THERE HAD BEEN ISSUES WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS IN NISSAN. NISSAN HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY HOWEVER DUE TO ME THE CONSUMER NOT BEING MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE THAT NISSAN WAS HAVING, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT I SHOULD BE ON THE LOOK TO SEE IF MY CAR WAS HAVING ISSUES UNTIL I HEARD THE WHINNING SOUND. I DRIVE A LOT FOR WORK, THEREFORE MY CAR HAS 123,233 MILES ON IT BUT IS VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND HAS NO OTHER ISSUES. I AM CURRENTLY BATTLING WITH NISSAN TO HAVE THEM FIX THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT (CVT TRANSMISSION). NISSAN SHOULD BE MADE TO CORRECT THESE DEFECTS IN THEIR PRODUCTS REGARDLESS. THE PROBLEM WE ARE HAVING IS THE CAR WILL HESITATE AS IF THE ENGINE STALLS BUT THE TACHOMETER SHOWS A STEADY RPM. THIS HESITATION LASTS FOR JUST A FEW SECONDS BUT IS VERY SUDDEN. THE CAR THEN STARTS GOING AS IF NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. THERE ARE NO LIGHTS COMING ON TO INDICATE ANY PROBLEMS. WHEN I HAVE HAD THE CAR AT THE DEALER THEY CHECK FOR A TROUBLE CODES AND THERE AREN'T ANY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND DIFFERENT CONDITIONS. THE FIRST TIME I JUST HAD TURNED A CORNER AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND IT HESITATED THREE TIMES WITHIN 10 TO 15 SECONDS. OUR SPEED DROPPED TO ALMOST A STOP THEN STARTED AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. OTHER TIMES I HAVE BEEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT AND HAVE HAD THE CAR COME ALMOST TO A STOP. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED THREE TIMES. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT A CONSTANT SPEED ON THE FREEWAY AND HAD THE CAR DROP FROM 65 MPH DOWN TO 40 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING A MAJOR WRECK IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE CAR AGAIN STARTED UP AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. ANOTHER TIME I WAS MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY INTO TRAFFIC DOING 70MPH AND HAD IT HESITATE DOWN TO 40MPH IN FRONT OF A SEMI. HE HAD TO LOCK HIS WHEELS TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME, HE COULD NOT GET OVER. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MERGE WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE. I HAD ENOUGH ROOM HAD IT NOT HESITATED. THIS LAST TIME I WAS TURNING ACROSS TWO LANES ONTO AN ENTRANCE RAMP TO THE FREEWAY WHEN IT CAME ALMOST TO A STOP MIDWAY ACROSS THE FIRST LANE I WAS CROSSING. AN ONCOMING CAR HAD TO SWERVE INTO THE RIGHT LANE TO AVOID ME. HAD THE CAR NOT BEEN ABLE TO MOVE RIGHT WE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT IN THE PASSENGER DOOR AT ABOUT 50 MPH. MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I HAVE CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT OUR DEALERSHIP BUT HE WILL NOT CALL BACK. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE AT 1-800-343-6913 X[XXX] AND LEFT MESSAGES WITH [XXX] BUT SHE WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS. WE WERE DRIVING BACK HOME WHEN MY HUSBAND NOTICED THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 65 MPH. THIS OCCURRED ABOUT HALFWAY HOME, SO ABOUT 200 MILES INTO OUR DRIVE BACK HOME (OF THE 350 MILE TOTAL). THE CAR WAS NOT OVERHEATED, NOR WAS IT MAKING NOISE. HE WOULD PUT HIS FOOT DOWN ALL THE WAY ON THE ACCELERATOR, AS IF HE WANTED TO GO FULL SPEED AND IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. THERE WEREN'T ANY WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE CONSOLE, AND IT WAS NOT OVERHEATED. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM WE WERE HAVING. THEY SAID WE COULD TAKE THE CAR INTO THEM, BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $150 JUST FOR THE INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, AND THEY CONFIRMED THERE WASN'T A RECALL SO WE WOULD ALSO HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THE REPAIRS. WE STOPPED TO EAT AND CALM OUR NERVES AND GOT BACK ON THE ROAD. WHEN WE GOT BACK IN THE CAR, THE PROBLEM DID NOT START UP AGAIN UNTIL A FEW MONTHS LATER, DURING OUR NEXT LONG DRIVE AWAY FROM HOME, AND HAVE AVOIDED TAKING IT ON LONG TRIPS SINCE THEN. VEHICLE WORKED FINE FOR OVER A YEAR AND TWO MONTHS AGO AGAIN STARTED WITH THIS PROBLEM. MALFUNCTION IS INTERMITTENT, BUT RECENTLY MORE FREQUENT. I BROUGHT IT TO A NISSAN DEALER IN LAS CRUCES NM BUT THEY DIDNT HAVE A TRANSMISSION TECH IN THAT DAY. I WAS CHARGED A $120 DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND TOLD THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG BUT TO BRING IT BACK ON A DAY WHEN TRANSMISSION TECH WILL BE IN. ITS AN HOUR AND HALF DRIVE FOR ME EACH WAY. HAVE SINCE READ MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FROM OTHER OWNERS OF SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM.

THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE HAS ALREADY FAILED ONCE AND WAS REPLACED. THE BRAND NEW CVT HAS LESS THAN 5K MILES ON IT AND I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. THE PROBLEMS INCLUDE LACK OF ACCELERATION IN THE 0-20 ZONE WITH ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN FULL ACCEL POSITION THERE IS LITTLE TO NO ACCELERATION. WHILE DRIVING UP HILLS IN THE ENTIRE SPEED RANGE THERE IS A LACK OF ABILITY TO ACCELERATE ESPECIALLY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS CREATING A POTENTIAL UNSAFE SLOW SPEEDS ISSUE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 2008-2010 ROGUES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED, HAS RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE, AND SHOULD STILL BE A RELIABLE CAR, PLEASE CONSIDER A RECALL OF THE CVT'S IN THESE VEHICLES. 2008 NISSAN ROGUE- BOTH FRONT DOOR HANDLES HAVE COMPLETELY FAILED AND NEITHER DOOR CAN BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE FRONT DOORS IS TO CLIMB IN THROUGH THE BACK DOORS AND OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. *TR

I DID ASK ABOUT RECALLS, AND THEY STATED THERE WERE NONE. IT SEEMS THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 08V521000. HOWEVER, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BECAUSE "THE PART WAS MANUFACTURED AT A DIFFERENT PLANT". I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING, AND THE "AIRBAG OFF" INDICATOR LIT UP FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS POSSIBLY RELATED TO THE OCS SENSOR MALFUNCTIONING, AND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH A RECALL (08V521000). I CALLED THE RECALL CENTER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL, AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER ON 10-2-13 FOR THEM TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC. WAS INFORMED THAT IN FACT, THE OCS HAD GONE BAD; BUT AGAIN TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, AND WOULD COST $2819 TO FIX. I HAVE SINCE ESCALATED MY CASE TO THE REGIONAL LEVEL, GIVEN THAT MY CAR HAS LESS THAN 50K MILES, WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW, AND A SENSOR SHOULD LAST WELL BEYOND THAT! I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE IN A MINIMUM 45 MILE PER HOUR HIGHWAY (IN PUERTO RICO) WHEN CAR DECELERATED AND WAS UNABLE TO GO MORE THAN 5 MILES PER HOUR AFTER DECELERATING FOR A TOLL. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ISLAND AND COULD NOT AFFORD A TOW TRUCK. I WAITED FOR TWO HOURS AND TRIED STARTING THE CAR AGAIN TO SEE IF I COULD CONTINUE. THE CAR SEEMED BACK TO NORMAL AND I MADE IT HOME. THE EXTREME ACCELERATION HAS HAPPENED TO ME 2 OTHER TIMES AND I CANNOT AFFORD ANOTHER VEHICLE. I RECENTLY RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND THERE IS A WIDE ARRAY OF PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES AND SIMILAR EXPERIENCES AND CLOSE CALLS WITH VEHICULAR ACCIDENTS. SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE CAR NOW HAS 130K MILES AND DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I AM AN ACTIVE DUTY MEMBER STATIONED OVERSEAS IN PUERTO RICO AND DID NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATION THAT A WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED. PROBLEMS WITH THE GAS GAUGE READY 1/2 TO 1/4 EMPTY WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE ARE REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH A FAULTY FUEL SENDING MODULE OR MODULES OR PERHAPS THE FUEL PUMP. I SEE THIS PROBLEM ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN SUBMITTED FOR THE NISSAN ROGUE. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT THE NISSAN PATHFINDER HAS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A RECALL. I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY CLAIM NOT TO HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT OCCURRING IN THE ROGUE. I RESEARCHED VARIOUS FORUMS ON THE INTERNET AND IT SEEMS TO BE PREVALENT IN NISSAN'S CVT TRANSMISSION. THE NISSAN REP SAID THAT "NISSAN DOESN'T SUPPORT GOOGLE" WHEN I TOLD HER WHAT WAS BEING REPORTED ON THE INTERNET. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT PUTS MY FAMILY AT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY. THIS IS ONE OF SEVERAL SIMILAR INCIDENTS. I WAS ON A ROAD TRIP TO NYC, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AT 73 MPH. IN ALL INCIDENTS, I NOTICED THAT AFTER HAVING THE CRUISE ON FOR OVER AN HOUR, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CRUISE WOULD JUST "KICK OFF". IT WOULD STOP WORKING. AND MY CAR WOULD START TO DECELERATE. BEING ON A MAIN HIGHWAY, TRAVELING 73 MPH WITH EVERYONE AROUND ME GOING EQUALLY AS FAST, IF NOT FASTER, AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN DECELERATING WAS LIKE PUTTING ON THE BRAKES WITH NO BRAKE LIGHTS. IT WAS POSITIVELY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, AFTER IT GOT DOWN TO BETWEEN 60 AND 65, IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I PUT MY FOOT TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION. I GOT INTO THE RIGHT HAND LANE AS QUICKLY AS I COULD, AND PRAYED THE ENTIRE TIME TO NOT BE KILLED. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE UP TO 70. BUT THE CRUISE WOULD JUST KICK OFF AS SOON AS I SET IT AGAIN. MADDENING, DANGEROUS AND SCARY. AND IT HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. EXACTLY THE SAME WAY EACH TIME. AND ONLY AFTER BEING IN THE CAR WITH CRUISE ON FOR OVER AN HOUR. *TR
ON 2 OCCASIONS IN A WEEK PERIOD OF TIME AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR I EXITED THE HIGHWAY VIA AN EXIT RAMP AND STOPPED AT THE STOP LIGHT. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS STILL IN DRIVE AND THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED DOWN. BOTH TIMES I SCOOTED ABOUT 1MPH OVER TO THE SHOULDER, PLACED THE CAR IN PARK THEN BACK IN DRIVE AND IT ACCELERATED NORMALLY. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THEY ARE REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AT NO COST, IT IS STILL COVERED UNDER THE NISSAN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE CVT. THIS ISSUE FRIGHTENED ME AND MADE ME FEEL UNSAFE IN THE VEHICLE. I WORRY HAD I NEEDED TO STOP ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEN ACCELERATE AND WAS UNABLE TO THAT I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT. I FEEL NISSAN SHOULD LOOK FURTHER INTO THE CVT ISSUES AND PERHAPS ISSUE RECALLS AS THESE TYPES OF ISSUES MAKE THE CAR UNSAFE. IN MY INSTANCE THE CAR FELT AS IF IT WERE STUCK IN PARK OR NEUTRAL, IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE. I HAVE READ ONLINE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS CONCERNING CVT ISSUES. *TR
THE CVT TRANSMISSION IN THE 2008 NISSAN ROGUE IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE CAR LOSES ACCELERATION AFTER TRAVELING A DISTANCE (OVER 40 MILES) AND WHEN IT COMES TO A STOP, IT WILL NOT TAKE OFF. SATURDAY, JUNE 8, 2013 I DROVE FROM COLLEGE STATION, TX TO HOUSTON, TX (85 MILES). WHEN I CAME A STOP SIGN AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY, I STOPPED AND THEN ATTEMPTED A RIGHT TURN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ONCE I DEPRESSED THE GAS, THE CAR ROLLED INTO THE INTERSECTION AND STALLED WITH TRAFFIC BARRELING TOWARD ME. CARS HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING ME. THIS CAR HAS ALWAYS HAD ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER COME ON. THE FIRST TIME THE CAR BROKE DOWN WAS ON THE FIRST ROAD TRIP I TOOK IN THE CAR. IN 2012 AS I WAS DRIVING TO ATLANTA, GEORGIA AND THE CAR BROKE COMPLETELY DOWN IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA. I HAD TO GET A LOANER FROM THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN BIRMINGHAM TO COMPLETE MY TRIP. THE CVT TRANSMISSION IS A VERY, VERY DANGEROUS TECHNOLOGY AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND A CLASS ACTION SUIT SHOULD BE INITIATED AGAINST NISSAN. NISSAN HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FROM 60000 TO 120000 IN ALL CVT TRANSMISSION VEHICLES. WHY WOULD THEY DO THIS IF THEY DO NOT THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM. *TR
THE SHIFT REMAINED IN LOCKED WHEN IT'S PARKED AND WILL NOT UNLOCK FOR ME TO DRIVE. LEAVING MYSELF AND MY BABY STRANDED. WHEN I CHECKED ONLINE, IT LOOKS LIKE A KNOWN COMPLAINT BY NISSAN ROGUE OWNERS. THEY SHOULD RECALL THE VEHICLE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AS IT'S DANGEROUS TO HAVE SUCH A DEFECT. *TR
AIRBAG OCCUPANCY SENSOR ERROR. *TR
THE CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT HAD COME ON SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANDY MOHR NISSAN IN AVON INDIANA TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THE SHOP DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. EVIDENTLY, THE SENSOR IS IMBEDDED IN THE BOTTOM SEAT CUSHION REQUIRING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CUSHION. WITHOUT REPLACEMENT, THE AIRBAG WILL NOT ENGAGE. THE ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR WAS OVER $3,200, AND THE CAR HAD JUST FALLEN OUT OF WARRANTY BY 350 MILES. THE COST OF THIS SEAT CUSHION INCLUDING LABOR IS ROUGHLY ONE-THIRD OF THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. THROUGH AN INTERNET SEARCH, I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THESE 2008 ROGUES FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT. I LATER RECEIVED A CALL INFORMING ME THAT ALTHOUGH THESE VEHICLES WERE RECALLED, OUR VIN NUMBER DID NOT SHOW UP IN THE RECALL. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE ONE PROBLEM THAT WE HAVE HAD WITH THIS CAR IS THE SAME AS THOSE RECALLED, BUT OURS IS NOT ON THE LIST. THIS PUTS US IN A NO WIN SITUATION. FIRST, IT MAKES THE VEHICLE DANGEROUS. SECOND, WE CANNOT AFFORD TO SPEND ONE THIRD OF THE VALUE OF THE CAR TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THIRD, IT KILLS THE RESALE VALUE OF THE CAR SINCE WE WILL HAVE TO MAKE ANY POTENTIAL BUYER AWARE OF THE ISSUE. *TR
AFTER DRIVING 2.5 - 3HRS OF HIGHWAY DRIVING WOULD NOT ACCELERATE (INCREASE IN SPEED ). I HAVE BEEN IN INTERSECTIONS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHICH IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE TO TRAVEL TO ALABAMA AND FLORIDA SEVERAL TIMES EACH YEAR FROM MY HOME IN SOUTH CAROLINA AND THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN TRYING TO PASS LARGE16 WHEELER TRUCKS OR JUST KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC FLOW. TO DO THIS WHEN TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 65 - 70 MILES PER HR. HAS CONCERNED ME, IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY MATTER. IT COULD EASILY CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH AND DEATH. ON A RESENT TRIP(JULY /2015) TO ALABAMA ON I-65 TRAVELING AT SPEEDS ON 70+ MY CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE TO DOWN IT WAS NEAR 50 MILES PER HOUR, I PULLED OFF HIGHWAY AND TURNED MY CAR OFF. I HAVE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE IT IS NOT OVER HEATING, WHICH IT IS NOT. THE TEMP. GAUGE IS BELOW THE HALF MARK AND THE RPM GAUGE WILL NOT MOVE PAST 2.5. ALSO, ON THIS TRIP I NOTICED THAT ANY SLIGHT HILL GOING UP IT WOULD HAVE TROUBLE PULLING AND START TO DECELERATE THEN ONCE I GOT UP THIS HILL IT WOULD ACCELERATE TO 80+ MILES PER HR. I HAVE READ QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE CONCERNING THE SAME THINGS ARE HAPPENING WHEN TRAVELING LONG HIGHWAY TRIPS . THIS MUST BE TAKEN CARE OF BY NISSAN BEFORE SOMEONE DIES OR SERIOUSLY INJURED.
THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ACCELERATION ONCE IT REACHES A CERTAIN HEAT WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION, CAUSING MY CAR TO DECELERATE RAPIDLY WITH NO OPTION TO ACCELERATE TO GET OUT OF HARM'S WAY. IT HAS NOW OCCURRED TWICE, PUTTING MYSELF AND PASSENGERS IN IMMINENT DANGER. NISSAN HAS SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2008 NISSAN ROGUE HAS A TENDENCY TO LOSE POWER ON THE HIGHWAY AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR OVER A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AT A CONSTANT SPEED, USUALLY ABOUT 45 MINUTES TO AN HOUR AT 75 MILES AN HOUR. THE VEHICLE WILL START MY MAKING A WEIRD WHISTLING OR WHINING NOISE THEN AFTER THAT YOU CANNOT ACCELERATE IT'LL BE STUCK AT WHATEVER SPEED YOUR GOING. WHEN I COME ACROSS A BRIDGE OR A HILL IT'LL SLOW DOWN A BIT THEN ACCELERATE ONCE I'M GOING DOWNHILL THEN STOP AT A SPECIFIC MPH, NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PRESS ON THE GAS IT WILL NOT GO ANY FURTHER. WHEN I OFF THE HIGHWAY AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TRY TO TAKE OFF AGAIN IT WILL NOT RESPOND RIGHT AWAY THEN IT WILL TAKE OFF WITH ME AS I'M PRESSING THE GAS, ALMOST RESULTING IN ME RUNNING INTO OTHER VEHICLES SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO NISSAN IT DOESN'T GIVE ANY ERROR CODES OR SHOW THAT ANYTHING IS WRONG. NISSAN CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT WILLING TO PAY SOMEONE TO GO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR OVER THAT LONG PERIOD OF TIME. I COMMUTE TO WORK AND CHURCH ON THE HIGHWAY FIVE TIMES A WEEK AND EXPERIENCE THIS JUST ABOUT EVERY SINGLE DAY. I DID HOWEVER TAKE THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE EXPERIENCE WHAT THE CAR IS DOING AND HE NOTICED NISSAN PUT TOO MUCH FLUID IN MY TRANSMISSION WHEN THEY REPLACED IT AFTER IT STOPPED ON ME PREVIOUSLY ON THE HIGHWAY, THAT DID SOLVE THE PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL MONTHS BUT NOW IT'S DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. I CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE THEY INFORM ME THERE'S NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. I DID A INTERNET SEARCH AND THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME STORY AND WAS EVEN COVERED BY THE NEWS STATION. ONE OTHER THING THEY ALL HAVE IN COMMON IS THAT NO ONE HAD THAT ISSUE FIX OR KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I RECENTLY RENT A VEHICLE BECAUSE I REFUSE TO LET MY WIFE AND ONE YEAR OLD IN THE CAR BY THEMSELVES. *TR
TWICE DURING APRIL 2014 MY 2008 ROGUE WAS AT THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE WHY PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THE CODE WAS IN THE PAST TENSE AND THEY COULD NOT DO ANY DIAGNOSTIC TESTING SINCE IT WAS NOT AN ACTIVE CODE (B1018). WITHOUT DOING ANY TESTING, I WAS TOLD THAT TO FIX THE PROBLEM THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT CUSHION ($2,500). WAS TOLD THAT NISSAN RECALL 2008-10-07 DID NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN USA CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON 4/22/14 AND REQUESTED THAT MY VEHICLE BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SINCE NISSAN IS AWARE OF PROBLEMS WITH AIRBAGS IN THE 2008 NISSAN ROGUES. NISSAN REFUSED MY REQUEST AND STATED THAT AIRBAGS ARE SECONDARY SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE DEFECT SINCE SEAT BELTS ARE CONSIDERED THE PRIMARY SAFETY FEATURE. AT THIS POINT I DON'T KNOW IF MY AIRBAG SYSTEM IS EVEN OPERATIONAL SINCE THE LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED. NISSAN HAS ISSUED RECALLS ON THE ROGUE AND OTHER MODELS FOR DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS SO I THINK THE PROBLEM IS IMPACTING MORE VEHICLES THAN THEY REALIZE AND I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD BE PAYING OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR. I OWN A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE WHICH I PURCHASED NEW. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS RECENTLY STARTED BLINKING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A FAILURE OF THE OCCUPANT PASSENGER SENSOR. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SAME MODEL YEAR FOR THE SAME ISSUE (CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V521000) BUT THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL IS THE EXACT SAME FAILURE EXPERIENCED IN THE VEHICLE. THEN THE DEALER TOLD US THAT IT WOULD COST AROUND $3000 TO REPAIR!!! WE HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN BUT SO FAR THEY HAVE NOT AGREED TO DO ANYTHING. SINCE DAY ONE, THE PASSENGER SENSOR HAS ALWAYS BEEN ERRATIC AND OFTEN WOULD NOT WORK WHEN A PASSENGER WAS IN THE SEAT. WE MENTIONED IT TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES BUT THEY NEVER AGREED TO FIX IT. NOW THE ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM IN THE CAR IN NOT FUNCTIONING AND IS CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
I WAS TURNING FROM A RESIDENTIAL STREET ONTO A MAIN ROAD, WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE THE CAR RED LINED, BUT DID NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GO 5-10 MILES AN HOUR. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER WITHOUT GETTING HIT AND HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND I WAS TOLD THIS HAD HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH THE CVT IN THE ROGUE. *TR
