I PURCHASED A CAR FROM GWINNETT PLACE NISSAN IN NOVEMBER 2013. IN MAY OF 2014 WHILE DRIVING MY CHILDREN TO DISNEY THE CAR STARTED TO DECREASE IN SPEED. I WAS DRIVING AT 75 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR STARTED DECREASING IN SPEED. MY CAR WENT FROM 75 TO 40 IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. ALTHOUGH I HAD THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, IT WOULDN'T PICK UP ANY SPEED. THANK GOD THERE WASN'T ANY ACCIDENT. I'VE SPOKEN TO NISSAN ABOUT THIS MANY TIMES AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE HANDLING THIS PROBLEM. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR NISSAN TO RECOGNIZE AND FIX THIS ISSUE. A FATAL ACCIDENT? *TR
I STARTED MY ROGUE AND LEFT A DRIVEWAY AS I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN ABOUT 2 MILES AHEAD THE CAR STALLED. I WAS STILL IN GEAR, THE ENGINE WAS OFF, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. AFTER STOPPING I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AFTER A FEW TRIES. THEN, FOR THE NEXT 2-4 MILES IT REVVED REALLY HIGH AND SEEM TO BE IN A RECOVER MODE AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GO OVER 40 MPH. THE SERVICE CENTER CAN'T REPLICATE AND CLAIMS THAT THE OIL WAS OVERFILLED. THERE WERE SOME CODES BUT THEY DIDN'T FEEL THOSE APPLIES TO THE INCIDENT THEREFORE THIS ISSUE ISN'T WARRANTED. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF, MY FAMILY, AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD THAT NISSAN REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR REMEDY. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED.
I BOUGHT NISSAN ROGUE 2010 WITH A CLEAN TITLE IN DECEMBER OF 2013. I STARTED HAVING SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR IN THE SPRING OF 2014. I BEGAN HEARING A WHINING SOUND ON ACCELERATION COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING ON LONG ROAD TRIPS. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UP UNTIL A YEAR LATER, WAS SUDDENLY UNABLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN GOING UP HILL OR DRIVING LONGER THAN 20 MILES. THE PEDAL WAS DOWN TO THE FLOOR BUT RATHER THAN PICK UP SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE AND WAS UNABLE TO REACH EVEN 40 MPH. IT STARTED HAPPENING MORE AND MORE OFTEN, AND I ALMOST GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES. I WENT TO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND FOUND OUT THAT NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THEIR CVTS AND THAT THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS/120,000 MPH. HOWEVER, THEY WERE REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO WAY TO DUPLICATE IT SINCE IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL MILES OF DRIVING AROUND TO NOTICE ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE WHINING SOUND AND VIBRATION ARE NORMAL I WAS TOLD. AFTER GOING TO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS MULTIPLE TIMES AND TALKING WITH NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES, IN DECEMBER 2016 I WAS FINALLY TOLD THAT THERE'S NO EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE NISSAN CANCELED MY CAR'S WARRANTY BACK IN 2014 BECAUSE OF A BRANDED TITLE. I CALLED DOL AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A MISTAKE DONE. THEY FIXED MY TITLE AND THERE'S NO BRAND ON IT. NOW I GOT A CALL FROM A NISSAN CUSTOMER AFFAIR REP MR DARIES WHO INFORMED ME THAT THEY ARE WORKING ON GETTING THE BRAND OFF OF MY TITLE AND IT SHOULD TAKE 4-6 WEEKS BUT THEY ARE TRYING TO EXPEDITE IT. HE PROMISED HE WOULD CALL ME REGULARLY WITH AN UPDATE. IT'S BEEN ALMOST TWO MONTHS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I CALLED SEVERAL TIMES LEAVING VOICEMAIL TO MR DARIES AND NEVER GOT A CALL BACK FROM HIM. I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE LONGER THAN 10 MILES WHEN MY CAR STARTS LOSING ACCELERATION AND HAS THIS HORRIBLE WHINING NOISE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT 75 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATED TO 10 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 NISSAN ROGUE S TRYING TO ENTER A MAIN HIGHWAY, THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND NO MATTER HOW MUCH GAS WAS GIVEN THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. AFTER SAFELY MAKING IT OFF THE HIGHWAY AT THE NEXT EXIT AND PULLING OVER, THE CAR WOULD STILL NOT GO OVER 5 MPH AND HAD NO REVERSE. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT WHICH COULD OF INJURED OR KILLED BOTH MY PASSENGERS AND I AND ANY OTHER MOTORIST APPROACHING ME AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER THE ROADWAY. *JS
GOING AT FREEWAY SPEED...COULD NOT ACCELERATE, NEITHER TO PASS NOR TO RECOVER FROM HAVING TO SLOW DOWN FOR TRAFFIC. WHEN PRESSING DOWN THE GAS PEDAL, NOTHING HAPPENED: NO ACCELERATION AND NO INCREASE IN RPM. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS GOING UP A HILL. NOW IT HAPPENS ANY TIME I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 30 MINUTES OR MORE, FLAT ROAD OR INCLINE. THE CAR DOES FINE INITIALLY AND DURING NORMAL STOP AND GO CITY DRIVING FOR SHORT DURATIONS. THOUGHT PERHAPS IT WAS A CLOGGING IN FUEL INJECTORS, SO CLEANED THEM OUT TO NO AVAIL. DEALER SAYS THEY "CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG." THIS IS A DANGEROUS FLAW THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY NISSAN!!!! *TR
WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP OR JUST SLOWING DOWN PERIOD THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT WANTS TO TURN OFF AND IT PUTTERS LIKE IT'S GOING TO TURN OFF. I HAVE TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO KEEP IT FROM TURNING OFF. NISSAN DEALER SAYS THE ENTIRE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR NEED TO BE REPLACED. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN OCT/2013 AND SHOULDN'T HAVE TO ABSORB THE HUGE COST FOR THIS. *TR
EVERY TIME I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, OR GO ONTO A FREEWAY, MY CAR CANNOT ACCELERATE AT THE PROPER SPEED WHEN PUSHING DOWN ON THE PEDDLE. THERE IS ABOUT A 5-10 SECOND DELAY TO GET IT TO THE CORRECT SPEED. I'VE BEEN HONKED AT AND I'VE BEEN ALMOST HIT BECAUSE OF THIS. I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND I'M SCARED THAT ONE OF THESE DAYS I'LL GET INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT. I FEEL UNSAFE AND IN DANGER BECAUSE OF THIS CAR. IT'S UNFORTUNATE BECAUSE I ALWAYS THOUGHT HIGHLY OF NISSAN.
SIGNIFICANT VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT HIGH SPEED. WOBBLING AND CAR SHAKES.. BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK ROTORS HAD TO BE RESUFACED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 24,000 MILES, SO WE ARE CONCERNED THAT SUCH A RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE CAR HAD THIS PROBLEM. AFTER SERVICING THE CAR, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS, BUT HAS BEEN REDUCED. WE NOTE THAT NISSAN HAS HAD MANY RECALLS FOR ROTOR PROBLEMS, BUT ON OTHER MODELS. WE FEEL THE ROGUE NEEDS TO BE EXAMINED AS WELL. *TR
I WAS WITH MY 2 SMALL KIDS AT A DRIVE THROUGH. I STEPPED ON THE GAS WITH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO/ MOVE UNTIL AFTER ABOUT 3SECS. THIS WAS SO SCARY IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SOMEONE TO HIT THE BACK OF MY CAR. AFTER THE THREE SECS THE CAR GETS GOING FAST THEN MAINTAINS NORMAL SPEED. I DROVE IT AGAIN TODAY THINKING IT COULD BE THE GAS I HAD PUT IT SO I RAN THE GAS OUT TO ALMOST EMPTY AND PUT IN NEW GAS. AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM. WILL TAKE IT TO THE SHOP IF NOT RESOLVED A CLASS ACTION SUIT WILL BE THE NEXT STEP. MY KIDS LIFE AND MINE ARE AT STAKE HER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A RESIDENTIAL GARAGE, SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE PASSENGER'S SIDE VENTS AND THE DASH BOARD BECAME MELTED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND ADVISED THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY FAILED TO ACCELERATE PAST 65 MPH AND THE RPMS WOULD NOT INCREASE PAST 3,000. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND OCCURRED AFTER DRIVING FOR MORE THAN ONE HOUR. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS MORE SEVERE WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT RECENTLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO ANY OTHER GEAR. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000. UPDATED 3/14/14*CN
PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR NOT WORKING PROPERLY'WILL RANDOMLY STOP WORKING WITH 175LB PASSENGER BUT YET WORKS WITH 30LB BAG PLACED ON SEAT. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND CAN HAPPEN ON CITY STREETS AS WELL AS HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS ISSUE IS STILL OCCURRING. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED USED WITH 30,000 MILES IN JANUARY 2014. MOST OF THE TIME I DO NOT HAVE A PASSENGER BUT I'D LIKE THEM TO BE PROTECTED WHEN I DO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO 90 MPH. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT THEN REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND APPLIED THE BRAKES, AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE POWER TRAIN WAS DEFECTIVE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER TRAIN BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. GAS PEDAL WOULD BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND RPM'S WOULD NOT EXCEED 3000RPM. WHEN FOOT WAS TAKEN OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR AND PUSHED BACK TO FLOOR BOARD, RPM'S WOULD INCREASE TO 3000 AND THEN DECREASE BACK DOWN TO 2500 RPM. VEHICLE WOULD START TO DECREASE IN SPEED EVEN THOUGH GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. THE FIRST 4-5 TIMES THIS HAPPENED THE POWER LOSS WAS FROM 75 TO 55-60 OR SO MPH AND IF THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED IT RESET. THE LAST TIME IT WOULD GO AROUND 70 DOWNHILL BUT ONLY 20-30 UPHILL AND IT WOULD NOT RESET UPON RESTART. AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES IT FINALLY RESET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE OCCUPANCY SENSOR WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE SECOND TIME WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE FAULTY FRONT PASSENGER'S OCCUPANCY SENSOR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ROUTE 46 IN LITTLE FALLS, NJ DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. LUCKILY THE IT HAPPENED WHILE IN THE RIGHT LANE SO MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD QUICKLY BUT HAD NO FORWARD POWER. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO ACME NISSAN IN SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAILED TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION. MY WIFE'S COMMUTE IS RATHER FAR AT 80+ MILES ROUND TRIP A DAY BUT IT IS ALMOST ALL ON HIGHWAYS. FOR A CAR TO HAVE A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION AT SPEED ON A CROWDED HIGHWAY WAT THIS AGE/MILEAGE OUT OF THE BLUE IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE.
WHILE DRIVING OUR NISSAN ROGUE ON THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO DECELERATE EVEN WITH THE ACCELERATOR FULLY ENGAGED. OUR VEHICLE HAS GONE FROM 70MPH TO 10MPH ON THE HIGHWAY SEVERAL TIMES. THERE IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING US WE NEED TO DO A FULL TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH ON THE VEHICLE EVERY YEAR. WE PAID TO HAVE THIS DONE IN AUGUST OF 2013 WHEN IT FIRST STARTED HAPPENING AND IT STILL CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. WE ARE SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS TO GO FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO BARELY BEING ABLE TO ROLL INTO A PARKING LONG WITHIN A MATTER OF MINUTES. *TR
MY CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I HAD ARRIVED HOME AT 3:30PM ON A SATURDAY. THE NEXT MORNING AT 10:00AM, I WENT TO MY CAR TO FIND THAT SOMETHING HAD EXPLODED INSIDE. THERE HAD BEEN A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FIRE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE, INCLUDING THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT, THE DASH, AND THE LOCATION OF THE AIRBAG. MY BEST GUESS AS TO WHAT HAPPENED IS THAT THE AIRBAG EXPLODED (NOT DEPLOYED), CAUSING A FIRE, WHICH DAMAGED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, AND CAUSED A LOT OF COSMETIC DAMAGE. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF THE AIRBAG, OTHER THAN SOME SPRINGS, IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT SIMPLY DEPLOYED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAS DEEMED IT A TOTAL LOSS. I FEEL THAT THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NISSAN SHOULD COVER, NOT ME OR MY INSURANCE COMPANY. BUT I CANNOT DETERMINE WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED OR HOW TO PURSUE LEGAL ACTION AGAINST THEM. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS INJURED. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THE DIRE WAS SELF-CONTAINED, AND THE ENTIRE CAR DIDN'T EXPLODE. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND HEARD A GRINDING NOISE ON THE CAR. I ALSO NOTICED CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE AT OPTIMAL SPEED WHEN GAS PEDAL PRESSED TO KEEP UP WITH TRAFFIC. IT FELT SLUGGISH AND AS IT WAS LOSING POWER. I TURNED OFF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM AND THE CAR STARTED CONDENSATING THROUGH THE EVENTS. NONE OF MY PREVIOUS CAR HAVE DONE THAT BEFORE. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR DRIVE THE CARS HOOD WAS EXTREMELY HOT YOU COULD BARELY TOUCH IT. I FELT SCARED FOR MY FAMILY AS THIS CAR DOES NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL. DEALER IS NOT TAKING IT BACK AND I'VE NOW HAD THIS TROUBLED CAR 20 DAYS BUT THEY WON'T ADMIT IT'S DEFECTIVE. THEY SAID THEY CAN CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION BUT ONLY BECAUSE ITS UNDER WARRANTY. NISSAN NEEDS TO RECALL ALL CVT CARS. *TT
MY 2010 NISSAN ROGUE STOPPED ACCELERATING PROPERLY ON A HIGHWAY. I COULD NOT PROPERLY MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. VERY SCARY!!! I MADE IT HOME AND THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. IT THEN BEGAN STALLING PERIODICALLY, AND THE ACCELERATION ISSUE CONTINUED. WE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT 78K! FLAGS FORWARD 46K MORE MILES ON REPLACED TRANSMISSION,...THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED AND WAS WORSE! NISSAN WON'T REPLACE THIS ONE AND WAS VERY RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND WON'T SEMI THE PROBLEM AND SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS WAS MY THIRD NISSAN, BUT MY OTHER TWO WERE MURANOS AND NEVER HAD AN ISSUE. MY EXPERIENCE HERE WAS SO SCARY AND SO DISAPPOINTING WITH NISSANS DISMISSAL OF THIS SERIOUS ISSUE THAT WE WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER AND WILL TELL ALL OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TOO. YOU SHOULD NOT BUY FROM NISSAN AS THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS!
I WAS GOING HOME FROM WORK LIKE EVERYDAY I DRIVE 40 MILES ONE WAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WHEN I LEFT THE HIGHWAY I CAME TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT SO I WAS WAITING THERE AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL LIKE I NORMALLY DO AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND AND THEN STARTED GOING BUT VERY SLOW I WAS AFRAID I WAS GONNA BE STUCK AT THAT INTERSECTION,AND THEN I LET GO OF THE GAS AND PUSHED THE GAS AGAIN AND THE CAR STARTEDGOING LIKE IF IT WAS AWAKENING AND THEN IT WAS GOING NORMAL AGAIN,SINCE THEN THAT HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES BUT THE OTHER TIMES WERE MORE SCARY BECAUSE I WAS AT STOP SIGNS AND WHEN I TRIED TO GO AFTER A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR WAS GOING VERY SLOW AGAIN AND I WAS LUCKY THAT I DIDN'T GET HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC,I CONTACTED THE DEALER BUT THEY WONT DO ANYTHING UNLESS THEY SEE THE CODE OR THEIR MECHANICS REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM

I HAD BEEN DRIVING MY ROGUE AND MY KIDS AND I WERE GOING HOME. I WAS IN A LEFT TURN LANE IN A BUSY INTERSECTION AND HALFWAY THROUGH I LOST POWER. I BARELY MADE IT OUT OF THE INTERSECTION, AND AFTER A MINUTE THE CAR WENT BACK TO NORMAL. IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW AND THE SECOND TIME WAS WORSE THAN THE FIRST. NISSAN SYS THERE'S NOTHING WRONG.. WE DID HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED AT THEIR RECOMMENDATION. *TR
THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED LAST SUMMER. WHILE GOING UP A HILL AT 75MPH (SPEED LIMIT IN THAT STATE), THE CRUISE CONTROL CUT OFF, AND VEHICLE LOST POWER, AND RPM'S WOULD NOT EXCEED 2500 RPM AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 60MPH, WHICH EVERY TIME I HIT A HILL, WOULD DECREASE TO 40MPH. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN THE NEXT TWO HOURS, WHERE RPM'S WOULD NOT EXCEED 2500 RPM, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN SEMI-TRUCKS ARE BEHIND YOU. A SEARCH ONLINE STATED THIS WAS THE TRANSMISSION GOING INTO FAIL-SAFE MODE, ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP STATED NO, BECAUSE A CODE WOULD COME BACK. FOR ALMOST A YEAR, I WOULD NOT TAKE MY CAR OUT OF TOWN FOR WORK, FOR FEAR THIS WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. DECIDED TO TAKE IT ON A LONG ROAD TRIP THIS AUGUST, AND AGAIN, THE SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED. THIS TIME, THE ONLY WAY TO GET RPM'S AND MPH'S BACK, WAS TO PULL OVER AND LET THE CAR SIT FOR 20 MINUTES OR SO. IT WOULD THEN DRIVE NORMAL FOR ANYWHERE FROM 30 MIN-1 HOUR, BEFORE LOOSING POWER AGAIN. TOOK IT INTO DEALERSHIP UPON ARRIVING HOME, AND THIS TIME, THERE IS A BULLETIN FOR THE TRANSMISSION FLUID OVERHEATING, AND IT NEEDS A COOLER, TO THE TUNE OF $1,400 AND IS 2 MONTHS BACKORDERED. I WAS TOLD THIS PROBLEM WOULD ONLY OCCUR ON LONG ROAD TRIPS, AND I WOULD BE FINE TAKING IT ON A 5 HR TRIP THAT WEEKEND. COME 3 DAYS LATER, 45 MINUTES INTO THE TRIP, THE CRUISE CONTROL CUT OFF, BEGAN BLINKING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND RPM'S DECREASED TO BTWN 2000-2500. PULLED OVER TO LET IT COOL, AND THEN IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 40MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. DECIDED TO TURN BACK AROUND, AND 3 TIMES ON THE WAY HOME (APPX. EVERY 15 MINUTES), I LOST ALL POWER. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT THE RPM'S WOULD NOT GO OVER 0, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. HAD TO LET IT SIT FOR 15-20 MINUTES EACH TIME, AND THEN WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 15 MIN, BEFORE LOOSING ALL POWER AGAIN. TOOK IT INTO AUTO SHOP, AND CODE READS, "P1778", WHICH IS "STEP-MOTOR MALFUNCTION". *TR
THE FIRST INCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON 06/03/13, THE SECOND INCIDENT ON 08/24/13 AND THE THIRD INCIDENT ON 12/22/13. ALL 3 INCIDENTS WERE ROAD TRIPS WHERE THE PROBLEM APPEARED ON THE INTERSTATE AFTER HAVING BEEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF OR SO. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF ~70-80 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED BUT THE 2ND AND 3RD INCIDENTS OCCURRED WITH AND WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED. ON THE 2ND AND 3RD INCIDENTS, WHEN WE EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND CAME TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT WE ALSO EXPERIENCED AN ACCELERATION ISSUE WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. IN THESE INSTANCES, I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR DID NOT MOVE FORWARD, FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS, AND THEN SPUTTERED BEFORE FINALLY ACCELERATING NORMALLY. AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM, ONLINE, AND SAW NUMEROUS POSTS WITH OTHER ROGUE OWNERS HAVING SIMILAR IF NOT IDENTICAL PROBLEMS. I PLANNED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT, SINCE THE PROBLEM NEVER OCCURRED ON LOCAL/IN-TOWN DRIVING, I PROCRASTINATED. AFTER THIS LATEST INCIDENT I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO OUR DEALER - AUTONATION NISSAN PEMBROKE PINES - ON 12/24/2013. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO JAY, OUR SERVICE ADVISOR, WHO HAD A TECHNICIAN CHECK OUT THE CAR. HE SAID A TRANSMISSION CODE, <P0744>, CAME UP IN THE DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, NISSAN INSTITUTED A NEW POLICY ON THAT DATE WHICH REQUIRED THE DEALERSHIP REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BEFORE NISSAN WOULD AUTHORIZE THE REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM WITH LOCAL DRIVING AND WOULD NOT ALLOW A TECH TO TAKE IT ON A LONG TRIP. I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS BUT THEY WERE NO HELP. THE END RESULT IS THAT I HAVE A CAR THAT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED & THAT I CAN'T DRIVE ON LONG TRIPS. *TR
TWO MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR AT CORAL SPRINGS NISSAN, FL. I WAS DRIVING TO MIAMI WHEN THE CAR LOOSE POWER FROM 70 MPH WENT TO 40 MPH THE CAR COULD NOT ACCELERATE ANYMORE IT WAS VERY SCARY. THIS PROBLEM ONLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU DRIVE FOR MORE THAN 1 HOUR. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ONLY DID A TEST DRIVE FOR MAYBE 30 MINUTES. ONE YEAR AFTER THE INITIAL PROBLEM THE CAR LOOSE POWER QUITE OFTEN I ONLY NEED TO DRIVE LESS THAN 30 MINUTES, AND THE CAR CANNOT ACCELERATE IS LIKE IT GOES TO NEUTRAL WHEN I AM AT THE STOP SIGN, MAKING AN U-TURN, A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN. I AM AFRAID TO HAVE A CAR ACCIDENT. I AM VERY SURPRISE AFTER READING OTHERS COMPLAINTS THAT NISSAN HAS NOT TAKE ANY ACTION TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE STOP LIGHT SWITCH IN THE COMPUTERIZED ENGINE OF MY ROGUE. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IN A NORMAL TIME FRAME FROM 0-15 MILES PER HOUR, 6-7 SECONDS TO RESPOND. IT WOULD NOT MAINTAIN SPEEDS OVER 60 MILES AN HOUR, SLOWING DOWN WITHOUT ANY CONTROL OVER IT. IT WOULD NOT RESPOND PROPERLY WHEN I PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR. I TOOK A TRIP TO CHICAGO GOING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS IN TENNESSEE. AS I WAS GOING UP THE MOUNTAIN MY 2010 NISSAN ROGUE BEGIN TO SLOW DOWN, DISENGAGE FROM MY CRUISE CONTROL NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESS THE PETAL MY CAR WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER. THIS OCCURS THROUGH OUT THE TRIP TO CHICAGO AND LATER TO NORTH CAROLINA. BEFORE TAKING THE TRIPS I HAD MY CTV LIGHT COME ON AND THE CAR WOULD ALMOST CUT OFF OR STALL WHEN I CAME TO A STOP. I TOOK THAT IN TO MY NISSAN PERSON WHO FIX THAT PROBLEM BUT COULD NOT FIX MY NEW PROBLEM BUT REFERRED ME TO MY DEALER. HE STATED THAT NISSAN WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION AND HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY UP TO 120,000.00. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERS BUT THEY WOULD ONLY DRIVE IT AROUND THE BLOCK, NO LIGHT WOULD COME, NO CODE TO FIX. I TOOK IT OUT OF TOWN ON A BUSINESS TRIP 200 MILES FROM HOME..ONLY TO HAVE IT START ACTING UP ABOUT 2HOURS FROM MY DESTINATION. GOING UP HILLS, MY CAR LOST POWER, WOULD NO LONGER GO ABOVE 60MPH(NOT TOO SAFE LOOSING POWER LIKE THAT WHEN THE SPEED LIMIT IS 75MPH). YOU COULD PUSH THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ANYMORE..AND THE RPM'S WOULD NOT EXCEED 2. THIS HAPPENED 2 TIMES IN THE NEXT 2 HOURS...WOULD LAST ABOUT 12-20 MINUTES, AND THEN, POWER WOULD COME BACK, THIS SAME THING HAPPENED 5 MORE TIMES IN MY NEXT TO TRIPS, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY BLAMED NISSAN FOR THE TYPE OF TRANSMISSION USE IN THIS TYPE OF CARS. THIS IS NOT SAFE. IN ALL THE TIMES I LOST POWER GOING UP-HILL, AND IN THOSE OCCASIONS THERE WAS SOMEONE BEHIND ME. EVERY TIME HAD TO QUICK SWERVE AROUND ME, TO AVOID REAR-ENDING ME AT 75MPH, AS I LOST POWER DOWN TO -60MPH. *TR
I WAS DRIVING WHEN I SUDDENLY NOTICED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY THEN THE ENGINE SPLUTTERED AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED AND I HAD TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. I PARKED ON THE ROADSIDE WHEN ABLE TO AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND REGAINED SPEED BUT THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS NOT RESPONSIVE HOWEVER WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE ENGINE SPLUTTERED AGAIN AND HAD TO PARK AND CALLED FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE DIAGNOSIS FROM NISSAN WAS THAT THE RADIATOR HAD A "HOLE" IN IT AND WARRANTY DID NOT COVER AS THE MILEAGE HAD EXCEEDED 36,000. I WAS PUZZLED WHY THE RADIATOR OF A RELATIVELY NEW CAR WITHOUT ANY FOREWARNING WOULD DEVELOP THIS KIND OF PROBLEM AND I WAS NOT PREPARED TO PAY THE HIGH REPAIR COST, WHICH CONVINCED THERE MAY BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE RADIATOR FROM THE MANUFACTURER.
WE TRAVEL TO ORLANDO WHICH IS A 3 HOUR DRIVE WE GO 4 TIMES A YEAR AND THE ROGUE FAILS ON US AT LEAST 4 TIMES EVERY TRIP. AFTER AN HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY ARE VEHICLE STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE WE GO FROM 80 TO 60 AND CAR FEELS LIKE IT STRUGGLES WITH THE PEDEL TO THE FLOOR. ALSO WHEN THE AC IS ON AND WE ARE AT A LIGHT THE CAR TRYS TO STALL. AND THE AIRBAGS ARE DEFECTIVE THE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOESN'T RECOGNIZE ANYONE IN THE SEAT AND THE ONE ON THE DASH JUST BLINKS. I'M AFRAID THEY WON'T DEPLOY IF IN AN ACCIDENT. WHEN THE CVT TRANSMISSION GETS HOT THE POWER FROM ENGINE TO TRANSMISSION BEGINS TO REDUCE. THIS SAFETY FEATURE LEADS TO MASSIVE FUEL CONSUMPTION AS WELL AS COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS CAUSED MYSELF TO BE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THIS "SAFETY FEATURE" DIDN'T START DOING THIS UNTIL 50 MILES PAST THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. AT FIRST IT WOULD TAKE HOURS OF DRIVING BEFORE THIS WOULD HAPPEN AND IT SEEMS LIKE EACH TIME IT HAPPENED IT TOOK LESS AND LESS DRIVING TIME BEFORE IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. CURRENTLY MY ROGUE IS AROUND 150K MILES AND I CAN'T GO MORE THAN 20 MILES BEFORE IT HAPPENS. I TOOK THE ROGUE INTO SHOPS FOR A FULL TUNE-UP EVERY30K MILES TRYING TO BE SURE IT LAST FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE, SO I KNOW IT ISN'T AN ISSUE OF NEGLECT. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM AND ALL I HAVE FOUND ARE THOUSANDS OF OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. SOME OWNERS HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM BEGIN AS EARLY AS THE 10K MARK. SINCE THE INTRODUCTION OF THE CVT TRANSMISSION EVERY VEHICLE IT IS USED IN HAS THIS PROBLEM. NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IT CAUSES A DEATH FROM PURE NEGLECT ON THEIR PART. SHORTLY AFTER I TOOK THIS OFF A LOT IN 2012, I EXPERIENCED A DECELERATION ON THE HIGHWAY. I LIVE IN ARIZONA, SO TRAVELING FROM PHOENIX TO FLAGSTAFF IS AT AN INCLINE AT PHOENIX IS ROUGHLY 3000 FEET ABOVE SEA LEVEL AND FLAGSTAFF IS 7000. THE INCLINE HAPPENS JUST OVER 140 MILES, SO IT'S QUITE A CLIMB. THE CAR LOSSES ALL ACCELERATION ABILITY ON EACH AND EVERY INCLINE, FORCING ME TO FIND A SHOULDER (IF I CAN), WHERE I HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES BEFORE TRYING AGAIN. MAGICALLY, THE CAR REGAINS SOME ACCELERATION, BUT IT QUICKLY HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS DUE THE THE CLIFF EDGES OR ROCK WALLS THAT LINE THIS ROAD. WHEN I COME TO A ALMOST SUDDEN STOP ON THIS TWO LANE HIGHWAY WHEN I JUST WENT AROUND A BLIND CORNER, THAT MEANS THAT I DON'T HAVE TIME TO ALERT THE CARS BEHIND ME THAT I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE HAD MANY CLOSE ENCOUNTERS LIKE THIS. I HAVE TRIED TO ASK THE DEALERS, MECHANICS AND TALK FORUMS ON THE SITUATION. THOUGH MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS VERY PROBLEM, NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON. I HAVE RESORTED TO DRIVE IT IN THE CITY AND TAKE AN OLD, BUT MUCH MORE RELIABLE SUBARU FORESTER ON THESE TRIPS INSTEAD. THIS NISSAN HAS BEEN A THORN IN MY SIDE SINCE I PURCHASED IT, BUT I SEEM TO BE STUCK WITH IT. I HAVE TRIED TO CLEAN THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, BUT IT DIDN'T HELP AT ALL. THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE CAN'T EVEN MAKE IT UP AN ICY INCLINE. I HATE THIS CAR.

WHILE LEAVING THE PALM SPRINGS AREA, VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING IN HEAT EXCEEDING 95 DEGREES. AFTER EXITING FREEWAY, VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND CARS EXITING THE FREEWAY AT HIGHER RATES OF SPEED HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID MY VEHICLE. NISSAN HAS REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION ON THREE OCCASIONS AND EACH TIME THE PROBLEM HAS RECURRED. *TR
WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE THE SMELL SMOKE WAS EMANATING. AT ONCE THE HOOD POPPED OPENED AND FIRE ENSUED FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE NEAR THE HEADLIGHTS FIRE WAS BEGINNING TO SPREAD. 2010 ROGUE HAS REPEATED PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION. SPECIFICALLY FROM A STOPPED POSITION. AND WHEN ON A HILL, IF YOU ARE STOPPED, IT WON'T ACCELERATE AT ALL, EVEN WHEN PUSHING DRIVING PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. ON TOP OF THIS, IT NOW WILL NOT HOLD A CRUISE WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON THE INTERSTATE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT FROM A STOPPED POSITION WITHOUT A GREEN ARROW. THIS IS APPARENTLY, ACCORDING TO COMPLAINTS, A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. HAVE CALLED DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES TO SCHEDULE SERVICE AND TELL THEM ABOUT THIS MAJOR PROBLEM ONLY TO BE TOLD I WOULD GET A CALL BACK WITH NO CALL-BACK. AFTER DRIVING APPROX 200 MILES, FUEL GAUGE READS FULL FOR GAS TANK. IS NOT REDUCING THE READING OF THE GAS REMAINING TO FILL UP ACCURATELY. THERE HAVE BEEN EMAILS WITH THIS PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL SINCE 2008, MOST RECENTLY A SPECIFIC ONE HAD TO BE CHANGED 3 TIMES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, UP BRIDGES AND HILLS. THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE. STAYS AT 2RPM EVEN WHILE PEDAL IS PRESSED ALL THE WAY. VEHICLE CANT PASS 70 MPH ON LONG DRIVES AND RPM STAYS AT 2RPM. THE CAR STARTS SLOWING DOWN TO ALMOST 50 MPH FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME. THEN WHEN OFF THE HIGHWAY TO SEE THE ISSUE THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. TURNING OFF THE CAR AND LET IT REST FOR 10 MIN IS THE ONLY SOLUTION. BUT 30 MIN BACK IN THE ROAD SAME PROBLEM OCCURS. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND NOT SAFE. I READ MANY FORUMS AND ALSO THE NISSAN TITANS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I NEED SERIOUS HELP. STOPPED AT AUTO ZONE TO READ THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE TRANSMISSION AND SPEED CONTROL CODES CAME UP. MY CAR'S TRANSMISSION FAILED WHILE DRIVING HOME. I HAVE A LONG COMMUTE TO AND FROM WORK. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME AT 20 MILES AN HOUR AND WAS NOT HIT BY A TRACTOR TRAILER. I RECENTLY HAD SOME WORK DONE TO THE CAR AND BOUGHT NISSAN PARTS, I BOUGHT 4 SPARK PLUGS AND ALL 4 WERE BROKEN/DEFECTIVE. DRIVING FROM DENVER TO SUMMIT COUNTY UP 1-70 THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 3000 RPM DURING CLIMBING CAUSING RAPID SLOWING ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY. IT HAS NOW HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND EVERY TIME SINCE I'VE DRIVEN UP THERE SINCE MAY. TWICE I'VE HAD IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO CLAIMED IT WAS DUE TO HIGH TRANSMISSION FLUID (WHICH HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED SINCE PURCHASE). IT HAS BEEN LOWERED TWICE. THE LAST TIME THIS OCCURRED IT WAS SO BAD THAT I PULLED OFF AT AN EXIT FOR FEAR OF SAFETY. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND LET IT REST FOR A FEW MINUTES. STARTED IT BACK UP AND ATTEMPTED TO DO A U-TURN. WITH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR THE VEHICLE ONLY INCHED ALONG LEAVING ME STRANDED ACROSS THE ROAD AND VULNERABLE TO A CRASH IF ANOTHER VEHICLE HAD COME ALONG. *TR
AIRBAG SYSTEM GOES OFF (INDICATOR LIGHT COME ON) WHILE HAVING A PASSENGER WEIGHT ABOUT 115LB IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. CALLED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD THE WEIGHT LIMIT FOR SENSOR TO COME ON IS AROUND 110LB. SERVICE PERSON SUGGESTED SHIFTING THE POSITION OR POSTURE OF THE PASSENGER WOULD RESOLVE. IT IS BAD IDEA TO HAVE YOUR LOVE ONES WHO IS ROUND 110 LB NOT TO BE ABLE TO SIT IN THE FRONT. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP BEFORE WE BOUGHT THE CAR. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THEY REFUSED TO SERVICE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE MILEAGE BEING OVER 80,000. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
