WEDNESDAY AUGUST 7, 2019, I PARKED MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT IN FULL SUN AT 11:30 A.M. WHEN I CAME BACK OUT TO MY CAR AND GOT IN, I NOTICED SMOKE COMING UP FROM WHAT LOOKED TO BE FROM THE FLOOR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. I'M NOT SURE WHAT I USED TO EXTINGUISH IT AS I WAS ON EMERGENCY MODE. I DO REMEMBER THAT I MADE SURE IT WASN'T FLAMMABLE. THE SUN WAS COMING THROUGH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. IT APPEARS THAT THE SUN WAS REFLECTING LIGHT FROM A MIRROR AT THE FRONT OF THE BOTTOM SEAT. IT WAS THE PART THAT WOULD BE AT A PASSENGER'S LOWER LEGS. THERE WAS A BLACK SMOKING OVAL HOLE THAT WAS DEEP ENOUGH THAT IT PENETRATED NOT ONLY THE LEATHER BUT THROUGH THE FOAM. I DIDN'T SEE A FLAME. THIS OCCURRED IN NASHVILLE, TN. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES LATELY WITH MY TRANSMISSION AND NOW,IT'S SITTING IN A PARKING LOT WITH ME HAVING TO LEAVE IT THERE AS IT LOST ITS POWER TO EVEN MOVE!! I HAD SERVICE COMPLETED & HAVE ALWAYS KEPT THIS VEHICLE UP AND EVEN HAD THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CHECKED THIS TIME AND NOW THAT IT'S NOT DRIVABLE,I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH ON CAR COMPLAINTS.COM AND EDWARDS.COM AND SEE SO MANY COMPLAINTS,IT'S SICKENING. MY CARS TRANSMISSION IS MAKING A WEIRD SOUND WHEN I TURN IT IN AND WHILE ME DRIVING IT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MPH WHEN SUDDENLY THE ACCELERATION DROPPED DOWN TO 20-25 MPH IN TRAFFIC WITH OTHER CARS SPEEDING TOWARD ME BUT WHEN I TRY AND ACCELERATE, THE RPM GO UP, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AS MY TRANSMISSION FAILED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, WITH NO WARNING PUTTING MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHERS AT THE HIGHWAY IN GRAVE DANGER. I WENT TO MECHANICS THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAVE A CVT TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND THAT NISSAN IS FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL THIS PROBLEM IS PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK.
CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION)CVT FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW. I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WHEN MY ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. THE ENGINE RPMS SHOT UP BUT MY CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I TOOK THE CAR TO A NEARBY NISSAN DEALER TO BE INSPECTED. THE SERVICE PERSON THERE SAID THE CVT FLUID WAS OVERHEATING CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO BASICALLY START SLIPPING. HE COULDN'T TELL ME WHY THE CVT FLUID WAS OVERHEATING BUT HE SAID HE COULD INSTALL AN EXTERNAL TRANSMISSION COOLER (FOR $1300) THAT NISSAN MADE FOR THE VEHICLE THAT MAY ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM OR REPLACE THE CVT. I HAD THEM INSTALL THE COOLER AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. OBVIOUSLY NISSAN KNOWS THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THEIR CVTS AND THEY DESIGNED A SOLUTION THAT THEY ARE MAKING CUSTOMERS PAY FOR TO HAVE THEIR VEHICLES RETURNED TO A DRIVABLE CONDITION. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER COULD BE A SAFETY PROBLEM IF IT HAPPENED DURING HIGHWAY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I WAS ON AN 8-LANE INTERSTATE IN TEXAS WHEN IT HAPPENED TO ME BUT LUCKILY IT WASN'T RUSH HOUR AND I WAS ABLE TO MOVE ALL THE WAY OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE AND TAKE AN EXIT OFF THE HIGHWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN OF LAWTON (580-353-2244, LOCATED AT 201 W GORE BLVD, LAWTON, OK 73501) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.
THE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 113,000 MILES WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHICH RESULTED IN US ALMOST GETTING INTO MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS. WE HAD GOTTEN THE ENGINE SERVICED EVERY 3,000 MILES FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS SO THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUE TO NEGLECT.
CVT failed while on the interstate (70mph) and vehicle stopped accelerating. Gas pedal was unresponsive and the car rapidly slowed down while I attempted to to pull over on the side of the road. Cars surrounding were forced to brake, maneuver around. My 3 year old was also in the car. The issue was confirmed by the dealer as an issue with the CVT. There were recalls to transmissions in rogues made prior (2008-2010) and for years made after (2015?). I had the valve replaced per recommendation 2 years ago, and now I am dealing with the same issue for a second time. I attempted to pull out of my driveway, but 20ft out the car stopped accelerating again.
LABOR DAY LAST YEAR, WE WERE DRIVING DOWN AN OLD RURAL ROAD, JUST GOT DONE PASSING A CAR AND THEN OUR ROGUE SOUNDED LIKE IT REVVING THE ENGINE, THEN NEXT THING WE KNOW IT DIED AT 65 MPH WITH ONLY 102,000 MILES ON IT. $1000 ENGINE LATER WE FIXED IT. NOW, LAST WEEK ON MY WAY TO WORK, TRYING TO GET UP TO 60 MPH ON HIGHWAY AND IT REVS UP TO 4 GRAND AND WILL NOT SHIFT. WE LIMP IT HOME. THOUGHT NEEDED TRANNY FLUID SO WE ADD SOME. THAT FRIDAY WE TAKE ON A 2 1/2 ROAD TRIP, WE HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 40 MPH FOR CONSTRUCTION AND THEN ACCELERATE WHEN CONSTRUCTION WAS DONE. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IT REVVED UP TO 4 GRAND AGAIN. WHEN WE TRIED TO GET UP A HILL, ON A FREEWAY MIND YOU, WE HAD THE GAS PEDAL PEGGED AND IT CLIMBED THE HILL AT 20 MPH. THIS WAS ON A FREEWAY VERY DANGEROUS!! WE LIMPED IT TO A GAS STATION AND PARKED FOR AWHILE TO GET IT COOLED DOWN. WHEN TO MOVE IT AND ABSOLUTELY NO ACCELERATION IT WOULD NOT MOVE. NISSAN SHE RECALL THIS WHOLE [XXX] CAR AND GIVE US OUR MONEY BACK. THE CVT IS JUNK AND THEY HAVE RECALLED PRIOR YEARS. 2012 AND NEWER NEED TO BE RECALLED AS WELL. MY CARS TRANSMISSION IS MAKING A WEIRD RAINING SOUND WHEN I TURN IT IN AND DRIVE IT, I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR NISSAN CARS FOR THE CVT TRANSMISSION WONDERING IF MINE IS COVERED.
I WAS HEARING A STRANGE NOISE WHEN I WOULD TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE EXCELERATOR I WOULD HEAR ANY LOUD FLUTTERING SOUND. BROUGHT IT INTO NISSAN SERVICE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE. AS A RESEARCHED I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN MY VEHICLE THAT ENDED UP AS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH MINE WAS CAUGHT BEFORE I HAD A SERIOUS ACCIDENT THEY COST FOR A REPAIR IS OVER $3500. IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WHY IS NISSAN STILL PUTTING THESE CARS ON THE ROAD WITH THIS PROBLEM?
THIS HAPPENED BACKING ONTO A PUBLIC STREET. THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE IN A CONTINUOUS MOVEMENT FORWARD OR BACKWARD. THE VEHICLE MOVED AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN ROGUE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ROCKLAND NISSAN (608 NY-303, BLAUVELT, NY 10913, (845) 358-6700) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE BETWEEN 70-80MPH MY VEHICLE DROPPED TO 60MPH AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 60MPH, THEN WHEN PULLING OFF AN EXIT SCARED IT WOULDN'T GO PAST 20MPH. THIS PUT MY SON AND I'S SAFETY AT SERIOUS RISK WITH HAVING NO CONTROL OVER ACCELERATION. I GOT TO A MECHANIC WHICH DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND TOLD ME IT WAS TORQUE CONVERTER WITH TRANSMISSION. THE CAR ONLY HAS 65K MILES. THIS IS INSANE TO HAVE THESE ISSUES AND CLEARLY THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. I FORTUNATELY PURCHASED A TRANSMISSION WARRANTY. WAITING TO SEE WHAT THE TOTAL DAMAGE IS. THIS SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE A SAFETY RECALL.
WHEN RUNNING MAKE A BIG RADDLING NOISE AND GETS LOUD WHEN DRIVING. SO STOPPED DRIVING IT
MY SIDE-SEAT PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR - LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT - KEEPS TURNING OFF. THIS SENSOR HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR 2013 MODELS. WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY - OR RECALLED FOR 2012 - AND THE COST IS EXTREMELY PROHIBITIVE AND EXORBITANT SINCE IT CANNOT BE FIXED UNLESS YOU PURCHASE A NEW SEAT FOR $2,600.00. THIS SETS UP FOR AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES AND THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FILED FOR THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE.
THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT IS BLINKING THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE THE MODULE. I HAVE LOOKED IN THE INTERNET AND I HAVE THAT THE MODULE IS A PROBLEM ON NISSAN VEHICLES. THE LIGHT IS ALWAYS BLINKING.
MY CAR FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO A DEFECTIVE MASS AIR FLOW. I HAVE JUST CHANGED THE MASS AIR FLOW, AND MY CAR STILL CONTINUES TO SHOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE DRIVES REALLY SLOW THE GAS MILEAGE IS TERRIBLE,
MY NISSAN ROGUE 2012 CAUGHT FIRE. UPON STARTING THE CAR WHEN THE IGNITION TURNED OVER, THE IGNITION COIL CAUGHT FIRE! THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND IN THE SHOP AND I HAD BROUGHT IT IN AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. THE MECHANIC STATED IT STEEMED FROM THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS. THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL FOR NISSAN ROGUE INVOLVING A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS FROM 3/7/07-11/26/13. I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INVOLVED BY THE DEALER AND CALLED NISSAN TO FIND OUT IF MY VIN COULD BE ADDED. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULDN'T BE AND THAT NISSAN HAD "NO LIABILITY". I AM JUST THANKFUL THAT I WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE AS I HAD READ THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAD THEIR CAR, AS WELL AS OTHERS, CATCH FIRE AND THE BACK OF THEIR HOUSE AND OR GARAGE! THIS WAS EXTREMELY SCARY! I AM CONCERNED THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN WHEN I DRIVE IT. I AM VERY DISMAYED THAT NISSAN DIDN'T LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT PART WAS INVOLVED IN THE RECALL OF THE OTHER VEHICLES, DESPITE ME ASKING AND THEY STATED SINCE IT WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER THEY WOULD ALSO NOT ADD IT TO THE RECALL. THEY ALSO STATED SINCE I HAD NOT TAKEN THE ROGUE TO A NISSAN DEALER, THEY COULD NOT ADD IT TO THE RECALL! I HAVE DRIVEN NISSANS FOR OVER 20 YEARS. MY 1990 NISSAN STANZA WAS PART OF A RECALL. AT THE TIME THE VEHICLE COST ME $1500 (I WAS A STRUGGLING GRAD STUDENT) AND HAD NEVER SEEN A DEALER UNTIL I LEARNED OF THE RECALL. HOW CAN WE HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE FOR A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WHEN THEY DID NOT EVEN INVESTIGATE OR CALL THE SHOP? THEY SIMPLY REFUSED TO TAKE ACTION OR CONSIDER THE FACT THAT VIN NUMBERS THAT WERE NOT LISTED IN THE RECALL COULD HAVE BEEN AFFECTED. I AM VERY DISHEARTENED IN THE MANNER IN WHICH THEY PROVIDED THE RESPONSE (AN "OH WELL" TYPE OF ATTITUDE) TO AN ISSUE THAT WAS THIS SERIOUS! IT IS NOT THE MONEY, BUT THE FACT THAT IF I WAS IN IT, I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE!
NISSAN INSTALLED DEFECTIVE CVT TRANSMISSIONS IN SEVERAL VEHICLES BETWEEN 2010-2016. MY 2012 NISSAN ROGUE IS INCLUDED IN THAT. I AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION, AND NISSAN IS REFUSING TO REPLACE. IT. MY VEHICLE STARTS FINE, BUT THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, I'VE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE, AND I FEEL THERE NEEDS TO BE A FURTHER INVESTIGATION, AND RECALL ON THIS CVT TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE STARTS, BUT WHEN YOU TRY AND ACCELERATE, THE RPMS GO UP, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS, THEN IT WILL SCREECH AND LURCH FORWARD. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE SALESPERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT NISSAN WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE OLDER CVT TRANSMISSIONS, AND HAVE FIXED IT IN THE NEW 2019 MODELS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AS MY TRANSMISSION FAILED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, WITH NO WARNING. I WAS DRIVING FROM FORT WORTH TO ARLINGTON TX ABOUT 35 MILES. WHEN I WOULD TRY TO GIVE IT GAS, THE MOTOR WOULD REV UP AND THE RPM'S WOULD GO UP BUT MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO. I EXITED AT THE NEAREST EXIT WHICH WAS A LOOP AND THEN MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO AT ALL. THIS IS DURING RUSH HOUR (5:45PM) AND AN BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO AT ALL, AN 18 WHEELER THAT WAS BEHIND ME WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP AND IF HE HADN'T SWIRVED AND GONE OFF THE ROAD AND INTO THE GRASS, HE WOULD HAVE HIT THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE WHERE MY 2 KIDS WERE. THIS CAUSED SEVERAL OTHER CARS BEHIND HIM TO ALMOST WRECK . THIS WAS THE 1ST TIME THIS HAPPENED. THEN AGAIN THIS MORNING ON JAN 28TH, 2019 MONDAY MORNING, I DROVE FROM FORT WORTH TO GRAPEVINE TX ABOUT 40 MILES. THE CAR DID THE EXACT SAME THING. HOWEVER THERE WAS NO EXIT AND NO SHOULDER TO PULL OVER AT DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. I WAS ONCE AGAIN ALMOST REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. ONCE AGAIN, I AM GIVING IT GAS AND THE CAR WILL NOT GO AT ALL. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THE TRANSMISSION FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ON LINE WITH MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN ROGUE.... THIS IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND UNACCEPTABLE.
TRANSMISIN CVT PROBLEM
THERE IS A TPMS RECALL HOWEVER, MY VIN ISN'T SHOWN AS AFFECTED EVEN THOUGH THE TPMS LIGHT ON MY DASH HAS BEEN ON FOR OVER A YEAR. NO NOTIFICATION FROM NISSAN FOR MY VIN. JUST SEEMS MORE THAN A LITTLE "ODD" THAT IT'S A VALIDATED RECALL ISSUE BUT MINE ISN'T PART OF THE RECALL.
12/22/2018 MY NISSAN ROGUE CAUGHT FIRE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. WE WERE ONLY ALERTED BECAUSE THE HORN DEFAULTED BECAUSE OF THE FIRE. FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH SOME DIFFICULTY. THEY ASSURED US IT WAS ELECTRICAL. INSURANCE CO. TOTALED THE CAR. UPON MY OWN RESEARCH THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. NISSAN HAS NOT ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY IN ANY OF THEM. THANK GOD NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE STRESS AND FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY LAYS WITH THE CUSTOMERS.
12/16/18 FILLED FULL TANK OF GAS. RANGE SHOWED 297 WHEN NORMALLY IT SHOWS 320-330 MILES ON A FULL TANK. 12/18/18 AM, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. 12/18/18, PM 225 MILE RANGE, FUEL GAUGE AT 3/4. 12/19/18 AM, 212 MILES 3/4 FUEL. 12/19/18 AM 194 MILES, 3/4 GAUGE. 12/19/18 CALLED LOCAL NISSAN DEALER. 12/19/18 FILED REPORT TO NHTSA. FUEL GAUGE IS REPORTING 3/4 TANK (STOPPED MOVING). THE RANGE OF MILES ON A FULL TANK IS INCORRECT AND INACCURATE. SINCE THE FUEL GAUGE IS STUCK AT 3/4 FULL AND MY MILE READING IS INCORRECT, I DO NO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN MY VEHICLE UNLESS I TRACK THE ODOMETER START AND SUBTRACT 300 (TO BE SAFE).

MY 2012 NISSAN ROGUE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THERE IS A REPEATED HISTORY OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE BY NISSANS INCLUDING THE ROGUE. I BARELY STARTED TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED AND IMMEDIATELY THE SERVICE CENTER PERSON SAID HE KNEW WHAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND ASKED FOR MY VIN SO HE COULD SEE IF IT WAS COVERED BY THE EXTRA WARRANTY NISSAN GRANTED SOME MODELS. IT DID NOT. IT WILL COST $5,400 TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AND COMPLETE REPAIRS WHICH I WILL ASK THE SERVICE CENTER TO COMPLETE. HOWEVER, A RECALL SHOULD BE PLACED ON 2012 NISSAN ROGUES FOR THIS ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM IS PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK.

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR HAS BASICALLY SHUT OFF. ONCE, AFTER GETTING OFF THE RAMP FROM 288 TO HULL STREET, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE UP A SLIGHT HILL AND THE CAR JUST WOULD NOT GO TO THE POINT WHERE I HAD MY FOOT FLOORED AND NOTHING. I LET OFF, WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE IT SHOOK THEN SHUT OFF. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. JUST TODAY, I WAS DRIVING 65 DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE JUST TO GET INFRONT OF ANOTHER CAR TO PREPARE FOR THE UPCOMING EXIT AND MID PUSHING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL... IT JUST STOPS GOING. I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO GET INTO THE RIGHT LANE AGAIN AND PULL OVER TO THE CAR SHAKES THEN SHUTS OFF. I LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, AND WAS ABLE TO START IT BACK UP AND GO WITHOUT SEEMINGLY WITHOUT A PROBLEM AGAIN. THIS IS MY FAMILY VEHICLE. I AM AFRAID THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO ME ONE DAY IN MAJOR TRAFFIC AND CAUSE AN INCIDENT POSSIBLY HURTING ME, MY FAMILY OR OTHERS. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS WITH HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. SOMETHING REALLY NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT FROM NISSAN. THE VEHICLE AT 76K MILES STARTED TO EXPERIENCE SLIPPING WHILE DRIVING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR ADDITIONALLY STRUGGLED TO OBTAIN SPEED WHEN STARTING FROM IDLE, STOPPED AT RED LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS, ETC. AND WOULD JOLT FORWARDED. THE CAR SENT BACK A P0700 CODE FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH ADDITIONAL CODES FOR SHIFTING ERRORS. AFTER TAKING IT TO TWO MECHANICS AND BEING 2 YEARS OUTSIDE OF THE MODELS WITH EXTENDED 10 YEAR WARRANTIES AND 1 YEAR OUTSIDE OF THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY I HAVE TO PAY 4500.00 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION OUT OF POCKET. THE CVT PROBLEMS AFTER 2010 MODELS ARE CLEARLY NOT FIX AND THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH MYSELF OR MY FAMILY. THE FACT THERE IS NOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON NEWER MODELS OR A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSIONS IN UNACCEPTABLE. THIS VERY EASILY COULD HAVE ENDED IN AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY.
IN 2016 I PURCHASED A 2012 NISSAN ROGUE FROM A DEALERSHIP WITH 80,000 MILES. AFTER THREE YEARS (107,000 MILES)THE TRANSMISSION BLEW OUT. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON TO THE RAMP OF I85 IN GA, VEHICLE IN MOTION, WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. I CONTACTED NISSAN TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AS THEY TOLD ME THAT UNLESS IT SHOWED NEGLECT ON MY BEHALF, THEY WOULD THEY BE WILLING TO HELP. THEY EXPLAINED TO ME TO BRING THE ROGUE TO HE NEAREST DEALERSHIP TO DO A DIAGNOSTICS TEST. WHEN I WENT TO TURN ON THE CAR TO TAKE TO DEALERSHIP, THE CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE. THE CAR WAS ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE IN REVERSE. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO TOW IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OF THE VEHICLE SITTING IN THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP, NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS CONTACTED ME BACK AS THEY MADE A DECISION TO DENY HELPING ME. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AS THE CAR IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE HISTORY OF NISSAN ROGUE AND IT SEEMS THAT THEY HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS IN THE PAST. THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THE TOTAL EXPENSE WOULD BE MY DUTY. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS INFORMED BY NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO FILE A COMPLAINT AS TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED. I KNOW THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH NISSAN IN THE PAST YEARS. I OWN A 2012 NISSAN ROGUE. I PURCHASED IT USED IN 2015 WITH APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES ON IT. IN ABOUT APRIL OF 2018 I STARTED EXPERIENCING THE CAR NOT ACCELERATING AFTER DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY. I WOULD BE DRIVING 65-75 MPH AND SUDDENLY THE CAR WOULD SLOW DOWN AND NOT ACCELERATE. THIS IS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC MIND YOU. I WOULD PULL OVER AND SIT FOR ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES. AFTER THAT TIME I WOULD RESTART THE CAR AND THE CAR WOULD DRIVE AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. I WOULD EXPERIENCE THIS EACH TIME I WOULD GET ON THE EXPRESSWAY AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 50-60 MINUTES. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING. I COULD NOT GET ANOTHER CAR DUE TO THE FACT THAT I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF PAYING FOR THIS CAR AND OWE TOO MUCH TO TRADE IT. IN JULY 2018 I DID NOT HAVE TO TRAVEL THE EXPRESSWAY AS MUCH. I THOUGHT THAT I COULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR THINKING IF I DIDN'T TRAVEL THAT FAR I MAY BE OK UNTIL I GET THE CAR PAID DOWN SOME MORE. TO MY SURPRISE THAT JUST DID NOT HAPPEN. IN AUGUST 2018 I STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING SOUND AND TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC TO FIND OUT THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS BAD. SOME OF HIS CUSTOMERS BROUGHT THEIR NISSAN ROGUE'S TO HIM WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX AND A USED PART MAY NOT BE THE ANSWER DUE TO THE FACT THAT ALL OF THE ROGUE'S ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WELL, AT THIS POINT I AM WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION. THE KNOCKING TURNED INTO A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR, AS IF EVERYTHING UNDERNEATH WAS ON THE VERGE OF FALLING OFF. I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY HOME BECAUSE THE MECHANIC CANNOT FIND A SUITABLE USED PART TO REPLACE THE PROBLEM AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED WITH A NEW PART. THE CONTACT CALLED CENTRAL TOYOTA AT 870-268-5418 (LOCATED AT 3305 STADIUM BLVD, JONESBORO, AR 72404) AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THEIR FACILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
WHENEVER MY CAR IS IN MOTION, WHEN TRYING TO CLIMB A HILL, IT WOULD STOP AUTOMATICALLY. AND OFTEN TIMES, I WOULD HAVE TO REVERSE MY CAR, TURN IT OFF AND GENTLY DRIVE IT UP THE HILL FOR FEAR THAT IT MAY SHUT ITSELF OFF. I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE THE AIR MASS FLOW 3 TIMES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE SEPTEMBER, AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP, THE DIAGNOSES CAME BACK AS THE AIR MASS FLOW, AFTER I HAVE JUST REPLACED IT. THE CAR WOULD AUTOMATICALLY NOT GET GAS FOR NO APPARENT REASONS. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY ANY LONGER.

CVT WHINING NOISE (HIGH FREQUENCY) GENERATED OFTEN DURING ACCEL FROM 10 TO 40 MPH. THE ISSUE STARTED A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED IT ON JUL 23, 2018 AND TOLD ME ENTIRE CVT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID CVT FLUIDS OVERHEATED AND DAMAGED CVT CHAIN. NO WARNING LIGHT OR SOME SORT OF ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ALSO THEY SAID CVT COOLING KIT NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED WHICH DIDN'T EXIST IN THE VEHICLE IN THE FIRST PLACE. LOTS OF CVT ISSUES REPORTED FROM NISSAN VEHICLES. IT IS 2012 ROGUE AND 82900 MILES. IT IS TOOL EARLY FOR TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. I THINK THIS IS MAJOR DESIGN DEFECT OR FLAW.

TOTAL COST $4,000 AND HAD TO PAY $130 FOR THIS INFORMATION! THE DEALER INFORMED ME THE DIGITAL READ OUT INDICATED MY ROGUE HAD LOST POWER 36 TIMES! A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH TURNED UP MANY OTHER OWNERS OF NISSANS WITH CVT TRANSMISSIONS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE! NISSAN HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR CVT TRANSMISSIONS ON MODELS 2010 AND OLDER BUT REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE CONTINUES TO PLAGUE NEWER MODELS AND WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF REPAIRS. WARRANTY COVERED IT THE FIRST TIME, JUST ENDED IN JULY AND I AM TOLD THAT NISSAN ONLY COVERS NEW TRANSMISSIONS FOR 1 YEAR OR 12,000 MILES. THIS CAR IS A LEMON. A TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT GO OUT TWICE IN 100,000 MILES. AN AIRBAG MALFUNCTION SHOULD BE COVERED, THIS IS MY SAFETY.

THAT AMOUNT IS RIDICULOUS AND PROHIBITIVE FOR MY FAMILY. WE HAD MY MECHANIC WORK ON IT THE 1ST TIME AND HE RECALIBRATED THE SEAT. HE CAME BACK A SECOND TIME BUT DID NOT CHARGE SINCE IT WAS THE SAME CODE AND IT HAPPENED A DAY LATER. WE OPTED TO FIX THE ISSUE BY REPLACING THE SEAT WITH A PART FROM A SALVAGE YARD AS IT WAS LESS MONEY. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY! THE VERY FIRST TIME I NOTICED THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM LIGHT WAS DURING A 5 HOUR DRIVE (7/8/18) BUT DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS UNTIL I LOOKED IT UP AFTER THE TRIP. WHEN DRIVING FOR SO LONG AS IN LONG DISTANCE THE VEHICLE WON'T ACCELERATE. SPEED LIMIT COULD BE 75 MPH AND AFTER ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT A HOUR CAR SPEED WILL DROP AND WON'T ACCELERATE PASS 60 MPH. GAS PEDAL COULD BE ALL THE WAY DOWN AND STILL WON'T ACCELERATE.
I PURCHASED MY 2012 NISSAN ROGUE ON 6/13/17. IT HAD 63,000 MILES ON IT. ON 6/28/18 A YEAR INTO OWNERSHIP MY CVT TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE TAKING MY DAUGHTER TO HER STATE SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT. HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AN HOUR AWAY TO BE TOLD THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER SPENDING $4900 ON A NEW TRANSMISSION FAST FORWARD A YEAR LATER STARTING IN JUNE OF 2019 MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND I WERE AT A STOP SIGN TRYING TO CROSS A BUSY HIGHWAY AFTER CHECKING THE ROAD WAS CLEAR TO GO ACROSS MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE SO HERE WE SIT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH CARS BARRELING TOWARD US AT 65 MPH NOT ABLE TO MOVE! MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS HOW AM I GONNA GET MYSELF OUT AND UN STRAP MY 4 YEAR OLD OUT OF HER CAR SEAT BEFORE THESE CARS KILL US!! THANKFUL AFTER PUTTING THE PEDAL THE FLOOR MY VEHICLE FINALLY CREPT ACROSS THE INTERSECTION TO SAFETY. THIS HAS HAPPENED 24 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS AND THE MECHANIC CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM NO WARNING LIGHTS AT ALL. HE SAID IT'S ANOTHER BAD CVT TRANSMISSION?! HOW CAN A YEAR OLD TRANSMISSION FAIL? AND HOW CAN TWO CVT TRANSMISSIONS FAIL IN THE SAME VEHICLE TWICE?! THE ANSWER IS IT CAN'T UNLESS IT'S DEFECTIVE I PAID $4900 FOR A TRANSMISSION THAT DID THE SAME THING A YEAR LATER AFTER I REPLACED IT! IT SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY NOT BEING DRIVEN BECAUSE IT'S A DEATH TRAP!! I DON'T WANT ME OR MY CHILDREN KILLED! NISSAN COME CLEAN BEFORE MANY PEOPLE ARE KILLED DUE TO YOUR DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS!
FRONTAL IMPACT CAUSED AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY EXCEPT THE PASSENGER FRONT (NO PASSENGER) AND THE PASSENGER REAR SIDE (PASSENGER PRESENT) . NISSAN CLAIMS NO DEPLOYMENT OF SIDE AIRBAG IS BECAUSE NO DIRECT "T-BONE" IMPACT ON PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE WAS SENSED. NISSAN ALSO CLAIMS THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DID PROPERLY BECAUSE IT SENSED A POTENTIAL ROLLOVER SITUATION. NISSAN WAS MOVING ON CITY STREET AND HIT (T-BONED) A TRUCK PULLING A HEAVY LOADED TRAILER THAT RAN A RED LIGHT. REAR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED!
DRIVING ON A HOT DAY, 104, CAR LOST ACCELERATION. DID NOT OVERHEAT. WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 60 MPH. PARKED CAR OVERNIGHT AND THE NEXT DAY IT RAN FINE. HAD TRANSMISSION FLUID CHECKED AND MECHANIC DROPPED PAN BUT SO NO SIGNS OF MECHANICAL FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. MY OPINION - FUEL VAPORIZATION?
WHEN I GO LONG DISTANCE IN MY ROUGE THE TRANSMISSION SLOWS ME DO TO AROUND 35 TO 40 MILES AN HOUR GOING UP HILLS AND WHEN YOU STOP AND GO WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS IS DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO GO. UNSAFE ON THE FREEWAY IT'S GOING TO KILL SOMEBODY AND I HOPE ITS LOOKED INTO BEFORE THIS HAPPENS. I BOUGHT THIS SO I HAD A FAMILY TRUSTED VEHICLE FOR TRIPS AND I WOULD NEVER DRIVE IT FOR THE REASONS MENTIONED SOMETIMES IN TOWN BUT MOSTLY ON THE HIGHWAY
