WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE IN TOWN, APPROX. 40MPH UP A SLIGHT INCLINE THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED ENGAGING AND RPM'S STARTED TO INCREASE WHILE SPEED DROPPED. VEHICLE HAS 110,000 MILES ON IT. I CAME DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO GETTING INTO SEVERAL ACCIDENTS TRYING TO SAFELY PULL OVER. THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION SHOP NEARBY AND I BARELY MADE IT THERE AND THEY LOOKED INTO THIS ISSUE. THEY SAID MY ONLY OPTION WOULD BE TO HAVE THE CVT REPLACED. THEY SAID I WOULD BE PUTTING MYSELF AND OTHERS AT RISK OF INJURY IF I CONTINUED TO TRY AND DRIVE IT IN THIS CONDITION. THE VEHICLE HAD NO PRIOR ISSUES/WARNING SIGNS PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE. I STRONGLY BELIEVE NISSAN SHOULD REPLACE MY CVT AT THEIR EXPENSE.
CUSTOMER STATES BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WITH NO BRAKES, AND RAN A RED LIGHT AS A RESULT. UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE AT THIS TIME, THOUGH COMPLAINT MATCHES OTHERS REPORTED TO NHTSA. BRAKE SYSTEM LOOKS GOOD IN VISUAL INSPECTION AND ON MULTIPLE TEST DRIVES PERFORMED ACCEPTABLY. FLUID IS FULL AND CLEAN. NO CODES PRESENT FOR ANY PORTION OF THE BRAKE AND VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEMS. NO ACCIDENT AS A RESULT OF FAILURE, THOUGH CUSTOMER NO LONGER TRUSTS OR FEELS SAFE IN VEHICLE.
TRANSMISSION WILL STALL AND/OR LOSE ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. WILL NOT INCREASE SPEED, REGARDLESS OF IF THE PEDAL IS TO THE FLOOR OR NOT. IF YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE OVER 5 MPH UNTIL YOU STOP, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, SOMETIMES FOR UP TO 30 MIN, AND RESUME DRIVING. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITHIN 30 DAYS, ALWAYS WHILE GOING OVER 60 MPH, AND FREEWAY DRIVING FOR 10 MIN +.
TAKATA RECALL ADULT PASSENGER IS SEATED IN PASSENGERS FRONT SEAT AND HAS SEAT BELT ON. BUT AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS FLASHING ON DASH BOARD AND PASSENGERS AIRBAG OFF LIGHT STAYS ON.
I HAVE HAD MY CAR SINCE 12'. NEVER AN ISSUE, I KEEP UP REGULAR MAINTENANCE. I HIT 80K A MONTH AGO. DRIVING FRIDAY, REGULAR SPEED, APPROX 40PH CAR JUST LOSES POWER IN TRAFFIC. I HAD TO COAST TO EMERGENCY LANE. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, TESTING SINCE FRIDAY CAN'T GIVE ME ANY ANSWERS.
VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT IS ON, IT'S A COMPUTER PROBLEM THAT THE SYSTEM IS TELLING THE CAR TO BREAK EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IN ACCERLARATION, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BREAKS TO SMOKE.
THE CVT HAS LOST 95% OF THE POWER DURING DRIVING. LUCKILY WE WERE ONLY 1/2 MILE FROM HOME, SO WE TURNED AROUND. WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $3400. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 77924 MILES ON IT. WE ASKED IF IT COULD BE REBUILT AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT HAS TO BE REPLACED WITH A RE MANUFACTURED UNIT. THEY CANNOT REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION. WE CONTACTED NISSAN TO OPEN A CASE AND THEY SAID THEY WILL NOT HELP IN THE COST OF A RE MANUFACTURED UNIT OR THE LABOR COST. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NISSAN AND PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS HAVE HAD THE WARRANTY EXTENDED TO COVER THE COSTS. AFTER READING ONLINE THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS TRANSMISSION AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH. NISSAN CASE IS UNDER SAMANTHA DIEZMAN THE CO OWNER OF THE VEHICLE.
VEHICLE HAD CVT TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 90,000 MILES. CAR SPEED UNCONTROLLABLE BETWEEN SLOW OR TOO FAST ON THE HIGHWAY. NISSAN DEALER INDICATED TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING, BUT WOULD NOT REPLACE IT. I FILED WITH NISSAN CONSUMER SERVICES TO CHECK VEHICLE SINCE CVT TRANSMISSION FAILURES ARE BEING REPAIRED BY OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS. NISSAN HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND MECHANIC AGREED THIS IS A FAILURE ON THE COMPANY'S SIDE. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $6,000 AND THERE ARE STILL ISSUES WITH THE BOOT AND FRONT CASE TRANSFERS THAT ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I'M REQUESTING FOR NISSAN TO ISSUE A RECALL AGAINST FAULTY CVT TRANSMISSIONS AND REPLACE THESE SINCE THESE ARE DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY.
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY I-75 SOUTHBOUND 37.5 MILE. TWO ADULTS AND KIDS 6 AND 4 YRS OLD WERE PRESENT IN THE CAR. WE HAD TO GET OTHER PEOPLE TO HELP PUSH THE CAR OVER TO THE RESTING AREA AND OFF THE HIGHWAY. WE HAD TO TOW THE CAR TWICE TO THE LOCATION WERE WE WERE GOING AND BACK TO SARASOTA AREA WHERE WE LIVE. THE CAR WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 75 MPH WHEN IT BROKE AND COULD NOT MOVE ANYMORE. I CALLED NISSAN AND CREATED A CASE, BUT THEY REFUSED HELP WITH ANYTHING. NISSAN TRANSMISSIONS WERE RECALLED TO YEAR 2010. OURS IS 2012 AND THEY STILL MADE BAD TRANSMISSIONS. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED.
WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AT TIMES THE VEHICLE WILL NOT RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM THE GAS PEDAL (IT SEEMS LIKE) NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE TRANSMISSION NOT RESPONDING OR IF ITS THE THROTTLE BODY NOT RESPONDING. EITHER WAY BASED ON WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE, THE BULK OF COMPLAINTS ARE POINTING TO THE CVT TRANSMISSION & MILEAGE IS RELATIVELY SIMILAR TO MY VEHICLE THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AS WELL. MY KIDS TRAVEL IN THIS VEHICLE EVERY MORNING THAT I PURCHASED NEW FROM NISSAN. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FROM NISSAN NOT TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM WHEN THEY (I'M SURE) KNOW OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS.
The contact owns a 2012 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated while the RPM gauge increased. The contact was able to restart the vehicle to correct the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The dealer recommended that the contact replace the continuously variable transmission (CVT). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A SWITCH IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,137.
THE AUTOMATIC LOCK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS STOPPED WORKING WHEN IT IS "COLD" OUTSIDE. IT WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN LAST YEAR AND DETERMINED THAT THE LOCK HAD GOTTEN "TOO COLD" AND THAT MANY OTHER ROGUES HAD BEEN SEEN FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN.
ON NOVEMBER 10, 2016 I NOTICED THAT MY 2012 NISSAN ROGUE GAS GAUGE IS OFF. EVEN WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS, THE GAUGE WILL READ THE TANK AS BELOW THE FULL LEVEL. AT TIMES IT WILL SHOW THE TANK AS 3/4. TODAY (NOVEMBER 16, 16) MY CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW TO BE SEEN FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE SERVICE TEAM INFORMED ME THAT NO ERROR CODES WERE BEING THROWN ON THEIR COMPUTER. I TRIED TO EXPLAIN THAT I KNOW SOMETHING IS FAULTY WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. I FILL THE CAR UP WITH GAS AND THE GAUGE STAYS AT 3/4 OF A TANK. IT DOES NOT MOVE, LETTING ME KNOW WHEN I AM FULL OR EMPTY ON GAS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TRIED TO SELL ME ON THE IDEA THAT THE ROGUE JUST HAS "GREAT GAS MILEAGE". NOTHING HAS OR WILL BE DONE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR OVER EXTENDS AND DENTS DOOR
TAKATA RECALL MY 2012 NISSAN ROGUE SHAKES AND MAKES A WEIRD NOISE WHILE DRIVING. ALSO TRANSMISSION WILL GO INTO SOME SORT OF SAFE MODE EVEN WHILE DRIVING MAKING MY NOT ACCELERATE MAKING IT VERY DANGEROUS WHILE EXITING THE HALLWAY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SAYING WITH A CODE FOR THE TORQUE CONVERTER.
AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF HIGHWAY DRIVING, THE CAR WILL STOP ACCELERATING. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP TODAY, 10/18/19, WHERE THE MECHANIC TOLD US THAT THE "TRANSMISSION WAS OVERHEATING". THEY COULD NOT TELL US WHAT WAS CAUSING IT WANT INSTALL AN ADDITIONAL PIECE OF EQUIPMENT THAT WILL PROVIDE A TEMPORARY FIX. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND SCARY SITUATION; THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. *TR
VEHICLE HAS AN ACCELERATION PROBLEM, ON LONG DRIVES THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS AND IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE AS INTENDED; YOU STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR AND IT DOES NOT GO OVER 35-40 MILES PER HOUR, AND ON THE HIGHWAY IS VERY DANGEROUS, MY DAUGHTER ALMOST GOT HIT BY A SEMI ON HER WAY HOME FROM SCHOOL. SHE DRIVES 2:45 HOURS FROM AND TO SCHOOL. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND TOLD ME THAT WAS MY PROBLEM, THAT MY WARRANTY ALREADY EXPIRED AND THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL THEY COULD ANYTHING I AM ON MY OWN. CHECKED WITH THE INTERNET AND OTHER OWNERS AND TOLD ME THE SAME THING; IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT THEY DONT SEE IT THAT WAY IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND ALSO THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE IT AS MY FIRST NISSAN; THEY COULD NOT HELP BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO BE A LOYAL CUSTOMER OF NISSAN IN ORDER FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO GET SOMETHING DONE. DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. NEED HELP!!!
ONE TWO OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE THE CAR DECELERATED FROM 70 MPH TO UNDER 40 MPH WITH THE RPMS DROPPING DRAMATICALLY. FOLLOWING THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, THE DEALER TOLD US THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AND I MAY HAVE HIT THE WRONG PEDDLE. FOLLOWING THE SECOND OCCASION WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AND NEEDED $3000-$6000 IN REPAIRS. AFTER A ONE MINUTE GOOGLE SEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A NUMEROUS/CONTINUAL OCCURRENCE FOR SEVERAL YEARS WITH THE NISSAN ROGUE AND THEY WERE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. NISSAN STATED THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST IN REPAIR COSTS AFTER FILING A COMPLAINT. HOW COULD THEY NOT HAVE KNOWN OF THIS PROBLEM WHEN IT IS EASILY IDENTIFIED IN A GOOGLE SEARCH? BOTH OCCURRENCES CREATED AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MY FAMILY THE CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD WITH UNDER 70000 MILES. ATTACHED IS A SMALL SAMPLE FROM A GOOGLE SEARCH THAT WAS AVAILABLE TO THE DEALER WHO COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM.
WHEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE LONG DISTANCES IT WILL LOSE POWER WITHOUT NOTICE. WHEN DRIVING ACCELERATION WILL GO DOWN TO 0 MPH. IF YOU PUT THE GAS PEDAL ON THE FLOOR IT WILL STILL NOT ACCELERATE. THIS CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN LONG DISTANCES, AS IT HAS PLACED MY FAMILY IN DANGER NUMEROUS TIMES. I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND ALLOW THE CAR TO SIT. MANY TIMES THIS HAS OCCURRED ON BUSY HIGHWAYS. THERE IS NO FIX WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE HAD 18 WHEELERS BEHIND ME WHEN THIS CAR HAS SUDDENLY STOPPED. NISSAN WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ISSUE. WHEN INQUIRING ABOUT THE ISSUE NISSAN IS ONLY SEEKING A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THROUGH RESEARCH I HAVE UNCOVERED THAT THIS IS A HUGE ISSUES IMPACTING TONS OF CUSTOMERS. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER NISSAN.
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST ACCELERATION WHICH RESULTED IN MY NEARLY BEING INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK AND OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME. MY FOOT WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE DROPPED DOWN TO 40 MPH AND STAYED THERE FOR SOME TIME. THIS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY DAUGHTER AND I NO LONGER FELT SAFE USING THE VEHICLE. I DID A SEARCH ON GOOGLE AND FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHERS WERE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WHICH WAS THE RESULT OF THE CVT TRANSMISSION BUT THAT NISSAN WAS MAKING THE CONSUMER PAY TO INSTALL THESE "COOLER KITS". NOT ONLY ARE THESE VEHICLES WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS UNSAFE AND TICKING TIMEBOMBS; IT IS UNFAIR THAT NISSAN IS MAKING THE CONSUMERS RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING AN ISSUE THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF. WE'RE TRUSTING THAT OUR VEHICLES ARE SAFE ENOUGH TO TRANSPORT OUR FAMILIES AND CHILDREN IN AND THEY AREN'T!! MY DAUGHTER AND I BOTH COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUE THAT NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS AND HOLD NISSAN ACCOUNTABLE BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE. THESE VEHICLES ARE NOT SAFE!!
A FEW WEEK AGO WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD STARTED FLASHING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND AFTER DIAGNOSIS HE SAID THAT AIRBAG SENSOR HAS TO BE REPLACED AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR HAS ONLY 35100 MILES. IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH THE AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHING. IT SHOULD BE ON RECALL.
ISSUES WITH CAR AIRBAG
I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, AT 70 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE RPM WENT TO 5000, AND THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DROPPED. I LEFT UP ON THE GAS PEDDLE, AND GRADUALLY PRESSED IT, AND MOVED OVER TO THE BERM; AS THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 45 MPH, AT THE HIGHEST; WITHOUT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING TOO MUCH THAT IT WOULD LOSE SPEED. IT ALSO IT HAD AN ODOR. ONCE I STOPPED AND EVERY THING COOLED, IT SEEMED TO RUN ALRIGHT. THAT WAS A WEEK AGO AND IT STARTED TO DO IT ,BUT NOT AS BAD TODAY; BUT I WAS ON REGULAR HIGHWAY AND DIDN'T TRAVEL NEAR AS FAR. I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE WHEN I LEFT THE INTERSTATE, AND TO THE NISSAN DEALER TODAY; AND BOTH SAID IT WAS A DEFECTIVE CVT TRANSMISSION, BUT WITH 76,000 MILES ON IT, THE DEALER TOLD ME NISSAN WONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT ,
THE A/C WENT OUT SUDDENLY WITH ONLY 57000 ON THIS 2012 NISSAN ROGUE. MY PREGANT WIFE IS UNABLE TO DRIVE THIS TO WORK AS IT GETS TOO HOT IN THE VEHICLE. THE SHOP QUOTED $1700 TO REPLACE A FAULTY A/C COMPRESSOR. THERE IS A LOT OF ONLINE CHATTER ABOUT MULTIPLE NISSAN VEHICLES HAVING A/C ISSUES MONTH TO A FEW YEARS AFTER DRIVING OFF THE LOT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. THEY ALREADY HAVE A PART THAT SUPERSEDES THE REPLACEMENT PART THAT CAN BE INSTALLED. THEY OBVIOUSLY REDESIGNED THIS PART FOR A REASON. PLEASE DORAD THIS ON IF THIS IS NOT THE CORRECT AGENCY TO REPORT THIS ISSUE BUT IT SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY PREGNANT WIFE AS SHE CAN'T DRIVE IT TO WORK.
LOST POWER WHEN DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. ENGINE RPM KEPT INCREASING BUY THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT . WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE INTERSTATE TO SAFETY. THIS IS NOT A SAFETY DEVICE, THIS IS GOING TO KILL PEOPLE IF IT HASN'T ALL READY. THE LONGER THE DRIVE AND THE WARMER THE DAY IS WHEN IT HAS MORE POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OF POWER. I AM AT THE POINT WHERE I AM AFRAID OF GOING ON ANY LONG DISTANCE DRIVE BECAUSE L FEEL I AM GOING TO LOSS POWER. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO THE USED CAR DEALERSHIP, THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED A CALL THAT MY TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS ONLY 3.5 YEARS OLD (WELL TAKEN CARE OF) AND EVEN THOUGH IT HAS 67,000 MILES ON IT, A CAR AS NEW AS THIS ONE SHOULDN'T BE HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND AFTER GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THEM A FEW TIMES THEY DECIDED THEY ARE NOT GOING TO HELP ME BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, MIND YOU BACK IN 2003-2010 THEY PUT OUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM ON ALL NISSAN ROGUES DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, SO THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE THEN I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY AREN'T ACKNOWLEDGING THE ISSUE NOW. I AM STILL PAYING THE CAR OFF AND NOW I HAVE PAID $3,400 TO HAVE THE TRANS FIXED, THAT TRANSMISSION LASTED 12,500 MILES BEFORE A 3RD TRANSMISSION I WAS TOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS I HAVE FOUND THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS IN NISSAN CARS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM, ACTUALLY A VERY COMMON ISSUE. WELL THE 3RD TRANSMISSION ONLY LASTED 4,990 MILES. WE TOOK THE CAR A NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY NEEDED TO ADD AN AULXILLARY TRANSMISSION COOLER TO THE TRANSMISSION SO IT WOULD NOT OVERHEAT. ALSO THEY HAD TO REPLACE RANSMISSION VALVE BODY. I HAD THEM DO THE REPAIR AT A COST TO ME IF OF $1,013.00. NISSAN WOULD ONLY PAY $750.00 TO THE COST. I TOLD THE REP AT NISSAN THAT WE HAD NO WARNING OF THE TRANSMISSION GOING , NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON IT JUST STOPPED. I TOLD THE THIS WAS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE - THIS COULD OF CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT.
