We bought our 2022 Rogue in September 2022, it now has around 5300 miles on it. In December, we noticed that every time we drive it, the inside of the car fills with gas fumes. The fumes are so strong that it gives us extreme headaches, dizziness and nausea. When we park the Rogue in our garage, it creates a strong gas smell. We are concerned that it could explode or cause a fire. The vehicle was taken to Ron Sayer Nissan in Idaho Falls, Idaho on February 4, 2023 for diagnosis. The service manager, [XXX], informed us after examining the vehicle that he did not know what is causing the strong gasoline odor. The dealership did nothing to repair the vehicle and the problem continues. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
My car smells gasoline inside and outside.I brought the car to the service dealer but the service manager said that they cannot figure out where gas odor coming from.I am using my car in bringing my 2 kids to school and going to work.My kids are getting sick and I am afraid my car will cause fire.
Vehicle has raw fuel smell, both outside and inside. Smell intensity varies, sometimes it is faint, sometimes it smells up the whole garage for days. When restarting the vehicle after having driven it, fuel smell comes into the cabin from the air vents. Took to dealer multiple times. The first time, the Service Advisor noted the strong fuel smell. Subsequant visits to the dealer had faint fuel smell that was hard to detect over the typical odors in a repair shop. Opened a case with Nissan, and they sent a tech, but no resolution. Requested a re-purchase, and Nissan denied it. Nissan states this 1.5L engine is under Engineering Review, but they do not know if or when they will figure out a repair. This vehicle is an extreme health hazard with the exposure to hydrocarbon vapors, and is not safe to drive as an engine fire could result from the gas vapors. Issue started a month ago at 1100 miles.
Smell of gasoline inside my car while driving and when parked inside my garage .Brought to the dealer and said to me that the are many car owners of the same model who are complaining of the same problem but they cannot fixed it at this time and will just call me if they will find solution of the problem but until now the dealer haven't call me back. The problem is getting worse and it is a significant fire hazard in my car and also in my garage.
There is a strong smell of gasoline a few minutes after parking the vehicle in my enclosed garage. The smell is strongest on the drivers side, near base of the windshield and along the left side of the hood. This problem occurs every time I drive the vehicle more than 20 mins and then park it in an enclosed garage. 10 mins after parking it, the garage smells like spilled gasoline. I took the vehicle at 2,200 miles to a dealer and they stated that they were unable to duplicate the problem. They asked me to return the vehicle at 5,000 miles if I still had the problem.
For several weeks I have noticed strong smell of gasoline when my car is parked in my garage. Today, I called my Nissan dealer because I am very concerned. The service advisor informed me that they have received many similar complaints and Nissan is supposedly trying to identify and remedy the problem. He said my car is safe, but I am terribly concerned.
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in the garage, he started to smell and abnormal fuel odor. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer but was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
There is a very strong gas smell in the cabin coming through the vents. Opening windows doesn't help as it is outside the vehicle as well. It smells like gasoline is actually covering the vehicle. Causes nausea & ightheadedness. Worried for health from breathing in the fumes and fire risk. Nissan service changed evap canister and problem persists. I bought the vehicle brand new and is an unresolved issue.
The vehicle has a very strong raw gasoline smell after driving. The smell is very noticeable both outside and inside of the cabin. This condition is becoming more frequent the more it’s driven. The odor is strong enough to make the driver lightheaded and nauseous. The vehicle was purchased new. Dealership is unable to diagnose and Nissan corporate continuously refers this issue back to the dealership.
After owning the car for about four months, the car smells like gasoline. The smell of gasoline fills the cabin and if parked in the home, the whole house smells of gasoline. My children get sick if they have to be in the car for more than 45 minutes. Nissan of Boulder claims that the fuel system is working fine, but it is not. Other owners of 2022 Nissan Rogue are experiencing the same problem without any remedy or recall from Nissan corporation.
I have had my car in the service center 5 times for the same reason they tell me it is fixed but the problem keeps happening. I have tried to be cooperative . the car has been in the shop on and off since the 18 of July at one point they had it almost a month. This last time they gave it back to me said it was fixed. This is why i'm writing to you I had the car a week and I was driving on interstate 65 I was in the middle lane doing 70 MPH with a tractortrailer on each side of me starting up a long hill with another truck coming up behind me, when my car dropped down to 40 MPH since I knew what was happening I put on my emergency flashers, thank God the truck driver behind me was paying attention because he was coming up behind me pretty fast because of the hill He slowed down and moved over to block the slow lane so I could get over I had my 2 granddaughters in the car with me, and things could have been very bad if the trucker behind me had not been paying attention My Granddaughters and I could have been killed. Now I am afraid to drive the car the dealership told me to Call Nissan hot line and tell them what happened Nissan said they had something else to fix and my car would be fine, well now I'm afraid to drive the car and Nissan said they didn't have to do anything else to help me. I put 20,000.00 down on this car so I could keep my payments down. and now I'm stuck with a car I'm afraid to drive. am a [XXX] Grandmother trying to take care of my 3 Grandchildren on a fixed income I have 1 in collage 1 who works but doesn't drive and 1 in high school . I have to have a car I can depend on .I'm sorry to go on and on but please tell me if there is anything I can do. I don't have the repair papers at this time they are in the car and it is in the shop again INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
There is a strong smell of gasoline in the garage after I park my Rogue in it. We can smell it in the house. There is also the strong smell of gasoline in the cab when the car is idling, like when waiting in line or at a stop sign. This is not exhaust, it’s fuel. I’ve had it checked once already during an oil change and am taking it back again tomorrow. This can’t be safe to my health. Am also afraid it will set my house down on fire. Please help.
Vehicle smells of strong gas smell in the cab and around the vehicle. Smell is so strong it makes you feel light headed and gives you a headache. This is a huge health concern for me. When parking in the garage it smells so strong that you have to then park it outside for a couple hours after driving so you do not have a fire hazard in the garage. Took it to the dealership to have diagnosed and was told that they can't find a problem however now I'm see reports that Nissan is aware of the issue and it is under engineering review but there is nothing they can do at this time. I then reached out to Nissan consumer affairs which was absolutely no help at all. This is a huge safety and health concern for me.
Drivers side rear door will not unlock and open from either the outside or inside of vehicle.
I purchased a 2022 Nissan Rogue in October 2022. Almost immediately I started noticing a smell of gasoline not only while I was driving but more so after I pulled the car in the garage and turned it off. The smell was very strong. I called the dealership and made a service appointment (they should have the service records). They checked it out, said they couldn't find anything leaking, etc. but that it was a known issue, Nissan knew about it, but there wasn't a fix in place yet. I also received a recall notice to have a part on the fuel pump replaced and that was completed. It did not fix the problem. I still smell fuel when I park my car in the garage. I'm very worried about the fumes and the problem that's causing them. I am also very concerned about oil dilution and the damage that is doing to my car's engine and the cost of repairs I may have in the future. PLEASE help us with this. This is a huge problem and if you Google it, it's affecting so many people. PLEASE hold Nissan accountable and help us get resolution. As individuals we're getting no where and it's costing us as far as our health and those that ride in the car with us as well as costing us in repairs or replacement of engine systems due to oil dilution. PLEASE act quickly and help with this known problem. Car was purchased from and serviced by Marshall Motors in Salina, Kansas. Thank you!
Our car was in the garage. I opened the trunk not using remote opener, but from outside. I was taking groceries out. I was leaning in and picking up bags when I noticed that trunk door was coming down. I tried to move quickly out of the way and hit my left side of my forehead. Above my eye. As a result I have a black and blue under my eye and a bump on my forehead and now several days of headaches. So, what is happening is that car trunk door when it was opening reached or hit the top of the garage. That caused it to start coming down immediately. There is no sensor to see if there is something in the way. Similar to garage door where there a sensor that something is in the way and it will stop. We have a small video of what happens. The upload on the next screen does not allow for videos.
For roughly the last three months, several times I have smelled fuel or gas in the interior cabin. Mostly at startup for first time during morning. But also when starting car after use earlier in the day. The smell dissipates after 10 minutes or so. Especially if I roll down windows to let in fresh air. Please let me know how address because dealer will not see issue as it does not occur with a defined pattern that I recognize. I did notice that when the gas tank was near empty the smell was very strong - and I was driving car for several minutes before the odor started. This issue is not healthy for breathing and I’m worried about it getting worse and becoming a safety issue.
Gas fumes from engine compartment – after the car has been driven 20-30 mins enough to heat up the engine and then parked (turned off) for 10-15 minutes a strong smell of gasoline is detected, you can smell it either by sniffing in the front grill or if you start it and use the outdoor air circulation in the cabin it will come through the vents. There are enough fumes to fill a 1 car garage in 30 mins with a thick odor of gasoline. The fumes are nauseating and cause headaches. My salesman at Hawk Nissan suggested changing gas to a top tier brand so I starting using Mobile but no help with the fume issue. After speaking with a service manager at Woodfield Nissan, he said that he’s had a few cars come in recently with the same problem. Nothing is showing up mechanically so they chalked it up to a “break-in period” and/or possibly a coating used in manufacturing. Brought it back to Woodfield Nissan a couple weeks later stating the oil dipstick has a strong smell of gasoline same smell I get in the cabin and around the car. He found nothing unusual with the oil smell. I took it into Hawk Nissan Oct 2022 with 800 miles now with 2943 miles still having the issue. Not sure if this is affecting my MPG but I'm only getting 18-20 MPG mix of city & highway driving. Recently I'm seeing a lot of the same complaints with the 2023 models.
The problem started 3 months after purchase. It has a very loud noise that comes from the engine i think. It has been inspected by two different dealerships. Both insisted the noise was normal. After going more than 10 times to the dealership where i purchased my Rogue, i called nissan directly and open an investigation. Nissan sent an engineer and he said that the noise was weird but he didnt know what was going on. He also said that he was going to see if he could get me a discount for a new car. But nissan said no. I have a case number with nissan in case this is needed. This has been an issue that has been going on for two years now. Two years!! Then last month or so the check engine has been turning on and off. Today I went to make the inspection and the Rogue did not pass. And they told me the engine has fuel. After going to the inspection place the suv stopped working. It did not start. Had to call the dealership and I talked to person that has been checking the suv for the last two years and he said to take it to them. And I had to tow my Rogue to the dealership. It has been a very stressful experience and no one seems to care about this issue. My health and my safety is on the line. I don’t know what else to do or who to talk to. I hope you guys help. Thank you.
I purchased my new 2022 Nissan Rogue a few months ago. I do not drive a whole lot seeing as I am working from home. Yet I have noticed on many occasions that after going out and running my errands, I come home and park in my garage and my garage smells of very strong gas fumes. Yesterday I brought my car in to the Nissan Dealership for its first oil change and the service attendant asked me how I was liking it. So, I brought it up to him about the strong gas smell in my garage after driving car. He informed me that this is not the first time that they have heard this. He said they are researching at this time but have not been able to locate the issue. He stated that they were thinking it was the winter gas and I said no way. If gas was the issue, why is it only the 2022 Nissan Rogue having an issue with the gas. Makes no sense. He stated there is no recall on it yet seeing as they cannot figure out the issue, but I will most likely be seeing a recall once they figure it out. They noted on receipt that "they were unable to duplicate concern, no fuel leak at fuel lines or tank. Nissan is aware of issue and seeking a remedy, customer will be notified." This is very scary to me, it is a strong smell, like there is raw gas leaking. I am afraid of it catching fire or just the fact of inhaling these fumes are not safe. This is a huge safety hazard and Nissan does not seem to care. Are they waiting for something horrible to happen before they take this seriously?
After getting into my vehicle to leave work i shut my door and my rear window exploded.
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle would not start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred, and the battery was replaced a second time. The contact was also made aware of an oil leak. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that cylinder #3 was misfiring possibly due to the spark plug. The mechanic reset the check engine warning light however, the warning light returned. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 32,000.
Unknown Very strong gas smell inside the vehicle and outside the vehicle and under hood. This started with less the 4000 miles on it and it is just over 6200 miles at this time. I brought it to local nissan dealer lia nissan of Saratoga and was advised they can not find anything wrong with it and they can not do anything without a recall. So I am driving a vehicle around with excessive gas smell inside and out. This seems dangerous to me. I did express my concern to both the dealership and nissan themselves and they still refuse to do anything. I asked what happens if I am in an accident and my car starts on fore or if I am driving and my car starts on fire. The service recep. Said well it looks like you will have a law suit. So don't think they realize this is not good. Breathing in gas is a health issue and this should be addressed and should not be ignored. These vehicles had gas issues the year prior so why isn't this a concern for nissan. This is a new vehicle smelling gas is a hazard and puts myself, my family and people driving around me at risk. Please consider reviewing this further. Thank you Jill Tracy
I do not feel safe in my new car. There’s a problem with the turbo\acceleration. It won’t accelerate for 2–3 seconds when I push the gas. And when it does it jumps forward fairly fast. If I’m at a stop and I’m ready to cross and I take my foot off the break and the car is going like 1 mile an hour… then press the gas… it’s as if it’s in neutral. The car won’t move forward for 2-3 seconds. It’s going to get me into an accident. For example, If I am at an intersection, and I cross and a car fails to stop at the stop sign… And I see them coming towards my car… I will not be able to move out of the way because of the acceleration problem. Or if I’m on the highway and am slowing down due to treaffic ahead, and the car behind me doesn’t see and slams on their breaks and I see and hear it and look to my left and see no cars and I want to speed up into the left to avoid being hit by this car behind me…. My car will not move and I will get hit anyway. I have a five year old son. I do not feel that he and I are safe in this car. Are all these new Rogues like this????? If so, it needs to be fixed immediately!! Please help!!!
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while reversing, the rear-view camera intermittently went blank. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V772000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under the recall because the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5.
I purchased a 2022 Nissan Rogue Platinum brand new in March of 2022. On the drive home from the dealership, I noticed my driver's side rear view mirror was quite shaky. After speaking with my salesperson, I tried to fold the mirror in and back out again to see if that would help the situation. It did not. Whenever I drive at speeds as low as 20 mph, the mirror will shake and give a distorted view. I took the vehicle into a local dealership to have the mechanics look at it and possibly fix it. My car has less than 500 miles on it at this point. The technicians could not figure out how to fix the issue. The service manager drove my vehicle and confirmed the issue. Then, he drove another new Rogue on the lot. He found that Rogue to have the same issue. He contacted a Nissan field engineer who stated the issue is known and considered to be normal. I am unsure how it could be considered normal as the passenger mirror works as expected, but the driver's mirror shakes and vibrates.
The contact owns a 2022 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal became stuck while driving approximately 10-25 MPH in a parking lot on two occasions. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V437000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer confirmed that parts were not yet available for the recall repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 200.
