TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT BELIEVED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE BUT THE DEALER ADVISED HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 191,565.
2001 NISSAN SENTRA. CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND STOPPING. RECALL FOR THE CRANK AND CAM SENSORS. THE OIL DIPSTICK HANDLE BREAKS OFF AND THE BALANCE OF THE DIPSTICK IS UNABLE TO BE RETRIEVED OUT OF THE DIPSTICK CYLINDER UNLESS THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY IS TAKEN APART. THIS A VERY COSTLY PROCEDURE RANGING FROM $200-400. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONE TIME AND IT SEEMS TO ME THAT NISSAN SHOULD PROVIDE A BETTER QUALITY DIPSTICK THAT WILL NOT DETERIORATE AND BREAK FROM WHAT I PERCEIVE AS HEAT RELATED DAMAGE. WILL THEY PAY THE COSTS FOR THIS REPAIR? *TR
THE PLASTIC PORTION OF MY OIL DIPSTICK BROKE OFF ON MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA GXE. THIS CAUSED THE DIPSTICK TO FALL INTO THE ENGINE. I HAD TO PAY FOR A NEW DIPSTICK. THE NEW DIPSTICK IS ALSO PLASTIC AND I ANTICIPATE THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. IT DOES NOT TAKE A GENIUS TO REALIZE THAT YOU SHOULD NOT USE PLASTIC ON AN ENGINE PART!!! *TR
TOP OF DIPSTICK BROKE OFF, LEAVING METAL SHAFT UNRETRIEVABLE IN TUBE. *TR
THE DIPSTICK BROKE OFF IN THE TUBE ON MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. THE METAL STICK AND PLASTIC TOP TO THE STICK ARE ABOUT 3 INCHES IN THE TUBE AND ARE UNRETREIVABLE BY MYSELF. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE $250 TO GET THE STICK OUT AND REPLACE IT. *TR
MY 2002 NISSAN SENTRA GXE OIL DIP STICK BROKE WHEN I WAS PULLING IT OUT TO CHECK MY OIL LEVEL. I DID A SEARCH ONLINE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM
THE OIL DIPSTICK HANDLE BROKE AND THE PASTIC ABOVE THE DIPSTICK IS WELDED TO THE METAL TUBE. THE DIPSTICK CANNOT BE REMOVED. I BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT DIPSTICK ONLINE, BUT THE NISSAN TECHNICIANS SAY IT COSTS $200 IN SERVICE TO REMOVE THE TUBE AND GET THE OLD ONE OUT. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE WHILE STEERING THE VEHICLE. SIX MONTHS AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED, SHE HAD TO ADD POWER STEERING FLUID TO THE VEHICLE. ON JUNE 18, 2007, THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NO LEAK WAS FOUND. ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2007, THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE FRONT WHEEL ALIGNED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,312 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,613. UPDATED 12/12/07
ON 5-4-07 I NOTICED DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE WAS FLAT. MY BOYFRIEND FILLED IT WITH AIR AND I THOUGHT NOTHING FURTHER OF IT. ON 5-15-07 I PICKED HIM UP FROM WORK AND HAD A FLAT ON THE WAY OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. WE FILLED IT WITH AIR, BUT COULD NOT MAKE IT HOME BEFORE IT WAS TOTALLY FLAT AGAIN. SINCE IT WAS AFTER 11 PM AND WE WERE CLOSE TO HOME I CONTINUED TO DRIVE. ONCE WE ARRIVED THE TIRE HAD A CHUNK OF TREAD MISSING, EXPOSING METAL BARBS, ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE. THE BOY FRIEND CHANGED IT THE NEXT DAY SO WE COULD TAKE IT TO DISCOUNT TIRE. THEY INFORMED US THAT 3 OF THE 4 TIRES WERE BAD, THE OTHER 2 WOULD END UP HAVING TREAD TORN IN THE SAME WA, DUE TO MECHANICAL ERROR IN MANUFACTURING OF THE TIRE. ALTHOUGH THEY WERE STILL UNDER WARRANTY PER MILEAGE, WE STILL HAD TO BUY 4 NEW TIRES.*AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 10 MPH, THERE WAS A NOISE FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE AND VIBRATION WAS FELT THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL. A NHTSA RECALL # 01V174000 WAS FOUND ON THE MANUFACTURER'S WEBSITE, FOR THE SUSPENSION: FRONT: CONTROL ARM: LOWER ARM. THE VIN # FELL WITHIN THE VIN NUMBERS FOR THE RECALL, BUT THE MANUFACTURER DENIED THE CONTACT OF THE RECALL REPAIR, ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTERWARDS, THE ENGINE RESTARTED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH THE STALLING PROBLEM DID NOT PERSIST, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO DETERMINED THE CRANK CAM SENSOR NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. AFTERWARDS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT NO PARTICULAR SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE "CHECK ENGINE SOON" LAMP REMAINED ILLUMINATED. INTERMITTENTLY, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED WITHOUT HAVING TO REMAIN IN THE OFF POSITION FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REMAINS FOR ADDITIONAL TESTING. A NHTSA RECALL, # 01V357000, WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE CONCERNING, THE ENGINE AND GASOLINE SEVERAL YEARS AGO; HOWEVER, THE RECALL DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT OFFER A SECOND REPAIR WITHOUT CHARGE UNDER THE RECALL.
OEM 6-DISC IN DASH CD CHANGER SHOWS ERR2, AND DOES NOT PLAY CDS. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER ON 4-9-07 THAT IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $79 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE DONE A LITTLE RESEARCH, AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS SEEMED TO BE A VERY WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE NISSAN IN DASH CD CHANGER. ALSO, THAT NISSAN SEEMED TO BE IGNORING OR DENYING THE PROBLEM. AK
CONSUMER NISSAN SENTRA ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH BEFORE RECALL NOTICE. DIAGNOSTIC READ ECM HAD A FAILURE CODE FOR #4 CYLINDER MISFIRE P0304. *TS THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO HAVE THE ECM REPLACMENT PERFORMED. *JB
I OWN A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, THE HORN STOPPED WORKING. WE FINALLY TOOK IT IN TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE CALLED SAYING THE HORN WORKS, THE FUSE IS FINE AND THE RELAY WORKS, BUT SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE FUSE AND THE RELAY, IT'S LOSING POWER; LIKELY A SHORT IN THE WIRE. BUT THEY SAID IT IS WIRED IN SUCH A CONVOLUTED WAY THAT IT'S GOING TO TAKE ANOTHER 2 HOURS TO FIND THE RIGHT WIRE AND FIX. I FOUND THIS IN AN INTERNET MESSAGE BOARD: "JUST CURIOUS IF ANY OTHERS HAVE ISSUES WITH THEIR 00-06 SENTRA HORNS...MEANING YOU HIT YOUR HORN OR KEY FOB AND NO SOUND FROM THE HORN? I HAD MY 2001 SE FIXED AROUND 60,XXX...FOUND OUT FROM NISSAN THAT THE WIRES ARE A BIT SHORT RUNNING TO THE HORN SPEAKER...I THINK THE WIRING GOES UNDER THE RADIATOR. IT GETS STRESSED AND RUBS SOMEWHERE AND DUE TO CORROSION OR TOTAL BREAKAGE THE HORN THEN NO LONGER FUNCTIONS. THE PART I'M PISSED ABOUT IS THAT NOW AT 68K THE PROBLEM IS ONCE AGAIN BACK. I KNOW ACCORDING TO MY FATHER WHO USE TO WORK FOR A COMPANY THAT PROVIDES TECHNICAL SUPPORT TO PRIVATE GARAGES AROUND THE U.S. THAT THIS IN FACT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE SENTRA'S, BUT ACCORDING TO NISSAN DOES NOT REQUIRE AN NTSB. SAFETY FEATURE IN MY OPINION. NISSAN SAYS I'LL HAVE TO BRING IT IN AND PAY FOR DIAGNOSIS. I THINK I CALL THE REGIONAL MANAGER. TWICE I'VE HAD SOMEONE ALMOST HIT ME AND I HAVE NO HORN. ''NISSAN SAID CHECK THE FUSE...THEIR TYPICAL RESPONSE. AFTER TALKING AT LENGTH TO THE NISSAN DEALER THAT LAST FIXED THIS ISSUE THEY FINALLY GAVE UP AND SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE THE SAME ISSUE WAS BACK." AFTER THIS, I CALLED MY LOCAL NISSAN REPAIR SHOP (517 393-5700) AND SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER. AFTER TELLING HIM THE PROBLEM, HE PUT ME ON HOLD AND CHECKED THEIR RECORDS. HE INDICATED TO ME THAT YES, THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL OF NISSAN, BUT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING NISSAN NOR THEY COULD DO RE: FIXING THE HORN WHICH IS CAUSED BY AN ADMITTEDLY POORLY DESIGNED HORN WIRING SYSTEM. *JB
SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT: THE HORN WIRE INSIDE AN INTERNAL WIRING HARNESS ON MY 2001 SENTRA FAILED SPONTANEOUSLY ON OR ABOUT FEBRUARY 15, 2006, RENDERING THE HORN INOPERABLE AND INCAPABLE OF PASSING THE RHODE ISLAND STATE SAFETY INSPECTION. THREE DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES OF THE DEALER (INSKIP NISSAN, WARWICK RI) MADE STATEMENTS TO ME INDICATING THAT THIS TYPE OF HORN FAILURE HAPPENS REPEATEDLY, IS WELL KNOWN TO THEM, AND IS NOT CAUSED BY ANY EXTERNAL FORCE, SUCH AS COLLISION OR ROAD DAMAGE. I HAVE INSPECTED THE AREA, WHICH IS NEAR THE UNDERSIDE OF THE RADIATOR, AND IT IS CLEAR THAT THE WIRING HARNESS IS WELL PROTECTED BY VARIOUS FRONT-END COMPONENTS AND HARD TO GET AT. THE BROKEN WIRE WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER ON 4/5/06 AT A COST OF $180.00 FOR A LITTLE OVER TWO HOURS WORK. THE DEALERS SERVICE CLERK TOLD ME EXACTLY WHAT THE COST WOULD BE AT THE TIME SHE WROTE UP THE REPAIR ORDER, PRIOR TO INSPECTING THE VEHICLE FOR THE CAUSE OF THE HORN FAILURE. I SUGGESTED AN INEXPENSIVE BYPASS WIRE, AND SHE STATED THAT OTHERS HAD EFFECTED A REPAIR IN THAT MANNER (FURTHER EVIDENCE THAT THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE IS WELL KNOWN THE THEM) BUT ALSO UNDERSTANDABLY STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT PERMITTED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR IN THAT MANNER. I SUBMITTED A COPY OF THE REPAIR BILL TO NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON 4/8/06 ASKING FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF THE $180 AS A SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT, AND THEY WROTE BACK ON 4/12/06 DENYING THE CLAIM. THE NHTSA SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS BY INSPECTING DEALER SERVICE RECORDS AND INITIATE A RECALL. *JB
AFTER RUNNING NORMALLY, MY CAR SUDDENLY QUIT STARTING, AND LEFT ME STRANDED WITH MY CHILD ACROSS TOWN. I TOWED IT TO A FIRESTONE SERVICE STATION FOR REPAIR ONLY TO FIND OUT THE FAILURE WAS A CAM SHAFT SENSOR. THE REPAIR STATION THEN FOUND OUT FOR ME THAT MY CAR HAD 3 OPEN RECALLS WHICH I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF. I HAVE NOW PAID FOR ANOTHER TOW TO GET MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THESE "COVERED" REPAIRS COMPLETED. NOW, NISSAN REFUSES TO PAY FOR ANY OF MY TOWS OR THE BILL I HAD TO PAY FIRESTONE FOR "DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES". *JB
WHEN I CHECKED THE OIL LEVEL FOR MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA GXE, I SAW THE OIL DIPSTICK BROKEN. I CHECKED THE INTERNET TO SEE IF IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM, YES IT IS. A LOT OF NISSAN OWNERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM WHICH MAY BE CAUSED BY CHEAP PLASTIC TOP OF THE DIPSTICK THAT FAILS UNDER HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE. IF OIL DIPSTICKS ARE DEFECTIVE BY THE MANUFACTURER, NISSAN SENTRA'S SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR FIX-UP. *NM
1. POWER WINDOWS (BOTH FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FRONT) FAILED TO OPERATE PROPERLY IN MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA VIN: [XXX] WITHIN 12 MONTH AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER (CORAL SPRINGS NISSAN) AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS NOT MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I RECENTLY SEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MANY OTHER 2001 NISSAN SENTRA ENCOUNTRED THE SAME PROBLEM. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. MY SECOND PROBLEM STARTED RECENTLY WHERE MY CAR'S ENGINE SUDDENLY QUITS RUNNING AFTER 15-20 MINUTES OF NORMAL DRIVING. IF I LET IT COOL DOWN AND WAIT 10-15 MINUTES, IT STARTS AND RUNS FOR ANOTHER 10 MINUTES BEFORE QUITING AGAIN. MY SENTRA WAS RECALLED ONCE( CAMPAIN#: 01V357000) IN JAN 2004 TO REPLACE THE FAULT CRANK SHAFT SENSORS, YET I AM STILL HAVING THIS PROBLEM. ON NHTSA WEBSITE I SEE INFORMATION ABOUT CAMPAIGN#: 03V455000. ,HOWEVER NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THAT CRANK SHAFT SENSORS IN MY CAR NEED TO BE FURTHER REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. 2001 SENTRA GXE NOT DRIVEABLE; ENGINE REVS AND LURCHES ON ITS OWN AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. FIRST TIME I WAS AT HOME, HAD THE CAR TOWED AND REPLACED MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR. $835 AND LESS THAN 48 HOURS LATER, CAR DID EXACT SAME THING ONLY AT A STOPLIGHT THIS TIME. CAR DIED AND BEGAN REVVING AND LURCHING AS SOON AS I RE-STARTED ENGINE. TOWED TO ORIGINAL MECHANIC WHO COULDN'T DETERMINE PROBLEM. CAR IS NOW AT DEALER WAITING TO BE LOOKED AT.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERY SUMMER, SHE HAS TO REPLACE THE OIL DIP STICK. SHE STATED THAT THE PLASTIC TOP FAILS AND AS A RESULT, THE TECHNICIAN IS UNABLE TO CHANGE THE OIL. THE DIP STICK IS THE ONLY TYPE THAT IS MANUFACTURED FOR THIS PART. THE DEALER ADVISED HER TO PURCHASE THE STICKS. AFTER THE MOST RECENT FAILURE, THE DEALER STATED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $300. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 104,075 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONSUMER STATED THE INCIDENT HAPPENED 3 SEPARATE TIMES. UPDATED 09/05/07 *TR
THE REAR BUMPER OF MY OWN CAR WAS FIXED THE LAST MONTH BECAUSE SOMEBODY CRASH IT... I BRING IT BACK TO THE BODY SHOP REPEATEDLY TIMES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM... SO, MY CLAIM IS, IF I HIT THE BUMPER WITH MY KNEE, IT CREATE A BIG SPACE BETWEEN THE REAR LIGHTS AND THE BUMPER... BUT THE DEALER SAID IS ANY PROBLEM TO GET FIXED THERE. *NM
DT: WHILE DRIVING A CHILD CAME IN FRONT OF VEHICLE AND THE OWNER TRIED TO USE THE HORN AND IT DIDN'T WORK. THE OWNER NOTICED ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO THE HORN STOPPED WORKING. DEALER CHARGED 89 DOLLARS FOR DIAGNOSIS, AND REPORTED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING HARNESS. DEALER REPORTS THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS PAST WARRANTY, THEN THERE WOULD BE NO FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ON THE PART OF NISSAN. OWNER NOTICED OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE. THE HORN HAS NOT WORKED SINCE THE FIRST FAILURE, AND THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON IN THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS PEDAL STICKING AND THE DEALER REPORTED THAT WAS A NORMAL MAINTENANCE ISSUE. NISSAN REPORTS THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DECELERATE THE VEHICLE WITH BRAKING. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA GXE STARTED SPUTTERING IN FEB 05, ALSO AN ELECTRICAL BUZZING SOUND WOULD OCCUR AT THE SAME TIME. THE CAR STALLED OUT ONCE WHILE DRIVING. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THE ECM WAS BAD. IT WAS REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE (HIDDEN 8YR/80,000 MILE WARRANTY ON THAT PART). THE NEXT DAY IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE STARTER/ECM SENSOR WAS REPLACED. I'M STILL NOT CONVINCED THE PROBLEM IS FIXED AND WORRY EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT.*AK
NISSAN SENTRA 2001, PROBLEMS WITH STEERING AND BRAKES. *BF THE CONSUMER WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF 2 RECALLS BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT CORROSION AND A LOOSE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. THE DEALER STATED EITHER RECALL COULD HAVE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. *JB
ONE YEAR AGO I PURCHASED A USED CAR FROM WENDLE @ THE Y. I FELT AS THOUGH I WAS GETTING A GOOD DEAL ON MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA, WHICH HAD ACCEPTABLY LOW MILEAGE. *AK I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING MY CAR REFINANCED WHEN THE FINANCE COMPANY CALLED AND TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT HELP ME WITH MY LOAN. THEY EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS OBVIOUS MY NISSAN'S ODOMETER HAD BEEN ROLLED BACK SOMETIME BETWEEN 11/3/03 AND 2/23/04. THE FINANCE COMPANY WAS KIND ENOUGH TO FAX THE THE CARFAX REPORT SHOWING THE SUSPECTED ODOMETER ROLLBACK. WITH EACH OIL CHANGE MY CAR HAS HAD, THE MILEAGE HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED WITH CARFAX. YOU CAN SEE THE STEADY PROGRESSION UP TO 50,693 MILES ON 11/3/03, YET WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR ON 2/7/04, THE CAR ONLY REGISTERED 31,675 MILES. I CONTACTED SHANE, THE GM AT WENDLE, ON FRIDAY 2/4; HE IMMEDIATELY SKIRTED AROUND THE ISSUE TRYING TO ASSURE ME THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN MISTYPED IN THE CARFAX REPORT. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT YOU COULD SEE THE MILEAGE PROGRESSION AND IT WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT A MISTYPE. I AM NOW LEFT WITH A CAR THAT I NO LONGER AM HAPPY WITH DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT HAS 20,000 MORE MILES THAN I THOUGH AND I CANNOT GET IT REFINANCED. WENDLE IS NOT RESPONDING IN A TIMELY MANNER AND I WOULD LIKE SOME RESOLUTION.
ON JUNE 24,2004 I HAD A CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND EMC FOAM REMOVAL RECALLS DONE ON MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. MY VEHICLE HAS TOTALLY SHUT DOWN WITH OUT ANY NOISE OR WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT LEAST 4 TIMES SINCE DECEMBER 2004. THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES INVOLVED. I HAD TAKEN MY SENTRA TO A NISSAN DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK ON JAN.31,2005 AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE DID NOT SHOW ANY CODES AND THAT IT WAS A LOOSE BATTERY CABLE SO THEY REPLACED IT. LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER ASAP. THE SERVICE REP THEN TOLD ME HE PUT HIS BEST TECHNICIAN TO WORK ON MY VEHICLE AND HE FOUND THE CRANKSHAFT POSSITION SENSOR WAS BAD AND IT WAS REPLACED, BUT WHEN I QUESTION THE REP ABOUT THE EMC CODES AGAIN HE TOLD ME THAT HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BECAUSE MY SENTRA WAS THE FIRST VEHICLE TO DO THIS WITH A RECALLED SENSOR. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE EMC AND THIS RECALLED SENSOR BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. NOTHING WAS DONE BY THE NISSAN DEALER TO ASSURE ME THAT MY VEHICLE WILL NOT DO THIS AGAIN.
NISSAN SENTRA 2001 SE. MOTOR STOPPED ON FREEWAY AT ONCE, FAILURE WAS CRANK SENSOR. COST ME 500 PARTS TOW AND LABOR, NO DEALER AROUND OR OPEN. NEW SENSOR FAILING NOW I THINK, SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT ON AGAIN. ECM PROBLEMS , ALSO FRONT RIM BROKE AND CAUSED THE CAR TO GO IN DITCH, NEEDS BODY REPAIR NOW. BAD VIBRATION IN STEERING. HAVE TRIED TO GET THIS CAR FIXED AT DEALER NO LUCK ALSO TRIED NISSAN CONSUMER AFF. THEY ALSO HAD NO LUCK GETTING CAR IN FOR SAFETY FIXES. THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS AND NEVER RETURN MY CALLS. *NM
I CHANGED MY OIL ON MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA AND WHEN I REMOVED THE OIL DIPSTICK, THE PLASTIC HANDLE BROKE OFF LEAVING A PIECE OF THE PLASTIC HANDLE AND THE DIPSTICK LODGED INSIDE OF THE METAL TUBE. I HAVE SEARCHED OTHER SITES AND HAVE FOUND THAT MANY OTHER MOTORISTS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IT COSTS A LOT OF MONEY FOR A REPAIR SHOP TO REMOVE THE DIPSTICK. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN USING A PLASTIC HANDLE ON AN OIL DIPSTICK.
INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS CAR STALLING WHILE DRIVING, CAR ROUGH IDLE, CAR NOT STARTING, CAR SPURTING WHILE DRIVING, CAR NOT GOING INTO OVERDRIVE CAR HAS BEEN TOWED TWICE, BEEN TO TWO DEALERS, AND 1 MECHANIC THAT TOLD ME THAT IT IS IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM AND THAT THE DEALER NEEDS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. FROM MY RESEARCH, DIAGNOSTIC CODES ARE EITHER NOT BEING REPORTED BY A BAD SENSOR OR THE ECM IS NOT STORING THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES. *NM

THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, BUT WHEN MY HUSBAND TOOK THE CAR TO GET THE OIL CHANGED THE MECHANIC REALIZED THAT THE DIPSTICK HAD BROKEN OFF AND HAD FALLEN INTO THE TUBE. THE MECHANIC ALSO TOLD MY HUSBAND THAT THERE WERE OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. HE SAID THAT IT WAS A NISSAN FAULT ON THE CAR. I DON'T FEEL THAT WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING TO GET IT FIXED SINCE THE DIPSTICK IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND IS SO CLOSE TO OTHER HEATED ENGINE PARTS. BEING SO CLOSE TO THOSE OTHER PARTS SURELY MADE THE PIECE MELT AND LATER BREAK OFF. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS 2001 NISSAN SENTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARALLEL PARKING SHE HIT A CURB AND DENTED THE WHEEL. THE CONSUMER REPLACED THE WHEEL AT HER OWN COST OF $27.86. THE SERVICE DEALER DID NOT STATE WHY THE WHEEL WAS DENTED. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER ONCE, BUT DID NOT GET ANY RESPONSE. ALL FOUR WHEELS HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPLACED BY NISSAN BECAUSE OF A DEFECT IN THE ORIGINAL WHEELS ON THE VEHICLE. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THE METAL USED IN THE WHEELS ARE OF A POOR QUALITY. NISSAN SENTRA 2001 HAD A RECALL TO REMOVE THE FOAM COVERING THE ECM. I HAD THIS DONE JUNE 2004..THE PROBLEM WITH THE FOAM WAS AS IT CURED , IF THERE WAS A CRACK ON THE SURFACE LINING, CORROSION OF THE RESISTOR COULD CAUSE THE ECM TO MALFUNCTION. WELL I HAD THE FOAM REMOVED BUT I FEEL THE CORROSION WAS PROBABLY ALREADY OCCURRING SO IN 6 MONTHS THE ECM WENT BAD. NISSAN REFUSED TO PAY TO REPLACE THE ECM. *JB

CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 03V455000 CONCERNING CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WELD. HOWEVER, THERE WAS ANOTHER RECALL FOR 03V477000 ECM MATERIAL WHICH WAS CONNECTED TO THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. CONSUMER DID NOT RECEIVE THE RECALL FOR THE ECM. *AK ON 3/31/04 THE ENGINE SENSOR REPLACEMENT CAMPAIGN REPAIRS WERE MADE. HOWEVER, ON 12/03/04 THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON (SES) LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE TECH REPLACED THE KNOCK SENSOR, THERMOSTAT AND FAN BELTS. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT THE SPEED LIMIT ON HIGHWAY 94 IN SAN DIEGO, WHEN THE REAR RIGHT TIRE EXPLODED AT APPROXIMATELY 1:45 P.M. THE BLOWOUT CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT SIDE DOOR, REAR RIGHT PANEL AND REAR BUMPER. THE CAR WENT INTO A 360 SPIN IN THE FAST LANE AND MEDIAN OF THE FREEWAY. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO A&C PAINT AND BODY AT 7083 BROADWAY, LEMON GROVE, CA AT THE REQUEST OF MY DAUGHTER'S INSURANCE AGENCY - TOPA INSURANCE. THE OBVIOUS DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER AFTER PICKING THE CAR UP, MY DAUGHTER NOTICED A SHIMY IN THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. THERE IS SOME SORT OF APPARENT DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END THAT WAS NOT DETECTED BY THE BODY SHOP. ADDITIONALLY, THE DAY AFTER PICKING THE CAR UP SHE NOTICED THAT THE REAR LEFT TIRE IS ALSO BADLY DAMAGED, PROBABLY FROM THE CAR SPINNING DURING THE ACCIDENT. THE OLD TIRE WAS COMPLETELY SHREADED, SO THERE IS NO OLD PART AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. I HAD HER PARK THE CAR UNTIL WE CAN CONTACT HER INSURANCE COMPANY TO REPORT THE PREVIOUSLY UNDETECTED DAMAGES. MY DAUGHTER WAS HELPED BY A SAN DIEGO COUNTY SHERIFF, BUT HE DID NOT WRITE ANY TYPE OF INCIDENT REPORT. HE ONLY ASKED IF ANYONE WAS INJURED AND IF THERE WAS ANY PROPERTY DAMAGE. SINCE NEITHER HAPPENED, HE DID NOT MAKE A REPORT. MY DAUGHTER CONTACTED HER INSURANCE COMPANY IMMEDIATELY. A&C PAINT AND BODY SENT A TOW TRUCK TO HER APARTMENT THREE DAYS LATER AND TOWED IT TO THEIR FACILITY, WHERE THEY DID THE REPAIRS I HAVE ALREADY DESCRIBED.*AK
REAR TIRE BLEW OUT ON HIGHWAY. FOUND A LUMP STARTING IN SECOND REAR TIRE. PREVIOUSLY I HAD REPLACED THE TWO FRONT TIRES ON 3/24/04 DUE TO LUMPS OR BUBBLES FORMING. ONE OF THESE TIRES STARTED WEARING IN AN ODD WAY AND CAUSED VERY PRONOUNCED VIBRATION. THESE WERE THE OEM TIRES AND AT THAT TIME HAD 37,486 MILES. SEVERAL DAYS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE I HAD NOTICED VIBRATION AND SKIRMYNESS WHILE DRIVING. I VISUALLY INSPECTED THE TIRES AND NOTICED THEY SEEMED OUT OF ROUND AND ODD SHAPED. I PLANNED TO REPLACE THEMM IN A FEW DAYS. I DID NOT THINK AT THE TIME A FAILURE WAS IMMINENT. I WAS WRONG AS THE FAILURE OCCURED TWO DAYS BEFORE I PLANNED TO REPLACE THEM.*AK
IN LESS THAN A YEAR THE CAR HAS HAD THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT GO OFF 7 TIMES. THEY HAVE REPLACED 3 SENSORS (1 AT MY EXPENSE FOR ~$300), THEN THE COMPUTER ON THE CAR THAT TOTALLY DIED. AFTER THAT IT WAS THE EXAHUST SYSTEM AND THEY REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND OTHE PART. NOW FOR THE SEVENTH TIME IN LESS THAN A YEAR THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WENT OFF AGAIN AND THIS TIME IT IS THE O2 SENSOR (OBD II CODE P0160). THIS SENSORS ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST UP TO 100000 MILES AND THE DEALER IS ASKING ME TO PAY ANOTHER $300 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. *JB

WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE FRONT END BEGAN TO VIBRATE AT 29K MILES. AS A RESULT,THE DRIVER SIDE TIRES TREAD SEPARATED. NO IMPACT REPORTED. *AK THE VIBRATION HAD BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE CONSUMER RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER THAT A TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE. *SC *JB
SEVERAL TIMES THE VEHICLE STARTS SHAKING, NOT STARTING AT ALL AND RUNNING ROUGH. IT WAS A ECM RECALL PERFORMED BUT AFTER THAT SEVERAL PROBLEMS OCCURRED AND RELATED TO THE SAME ECM. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL THESE PROBLEMS. THE ECM WAS REPLACED BY THE TIME, THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE, I AM GETTING THE SAME DIAGNOSTIC P0300 AND THE VEHICLE IS DEAD. POOR QUALITY ON THIS NISSAN. 1&2) DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTS TO SHUDDER AND BECOMES HARD TO CONTROL. SLOWED DOWN TO 35 MPH, STILL SHUDDERING BUT NOT AS MUCH. STOPPED AT A LIGHT, THE CAR DIES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. OTHER CARS VEER AROUND ME. TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN IMMEDIATELY. DOESN'T START. WAIT 5 MINUTES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD (IT WAS RAINING AND HAILING AT THE TIME) AND TRY TO START AGAIN. THIS TIME IT STARTS BUT IDLES VERY HEAVILY. AT THIS POINT THE CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT COMES ON. I TRIED TO DRIVE A FEW MORE BLOCKS, AND THE CAR ALMOST ENDED UP DYING IN AN INTERSECTION. AT THAT POINT I PULLED OVER RIGHT AFTER ROLLING SLOWLY OUT OF THE INTERSECTION AND WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE CAR WOULD STILL START BUT I DIDN'T TRUST IT TO DRIVE IT. 3) THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT THE FAILURE IS THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. THE PART IS ONLY AVAILABLE FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP, AND COSTS $488.19 PLUS A HALF HOUR OF LABOR FOR INSTALLATION!!! THE NEW PART ALSO NEEDS TO BE SYNCHED UP WITH THE CAR'S COMPUTER BECAUSE ITS DIFFERENT THAN THE OLD PART SINCE NISSAN KNOWS THAT THE OLD PART IS NO GOOD. SEEMS TO ME THEY SHOULD HAVE INITIATED A RECALL IF THIS IS REALLY THE CASE. IF YOU HAPPEN TO KNOW THAT ANY OF THIS IS FALSE, I WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE KNOWING THAT. THE TOP OF THE PLASTIC DIPSTICK IN MY 2001 NISSAN SENTRA BROKE OFF TODAY AND THE DIPSTICK ITSELF SLID DOWN INTO THE ENGINE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN, THIS IS COMMON WITH MANY OTHER NISSAN SENTRAS. I NOW NEED TO FIND A REPLACEMENT DIPSTICK AND WAS FORTUNATELY ABLE TO RETRIEVE MINE (EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOW BROKEN). HOWEVER, SOME DEALERSHIPS ARE TRYING TO CHARGE OVER $100 TO RETRIEVE THE DIPSTICK. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. ALSO, MY POWER WINDOWS ARE STARTING TO STICK AND NOT GO UP AND DOWN. MY CAR IS BARELY 3 YRS OLD; THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS TOO. *AK
