I HAVE RECEIVED TWO RECALL NOTICES (16V-349 AND 17V-449) ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THESE NOTICES CAME MANY MONTHS APART. AFTER RECEIVING EACH NOTICE, AT MY NEXT SERVICE APPOINTMENT (PRIORITY NISSAN, TYSONS CORNER, VIRGINIA) I INQUIRED, AND I WAS TOLD THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE, BUT WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN COMING MONTHS (E.G., IF I ASKED IN OCTOBER, I WAS TOLD THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN SPRING). I AM BEGINNING TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO REAL INTENTION TO HONOR THESE RECALLS, AND I AM FEELING SOMEWHAT UNEASY WHEN DRIVING THE CAR.
TAKATA RECALL BEGINNING OF OCTOBER, I WENT TO NISSAN WORKSHOP AND NO AIRBAG WAS AVAILABLE. THEY SHOULD CALL ME BACK WHEN PART WILL BE ON SITE. HOW LONG SHOULD THIS TAKE? CAN TAKAKA PRODUCE NEW PARTS? HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO HAVE MY AIRBAG CHANGED? THANK YOU FOR SUPPORT SINCERELY
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER RECALL PERTAINING TO THE AIR BAGS. THE MANUFACTURER LATER SENT THE INTERIM NOTICE STATING THAT THE PARTS MAY BECOME AVAILABLE IN MID SPRING OF 2018. THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD NEED TO WAIT TO RECEIVE A SECOND NOTICE TO DETERMINE WHEN TO CONTACT A DEALER TO SCHEDULE A RECALL REPAIR. A DEALER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE VIN AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WE RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM NISSAN THAT THE AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE WAS VERY DANGEROUS. DO NOT LET ANYONE RIDE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I WENT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULDNT GET THE PARTS TO FIX IT. IT WAS APPROXIMATLEY 8-9 MONTHS LATER WHEN THEY FINALLY RECEIVED THE PARTS. LT WAS A REAL HARDSHIP TO NOT CARRY ANY PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT FOR THAT LONG. THE DEALER ALLOWED ME TO TAKE ONE OF THEIR CARS FOR 1 WEEKEND BUT I COULDNT ASK FOR ANY MORE. I AM NOT SURE ABOUT ANY DATES ANYMORE.

TAKATA RECALL, GOT A RECALL FOR PASSENEGER AIRBAG RECALL WHICH SAID DON'T LET ANYONE RIDE IN PASSENGER SEAT UNITL REPLACED WHICH I DID THE PART TOOK OVER 6 MONTHS TO GET IN TOOK THE CAR IN HAD THE PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACED. YESTERDAY I GOT IN THE MAIL ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE DRIVERS AIRBAG RECALL , BUT IT SAYS AWAITING PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN SPRING 2018!! REASON FOR RECALL THE AIRBAG CAN RUPTURE IN A CRASH WHICH COULD RESULT IN METAL SHRAPNEL STRIKING THE DRIVER OT OTHER OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE, WHICH CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH!! WHY IN THE HELL DID I RECEIVE TWO SEPARATE RECALLS FOR THE AIRBAGS , SEEMS TO ME THEY SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THEM AT THE SAME TIME.I COMMUTE IN THE CAR WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO?SAYS TO CALL NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR DETAILS IF I REQUIRE ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION OR COMPLIMENTARY LOANER VEHICLE UPON REQUEST..ARE YOU SERIOUS YOU THINK THEY ARE GOINT T O GIVE ME A LOANER VEHICLE TILL THE SPRING? TAKATA RECALL - TOOK AUTO TO DEALER FOR RECALL ON PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. AFTER COMPLETION AND OIL CHANGE DEALER TELLS ME ABOUT A RECALL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. HAVE NOT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION YET. DEALER SUGGESTS WE PARK THE AUTO AND NOT DRIVE IT UNTIL PARTS TO REPAIR ARE AVAILABLE, WHICH WILL BE APRIL OF 2018. THAT IS 7 MONTHS! WILL GIVE US A "NEW" RENTAL VEHICLE EVERY 30 DAYS, BUT WE HAVE TO FURNISH INSURANCE COVERAGE ON THE VEHICLE. FOR WORK I PARK IN A GARAGE, AND SCRATCHES AND OCCASIONALLY DINGS HAPPEN. THIS WOULD BE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR FOR ME, BUT THEY ARE EXPLAINING THAT MY INSURANCE WOULD HAVE TO REPAIR. I HAVE A $500 DEDUCTIBLE, AND THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE A VERY EXPENSIVE SOLUTION. TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE PASSENGER'S AIR BAG INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED WHILE THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS UNOCCUPIED. THE DEPLOYMENT CAUSED THE DRIVER TO CRASH INTO A TREE. THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK AND NECK INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V449000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

NISSAN NOTIFIES ME OF THE RECALL BUT ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE IN A TIMELY MANNER FORCE ME TO DRIVE A DANGEROUS CAR PUTTING ME AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER ALONG WITH OTHERS OF THE PUBLIC WHO HAVE TO SHARE THE ROAD WITH THESE DANGEROUS CARS
TAKATA RECALL - OUR 2008 NISSAN VERSA HAD A RECALL NOTICE THAT I RECEIVED IN MARCH 2017, STATING "DO NOT ALLOW PASSENGERS TO RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT" DUE TO METAL SHRAPNEL POTENTIALLY STRIKING DRIVER OR PASSENGERS AND CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. IT ALSO STATED "NISSAN ANTICIPATES PARTS TO BE AVAILABLE FOR YOUR VERSA BY THE END OF APRIL 2017". SINCE THEN, I HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY NEW UPDATES OR NOTICE FROM NISSAN. IN AUGUST 2017, I PHONED NISSAN'S CONSUMER AFFAIRS DIVISION AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG ALSO HAD A RECALL FOR SIMILAR FATAL RISK. THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK INTO A FORM OF COMPENSATION SINCE THE CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. AFTER SETTING ME UP WITH A LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP (CAMPBELL NISSAN OF EDMONDS), I WOULD FIND OUT THE DEALERSHIP EXPECTED ME TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AS A PREREQUISITE TO GET SETUP WITH ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR. THIS SEEMED TO BE FLAWED PLAN, CONSIDERING THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG POSED A FATAL RISK. ALONG WITH THAT, BECAUSE THE RENTAL CAR WOULD REQUIRE ME TO ADD INSURANCE NEW COVERAGES, NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ANY ADDITIONAL INSURANCE COST I HAD TO ASSUME FOR THEIR RENTAL LOANER VEHICLE. THE TAKATA AIRBAGS PARTS STILL DO NOT HAVE AN EXPECTED DATE. WITH THE LACK OF NOTICE (PHONE CALL, EMAIL, LETTER) OUTSIDE OF THE INITIAL NOTIFICATION FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO MY WIFE AND I DUE TO THE LACK OF COMMUNICATION AND OWNERSHIP ON NISSAN'S PART. NOT ONLY THAT, THEY HAVE SETUP A VERY POOR SYSTEM FOR HELPING CONSUMER'S TRANSITION TO THEIR OFFERING OF A RENTAL VEHICLE. ATTACHED ARE THE ORIGINAL LETTER I RECEIVED AS WELL AS A "CAMPAIGN VEHICLE STORAGE AGREEMENT" THAT NISSAN REQUESTED I SIGN, EVEN THOUGH IT SUGGESTED I WAS OK TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO AND FROM THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE REPAIR. I CALLED THE NISSAN DEALER EMPIRE NISSAN ONTARIO, CA (909) 906-7424. I WAS THE PARTS WOULDN'T BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SPRING 2018. I ASKED SHOULD I STILL BE DRIVING MY CAR, IS IT SAFE? AT THAT TIME THE DEALER TOLD ME TO CALL NISSAN NORTH AMERICA HEADQUARTER, THERE WAS NOTHING HE DO OR SAY ABOUT MY CAR AND THE RECALL. I TRIED SEVERAL TIME TO CALL THE HEADQUARTERS AND I HAVE BEEN PUT ON HOLD FOR LONG PERIOD OF TIME TO WHERE I HAD TO HANG UP. CONTINUED EXPOSURE TO AREAS WITH HIGH LEVELS OF ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY MY CAUSE THE FRONT DRIVER AIR BAG INFLATOR HOUSING TO RUPTURE AND DEPLOY ABNORMALLY. IF THE DRIVER AIR BAG INFLATOR RUPTURES, IT MAY RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. TAKATA RECALL I HAVE REPEATEDLY CONTACTED NISSAN FOR ASSISTANCE IN GETTING THIS RECALL ADDRESSED. EACH TIME, THEY KEEP TELLING ME ILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL "NEXT SPRING" FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN. IN THE MEAN TIME, I AM PUTTING MYSELF AND OTHER PASSENGERS AT RISK OF INJURY AND/OR DEATH.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIR FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V349000 (AIR BAGS) UNTIL THE UNKNOWN FAILURE THAT CAUSED THE AIR BAG INDICATOR TO ILLUMINATE COULD BE REPAIRED. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WOULD ALSO BE NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

THE LOWER FRONT CONTROL ARM ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHICH HOLDS THE FRONT WHEEL ON THE FRAME BROKE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PART LETTING THE FRONT WHEEL LOOSE FROM THE CAR. A SMALL PORTION OF METAL THAT DID NOT BREAK HELD THE TIRE ON. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED BEFORE AN ACCIDENT HAPPENED. THE PERSON DRIVING WAS ON A MAIN ROAD IN A MAJOR U.S., CITY. THE FRONT TIRE HAD RUBBED AGAINST THE FRONT PLASTIC BUMPER AND ACTUALLY PEALED SOME OF IT OFF. THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAS BEEN REPLACED ON THIS VEHICLE AND IS IN MY POSSESSION. THE REPLACEMENT WAS DONE BY A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC CLAIMS IT IS A NISSAN PART.

I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY WERE WILLING TO REIMBURSE ME FOR A CAR RENTAL WITHIN 2-4 WEEKS AFTER I PAID FOR A RENTAL CAR. NISSAN REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE EXTENDED INSURANCE NEEDED TO COVER A RENTAL VEHICLE NOR THE DEPOSIT. IF THEY'RE CLAIMING LIABILITY HOW IS IT THAT WE THE CONSUMER SHOULD SUFFER PERSONAL AND FINANCIAL ANGUISH WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT WE'RE FORCED TO PUT OURSELVES OR A FAMILY MEMBER IN HARM'S WAY BECAUSE OF NISSAN'S REFUSAL TO PROVIDE A RENTAL CAR WITHOUT FINANCIAL ATTACHMENTS.

IT IS NOW THE BEGINNING OF JULY AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY UPDATES AND NO REPAIRS. I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO DRIVE WITH PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT AND I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR PARTS AND NOTIFICATION OF REPAIR FOR OVER THREE MONTHS. MY INITIAL LETTER STATES THAT IF MY RECALL IS NOT COMPLETED IN A TIMELY MANNER THAT I SHOULD FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA, AND I AM DOING THAT NOW. PLEASE HELP ME GET MY VEHICLE REPAIRED.

THE DEALER IS ONLY TOLD BY NISSAN TO ADVISE THE CUSTOMER NOT TO USE THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THIS IS NOT DOABLE. WE CANNOT SELL THE CAR WITH THIS PROBLEM, CANNOT SAFELY USE THE CAR AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN OR HOW THE PROBLEM WILL BE SOLVED.

THE RECALL STATES: "NISSAN IS CURRENTLY AWAITING PARTS TO REMEDY THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. NISSAN WILL SEND YOU A SECOND LETTER, WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE, ASKING YOU TO BRING YOUR VEHICLE TO AN NISSAN DEALER FOR THE REMEDY AT THAT TIME." THIS HAS BEEN ALMOST 7 FULL MONTHS, AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANYTHING REGARDING THE NEW PARTS BEING AVAILABLE, SO I AM STILL DRIVING WITH A CAR WITH A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG.
COLD WEATHER CAUSES BRAKE PEDAL TO LOCK. LIKE SOMEONE PUT A CEMENT BLOCK UNDER THE PEDAL, IT WILL NOT PUSH DOWN AND BRAKES DO NOT ENGAGE. MUST PUSH HARD TO UNLOCK AND PUMP A FEW TIMES TO HAVE BRAKES WORK. CAR WAS IN MOTION FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED AND STATIONARY THE SECOND TIME.
TAKATA AIRBAGS: I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN TWICE FOR THE SAME RECALL. FIRST TIME, I WAS TOLD A TEMPORARY PART WAS PUT IN UNTIL THE PERMANENT ONE CAME FROM THE MANUFACTURER (THAT WAS EARLIER THIS YEAR), THEN I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS SAME DEALERSHIP THAT THE PERMANENT PART WAS IN. SO I TOOK IT BACK IN JULY FOR IT TO BE INSTALLED AND YET, THAT PART HAS BEEN RECALLED ALSO. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME "THEY ARE WAITING ON THE MANUFACTURER FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART THAT WILL FINALLY FIX THIS ISSUE WITH THE TAKATA INFLATOR AIRBAG ISSUE. MEANWHILE AND AS I WAIT, I AM PUTTING MYSELF IN DANGER DRIVING THE CAR AND THOSE WHO RIDE WITH ME. THIS INFLATOR ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND SOON! I NEED HELP GETTING THE PROPER RESOLUTION THAT WILL REMEDY THIS SITUATION. THE MANUFACTURER NEED TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS AND MAKE THIS A PRIORITY TO GET RESOLVED AS I HAVE TWO NISSAN VERSA'S AND BOTH HAVE THE SAME TAKATA INFLATOR ISSUES UNDER THE RECALL. MY OTHER CAR IS A 2010 ALSO NEEDING THE PERMANENT PART TO FIX IT'S INFLATOR ISSUE.
