TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON EVEN THOUGH TIRES HAVE CORRECT AIR PRESSURE. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 VERSA THAT IS REPEATEDLY HAVING ISSUES STARTING. I HAVE HAD EVERYTHING CHECKED AND IT SEEMS TO BE THE FUEL PUMP. I AM AFRAID I WILL END UP STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WHEN IT FINALLY GOES OUT SINCE I AM HAVING TO TURN THE KEY FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE I CAN START THE CAR AND THAT IS IF I CAN EVEN GET IT TO START. IT SOMETIMES MAKES ME RUN OF GAS EVEN THOUGH I HAD PLENTY OF GAS IN THE CAR WHEN I ORIGINALLY TRIED TO START IT. SINCE I NORMALLY HAVE TO DRIVE A DISTANCE, THIS IS GOING TO LEAVE ME STRANDED ONE DAY AND I AM NOT SURE IF I LIKE HAVING TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED WHEN I SEE THAT THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME CAR. *TR
MY TIRE SENSOR LIGHT COMES ON CONSTANTLY AND USUALLY HAPPENS RIGHT AFTER I GO TO GET SERVICE OF SOME NATURE. IT WAS ON WITHIN DAYS AFTER MY PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE AND HAS CONTINUED SINCE. I AM DILIGENT ABOUT CHECKING AIR PRESSURE IT IS ALWAYS WRONG. RECENTLY, MY TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A HUGE HOLE/GASH. I REPLACED 2 AND PUT THEM ON THE FRONT. I NOTICED MY DRIVERS SIDE TIRE ALWAYS LOOKED FLAT AND WHEN I WENT TO CHECK IT, THE METAL COVER WAS CORRODED AND REQUIRED PLIERS TO GET IT OFF. WELL SURE ENOUGH, THE ENTIRE TOP BROKE OFF LEAVING THE TIRE STEM EXPOSED. TOOK IT TO THE PLACE WHO PUT ON THE NEW TIRES AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE SENSOR. NOW I AM CONSTANTLY FILLING THE TIRES REGARDLESS OF TEMP AND NOW I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE THIS SENSOR THAT IS CLEARLY NOT WORKING. MY FEAR IS THAT THE GASH IN MY TIRE HAPPENED AS A RESULT OF THE SENSOR. WAS IT ON AND I IGNORED IT BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS WRONG? OR WORSE YET, DID THE DAMAGE COME FROM INSIDE? I AM NOT SURE BUT I CAN TELL YOU I WILL NEVER REPLACE ONE AGAIN. IT IS SAD THAT SOMETHING THAT IS DESIGNED TO BE A SAFETY FEATURE ENDS UP BEING IGNORED BECAUSE IT IS ALWAYS WRONG. MY DAUGHTER JUST STARTED DRIVING AND I EVEN TOLD HER TO IGNORE IT. THAT IS NOT A GOOD WAY TO START OFF DEALING WITH CARS. THANKFULLY NOTHING SERIOUS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DRIVING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR COIL SPRINGS FRACTURED, WHILE DRIVING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH OR ABOVE. TIRE PRESSURE HAS BEEN CHECKED AND IS ALWAYS CORRECT AT 32 PSI. HAPPENS CONSTANTLY. TOOK CAR TO DEALER, THEY CAN FIND NO ERROR CODES IN COMPUTER. THEY RESET IT MANUALLY, TOOK A RODE TRIP 2 DAYS LATER AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. IT WILL STAY ON UNTIL I GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, OR WILL FLASH ON AND OFF AND THEN GO BACK OFF AGAIN. *TR
LOW TIRE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON.I HAVE HAD IT TURNED OF BY NISSAN SEVERAL TIMES. I CHECK THE AIR PRESSURE REGULARLY SO I KNOW THE TIRE PRESSURE IS NOT LOW. *TR
I OWN A NISSAN VERSA 2008 HATCHBACK. AFTER I PULL AWAY FROM THE GAS PUMP, THE CAR WAS LOSING ITS ACCELERATION AND THEN STALL. I WAS TRYING TO START AGAIN BUT IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER. THE CAR WAS TOWED. I WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL PUMP WENT BAD. MY BASIC WARRANTY EXPIRED TWO MONTHS AGO (DECEMBER 5, 2010). THE FUEL PUMP WAS RECPLACED AT MY EXPENSES. *LN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH OR ABOVE, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY STALL WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO ADVISED HIM THAT HE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,100. THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOUND IN SOME VERSA SLS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS, RELATING TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM. IT HAS BEEN FOUND THAT ON HOT DAYS, THIS SWITCH MAY MOVE, AND CAUSE THE HYDRAULIC CLUTCH TO DISENGAGE PREMATURELY. THIS PROBLEM CAN BE DANGEROUS IF IT OCCURS IN A REMOTE AREA OR ON A HEAVILY TRAFFICKED ROAD. THIS PROBLEM WILL SEVERELY COMPROMISE YOUR VEHICLES ABILITY TO MOVE, AND YOUR CAR MAY END UP DISABLED OR POSSIBLY WITH A BURNED OUT CLUTCH IF YOU IGNORE IT. THERE SEEMS TO BE A GROWING TREND WITH CLUTCH PROBLEMS IN NISSAN VERSA'S RANGING FROM MILEAGE OF 168 AND UP. NISSAN FAILS TO RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM.
LOW PRESSURE TIRE LIGHT GOES ON INTERMITTENTLY WHEN DOING HIGHWAY DRIVING AND TIRE PRESSURE IS FINE. DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING AROUND TOWN, ONLY ON HIGHWAY. LIGHT WILL EITHER BLINK OR STAY ON UNTIL I SLOW DOWN OR GET OFF HIGHWAY. TOOK CAR TO DEALER, THEY CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM NOR DOES THE COMPUTER SHOW ANY ERROR CODES. DEALER VERIFIED TIRE PRESSURE WAS CORRECT. OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WAS SENDING AN IMPROPER MESSAGE TO THE COMPUTER, INDICATING THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS LOW. THE TIRE WAS NOT LOW IN AIR SO THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AFTER STOPPING, CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH THE PEDAL WAS PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND MAY CAUSE SERIOUS BODILY INJURY IF NOT ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY!!!! *TR
THIS IS MY FIRST NEW CAR I HAVE EVER OWN AND HAVE PUT MORE MONEY INTO IT THEN ANY OF MY OLD CARS. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT IT IN APRIL OF 2010 I IMMEDIATELY HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES AND HUBCAPS. ONE OF MY HUBCAPS FELL OFF AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT. IT FELL OFF DUE TO A CLIP THAT WAS INITIALLY MISSING ON IT WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT. FOLLOWING THAT CAME MY TIRE PROBLEMS. FOR THE PAST 7 MONTHS I HAVE DEALT WITH TIRE PRESSURE PROBLEMS. AS A MATTER OF FACT I HAVE BEEN GETTING MY TIRES REFILLED ABOUT TWO TIMES A WEEK. FINALLY I DECIDED TO HAVE THEM RESEALED(COST 27$ A TIRE) AND AS THEY WERE DOING THAT THEY FOUND THAT MY TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR INSIDE THE TIRE WAS CORRODED. THEREFORE I HAD TO SPEND 97$ AND HAVE THEM REPLACE THIS BECAUSE IT WAS BEYOND SAVING. TWO DAYS LATER I ENDED UP BACK AT THE TIRE PLACE FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE MORE SENSORS. IM VERY UNHAPPY ABOUT MY NEW CAR, IF I WOULD HAVE KNOWN I WAS GOING TO HAVE SO MANY ISSUES WITH THE TIRES I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT A DIFFERENT BRAND. I DIDN'T BUY A NEW CAR TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IT, THIS WAS THE PROBLEMS I WAS TRYING TO GET AWAY FROM!! *TR
FRONT SEATS BACKS NOT HOLDING IN PLACE. PUSHING THE CHAIR TRYING TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF POCKET, THE BACK SLIPS BACK. THE OTHER DAY HIT IN BACK OF CAR AND THE SEAT COLLAPSED INTO THE BACK SEAT. *TR
I OWN A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. RECENTLY STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH LOSING POWER AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF DRIVING. THE PROBLEM STARTED AFTER DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS, THE CAR WOULD LOSE POWER AND ONLY GO ABOUT 20 MPH. IF ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED, THE CAR WOULD STALL OUT COMPLETELY. AFTER TWO VISITS TO NISSAN DEALERS, THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. I AM AFRAID TO TAKE THIS CAR ON ANY EXTENDED TRIPS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR THE GAS MILEAGE...NOW HAVING TO TAKE ANOTHER VEHICLE FOR SAFETY. *TR
CLUNK OR POPPING NOISE COMING FOR THE FRONT SUSPENSION OR STEERING COLUMN. THIS CAN BE HEARD AND FELT WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 10 MPH IN COMBINATION WITH TURNING. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS CAR CPO AND THE AIR CONDITIONER HAS NEVER BLOWN COLD AIR. IT BLOWS ACCORDING TO THE CONTROLS, BUT THE AIR IS NEVER COLD. EVERY SUMMER I HAVE TO HAVE IT SERVICED. I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT SEVERAL THINGS HAVE BEEN WRONG WITH IT OR CAUSE THAT. SOMETIMES I'M TOLD IT'S SOMETHING NEW, AND I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN REPAIRED IN THE PAST IS AGAIN/STILL WRONG WITH IT, CAUSING THIS. I'VE REPEATEDLY HAD IT SERVICED ONCE A YEAR (USUALLY IN SUMMER) SINCE PURCHASED. I'VE HAD IT CHARGED, FREON, HOSES REPAIRED, ETC. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS A MAJOR FAULT IN THIS CAR FOR ITS MODEL YEAR. THERE ARE MANY NISSAN VERSA DRIVERS FOR YEARS 2008 AND 09 IN MANY NISSAN DRIVER ONLINE FORUMS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME THING. I'M CONVINCED THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND I DO NOT WANT TO PAY FOR SERVICE AGAIN THIS YEAR, ALTHOUGH THE A/C STILL DEFINITELY DOESN'T BLOW COLD AIR AT THE MOMENT. I THINK THESE MODELS SHOULD BE RECALLED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON. HE ADDED AIR TO THE TIRES AND DROVE OVER 16 MPH BUT THE SENSOR DID NOT RESET AS INDICATED IN THE USERS MANUAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE BUT THEY MANUALLY RESET THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSOR. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO MANUALLY RESET THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED A THIRD TIME AND THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN TO MANUALLY RESET THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE LANES AND SLOW DOWN, THE BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION AND SHE COULD NOT CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED HEAD AND BACK PAIN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
WE OWN A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. IT CURRENTLY ONLY HAS 9,400 MILES ON IT. WHEN DRIVING IT THERE IS A "POPPING" FEEL UNDERNEATH THE FLOORBOARDS/ IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 2-26-09 WHERE THEY REPLACED BOTH UPPER STRUT BEARINGS AND COMPLETED A FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME ISSUES AND ON AUGUST 5, 2009 BOTH UPPER STRUT BEARINGS WERE REPLACED AND ANOTHER ALIGNMENT WAS COMPLETED. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN YESTERDAY WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. THIS TIME THEY SAY THEY CAN'T "HEAR" IT (YOU CAN'T HEAR IT, BUT YOU CAN FEEL IT), SO THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. THEY REFUSED TO EVEN PUT IT UP ON THE LIFT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE ASSEMBLY SINCE THEY COULDN'T "HEAR" ANYTHING. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, WE ARE SEEING THIS SAME COMPLAINT ON MANY DIFFERENT WEBSITES. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THESE VEHICLES. ONE LISTED ON THIS SITE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT APPARENTLY DUE TO THE STRUT FAILURE. *TR
PARKED 2008 NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK IN FRONT OF MY CONDO AT NIGHT. IN MORNING CRACK FOUND STARTING FROM BOTTOM OF WINDSHIELD ON DRIVER'S SIDE GOING UP ABOUT 2 INCHES AND THEN ACROSS BOTTOM OF WINDSHIELD. CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUY I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY. DEALER REFUSED TO ADDRESS IT WHEN DROPPED IT OFF FOR SERVICE. *TR
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CRUISE SET TO 72MPH, WE DID TURN THE AC ON AND A FEW MINUTES AFTER THAT THE CAR SHUT OFF AND I HAD TO FORCE THE WHEEL TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THANK GOD I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE BECAUSE IF NOT I WOULD HAVE BEEN STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I GOT MY CAR MOST OF THE WAY OFF THE ROAD BUT WHEN I TRIED TO RESTART IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND I DID TRY TO START IT AGAIN WHILE WAITING AND STILL NOTHING. IT WAS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE TO BE SITTING ON THE SIDE OF A HIGHWAY BECAUSE MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF. *TR
STEERING WHEEL HAS A CLUNKING FEEL AND MAKES A CLUNKING NOISE WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNS SHARPLY TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WHEN STOPPED OR AT LOW SPEEDS. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS TWICE WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERS FOR OIL CHANGES AND WAS TOLD "THAT IS JUST THE WAY STE STEERING COLUMN FEELS". *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED HE NOTICED A HAIRLINE FRACTURE IN THE FRONT WINDSHIELD OF THE VEHICLE. A FEW HOURS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FRACTURE HAD SPREAD ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD AND UP TO THE ROOF. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 37,000.
2008 NISSAN VERSA HUBCAPS HAS FLOWN AWAY WHILE CRUISING IN HIGHWAY AT 60-65 MPH. THIS HAPPENED TWICE ALREADY. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I BROUGHT THE CAR TO SERVICE CENTER AND THEY CHECKED THE INSTALLATION AND EVERYTHING LOOKED OK. BOUGHT NEW HUBCAP AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER ~4 MONTHS. THIS IS POTENTIAL TO CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE AND DANGER TO OTHER VEHICLES. *TR
WE TOO HAD A PROBLEM WITH OUR 2008 VERSA. WE HAD AN ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND SO WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT IN AT 22,000 MILES. THEY SAID WE HAD NO OIL CHANGES EXCEPT ONE. WE ARGUED THE POINT AND GOT NO WHERE. THEY STATED WE HAD NO OIL. WE SAID WHERE DID IT GO -- THEY DIDN'T KNOW! TALKED TO THE MANAGER AND GOT NOWHERE AT BUCKEYE NISSAN. HE PROMISED TO TALK TO CORPORATE AND WE GOT NOWHERE AGAIN. THAT WAS CLEAR BACK IN MARCH OF 2010. SO MUCH FOR WARRANTIES. THEY WANTED TO PUT IN A NEW ENGINE AT $4,500 ON A 2 YEAR OLD CAR. I'LL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN NOR WORK WITH A COMPANY THAT DOESN'T STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCT. WE HAVE HAD OTHER CARS IN WHICH THEY HAVE ALWAYS HAD THEIR OIL CHANGES AND RETIRED THESE CARS AT 200,000+ MILES. WE PRESENTLY HAVE A 1999 DODGE RAM AND IT HAS 283,000+ MILES AND STILL RUNNING. AND....THEY SAID "WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAINTAIN OUR VEHICLES." OUR SECOND-HAND FORD EXPLORER SUV HAD 243,000 WHEN WE SOLD IT. AND OUR OTHER DODGE WHICH WAS RETIRED TO THE JUNK YARD HAD CLOSE TO 220,000 MILES. OUR OLD VEHICLES USUALLY HAD TRANSMISSIONS GO OUT AND THAT IS THE REASON WE WENT WITH THE VERSA BECAUSE OF THE HISTORY ON THEIR TRANSMISSION. WHEN WE HAD IT IN FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT, THEIR STORY CHANGED 3 TIMES ON WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND FINALLY ENDED UP WITH THE ENGINE. NO BIG DEAL -- ONLY $4,500 ON A VEHICLE LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. NOW I'M DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT DRIVES WORSE THAN ANY OF OUR 15 YEAR OLD CARS EVER DID, OIL NEEDING CHANGED CONSTANTLY, DIP STICK COMING OUT ON OCCASION AND SPRAYING OIL EVERYWHERE, AND NOW STALLING OUT!. WHEN AIR-CONDITIONER IS RUN -- PUTS A FILM ON WINDOW WHICH FOGS UP. WHAT NEXT. SO MUCH FOR OUR FIRST NEW CAR IN YEARS AND DRIVING OUR GRANDCHILDREN AROUND SAFELY FOR SCHOOL. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISAPPOINTED NOR UPSET WITH A COMPANY AS I HAVE WITH THIS COMPANY AND STANDING BEHIND THEIR WARRANTIES. AND EVEN MORE SO WITH NO RESPONSE BACK. THE FRONT LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY 2008 NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK STARTED TO THUD/THUMP WHEN TURNING TO THE RIGHT AT LOW SPEED. NOW THE VEHICLE CANNOT NOT TURN RIGHT QUICKLY, THUS I COULD NOT AVOID AN ACCIDENT IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. I HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER AND THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE SYMPTOMS, BUT I ENCOUNTER DAILY. *TR

THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM BEGAN TO FLASH AND THEN WENT TO A STEADY SIGNAL. WHEN I PULLED OVER TO CHECK THE TIRE PRESSURE IT WAS FINE. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN ALMOST DAILY AND IS STILL HAPPENING. ON ONE OCCASION I IGNORED IT AND LATER THAT DAY I HAD A BLOW OUT DUE TO LOW TIRE PRESSURE. I CANNOT GET THE DEALER TO FIX THIS. I CHANGED WHEELS AND ADDED NEW TIRES AND THE CONDITION CONTINUES. ON SOME DAYS WHILE DRIVING IT WILL START TO MALFUNCTION AND THEN TURN OFF. ON OTHER DAYS IT IS FINE. I HAVE SEEN ONLINE THAT SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.

PREMATURE WEARING OF REAR BRAKES, SQUEALING AND VIBRATION. THERE WAS A SQUEAKING PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 2/18/2008. THE REAR BRAKE SHOES WERE REPLACE ON 9/26/08 WITH 5,460 MILES ON VEHICLE. CAR WAS SENT TO NISSAN DEALER FOR STATE INSPECTION ON 12/8/2009 WITH 17,339 MILES. REAR BRAKE LININGS WERE DOWN TO 2/32 OF AN INCH. NISSAN WILL NOT FIX UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A CLUNK OR POP THAT IS BOTH AUDIBLE AND FELT IN THE WHEEL WHEN MAKING TURNS TO THE RIGHT AT LOW SPEEDS. AT 10,000 MILES I BEGAN HEARING AND FEELING THIS CLUNK. AT 18,000 MILES I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN AND THAT IT WAS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE STOPPED THE SOUND AND THE POP/CLUNK. 1000 MILES LATER THE SOUND STARTED REAPPEARING. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES SINCE AND THE DEALER CLAIMS TO NOT BE ABLE TO HEAR THE SOUND. I AM AWARE OF TWO TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ON THIS ISSUE. I BELIEVE THE PART IS SYSTEMIC DEFECTIVE AND UNSAFE. I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE RESEARCHED AS A DEFECT AND REQUIRES A RECALL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING A 2008 NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK [XXX] AT 50MPH IN A 50MPH ZONE IN THE LEFT LANE OF A TWO-LANE WESTBOUND STREET AT 5:03PM ON A DAY IN SEPTEMBER, 2009 WHEN A CAR IN FRONT OF ME CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN ORDER TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN (WHERE THERE WAS NO TURN POCKET). I DID NOT NOTICE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY UNTIL IT WAS TOO LATE - I HIT THE BRAKES AS HARD AS I COULD. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, BUT I IMMEDIATELY WENT INTO A VERY STRAIGHT, WHEELS-LOCKED SKID, DECELERATING TO A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 20MPH AT THE MOMENT OF IMPACT. THE TWO OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE I HIT WERE INJURED, AT LEAST ONE OF THEM WAS HOSPITALIZED. MY CAR WAS TOTALED SINCE THE REPAIR ESTIMATE CAME IN AT THE SAME AMOUNT AS THE LOAN PAYOFF AMOUNT. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES HAD WORKED WELL IN TWO EMERGENCY STOPS EARLIER IN THE YEAR. THE ACCIDENT LEFT A 30+ FOOT LONG SET OF SKID MARKS AT THE ACCIDENT SCENE. THE ENGINE IS VERY DIFFICULT TO START ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. MY 2008 NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK HAS ABOUT 20000 KM ON IT AN HAS HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED ONCE ALREADY UNDER WARRANTY BY THE DEALER ABOUT ONE YEAR AGO. NOW I AM ENCOUNTERING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. IF YOU LEAVE THE IGNITION TURNED ON FOR 15 TO 30 SECONDS THEN THE CAR WILL START. I SUSPECT THE FUEL PUMP HAS A PROBLEM BUILDING UP SUFFICIENT PRESSURE TO DELIVER FUEL TO THE CAR AND THAT IS WHY IT WILL START ON A SECOND ATTEMPT. *TR
HELLO I HAVE A NISSAN VERSA 2008 WHICH HAS 22000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS IT FAILS ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. MY 2008 NISSAN VERSA HATCHBACK WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE CRACKED WHILE SITTING OVERNIGHT IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE CRACK ORIGINATES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, TRAVELS UPWARDS ABOUT 3 INCHES AND THEN TRAVELS ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD TOWARDS THE DRIVER FOR 10 INCHES AND THEN BACK DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE ARE NO STONE CHIPS OR VISIBLE DEFECT AT THE CRACK INITIATION SITES. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE DEALER INFORMED ME IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
FRONT AXLES "CLICK" WHEN MAKING TURNS. CVT TRANSMISSION CUTS OUT OR STALLS WHEN MAKING TURNS AND/OR ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. OCCURRENCE IS 3-5 X WEEKLY. I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE 9-10 TIMES. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT AXLES AND TRANSMISSION WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. *TR

1ST...AFTER 25K MILES THE CAR BEGAN TO SHIFT ON ITS OWN IRREGULARLY, FINALLY AT 45K IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE CVT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS COVERED IT ACTUALLY COST ME 1,800 FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. SECOND PROBLEM WAS A THUMPING NOISE AS I WENT OVER A BUMP IN THE FRONT END THAT WAS DIAGNOSED AS DAMAGED STRUTS AND THE SUB FRAME LINKS, THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY, AND WE ARE STUCK WITH THIS ONGOING FAULTY PROBLEM. ON JAN 27TH 2009 A PICK-UP ATTEMPTED A LEFT TURN DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. I HIT THE PICK-UP IN THE PASSENGER DOOR DOING ABOUT 25 MPH. THE AIR BAG ON MY 2008 NISSAN VERSA DID NOT DEPLOY AND I STRUCK MY HEAD CAUSING A CONCUSSION. *TR

THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN ROTATED THE TIRES AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HUBCAP CAME OFF. THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN REFUSED TO ASSIST HIM. THE CONTACT WROTE LETTERS TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST, INCLUDING THE MANUFACTURER. THE DEALER LATER OFFERED HIM ONE HUBCAP AS COMPENSATION.
