AFTER INVESTIGATING STRANGE NOISE FROM FRONT SUSPENSION AREA, DISCOVERED THAT BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE COIL SPRINGS WERE BROKEN. ONE BROKEN SPRING END CAME CLOSE TO PUNCTURING TIRE (WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED). HAVE OWNED MANY CARS OVER MANY YEARS AND NEVER HAD A COIL SPRING BREAK. CAR IS NOT DRIVEN UNDER ANY EXTREME CONDITIONS. COST TO REPLACE SPRINGS AND DAMAGED TIRE WAS NEARLY $1000. NISSAN WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY KNOWN PROBLEM WITH VERSA FRONT SPRINGS, BUT NEARLY 50% OF NHTSA COMPLAINTS ON VERSA ARE FOR BROKEN FRONT SPRINGS! IF SPRING HAD PUNCTURED TIRE AT HIGH SPEED, COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A CLICKING NOISE WAS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS ADVISED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE COIL SPRINGS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,835. *TR
I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS LEANING TOWARD THE GROUND ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THE CAR WAS BOUNCY ON THE DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE TECH LOOKED AT IT AND SAID IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN. HE SAID THE BROKEN COIL COULD BREAK THE BRAKE LINE OR PUNCTURE THE TIRE. THE VERSA HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, IS ONLY 7000 MILES OVER WARRANTY, AND I CAN'T SEE HOW THE COIL COULD HAVE BROKEN IF THE PART WAS NOT FAULTY. *TR
I NOTICED A STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT AREA OF MY CAR WHEN I TURNED THE WHEELS OR HIT A BUMP. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A SAFETY CHECK AND WAS SHOWN THAT I HAD A BROKEN LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING. UNLESS IT'S DEFECTIVE,I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS SPRING SHOULD BREAK EXCEPT IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
MY NISSAN VERSA 2009 MUFFLER SEEMS TO BE CORRODING OR RUSTING TOO QUICKLY. WE FIRST REPLACED PARTS OF THE MUFFLER A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO (IN 2013) AND NOW THE MUFFLER IS GOING BAD AGAIN. I HAVE SEEN OTHER 2009 VERSA OWNER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE MUFFLERS ONLINE. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE DUE TO HAZARDOUS GASES THAT CAN LEAK INTO THE CABIN OR MUFFLERS THAT MAY FALL INTO THE ROAD. *TR
FRONT DRIVER SIDE SUSPENSION SPRING BROKE WHEN PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. THERE IS NO VALID REASON FOR A SUSPENSION SPRING TO SNAP ON A 2009 AUTOMOBILE. THIS CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TIRE. THE COST TO FIX THIS ISSUE IS $700.00 FOR THE SPRING AND NEW TIRE. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD I BEEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY DRIVING AT 65 MPH? *TR

CLUNK SOUND COMING FROM STEERING COLUMN WHEN MAKING RIGHT OR LEFT TURNS.
WE WERE PRACTICALLY STOPPED, WHEN WE WERE REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. WE WERE PUSHED INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US. MY HOOD WAS SMASHED & RADIATOR WAS MOVED ALONG WITH MULTIPLE OTHERS DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE. MY BUMPER WAS PUSHED IN. AFTER THE ACCIDENT I WENT TO MY NEAREST NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO ASK ABOUT THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING. I WAS TOLD THAT U HAD TO BE GOING A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF SPEED FOR THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT THE CAR BEHIND US WAS SPEEDING AND PUSHED US INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US. MY CONCERN IS IF I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD MY SEAT BELT ON I WOULD'VE BEEN THROWN THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. BECAUSE WITH THE IMPACT HITTING FROM BEHIND I WAS LIFTED UP FROM MY SEAT. I STILL SAY THERE WAS A DEFAULT WITH MY AIRBAGS. PLEASE HELP ME WITH SOLVING THIS ISSUE. THANK YOU.. *TR
WITHIN DAYS OF BUYING THE NEW CAR IN 2009, I NOTICED A LOUD, CLUNKING SQUEAK AND A POP FROM AROUND MY FRONT WHEELS WHEN I WOULD MAKE A TURN AFTER SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP. THIS HAD BEEN HAPPENING DURING THE ENTIRE 3.5 YEARS THAT I HAVE HAD THE CAR, SO I FIGURED IT WAS NORMAL AND HARMLESS BECAUSE THE CAR WAS ALREADY DOING IT BRAND NEW (RIGHT NOW THERE ARE STILL ONLY 37,343 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, I PARK IT IN MY GARAGE, AND IT HAS HAD NO ACCIDENTS.) HOWEVER, LAST NIGHT, THE SOUND SEEMED TO BE LOUDER AND LOOSER NEAR THE FRONT-RIGHT WHEEL. THEN THIS MORNING I DROVE OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND AS I BEGAN ACCELERATING TO 50 MPH, A LARGE PIECE OF METAL FLEW OUT VIOLENTLY FROM UNDER MY CAR. I WAS ABLE TO FIND IT IN THE ROADWAY, SO I BACKED UP AND INSPECTED THE PART. IT IS THE BOTTOM COIL OF THE COIL SPRING THAT IS OVER THE RIGHT-FRONT WHEEL. LUCKILY IT DID NOT HIT ANYBODY BEHIND ME OR CUT MY TIRE. THE METAL WAS NOT ONLY BROKEN, BUT THE FACE OF THE BREAK WAS ALREADY SLIGHTLY RUSTED, AS IF IT HAD BEEN CRACKED FOR A WHILE BEFORE SNAPPING. *TR

VEHICLE ACCELERATES TO A HIGH SPEED WITH SLIGHT TAP OR WILL NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN VERSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EXHAUST SHOOK AND MADE A LOUD NOISE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE FLANGE THAT CONNECTS THE MANIFOLD TO THE ENGINE ALONG WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 56,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE DRIVER SIDE SPRING OF MY 2009 NISSAN VERSA BROKE WHEN I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE GARAGE. I HEARD A BIG BANG AND ASSUMED IT WAS FROM ICE BUILD UP. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE PULLED HARD TO THE LEFT. TURNS OUT THE SPRING HAD SHEARED PREVIOUSLY (AS RUST HAD BUILT UP ON THE BREAK POINT) AND IT LET GO AT THAT TIME. MY DRIVER SIDE STRUT IS BENT AS A RESULT OF THE SPRING BREAKING. *TR
WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN A CROWDED, BUSY COSTCO LOT OUR VERSA STOPPED RUNNING. NO WARNING, JUST STOPPED AND WOULD NOT START. CAR WAS TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER WHERE WE WERE TOLD THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW NISSAN KNOWS THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE VERSA BUT HAS ISSUED NO RECALL ONLY A TECHNICAL BULLETIN SO THEY DO NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PROBLEM. HAD OUR CAR STOPPED ON THE HIGHWAY DURING A SNOW STORM THE RESULT MIGHT HAVE ENDED WITH LOSS OF LIFE. MY 2009 NISSAN VERSA JUST HAD A FUEL PUMP FAILURE (14 FEB 2013). I USE THIS CAR FOUR DAYS A WEEK TO COMMUTE TO WORK 83 MILES EACH WAY. I HAVE COMPLETED ALL MAINTENANCE ON THIS VEHICLE I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY WITHOUT ANY WARNING THAT THIS FUEL PUMP WOULD FAIL. I ALSO REMEMBER RIGHT AFTER I PURCHASED THIS CAR THAT NISSAN REPLACED MY FUEL PUMP AT NO COST TO ME BUT NOW THE SAME FUEL PUMP HAS FAILED ANYWAY TO THE TUNE OF $644.58. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS OF FUEL PUMP FAILURES ON NISSAN VERSA'S. I HAD HOPED THAT NISSAN WOULD RETURN SOME IF NOT ALL OF THE MONEY THAT I HAD TO SPEND OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS SERVICE SINCE THIS APPEARS TO BE A RE-ACCOURING PROBLEM WITH FUEL PUMPS ON NISSAN VERSA'S. I FILED A CLAIM AND THEY TURNED ME DOWN THEY SAID THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THEY PERFORMED A SERVICE RIGHT AFTER I PURCHASED THIS CAR THAT THEY CALLED I BELIEVE A TECHNICAL NOTICE. I WAS LUCKY THIS TIME BECAUSE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE FAILURE ACCOURED AND WAS ABLE TO STEER THE CAR OVER AND OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMETHING (AN ACCIDENT) HAPPENED! I BELIEVE THIS MATTER IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED IF IT HAPPENS AT THE WRONG TIME ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,200.
LEFT FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE. CAR WAS PARKED IN GARAGE AND WHEN IT WAS STARTED IN ORDER TO PULL OUT OF THE GARAGE, MY BOYFRIEND FOUND AN 8 INCH PORTION OF THE COIL SPRING - THE BOTTOM PART OF DRIVER'S SIDE SPRING THAT SITS IN THE SADDLE OF STRUT, ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. *TR
REPEATED FLAT TIRES DUE TO AIR LEAKS WHICH RESULTED IN FINALLY DISCOVERING THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING VALVES ON 3 OF 4 TIRES WERE FAULTY. THESE VALVES WERE $150 EACH WHICH IS MORE THAN THE TIRES COST! WHEN TOOK IN FOR REPAIRS, WAS TOLD THAT THE VALVES ARE MADE OF METAL WHICH IS PRONE TO RUST ESPECIALLY WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED IN THE TIRE WELLS. APPEARS TO BE FAULTY ENGINEERING. CLAIM BY REPAIR PERSONNEL THAT A VALVE LESS LIKELY TO RUST WOULD BE BEST BUT NO VALVE AVAILABLE THAT WILL ALSO MEET NISSAN REQUIREMENTS TO PROVIDE TIRE SENSOR INFORMATION BACK TO THE COMPUTER SIGNAL. WAS TOLD THAT IF THE SENSORS WERE NOT REPLACED COULD HAVE UNEXPECTED FLATS OR BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. I DRIVE OVER 60 MILES A DAY FOR WORK SO SAFETY IS A CONCERN. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN INVESTIGATION ABOUT NEED FOR RECALL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE LANE ON THE HIGHWAY IN A RAINY MORNING AND SAW THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME PUTTING ON BRAKES. I PUT ON THE BRAKES (PRETTY HARD BUT NOT ALL THE WAY THROUGH, 70%). INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN, THE CAR STARTED TO MAKE A SHARP TURN TO THE RIGHT LANE, THEN SWIRLED BACK TO THE MIDDLE LINE AND TO LEFT LINE, AND SPUN INTO A "8" SHAPE FACING THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND SPUN ACROSS THE RIGHT LINE AND THREW ITSELF IN THE DITCH. I WENT TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK OUT THE CAR. WHAT EXPLAINED TO ME IS THAT NISSAN HAVE DRUM BRAKES, AND IN THIS CAUSE, DRUM BRAKES DID NOT HELD THE WHEEL IN THE RAIN. THE FRONT BRAKE STOPPED, BUT DRUM BRAKES FOR BACK WHEELS ARE NOT WORKING, AND THAT CAUSED CAR SPINNING. TO SUM UP, THE BRAKE WORKS FINE WHEN WEATHER IS GOOD, BUT THE MANUFACTURER DEFECT SHOWS UP IN RAINY OR ICY DAYS. DRUM BRAKES DID NOT WORK IN THOSE WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE CAR DID NOT HAVE ABS BRAKES AND THE SALESMAN DID NOT TOLD ME. *TR
MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON SO I DROPPED BY ADVANCED AUTO PARTS TO HAVE THEM PULL THE CODE. IT READ AS CYLINDER 4 MISFIRE. I TOOK IT IN TO MCGEE AUTO TO HAVE A DETAILED DIAGNOSTIC, WHICH INDICATED THAT I HAD A BAD COIL ON ONE OF MY SPARK PLUGS. I HAD FOUR SPARK PLUGS REPLACED, AN IGNITION COIL CHANGED, AND INTAKE MANIFOLD RESEALED; HOWEVER, AFTER LEAVING AND GETTING A FEW MILES UP THE ROAD THE SES LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I STOPPED AT ANOTHER ADVANCED AUTO TO HAVE THE CODE PULLED AND AGAIN IT READ AS A CYLINDER 4 MISFIRE. I CONTACTED THE REPAIR SHOP AND WAS ASKED TO BRING THE CAR BACK IN. THEY DID ANOTHER FULL WORK UP AND AGAIN FOUND EVERYTHING TO BE FINE. AFTER LEAVING THE SHOP AGAIN THE LIGHT CAME ON A FEW MILES UP THE ROAD. THIS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY, AND EVERY TIME THEY WOULD SHUT THE LIGHT OFF IT CAME BACK ON AND REMAINED ON. IN MARCH UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT, I RETURNED TO MCGEE AUTO AND THEY TOOK ANOTHER LOOK. AFTER POSTING MY SYMPTOMS INTO THE COMPUTER THEY NOTICED THAT MY ORIGINAL PLUGS HAD BEEN REPLACED WITH AFTERMARKET PLUGS. THEY REPLACED ALL FOUR PLUGS AND COIL, AND DID SOMETHING WITH THE FUEL INJECTION AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO ME. AFTER LEAVING THE SHOP A COUPLE MILES UP THE ROAD, THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN ON MONDAY, 3/18. FURTHER RESEARCH ENTAILED A COMPRESSION TEST. CYLINDERS 1 THROUGH 3 HAD 130% COMPRESSION, BUT CYLINDER 4 ONLY HAD 70% COMPRESSION. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE ISSUE IS AN ENGINE PROBLEM AND WITHOUT TEARING IT DOWN THEY ARE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE EXACT CAUSE, BUT IT COULD HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE PISTON IN CYLINDER 4. IN CONTACTING NISSAN, THEY FOUND THAT MY WARRANTY COVERAGE IS FOR 60,000 MILES AND UNFORTUNATELY I WAS AT 66,000. WHEN ASKING WHAT THIS REALLY MEANS I WAS TOLD THAT I WILL LIKELY NEED A NEW ENGINE OR A NEW CAR BECAUSE IT WOULD BE COSTLY TO TEAR DOWN THE ENGINE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS I HEARD A LOUD POP. THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO DRIVE FINE BUT THAT WEEKEND I TOOK IT IN FOR REGULAR SERVICE AT A LOCAL SERVICE SHOP. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK FOR THE SOURCE OF THE LOUD POP IN ADDITION TO THE NORMAL SERVICE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT NOT ONE BUT BOTH OF MY FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE SNAPPED AND THAT I WAS LUCKY THE COIL SPRINGS WERE RETAINED ON THE UPPER SUPPORT SHELF AS THEY COULD HAVE SLICED A TIRE POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE HAS 87,000 MILES, HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, AND IS ONLY DRIVEN TO AND FROM WORK 90 MILES ROUND TRIP DAILY ON GOOD HIGHWAYS.. *TR
I WAS TURNING ONTO A SIDE STREET AND HEARD A THUMP UNDER MY HOOD ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. THERE WAS NO DIFFICULTY DRIVING ALTHOUGH I KEPT HEARING THUMPS FOR DAYS AFTER. I WENT IN TO A GARAGE TO GET MY SNOW TIRES PUT ON AND THE GARAGE SAW THAT THE SPRING ABOVE MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE WAS SHEERED IN HALF AND HAD DAMAGED MY TIRE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST NISSAN AND THEY FIXED IT WHILE I WENT AND BOUGHT NEW TIRES. ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER, IT HAPPENED ON THE LEFT SIDE. THEN ABOUT A YEAR AFTER THAT, THE SPRING ABOVE THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BROKE AGAIN, SO I REPLACED IT A THIRD TIME TO A COST OF $1200 PER SPRING. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD NO RECALL WAS IN PLACE FOR THIS. THE MECHANIC AT THE GARAGE TOLD ME THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR. IN ADDITION, AT THE SAME TIME, I NOTICED THE ENGINE LOSING POWER AT DIFFERENT TIMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR UPON ACCELERATION FROM A LOW SPEED TO A HIGH SPEED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO ENGINE TROUBLE NOTED, JUST LOSS OF POWER. SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND TURNING IT BACK ON SEEMS TO RESET IT BUT IT'S AN ONGOING ISSUE. *TR
HATCHBACK LATCH, AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT, FAILED TO OPERATE. REPLACED SWITCH BUT ACCORDING TO MANY TECHNICIANS, PROBLEM IS MORE INVOLVED. WITHOUT OPENING HATCHBACK. VEHICLE WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT AND HATCHBACK MECHANISM SIMPLY FAILED. ONCE AGAIN, NISSAN FAILED TO PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION OR ASSISTANCE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70MPH WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO DECELERATE. AFTER PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I WAS UNABLE TO RE-START THE ENGINE. THE STARTER WOULD TURN THE ENGINE; HOWEVER THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP; THEY LATER CONTACTED ME TELLING ME IT WAS A FUEL PUMP PROBLEM. THEY CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY TO TELL ME NISSAN DOES NOT HAVE THE PART IN STOCK AND THAT IT IS ON BACK ORDER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY, GOING 55MPH AND THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING. LUCKILY I WAS GOING DOWNHILL SO I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT. AFTER STOPPING, I COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO START AGAIN. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK AND SINCE MY WARRANTY HAD ENDED AT 36K MILES, I TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER MECHANIC. HE CALLED A FEW DAYS LATER TO SAY IT WAS MY FUEL PUMP. I HAD TO PAY $687 WHICH LEFT US IN DEBT FOR A FEW WEEKS. I HOPE SOMEONE PAYS ATTENTION TO THESE 20+ COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FUEL PUMP. *TR
I HAD A 2009 NISSAN VERSA(HATCHBACK) THAT WAS MADE DURING 2008 BUT WAS A 2009... I AM SEEING OTHER CARS ON HERE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SEATS. THIS IS VERY TROUBLING! I WAS SITTING STILL IN TRAFFIC WHEN I WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BY A SPEEDING CAR DOING AROUND 60MPH. I KNOW OF SOMEONE ELSE MY HUSBAND WORKS WITH THAT HAS THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR I HAD AND THE SAMETHING HAPPENED TO HIM AFTER HE WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BY A CAR GOING AROUND 50MPH. MUFFLER FLANGE CONNECTING TO EXHAUST PIPE BROKE. THE WELD THAT CONNECTS THE MUFFLER TO THE EXHAUST PIPE BROKE. HAD TO REPLACE ENTIRE MUFFLER OVER A BROKEN WELD. COST OVER 300.00 TO FIX THE ISSUE. OF COURSE, NISSAN WAS NO HELP. *TR
FUEL PUMP OVER-CURRENT CONDITION RESULTING IN OPENING OF FUEL PUMP ELECTRICAL SUPPLY FUSE. PER SERVICE TECHNICIAN, THIS IS INDICATION OF PENDING FUEL PUMP FAILURE. WHEN FUSE BLEW, CAR WENT FROM 65 TO 0 MPH IN LESS THAN EIGHT SECONDS ON US 75, MILE MARKER 49. SHOULD THIS HAD OCCURRED TWO DAYS EARLIER ON INTERSTATE 80, BETWEEN THE I-480 AND 680 INTERCHANGE IN OMAHA, MULTIPLE FATALITIES WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. CASE NO. [XXX] FILED WITH NHTSA ON 6/4/12. THE FIRST INSTANCE HAPPENED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY CAR AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT AT MY HOUSE, I HEARD THE LOUD PING OF METAL SNAPPING. I BACKED UP A LITTLE FARTHER AND STOPPED TO FIND A PIECE OF WHAT I WOULD LATER LEARN WAS PART OF THE COIL SPRING ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE. I TOOK MY CAR THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT COULD HAVE EASILY SLICED OPEN MY TIRE OR BRAKE LINE HAD I BEEN GOING FAST. AFTER A LOT OF BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN US THEY REPAIRED IT WITHOUT CHARGING ME. FAST FORWARD TO JANUARY 12, 2014, 64,500 MILES. I DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHEN THE BREAK OCCURRED THIS TIME, BUT AS I WAS DRIVING HOME, I WOULD HERE A CLANGING SOUND WHENEVER I TURNED OR HIT EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BUMP IN THE ROAD. I CHECKED THE CAR THE NEXT DAY AND NOTICED THE FRONT END WAS LOW. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION, THE PASSENGER SIDE SPRING IS NOW BROKEN. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET A CLOSER LOOK AT IT YET, BUT IT LOOKS BROKEN IN A SIMILAR MANNER TO THE FIRST ONE. EVERYTHING I'VE LOOKED UP TELLS ME THAT THESE SPRINGS ARE NORMALLY SUPPOSE TO LAST OVER 100,000 MILES, AND YET BOTH MINE HAVE BROKEN NOW BEFORE HITTING 65,000 MILES. ONCE AGAIN THE SPRING COULD HAVE EASILY SLICED THE TIRE OR A BRAKE LINE, AND HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THAT HAPPENED IT COULD HAVE EASILY ENDED BADLY. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO, FROM ALL THE OTHER RELATED PROBLEMS I'VE SEEN, IT SOUNDS LIKE A BAD BATCH OF SPRINGS. *TR

I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED IN FRONT OF ME FROM A SIDE STREET. I IMMEDIATELY SWERVED TO THE RIGHT AND ATTEMPTED TO WARN THE OTHER MOTORIST WITH MY HORN, BUT IT DID NOT WORK. I AVOIDED THIS CRASH, BUT STRONGLY BELIEVE A WORKING HORN WOULD HAVE HELPED A LOT IN THIS SITUATION. THE HORN ON THE VEHICLE USUALLY WORKS IF YOU HIT IT IN THE VERY CENTER OF THE BUTTON, BUT ONLY WORKS ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME WHEN IT IS PRESSED ON EITHER SIDE WHERE THE HORN SYMBOLS ARE. WHEN WE TESTED ANOTHER 2009 VERSA AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE HORN WORKED EVEN WORSE THAN MY CAR. NISSAN/NORTH AMERICA AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ASSERT THE HORN IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. I BELIEVE THEY DO NOT WANT TO ADMIT IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WANT TO MAKE REPAIRS. I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND HONOR THEIR MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. I HOPE THIS DANGEROUS DEFECT WILL BE REPAIRED BY NISSAN AT THEIR EXPENSE. *TR

THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEEL PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR ASSISTANCE, WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000. *JS

THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN I CHECKED I FOUND A TIRE THAT WAS DOWN 15LBS. I DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALER WHO SAID THE TPMS UNIT WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $218. THE TIRE ONLY HAS 8,000 MILES ON IT. WILL I HAVE TO REPLACE THE OTHER THREE SENSORS? *KB
I WAS PULLING OUT OF A WAWA AFTER FUELING UP WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I HAD TO PUSH IT TO THE SIDE. THE ROAD IS NORMALLY BUSY THANK GOD THIS DID NOT OCCUR DURING THE BUSY TIME. I GOT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP I EXPLAINED TO THEM MY ISSUES THEY REPAIRED IT BY RESETTING THE ENGINE MODULE THING. I JUST TOOK THE CAR BACK IN MIDDLE OF MARCH DUE TO THE CAR RIDING ROUGH SERVICE LIGHT BACK ON AND THE ENGINE IS MAKING A LOT OF NOISE. THE CAR HAD 30379 MILES ON IT AT THIS POINT. THE DEALERSHIP DEMANDED OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW MOTOR. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO PICK THE CAR UP AND IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I LATER FOUND OUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AFTER DROPPING IT BACK OFF AGAIN. THERE WAS A LOWER ENGINE KNOCK DUE TO THE PISTONS. I FINALLY GOT THE CAR 04/05/2012. I WENT TO DRIVE ON I95 AND THE CAR WAS BEING SLUGISH AND IT WAS HESITANT WITH SWITCHING GEARS. THE CAR IS STILL NOISY AND RIDING ROUGH. THE CAR IS VIBRATING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS LIKE ITS GOING TO STALE. I NOW HOW HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK ANOTHER TIME. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THEY DID A ROAD CHECK AND SAFETY CHECK BUT THERE WAS NO SHEET THAT THEY COULD SHOW ME. I AM NOW AGAIN WITHOUT A VEHICLE. I AM FORTUNATE I DIDNT HAVE MY CHILD WITH ME. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE AT ALL. *TR

JULY 2, 2013 - WHILE DRIVING THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON (SES) LIGHT COMES ON. THE RATE OF SPEED DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE AN IMPACT ON THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP ON 7 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS FOR THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME THE COMPUTER REVEALS THE FOLLOWING CODE: P2A00 A/F SENSOR FAILED. SO FAR THE FOLLOWING REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE: REPLACED FRONT AIR/FUEL SENSOR (NOV 2011), REPLACED O2 SENSOR AND REPROGRAMMED THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) (MAR 2012), REPLACED THE A/F SENSOR FOR THE 2ND TIME, AND REPROGRAMMED THE ECM FOR THE 2ND TIME (APRIL 2013), REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP (MAY 2013), REPLACED THE A/F SENSOR FOR THE 3RD TIME (JUNE 5, 2013), REPROGRAMMED THE ECM (JUNE 18, 2013),AND FINALLY REPLACED THE O2 SENSOR FOR THE 2ND TIME (JUNE 27, 2013). THESE REPAIRS HAVE NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE SES LIGHT HAS COME BACK ON AFTER MY LATEST SERVICE IN JUNE 2013. I AM FRUSTRATED AND FEEL THAT SOMETHING ELSE MUST BE GOING ON. NISSAN IS OF NO HELP AND IS NOT OFFERING ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE OTHER THAN TO REPLACE THE SAME PARTS OVER AND OVER AND REPROGRAM THE ECM. VERY FRUSTRATING! *TR
MY VERSA INTERIOR DOOR PANELS ARE COMING APART AND I HAVE ALREADY HAD ONE REPLACED BUT IT DID IT AGAIN AND NOW ALL OF THE DOORS ARE DOING IT. *TR
WHEN I WENT TO PROCEED THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AFTER BEING STOPPED FOR A RED LIGHT MY CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER. IT MADE CLUNKING NOISES AND EVEN THOUGH I KEPT GIVING IT MORE GAS I BARELY MADE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I THEN STEERED INTO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED OFF THE CAR, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED IT AGAIN. THE ENGINE STARTED BUT I STILL HAD NOISES AND NO POWER TO MOVE FORWARD. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT NEW AND HAVE ALL THE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE DONE. THEY DID A THOROUGH INSPECTION AND SEVERAL ROAD TESTS TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AND NOW HAVE A LOSS OF CONFIDENCE AND AM CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN. AFTER MY BREAKDOWN I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND NO ONE IS ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM.

MY OIL PLUG CAME OUT DURING A 45 MILE DRIVE HOME. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED IN FEB. AND IN JUNE IT FELL OUT DURING THE DRIVE. MY ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING AND ALMOST BLEW UP. IT WAS SMOKING UPON THE STOP TO LOOK AT IT. I PUT 4 QUARTS OF OIL IN IT AND IT CAME OUT IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. I HAD THE OIL PLUG REPLACED AND PUT 5 QUARTS OF OIL IN AND IT HAS BEEN FINE SINCE. *TR
