TAKATA RECALL. I BELIEVE MY CAR IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IT IS A NISSAN VERSA 2013. THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAD RECENTLY STARTED FLASHING WITHOUT ANYTHING MAJOR HAPPENING TO THE CAR. THE PASSENGER SEATBELT LIGHT HAD STARTED FLASHING AFTER I WAS INVOLVED IN A SMALL HIT AND RUN ACCIDENT THAT AFFECTED THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE. I WAS IN FULL STOPPED MOTION AT A TURNING RED LIGHT AND AN UNKNOWN PERSON HAD REAR ENDED MY CAR, SHORTLY AFTER I HAD NOTICED THE PASSENGER SEATBELT LIGHT HAD STARTED FLASHING. I AM IN FEAR THAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT HAVE TO DO WITH THE HIT AND RUN, BUT IT JUST STARTED A FEW WEEKS AGO WHILE THE ACCIDENT WAS OVER 2 YEARS AGO. PLEASE REVIEW AS THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO ME AND I FEAR THAT I MIGHT GET INJURED IF THE AIRBAGS ARE RECALLED AND I GET INTO ANOTHER ACCIDENT. THANK YOU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE IDLING, THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WOULD STALL AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO SAFE MODE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING SOUTH AND A CAR IT ME IN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. TURNED ME AROUND 360DEGREES THE HOLD FRONT IN OF THE CAR WAS GONE. I HAD BROKEN BONES IN MY RIGHT LEG, AND FOOT WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 5 DAYS THEN SENT TO A REHAB FOR 8 WEEKS THEN WAS GIVEN 2 MONTHS OF THERAPY TO BE ABLE TO WALK. I LOST MY JOB BECAUSE OF BEING OFF WORK FOR LONG. STILL IN MY 2 MONTHS OF THERAPY. AIRBAGS EXPLODED AND TORN ALL TO PCS. .. UPDATED 09/30/15*BF
I EXPERIENCED MY CAR SHAKING, REVVING UP AND THEN STALLING AT A PARKING LOT. UPON TRYING TO GET ON THE FREEWAY THE CAR STALLED ON THE FREEWAY ON RAMP. ONCE STARTING THE CAR, I HAD TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY DOWN FOR THE CAR TO GET UP TO 20 MI/HR. THE CAR MAINTAINED THIS SPEED FOR 4-5 MI, SUDDENLY THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE TO 60MI/HR AT WHICH POINT I NEARLY COLLIDED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THEN THE CAR PROCEEDED TO SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THERE'S A POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW IN 2013, HAVE HAD ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, USED TOP TIER FUEL, AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY MAJOR ACCIDENTS, THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 30K MI. *TR
THIS IS AN EVENT SIMILAR TO ODI RESUME (PE 14-018) OPENED ON 06/24/2014 BY THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. SIMILAR TO COMPLAINANT, VOQ 10597004, MY FOOT WAS TRAPPED BY THE TRIM PANEL. PANEL IS LOCATED NEXT TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE LOWER CORNER IS POSITIONED SUCH THAT IT IS NEAR THE RIGHT OUTER EDGE OF THE DRIVER'S SHOE. ALSO SIMILAR TO COMPLAINANT 10573057, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO APPLY THE BRAKE, MY SHOE WAS CAUGHT BY THE TRIM PANEL WHICH DELAYED BRAKING ABILITY SEVERAL TIMES. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A RENTAL FACILITY, ENTERPRISE CAR SALES IN ELMWOOD PARK, NJ. I WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND SLOWLY STARTED BACKING DOWN THE SLOPED DRIVEWAY, AS IT STARTED ROLLING BACK FASTER I APPLIED THE BRAKES HARDER AND THEY DIDN'T WORK. INSTEAD THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO RESPONSE. THE CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL BACKWARDS AND I PUMPED THE BRAKES TO TRY AND GET A RESPONSE AND JUST AS IT REACHED THE STREET THE BRAKES FINALLY CLICKED BACK ON. *TR
TRANSMISSION SHAKES /STUDDERS AND VIBRATES ON ACCELERATION AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN PRESSING ON GAS. ALSO NO DELAY IN ACCELERATION WHEN PRESSING GAS FROM STOP OR SLOW SPEEDS.
LAST NIGHT SUDDENLY ON THE HIGHWAY I-95 IT LOST A POWER. TO BE MORE EXACT, IT SEEMED LIKE TRANSMISSION STUCK ON THE HIGH (4TH) GEAR. ON PARKING OR NEUTRAL GEAR POSITIONS WHEN I PRESS GAS PEDAL, ENGINE REACTS AND INCREASES RPMS, MAKES NOISE, ETC BUT WHEN ON THE DRIVE POSITION, IT BARELY MOVES, LIKE IF YOU TRY TO START FROM 4TH OR 5TH GEAR. THIS MORNING I BROUGHT IT TO THE AUTONATION PEMBROKE PINES NISSAN DEALERSHIP (PEMBROKE PINES, FL). AFTER INSPECTION THEY GAVE ME THE SUCH A SURPRISING CONCLUSION: PROBLEM WITH TAIL LIGHT CAUSED MIS-FUNCTIONING OF TRANSMISSION. AND THE TAILLIGHT WAS FUNCTIONING WELL, NOT DAMAGED. BUT THEY TOLD, HIS ELECTRIC RESISTANCE WAS WRONG. AFTER REPLACING THE TAIL LIGHT TRANSMISSION STARTED WORKING. IT'S REALLY VERY HARD TO BELIEVE, THAT MISFUNCTIONING (WRONG ELECTRICAL RESISTANCE) OF THE TAIL LIGHT CAN AFFECT THE PRIMARY FUNCTIONALITY OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD REALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND INJURIES OR EVEN LOOS OF LIFE. I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 55 SOUTH. I HEARD A POP ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND THE CAR CROSSED OVER INTO THE PASSING LANE AND HIT THE RAIL. I LOST ALL CONTROL OF THE CAR. I HAVE INJURIES SUCH AS BACK STRAIN, WHIPLASH,HAND CONTUSION AND THIGH CONTUSION. THE CAR IS TOTALED AND THE BRAKE IS DEFECTIVE AND THE AXEL ON THE FRONT CAR IS BROKEN. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. VEHICLE WEIGHT FOR THE 2013 NISAN VERSA MODEL YEAR WAS SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED VS PREVIOUS YEARS MODELS. VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO CROSS WINDS / GUSTS (GREATER THAN 5 MPH) AT DRIVING SPEEDS GREATER THAN 40 MPH UNDER GOOD ROAD AND WEATHER CONDITIONS. SUGGEST THAT NISSAN ISSUE A WRITTEN ADVISORY TO ITS CUSTOMERS, AND/OR REDESIGN THE VERSA MODEL SO IT'S MORE STABLE DURING WINDY CONDITIONS. *TR

MY BRAKE PEDAL WILL SINK TO THE FLOOR IF I PRESS HARD ON IT WITH MY FOOT AND KEEP PRESSING. I LOOKED AT MY BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR AND IT IS AT THE NORMAL 'FULL' MARK. MY NISSAN DEALER SAYS THAT THE PEDAL KEEPS MOVING BECAUSE THE ABS IS MODULATING MY BRAKE PEDAL AND THAT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY BRAKES. *TR

I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT IN THE LEFT TURN LANE AND WAS CHANGING RADIO STATIONS. I LOOKED UP AND NOTICED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WAS ALREADY GOING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, SO I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AND ACCELERATED QUICKLY. AS I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION (STOP LINE) I ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL, BUT COULD NOT, BECAUSE MY FOOT WAS STUCK. I USED MY RIGHT HAND TO GRAB MY LEG, AND PULLED HARDER, IMMEDIATELY BRAKING HARD, THEN BACKING MY FOOT OF THE BRAKE AS I SQUEALED AND SKIDDED AROUND THE CORNER, ALMOST GOING OVER THE CURB AND CRASHING. AFTER PARKING THE CAR IN A SAFE SPOT, I INSPECTED THE GAS PEDAL AREA TO DETERMINE WHAT HAPPENED. THE PLASTIC PIECE THAT COVERS THE CENTER CONSOLE EXTENDS AROUND TO JUST NEXT TO THE GAS PEDAL. IT ATTACHED WITH A PLASTIC PRESS FIT LOCK SEVERAL INCHES FROM THE EDGE, LEAVING THE EDGE UNSECURED. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE COIL SPRING WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. LATER, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE CAUSING THE LEFT BALL JOINT AND STRUT TO FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

SEAT BELTS DO NOT RETRACT AND SLIP WHEN PUT ON THE BODY.
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW NISSAN VERSA SV ON MAY 11, 2013. ON DECEMBER 1, 2013 I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I COULD FEEL MY STEERING WHEEL PULL TO THE LEFT. THEN THE ENTIRE CAR STARTED SHAKING VIGOROUSLY. MY BACK LEFT TIRE HAD BLOWN OUT. MY CAR ONLY HAD 6,200 MILES ON IT, MY TIRES ARE SUPPOSE TO BE GOOD FOR 60,000 MILES. I TOOK THE NEAREST EXIT AND PARKED IN AN APARTMENT COMPLEX. THANKFULLY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE CAME VERY QUICKLY. THE PERSON WHO ASSISTED ME WAS SHOCKED THAT I WASN'T IN AN ACCIDENT AND NO DAMAGE OCCURRED. WHEN HE TOOK THE TIRE OFF, WE LOOKED FOR DAMAGE TO THE TREAD, A NAIL OR SOMETHING THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE BLOWOUT. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE TREAD. THE TIRE LITERALLY CAME APART FROM THE SIDE (THE PART OF THE TIRE YOU SEE WHEN LOOKING AT THE CAR FROM THE SIDE). I BELIEVE I HAVE A DEFECTIVE TIRE(S) AND I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING WITH THESE TIRES. BECAUSE OF THIS, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE CONTINENTAL CONTIPROCONTACT ALL SEASON TIRES. *TR
MY 2013 NISSAN VERSA HAD NO BRAKES AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT THIS MORNING. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT WAS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. LUCKILY I WAS GOING SLOWLY AS I JUST PICKED UP A FRIEND FROM HAVING SURGERY AND WAS BACKING. A BRIGHT RED BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I RESTARTED IT AND STILL HAD NO BRAKES BUT THE BRIGHT RED LIGHT WAS GLOWING. I TRIED PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL WITHOUT ANY CHANGE. SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF AGAIN AND THE THIRD TIME THE RED LIGHT WENT OFF AS I PUMPED THE BRAKES AND I SEEMED TO HAVE PEDAL AGAIN. SO I CALLED & LEFT 2 MESSAGES WITH THE SERVICE DEPT OF MY DEALER WHICH WERE NOT ANSWERED. I DROVE HOME VERY CAREFULLY(APPROX. 20 MI.) WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM SINCE I STILL HAD THE PATIENT WITH ME I PICKED UP FROM THE HOSPITAL. I CALLED THE DEALER A THIRD TIME & WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPT. THAT IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE & THEY WOULD TOW IT. THIRTY MINUTES LATER THEY TOLD ME IF THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM THE TOWING BILL WOULD BE MINE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. I AM A 67 YEAR OLD SENIOR CITIZEN LIVING ON A FIXED INCOME & THEY WANT ME TO BRING IT TO THEM(APPROX. 35MI). *TR
I TOOK MY NEW 2013 NISSAN VERSA BACK FOR THE NEW BRAKES SHOES AS DIRECTED BY MY DEALER. I AM TOLD THEY REPLACED THE BACK BRAKE PADS AND HAD TO TURN THE ROTORS. I HAVE NEVER HAD A NEW CAR WITH THIS KIND OF ISSUE. THE MAN WHO TALKED TO ME TALKED ABOUT DUST AND RUST AS POSSIBLE REASONS OR EVEN SETTING A CAR UP & NOT USING IT...MY CAR IS ALWAYS PARKED INSIDE AND AN 8 MONTH OLD CAR WITH NINE THOUSANDS MILES PLUS HARDLY "SETS UP." I WANT TO CARRY MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THIS CAR & NOW FEAR THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE SQUEALING CRUNCHING SOUND THE CAR WAS MAKING IS GONE. *TR
I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH MY HEAT SHIELD SCREWS COMING UNDONE ABOUT EVERY 6 MONTHS. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS COMMON ON A NISSAN VERSA. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM WITH A SUITABLE REMEDY, SO THE SCREWS OR CLAMPS ON THE HEAT SHIELD DOESN'T CONTINUE TO LOOSEN UP. THE RATTLING NOISE IS VERY ANNOYING AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE DISTRACTION IT CAUSES. THE ONLY WAY TO CURRENTLY TIGHTENING THE SCREWS OR REPLACE THEM IS TO BRING IT TO A GARAGE AND HAVE THE VEHICLE PUT ON A LIFT, WHICH IS AN EXPENSE, SINCE THIS PROBLEM WILL CONTINUE WELL AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. THE DEALERSHIP SO CALLED FIXED MY LOOSENED OR REPLACED MY LOST CLAMPS SEVERAL TIMES AND I AM STILL EITHER TIGHTENING THE CLAMPS OR REPLACING THEM TWO YEARS AFTER MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I DON'T SEE THIS PROBLEM STOPPING. I BOUGHT TWO VERSAS ON THE SAME DAY, SO I NOW HAVE DOUBLE TROUBLE AND DOUBLE THE BILLS TO CONTINUALLY FIX THIS PROBLEM, WHICH IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX AT BEST. IT'S BASICALLY A CHEAP THIN FOIL THAT IS THE HEAT SHIELD, WITH THE HOLE FOR THE CLAMPS WIDENING FROM THE VIBRATION OF THE VEHICLE, OR THE CLAMPS JUST LOOSEN FROM THE VIBRATION. THERE ARE SEVERAL CAUSES FOR THE HEAT SHIELD COMING UNDONE. I WOULD SAY INSTALLING A MORE RIGID MATERIAL FOR THE HEAT SHIELD AND BETTER QUALITY FASTENERS WITH LOCK WASHES WOULD CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.
THE HIGH SPEED BLOWER FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING AND HEAT IS EXTRELEY LOUD SO THAT A DRIVER CANNOT PROPERLY HEAR OTHER TRAFFIC. THE SOUND IS DEAFENING. I HAVE NEVE RHAD A CAR WITH SUCH A CHEAP LOUD BLOWER TO BLOW HEAT OR COLD AIR. THIS IA S DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE YOU NEED TO HEAR CARS AS WELL AS SEE THEM. VERSA WENT REALLY REALLY CHEAP WITH THE AIR BLOWER SYSTEM WHICH HAS BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD.

AT ABOUT 7:10AM ON JULY 18, 2013, I STARTED THE CAR AND A BAD NOISE CAME FROM ENGINE. I POOPED THE HOOD AND LOOKED BUT FOUND NOTHING VISUALLY. THIS IS NOTICEABLE WHERE GLASS AND COWLING ADJOIN. NEW WINDSHIELD WAS ORDER FROM NISSAN AND INSTALLED. SAME ISSUE WITH REPLACEMENT GLASS. MY WIFE IS 4'9" AND FINDS THIS TO BE DISTRACTING. 3. TODAY IS 2/19 AND THEY ARE STILL HAVING DIFFICULTY GETTING THE PART THAT IS LOCATED UNDER THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THE NUMBER OF FAILURES OF THIS PART MIGHT RESULT IN A RECALL. MY COMPANY HAS 15 OF THESE NEW VEHICLES THAT WE USE FOR OUR NURSES IN THE FIELD. MY VEHICLE IS THE ONLY ONE SO FAR TO HAVE AN ISSUE. ALL SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR. *TR

I HAVE NOTICED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN STOPPED OR COMING TO A STOP, BRAKE WILL FEEL LIKE IT BECOMES DISENGAGED OR FEELING OF CAR SURGING FORWARD A LITTLE, WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON. I HAVE TO MAKE SURE MY FOOT IS HEAVILY ON THE BRAKE, SO THAT IT WILL NOT FEEL LIKE IT WILL MOVE FORWARD. A COUPLE OF TIMES, I HAVE THOUGHT THE CAR IN BACK OF ME HAD BUMPED ME. ALSO, THE BRAKE PEDAL FEELS A LITTLE LOOSE. ALSO, WHEN THERE IS DEW PRESENT ON THE WINDOW IN THE MORNING IF I HAVE PARKED OUTSIDE AT NIGHT, THE BUILT-IN WINDOW BRUSHES/EDGERS WILL NOT CLEAR THE WINDOWS. THIS CREATES A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IF THIS HAPPENED WHILE YOU WERE DRIVING AND THE WINDOWS BECAME FOGGY ON THE OUTSIDE. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THOSE LITTLE BRUSHES, WERE JUST MEANT TO KEEP DEBRIS OUT OF THE DOOR PANEL AREA. *TR
