TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 NISSAN XTERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR MAINTENANCE ON THE BRAKING SYSTEM. WHILE DRIVING AWAY FROM THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING CONTAMINANT IN THE BRAKE FLUID. THE CONTAMINANT CAUSED THE BRAKE FAILURE WHICH IN TURN PRODUCED THE BRAKE AND DVC WARNING SIGNALS TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AND SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE USING THE BRAKE, AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WAS STRUGGLING FOR WAYS TO STOP THE VEHICLE. SHE TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BY USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, BUT TO NO AVAIL SHE WAS FORCED TO TRY AND MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE IN THE LANE OF OTHER VEHICLE. THE THEN PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND IT FINALLY STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. *JB
AND NOISE WAS HEARD LIKE TWO METAL PIECE HITTING AGAINST EACH OTHER THE DRIVER STOPPED DID AN INSPECTION DIDN'T SEE ANY VISUAL SIGNS GOT BACK INTO THE VEHICLE, TRAVELED ABOUT 8 TO 10 MILES. THEN WHILE GOING OVER A HILL THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR, UNABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK IT PICKED UP SPEED SLAMMING IT TO THE BACK OF A VAN CAUSING THE TRUCK TO ROLLOVER. I DRIVER SUSTAINED AND SHATTER KNEEL CAP AND BROKEN RIBS. *TR
FAILURE OF 4 WHEEL DRIVE POWER TRAIN DUE TO FAILURE OF ABS SENSOR. THIS A DEDICATED OFF ROAD VEHICLE WITH OFF ROAD PACKAGE INSTALLED BY FACTORY. THE ABS SYSTEM SHOULD NOT TRUMP THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND CAUSE IT TO NOT ENGAGE. IF I WAS FAR OFF ROAD AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM FAILED, I COULD BE SUBJECT TO SERIOUS INJURY OR POSSIBLY DEATH DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS AS I WOULD HAVE TO WALK AND GET HELP IN PREVAILING WEATHER CONDITIONS. *TR
