THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND CRUISE CONTROL STOOPED WORKING AT 60,000 MILES. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED WHEN I DO NOT HAVE THE BRAKE PAD PRESSED AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY RECENTLY PURCHASED 2006 PONTIAC G6 (29,000 MILES) WHEN I MAKE TURNS THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WILL SHUT OFF AND THE RADIO WILL FLASH A POWER STEERING WARNING THEN I WILL HEAR A DING SOUND AND LOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL G6 MODELS FROM WHAT I HAVE READ. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD RESULT IN A FATALITY IF IT HASN'T ALREADY. IT'S SAD THAT SOMEONE MAY HAVE TO BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN DIE BEFORE GM TAKES THIS SERIOUS. THIS IS NOT JUST A PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 MODELS, JUST ABOUT ALL G6 VEHICLES FROM 2005 - 2008 HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT FLASHED AND THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED, MAKING THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING UNIT MALFUNCTIONED WITHOUT WARNING. THE STEERING BECAME STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO HANDLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY G-6 PONTIAC TO WORK, I TRIED TO TURN THE CORNER, & I HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST, & WENT INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL HARD ENOUGH. I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM PONTIAC WHICH STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST IS COVERED UNDER A SPECIAL COVERAGE PROGRAM. MY CAR DID NOT QUALIFY BECAUSE IT HAD TO MANY MILES. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD & SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL INSTEAD. YOU HAVE ISSUED A RECALL ON THE 2007-2009 MAZDA3 AND MAZDA5 POWER STEERING VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL . HAVE YOU NOT GOTTEN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ON THE G6 PONTIAC, OR DOES IT TAKE A LOT OF ACCIDENTS OR LOSS OF LIFE FOR A DIFFERENT VEHICLE TO GET THE SAME RECALL. I HAD TO SPEND $708.00 TO GET MY VEHICLE FIXED. I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PUT OUT THAT KIND OF MONEY. I DIDN'T GET ANY SATISFACTION FROM GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION, BUT I DO HOPE YOU CONSIDER ALSO MAKING THE G-6 PROBLEM A TOTAL RECALL. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 G6, NOTICED THE POPPING SOUND IN THE STEERING AT 40K MILES AND HAD IT REPLACED. NOW AT 75K MILES, THERE IS A GRINDING SOUND IN THE STEERING AND IT SHAKES BAD WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR EVEN SLOWING DOWN. I DRIVE INTERSTATE AND HAVE A 3 MONTH OLD BABY WITH ME AND AM EXTREMELY UPSET BY WHAT I AM READING. GM NEEDS TO DO A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES ASAP BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT COVERED THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. I WILL BE BRINGING IT TO A DEALER THIS WEEK TO HAVE THE REST OF IT LOOKED AT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE FUEL PUMP LEAKED OVER THE ENGINE AND ON THE GROUND WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A FUEL PUMP RECALL (NOT IN NHTSA DATABASE). THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THE RECALL ONLY AFFECTED G5 MODELS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,700.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING BETWEEN 2 AND 5 MPH THE POWER STEERING FAILED. SHE STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THAT IT BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS CONSTANT AND WAS ON GOING FOR THE LAST THREE TO FOUR MONTHS. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 57,000.
PURCHASED A 2006 PONTIAC G6 GTP, I HAVE RECENTLY CAUSED MANY CLOSE CALLS OF HARMING PEOPLES LIFE DUE TO THE FAILURE OF SHIFTING OF MY TRANSMISSION IN A FAIRLY NEW VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND DOES NOT GO INTO GEAR SOMETIMES AND WHEN ENTERING THE HIGHWAY EVERYDAY IS A CHALLENGE IF I WILL MAKE IT OR NOT. THE VEHICLE DECIDES IF IT WILL GO OR NOT AND I DON'T BELIEVE THIS 2006 VEHICLE SHOULD BE ON THE ROAD OR OTHERS TO BE SOLD UNTIL THIS ONGOING PROBLEM ACROSS THE NATION TO BE SOLVED. THE MARCH 2010 GM RECALL OF CERTAIN PONTIAC MODELS WITH ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING DID NOT INCLUDE THE 2006 G6 MODEL. I OWN A 2006 G6 WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND AM CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY ISSUE. IF THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM ON ALL 2006 G6 MODELS, THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *TR
I BOUGHT MY G6 GTP WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT IN 2006. SINCE THEN I'VE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. FIRST THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PAINT ON THE CAR, IT LOOKED LIKE WATER SPOTS. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER 2WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT IT. AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE SPOTS OFF BUT THEY HAVE SLOWLY CAME BACK. SECOND MY SPEAKERS BLEW AFTER 1 MONTH OF HAVING MY CAR. THEY WERE REPLACED. THIRD, MY TWO FRONT LIGHTS MUST OF HAD TINY HOLES BECAUSE THEY WOULD GET REALLY FOGGY AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO THE CARWASH. THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED ALSO. FOURTH TIME I RECEIVED A LETTER FOR A RECALL DUE TO A BAD MOUNTING OF THE SUNROOF HOSE. IT STAINED MY HEADLINER AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR BACK LIKE 3 TIMES BECAUSE AFTER REPLACING THE HEADLINER THEY APPARENTLY DIDN'T PUT THINGS BACK HOW THEY SHOULD THEREFORE ON RAINY DAYS THE WATER WOULD COME INSIDE MY CAR THROUGH VARIOUS PLACES. FINALLY THEY GOT IT RIGHT AND IT WAS RAIN FREE INSIDE MY VEHICLE. FIFTH, MY TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT ON ME TWICE. SIX, WHEN I TURN MY WHEEL IT MAKES THIS HORRIBLE POPPING NOISE, VERY IRRITATING. SEVENTH, MY ABOUT A MONTH NOW MY CAR HAD BEEN SMELLING ALOT LIKE GAS, NOT TO MENTION I HAVE A 2YR OLD AND A 7MONTH OLD THAT ARE ALWAYS IN THE CAR. I REGRET BUYING THIS VEHICLE AND I'M VERY CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY AND MYSELF! THERE SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL ON THIS GAS PROBLEM. MY POWER STEERING GOES IN AND OUT. WHEN I START THE VEHICLE, IT USUALLY IS WORKING. AS SOON AS I MAKE A RIGHT TURN THE STEERING TURNS VIOLENTLY AND THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. IF THIS HAPPENS AT SPEEDS OVER 5 MPH, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. LUCKILY, I HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT YET, BUT AM FEELING THE LONGER I ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN, MY LUCK WILL RUN OUT. *TR
1) STATIONARY - KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE DOES NOT OPEN EITHER DOOR AFTER SEVERAL TIMES PRESSING THE REMOTE BUTTON. THE DOOR DOES NOT HAVE A KEY HOLE TO MANUALLY OPEN EITHER DOOR OR THE TRUNK. 2) STATONARY OR IN MOTION - LOW BEAM LIGHTS ARE INOPERABLE BECAUSE BOTH WIRING CONNECTORS FOR LOW BEAM LIGHTS HAVE MELTED AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE.
ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST LOSS ON 2006 PONTIAC G6. I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL LETTER FOR MY G6 ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST LOSS. IT SAYS IT WILL COVER THE DEFECT FOR 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 130,000 ON IT SO THEY SAY IT IS NOT COVERED. I GET THE CHIME AND POWER STEERING DISPLAY ON MY CONSOLE INTERMITTENTLY. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 95,000 MILES BUT IS TOO EXPENSIVE TO GET FIXED. THEY SENT ME THE FIRST NOTICE WHEN MY CAR HAD 96000 MILES ON IT SAYING THEY WOULD COVER IT TO 70,000 MILES. BOTH TIMES I WAS TOLD BY PONTIAC THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT SINCE IT WAS OUTSIDE THE MILEAGE LIMIT. IF THEY WOULD HAVE MADE IT 100,000 MILES THE FIRST TIME, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED. THEY KNOW ITS A PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY KEEP BOOSTING THE MILEAGE UP, BUT ALWAYS LOWER THAN THE MILES I HAVE ON MY CAR. MY STEERING IS GOING TO QUIT WORKING ONE OF THESE DAYS, AND THEY KNOW WHY, BUT THEY WONT FIX IT. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 PONTIAC G6 3 MONTHS AGO....A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 3 CHILDREN THE POWER STEERING WENT, I TURNED THE CAR FOR A FEW MINUTES, I TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT WORKED AGAIN. I GAVE GM MY VIN # AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS CAR, BUT WHY WOULD THIS CAR DO THIS, IT ONLY HAS 108 KM ON IT AND IF OTHER PONTIAC G6 WERE BE RECALLED WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PROBLEM WHY WOULD MY CAR NOT QUALIFY. JUST A NOTE, THAT THIS WAS A SCARY SITUATION AND COULD OF BEEN A LOT WORSE IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 PONTIAC G6.. I READ THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FROM APRIL 25TH 2007-SEPTEMBER 25TH 2007 IN WHICH IT WAS CLOSED. MY CAR IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE RECALL IN 2007 AM I ABLE TO STILL GET MY CAR FIXED WITHOUT COST TO ME...STEERING ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM. *TR
I HAVE HAD A THUMPING IN THE CAR WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AND WAS TOLD THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THERE COULD BE OTHER DEFECTIVE PARTS ONCE THEY GET INTO IT. AT PRESENT I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND AM SAVING UP TO GET THE $800 REPAIR STARTED. I FEEL THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE THAT GM NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO RECALL THE G6'S FOR THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE A FAULTY STEERING SYSTEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE FIRST YEAR WAS A SENSOR IN THE TRANSMISSION, THE SECOND WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AND NOW THIS YEAR THE THERMOSTAT AND SENSOR AND THIS STEERING PROBLEM. DRIVING ONE DAY AND HEAR THUMPING, ENDS UP THAT 2 LUG NUTS ARE MISSING ON THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE, BUY 2 LUG NUTS AND PUT THEM ON PROBLEM FIXED RIGHT? WRONG!!!!!! I'LL TELL YOU WHY, BECAUSE THE CAR IS ALWAYS SHAKING, HIT A BUMP AND THE WHOLE CAR FEELS LIKE ITS GOING TO BRAKE. INSTEAD OF "FEELING SO FLY IN MY G-6" THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE A SONG CALLED "BRAKING DOWN IN MY G-6" I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THAT SONG CAUSE ITS TRUE!!!!!!!!! WITH THE RECALL ON THE STEERING, I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON WITH THE SHAKING OF THE CAR AS WELL AND I DON'T THINK ITS THE STEERING BUT MORE LIKE THE SUSPENSION MAYBE... *TR
PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY THEN LOST POWER STEERING, ALMOST CRASHED TWICE. VEHICLES SUDDENLY HARD TO CONTROL AND UNABLE TO MOVE. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN SHE WAS INFORMED THAT HER BRAKE LIGHTS WERE SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATING WHEN DRIVING BUT WHEN BRAKING, THE LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE SOMETIMES WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR FROM PARK UNLESS THE BRAKES WERE FIRMLY AND STEADILY APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V036000- EXTERIOR LIGHTING: BRAKE LIGHTS) BUT WAS ADVISED THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,380 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,416.
THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTOR ON MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 HAD TO BE WORKED ON WHEN IT ONLY 30,000 MILES ON IT. I HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR PADS AND HAD TO HAVE THE ROTORS TURNED DOWN. THE WAY THE ROTOR WAS GROOVED IN 2 SPOTS AND MORE THAN 3/4 OF THE REST OF THE SURFACE WAS RUSTY. IT WAS A CERTIFIED USED CAR WHEN WE BOUGHT IT WITH ONLY 19,000 MILES ON IT. I EVEN TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL WEAR. VERY HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE THAT AFTER SEEING THE ROTORS WHEN I TOOK THEM OFF. *TR
PULLING OUT OF MY ROAD AND POWER STEERING JUST GIVES OUT.. I CAN BARELY TURN THE WHEEL TO AVOID CRASHING INTO THE DITCH ACROSS THE STREET. IM 8 MONTHS PREGNANT AND THERE WERE CARS COMING AT ME AT 55 MPH. I MANAGE TO TURN AROUND AND GO HOME, MY BOYFRIEND CHECKS IT OUT AND THE MANUAL SAYS POWER STEERING FLUID. NO POWER STEERING FLUID IN THIS CAR, ITS ALL ELECTRICAL. HE TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT WAS FINE. NOW MY CAR IS AT THE DEALER AND I'M PAYING 80 DOLLARS AN HOUR TO "DIAGNOSE" THIS WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. I COULD HAVE DIED IF I WERE DRIVING, I'M NOT THE HULK, I CANNOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE IF THE POWER STEERING JUST DECIDES TO GIVE OUT ON ME. WHAT IF I WERE ON A BACK ROAD WITH LOTS OF TURNS? I WOULD HAVE CRASHED RIGHT INTO A TREE. THANK GOD I WAS JUST PULLING OUT WHEN IT ACTED UP, THANK GOD THE CARS WERE FAR ENOUGH AWAY TO SLOW DOWN FOR ME. *TR
MY POWER STEERING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND THERE IS A CLUNKING IN MY STEERING WHENEVER I TURN, AND WHEN I HIT A BUMP MY CAR SWAYS A BIT. AS WELL AS ONCE IN A WHILE I LOSE MY POWER STEERING WHICH I ALMOST CRASHED BUT MAINTAINED MY COMPOSURE. *TR

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FOLLOWING RECALL: NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V036000, EXTERIOR LIGHTING BRAKE LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS THAT WERE IN THE RECALL. THERE HAVE BEEN NO DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND NO REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64074.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURERS RECALL PERTAINING TO THE POWER STEERING ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT REPLACE THE POWER ASSIST MODULE IF THE VEHICLE WAS OVER 100,000 MILES AND THE CONTACT WAS OVER THE MILEAGE LIMIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED FOUR TIMES WITHIN TWO WEEKS AND HE WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE POWER STEERING WOULD RESET ITSELF WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF FOR FIFTEEN MINUTES OR MORE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS AROUND 123,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING FROM LANE TO LANE AND MADE A POPPING SOUNDS REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED HE WAS DRIVING. HE ALSO STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD ALSO SHAKE.
