TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 63395.
1. NO SPECIFIC EVENT LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE, JUST STARTED OUT OF THE BLUE. 2. BRAKE LIGHTS CONSTANTLY LIT WHEN FOOT IS OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL, CRUISE CONTROL WORKS ON AND OFF, GEAR SHIFT STUCK IN PARK, BRAKE LIGHTS WILL SOMETIMES GO OFF WHEN YOU HIT THE BRAKES 3. RECALL FOR THE 2005 MODEL SUGGESTED APPLYING DIELECTRIC GREASE TO THE CONNECTOR. WE DID THAT AND IT DID NOT WORK. WE REPLACED THE STOP LAMP SWITCH UNDER DASH AND RECALIBRATED THE BCM AT A DEALERSHIP. STILL MALFUNCTIONING. *TR
PLEASE REFERENCE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V036000. ON 2/17/09, GM RECALLED 8,012 2005-2006 PONTIAC G6 VEHICLES, BECAUSE THE BRAKE LAMPS WOULD NOT OPERATE PROPERLY DUE TO 0 CORROSION IN A WIRING CONNECTOR. SYMPTOMS INCLUDE BRAKE LAMPS ILLUMINATING WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT DEPRESSED, BRAKE LAMPS FAILING TO ILLUMINATE WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ENGAGE AND GREATER THAN NORMAL BRAKE FORCE IS REQUIRED TO SHIFT VEHICLE OUT OF PARK. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL, VIN [XXX] . HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT PROBLEMS AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. I CONTACTED GM'S OWNER CENTER TO TRY AND GET MY VEHICLE COVERED. THE GM REPRESENTATIVE (TED) ADVISED ME THAT I MUST FIRST HAVE THE PONTIAC (GM) DEALER PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AT MY EXPENSE, AND THAT, DEPENDING ON THE OUTCOME OF THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST, GM MAY OR MAY NOT COVER MY VEHICLE. SINCE THIS IS A DOCUMENTED SAFETY ISSUE, I FIND GM'S RESPONSE TO BE COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I AM THEREFORE REQUESTING THAT NHTSA REQUIRE GM TO COVER THE COST OF NEEDED REPAIRS FOR ANY GM VEHICLE THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM. AS NOTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE, "BRAKE LAMPS THAT ARE NOT OPERATING PROPERLY MAY NOT WARN A DRIVER IN A FOLLOWING VEHICLE OF THE BRAKING STATUS AND COULD LEAD TO A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING". POWER STEERING PROBLEMS WITH 2006 PONTAC G6. IT DIFFICULT FOR A MECHANIC TO DETECT BECAUSE ONCE THE CAR IS TURNED OFF THE STEERING RESET. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AN MY STEERING LOCKED. I COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I FREAKED OUT. *TR
STEERING WHEEL STARTS JERKING WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING WHILE DRIVING SO BAD THAT I THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT YET AND I HOPE THAT I DON'T, BUT I DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS TO TAKE THE CAR TO A MECHANIC. THIS ALL HAPPENED ON THE FIRST DAY OF MY POWER STEERING PROBLEMS, IT ALSO READ POWER STEERING ACROSS MY RADIO THAT'S HOW I KNOW ITS MY POWER STEERING. AND AS I LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM I SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AT A LOW SPEED, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE TO ALLOW IT TO RESET ITSELF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST THREE TIMES. THE CONTACT WILL SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
THE FIRST PROBLEM I HAD WAS IN JULY 2009 AT WHICH TIME MY CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT WORK ALL THE TIME AND SOMETIMES WHEN IT WAS ON, IT WOULD DIS-ENGAGE ITSELF. I TOOK THIS IN FOR SERVICE AND THEY APPLIED DIELECTRIC CREASE TO A CONNECTOR. THE CRUISE THEN WORKED WELL AGAIN FOR SOME TIME. INTERMITTENTLY I WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IT, BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. THEN IN MAY 2011, MY CAR WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK. I EVENTUALLY WAS ABLE TO GET IT OUT OF PARK, BUT THIS RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE NEXT WEEK OR SO. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES BUT THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. EVENTUALLY, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT WHEN I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE, THE EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT GO ON BUT WHEN THE CAR WAS RUNNING WITH NO ONE IN IT, THE EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTS WENT ON. I TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE SWITCH. THIS CORRECTED THE PROBLEM WITH SHIFTING OUT OF PARK. MY CRUISE CONTROL THEN WORKED AGAIN FOR AWHILE. THEN IN JUNE 2012, MY CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING AGAIN AND I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK IN AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE SWITCH AGAIN. OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS, MY CRUISE CONTROL HAS NOT BEEN WORKING (USUALLY IT WILL NOT ENGAGE AND WHEN IT DOES, WILL DIS-ENGAGE ITSELF AFTER A FEW SECONDS). I ALSO RECENTLY DISCOVERED (WHEN A FRIEND WAS FOLLOWING ME) THAT WHILE DRIVING AND NOT PRESSING ON MY BRAKES, MY EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD BE ON. HOWEVER, WHEN I ACTUALLY PRESS ON MY BRAKES TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN, THE EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STEER THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE POWER STEERING AND HOW IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE FOR HIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED FOR THIS ISSUE. HE FEELS THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE BECAUSE IT IS DIFFICULT TO STEER AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,936 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,934.
THE POWER STEERING IN MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 GOES OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS ALL THE TIME, ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS AND IS NOW HAPPENING EVEN IF I AM DRIVING STRAIGHT. THERE IS ALSO A POPPING NOISE WITH THE STEERING COLUMN THAT HAPPENS WHEN I AM MAKING A LEFT TURN. *TR
MY CAR STARTED SHAKING REALLY BAD. IT WAS WHEN I JUST HIT ABOUT 55 MPH. I'VE ALSO HAD THE WORDS "POWER STEERING" SHOWING UP ON MY DIU WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, AND YES, I HAD NO "POWER STEERING" WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, AFTER SHUTTING CAR OF AND RESTARTING IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL! I THEN STARTED DOING MY RESEARCH TO FIND OUT A LOT OF 2006 G6 HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I'M SURE I HAVE TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN, WHICH WILL COST A LOT OF MONEY. WHICH I DON'T HAVE!!! *TR
LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST DUE TO FAILURE OF THE TORQUE SENSOR ON 2006 G6. THIS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT THE 2005 PONTIAN G6 HAD A RECALL ON. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN A MONTH. *TR
THE POWER STEERING FAILED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE SUMMER OF 2009. WHENEVER THE WEATHER IS WARMER THAN 65 DEGREES, THE POWER STEERING FAILS REPEATEDLY. EVERY TIME WE'VE TRIED BRINGING THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR AT OUR NEAREST PONTIAC DEALERSHIP IN UNION, NJ WE WERE TOLD THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE AND EVERY REPAIR WOULD JUST RESULT IN A RETURN FOR THE SAME ISSUE EVERY 6 MONTHS. *JS

A TECHNICIAN FROM THE DEALER STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL # 09V036000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS) THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000. FRONT SUSPENSION ISSUES. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE BOTH FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS, BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS, AND THE PASSENGER SIDE STRUT. WITH THESE PARTS FAILING, THEY ALSO RUIN THE TIRES. THIS CAUSES FOR ME TO HAVE TO REPLACE BRAND NEW TIRES AS WELL. INTERIOR LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON WHEN DOORS ARE OPENED. PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT FULLY RELEASE CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR ON THE INSIDE BRAKE PAD OF THE REAR BRAKES. *TT
MY WIFE AND I OWN A PONTIAC G6 AND SHORTLY AFTER THE FIRST TIME WE CHANGED THE BRAKE PADS ON THE FRONT WHEELS, THE ROTORS WARPED. SINCE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FIRST SET OF ROTORS WE HAVE BEEN THROUGH 4 SETS OF ROTORS. IT SEEMS THAT THE ROTORS WARP WITHIN 10 TO 20 THOUSAND MILES OF INSTALLING NEW PADS AND ROTORS. DRIVING STYLE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE THE ISSUE AS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS OWNERS OF THIS MODEL CAR. BRAKE SHOPS EVEN SAY THAT IT IS PROBABLY THE WORST CAR MADE OF BRAKES. NOTHING WE CAN DO SEEMS TO FIX IT, ASIDE FROM NOT DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE THE PULL FROM BRAKING IS SO BAD. THIS IS A GOOD CAR WITH A HORRIBLY ENGINEERED BRAKING SYSTEM. *TR
ABOUT A MONTH AGO I NOTICED INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING FAILURE. IT USUALLY OCCURRED WHEN I WAS SLOWLY BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY OR A PARKING SPACE. WHEN THIS WOULD OCCUR IT WAS OBVIOUSLY VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL, I WOULD THEN PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART IT. THIS SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR A WHILE. WITHIN THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS THE POWER STEERING IS GOING OUT DAILY UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES AND NOW GOES OUT OCCASIONALLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING FORWARD. IT SEEMS TO ONLY HAPPEN AT RELATIVELY SLOW SPEEDS SUCH AS MAKING A TURN, HOWEVER I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL ALSO HAPPEN AT HIGHER SPEEDS. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE ON EARLIER YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE AND I HOPE THIS PROBLEM WILL BE RESOLVED. A MECHANIC TOLD ME I SHOULD REPORT THIS TO YOU AS HE HAS SEEN IT MANY TIMES WITH MY TYPE OF VEHICLE. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE AROUND $750. *TR
I OWN A 2006 PONTIAC G6 AND THE POWER STEERING IS SPORADIC ON IT. IT STARTED OUT THAT IS WOULDN'T WORK FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AFTER THE CAR STARTED. THEN THE TIME GOT INCREASINGLY LONGER. KNOW I CAN DRIVE ALL THE WAS HOME (26 MILES) FROM WORK AND IT WONT CLICK ON. WHEN IT DOES COME ON IT GIVE 3 DINGS ON THE WARNING SYSTEM THEN YOU HEAR A CLICK AND THEN THE POWER STEERING COMES RIGHT BACK ON. IT HAS COME ON WHILE MAKING A TURN BEFORE AND BECAUSE I HAVE HAD TO USE A LOT OF FORCE TO TURN I END UP OVER TURNING AND SOMETIME GOING INTO THE OTHER LANE CAUSING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I DON'T FEEL THAT A CAR WITH ONLY 60,000 MILES SHOULD BE HAVING A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH IT. FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS AND COSTLY REPAIR THAT IN NOT BEING RECALL BY THE MAKER. ALSO WHEN THE POWER STEERING DOESN'T WORK AND YOU ARE BRAKING IT SHAKES THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATING ALTHOUGH THE BRAKES WERE NOT DEPRESSED OR ENGAGED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SWITCH GEARS UNLESS SHE WOULD APPLY EXTREME FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V036000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING: BRAKE LIGHTS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
SERVICE AIR BAG MESSAGE APPEARS FREQUENTLY AND PASSENGER AIRBAG IS DISABLED, EVEN IF A PERSON IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS IN VEHICLES WITH AFTERMARKET LEATHER SEATS, BUT SINCE MY VEHICLE HAS FACTORY LEATHER SEATS, I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM MAY EXTEND TO VEHICLES WITH FACTORY LEATHER SEATS AS WELL. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR YEARS, BUT I ONLY RECENTLY REALIZED THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS DISABLED WHEN THE MESSAGE APPEARS AND AM NOW CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF ANYONE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. *JS
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER STEERING ABILITY. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HEARD A POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHENEVER SHE TURNED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 19,055.
FAILURE OF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AT 31,222 MILES ON A 06 PONTIAC G6 PURCHASED NEW IN DECEMBER 2005. I FIRST NOTICED SHIFTING PROBLEMS AT THE END OF JUNE 2009. THE CAR WAS STRUGGLING TO GET INTO GEAR AS THOUGH IT WAS GOING UP A HILL; THIS WAS NOTICEABLE DURING FREEWAY DRIVING. IT WOULD ALSO MAKE A THUMP NOISE WHEN IT WOULD ACCELERATE FROM 0 DURING STOP-AND-GO FREEWAY TRAFFIC AFTER PROLONGED DRIVING. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON EVENTUALLY. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT ON 7/7/09. THE MECHANIC TRIED REPLACING TWO OF THE COMPUTER SENSORS PRIOR TO THAT, BUT IT DID NOT IMPROVE THE CAR'S SHIFTING. THE CAR'S WARRANTY WAS 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST. BECAUSE 3 YEARS HAD PASSED, THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STILL BELOW 36,000 MILES. I FIND THAT IT IS EXTREMELY UNFAIR TO HAVE TO PAY $1,800 FOR A TRANSMISSION ON SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND ESPECIALLY AFTER REGULAR MAINTENANCE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL STEERING MADE A CLICKING AND POPPING NOISE NEAR THE STEERING WHEEL. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THE G6 MODELS. SHE VISITED THE DEALER AT LEAST THREE TIMES BECAUSE THE NOISE WORSENED OVER TIME. RECENTLY, THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE TO RESET THE STEERING. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD JERK BACK AND FORTH. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,528 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE BRAKE LAMPS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED. THE LAMPS WOULD ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT BEING DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND WHEN SHIFTING OUT OF PARK, EXTREME FORCE HAD TO BE APPLIED TO THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND A WIRING HARNESS FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS REPLACED. THE BULBS WERE ALSO REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V036000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING) BUT DID NOT CONFIRM IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
STATED VEHICLE WAS IN FOR REPAIR AT ON THE ABOVE DATE. REPAIRS COMPLETED ON THIS DATE MATCH THE SCOPE OF WORK THAT SHOULD BE COMPLETED UNDER CAMPAIGN # 14V153000. POWER STEERING FAILURE. DIFFICULT TO TURN WHEEL... COMES AND GOES... I THOUGHT I NEEDED POWER STEERING FLUID, BUT APPARENTLY IT IS ELECTRIC?? TOOK TO GOODYEAR AND THEY SAID TAKE IT TO THE DEALER... THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO MY 2006 PONTIAC G6 SEDAN. OVER THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF, I HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING ON THIS VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED IN EARLY 2008 (~FEBRUARY) WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PARK MY CAR. WHEN TURNING INTO THE PARKING PLACE, POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, RESTARTED IT, AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED. ON MY WAY HOME FROM THAT ERRAND, THE POWER STEERING AGAIN WENT OUT. I AGAIN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND EVERYTHING WORKED FINE. SINCE THAT TIME, I HAVE HAD SIMILAR INCIDENTS HAPPEN 10-12 TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED EACH TIME WHEN THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. IN EACH INSTANCE I WAS IN A PARKING LOT OR TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED, MAKING MY SOLUTION PLAUSIBLE. OVER THE PAST WEEK, HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS WORSENED CONSIDERABLY. WHENEVER TURNING HARD IN EITHER DIRECTION (PARTICULARLY WHEN GOING DOWNHILL) I LOSE POWER STEERING. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE FIGHT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD. ADDITIONALLY, THIS IS ACCOMPANIED BY A VERY LOUD WHIRRING/WHINING/CLUNKING SOUND THAT CONTINUES UNTIL THE CAR COMES TO A STOP. I WILL BE VISITING A DEALER TOMORROW FOR REPAIRS, BUT HAVE NOTICED HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH 2006 PONTIAC G6 VEHICLES (SEARCH GOOGLE!). 2006 G6 AIR COMPRESSOR FREEZES UP AND CAUSES THE BELT TO BREAK COMPLETELY DISABLING THE VEHICLE WITHIN SECONDS. NO POWER STEERING, BATTERY STOPS CHARGING, CAR RUNS HOT, AND LOSES TRACTION. ONE BELT RUNS EVERYTHING IN THIS VEHICLE AND WHEN IT BREAKS EVERYTHING IN THE ENGINE BEGINS TO FAIL. IT COST OVER $1,000 TO REPAIR. I AM REGISTERING A COMPLAINT REGARDING THE POWER STEERING FAILURE OF MY 2006 PONTIAC G6. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPAIRED TWO TIMES; HOWEVER, NEITHER PONTIAC NOR THE DEALERSHIP WILL COMPLETE THIS THIRD REPAIR SINCE THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. THE STEERING COLUMN CONTINUES TO POP WITH EVERY TURN, AND NOW THE STEERING FREEZES WHEN TORQUE IS APPLIED TO TURN CORNERS WHETHER BACKING UP OR DRIVING FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE STEERING CRIMP AT THE TORQUE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE COST FOR REPAIR WAS ESTIMATED AT $1,450. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,200 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,300.
