TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED. THE EPS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO COAST OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND THE STEERING RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER :14V153000(STEERING) .THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. RESTARTED THE CAR SEEMED TO RESOLVE IT FOR A DAY OR TWO. NOW IT HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN CONTACTED DEALER ABOUT A RECALL, I WAS TOLD MINE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL AND THEY COULD FIX IT FOR $800. WHEN IT OR IF IT BECOMES A RECALL I COULD BE REIMBURSED. AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DEAL WITH IT. IT'S MY ONLY CAR AND DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR REPAIR. *JS
FUEL PUMP RETURN LINE TO TANK LEAKING! THIS LEAK IS JUST ABOVE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WHICH IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLASTIC FUEL PUMP FRACTURED, WHICH CAUSED A FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FRACTURED DUE TO HEAT AND VIBRATIONS OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000. UPDATED 2/24/15*CN THE CONSUMER STATED FUEL WAS LEAKING ONTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. UPDATED 03/02/15*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO STEER. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING ERROR DISPLAYED AND A LOUD CHIME SOUNDED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF LOSS OF POWER STEERING. IN ALL CASES VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OUT OF THE TRAFFIC LANES, PARKED AND ENGINE SHUT OFF. POWER STEERING WAS EVENTUALLY RESTORED ON RESTART. THERE WAS NO OBVIOUS PATTERN TO THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTHORIZED GM SERVICE CENTER FOR REPAIR. DIAGNOSTICS TROUBLE CODE C0545 STEERING WHEEL TORQUE INPUT RESULTED IN REPLACEMENT OF A FAULTY STEERING COLUMN, REPROGRAMMING AND SETUP AT A COST OF $741.00. SIMILAR POWER STEERING ISSUES ARE MENTIONED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V153000 BUT THE VIN OF MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS A FUEL LEAK AND GAS FUMES. CAUSED BY HEAT AND VEHICLE VIBRATIONS. *TR
I PURCHASED A PONTIAC G6 IN SEPTEMBER 2014. SINCE OCTOBER 2014, THE CAR HAS BEEN PULLING TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT, AND THE STEERING WHEEL HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTING ITSELF TO THE NORMAL POSTION. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES AND COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS, AND I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO OTHER MULTIPLE PLACES AND THEY HAVE NOT CAME TO A CONCLUSION. I GOT AN ALIGNMENT DONE AND THAT HAS NOT CORRECTED THE ISSUE. WHEN I AM GOING AROUND A RIGHT TURN THE CAR CATCHES AND I MANUALLY NEED TO TURN THE WHEEL. GOING AROUND A LEFT TURN IT DOES THE SAME THING. THERE IS NO CODE FOR THE POWER STEERING. *TR

BLINKER SWITCH WON'T TURN OFF AFTER YOU TURN CORNER. *TR
THE DIM HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT I HAVE REPLACED THEM 3 TIMES AND STILL GO OUT I BELIEVE IT'S IN THE WIRING BECAUSE IF YOU HIT THE HEADLIGHT THEY WILL SOON COME BACK ON. I'VE READ THE WIRING HARNESS GETS TO HOT AND MELTS THE WIRES SEEMS LIKE A FIRED HAZARD TO ME. *TR
I WAS IN A DRIVE THRU LINE AT A LOCAL RESTAURANT, WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE FORWARD IN LINE THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING AND A POWER STEERING FAILURE LIGHT APPEARED IN THE RADIO DISPLAY SCREEN. I HAD TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTART THE VEHICLE TO CLEAR THE CONDITION. THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE PULLING INTO A GAS STATION. AS I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND ENTERED A GAS STATION I LOST POWER STEERING. ON THIS OCCASION I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 TO 7 MPH. I AGAIN HAD TO SHUT OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTART TO CLEAR THIS CONDITION. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON APPROXIMATELY 3 ADDITIONAL OCCASIONS. *TR
DRIVER SIDE LOW-BEAM HEADLIGHT NOT WORKING. REPLACED BULB IN 23 NOVEMBER 2013 AND AGAIN ON 5 OCTOBER 2014. LIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN ON 15 OCTOBER 2014. DEALER REPLACED HEADLIGHT LAMP SOCKET AS SOCKET WAS BURNT OUT. INTERNET SEARCHES SHOW NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH PONTIAC G6 HEADLAMPS HAVING ISSUES WITH HEADLIGHT LAMP SOCKETS ... ELECTRICAL ARCING WITHIN SOCKET CAUSING CARBON BUILD UP AND LAMP FAILURE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM BY GM ON THIS VEHICLE TO FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

POWER STEERING FLASHED ON THE DIC AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. AFTER TURNING THE WHEEL AND RESTARTING THE CAR THE POWER STEERING WORKED FINE. AFTER ABOUT A MONTH OF THIS HAPPENING IT STOPPED. HOWEVER, THE SAME PROBLEM IS OCCURRING AGAIN NOW. ALSO NOW THE STEERING IS MAKING SOME NOISED ACCOMPANIED BY SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL, EVEN WHILE THE CAR IS IN PARK. *TR

THE PROBLEM WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIRED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
ON OCTOBER 7, 2014, AS I WAS WAITING FOR THE STOP LIGHT TO CHANGE. MY CAR TURNED OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN. ON THE FOLLOWING DAY, AFTER I PARKED MY CAR, I WENT TO START IT, AND IT DIDN'T CRANK AT ALL. I WENT TO GET THE BATTERY, STARTER, AND ALTERNATOR CHECKED, THEY ALL PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS.
ON DAY OF INCIDENT...DROVE APPROX 6 MILES BEFORE COMPLETE FAILURE OF POWER STEERING WHICH OCCURRED AFTER ACCELERATING FROM FULL STOP (STOP SIGN). DID NOT REGAIN POWER STEERING FUNCTION FOR 3 MILES UNTIL ENGINE WAS SHUT COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTARTED. *TR
MY VEHICLE HYDROPLANED ON RAIN SLICK HIGHWAY. STARTED TO SPIN, CUT ACROSS 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC. REAR PASSENGER SIDE BUMPER HIT CONCRETE SHOULDER DIVIDER, CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO BECOME MOMENTARILY AIRBORNE AND ROLLOVER TWICE BEFORE FINALLY COMING TO A STOP, FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. MY VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH NUMEROUS AIRBAGS AND NOT EVEN ONE OF THEM DEPLOYED. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY UNLESS THE BRAKE IS APPLIED (TALK ABOUT SAFETY HAZARD!), THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL RANDOMLY DISENGAGE, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL ALARM AND LIGHT UP.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIR CONDITIONER SHUT OFF INDEPENDENTLY AND THE THERMOSTAT WOULD NOT DISPLAY THE CORRECT TEMPERATURE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER LOCKS FAILED TO OPERATE AND AS A RESULT, THE KEY FOB HAD TO BE USED IN ORDER TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE DOORS WHEN INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT CONNECTORS OR WIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,667.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO A SAFE LOCATION WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
I HAVE NOTICED A ODD GAS SMELL IN MY CAR AROUND 60,000 MILES. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE GAS CAP, SO I REPLACED IT AND THE SMELL PERSISTED. I HAD MY CAR DIAGNOSED BY BOTH A GM AND A FIRESTONE TECHNICIAN AND THEY CONCLUDED IT WAS A CRACKED FUEL PUMP. IT SEEPS GAS OUT UNDER MY VEHICLE AND IF THERE IS AN IGNITION SOURCE I COULD BLOW UP AND DIE. KNOWING OF THE SEVERITY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE I AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE IT. I HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT IN 2 MONTHS SINCE IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED. MY FAMILY DIDN'T WANT ME TO DRIVE HOME FOR THANKSGIVING BECAUSE THEY FEARED MY CAR WOULD HURT ME. THE GM DEALERSHIP DID NOT OFFER TO FIX IT FOR OTHER THAN FULL COSTS EVEN WHEN THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL SIMILAR MODELS AND THE PONTIAC G5 ALSO HAD A RECALL ON THE CRACKED FUEL PUMP FOR 2009S. GM USES THE SAME PARTS IN THEIR CARS ESPECIALLY THE PLASTIC PART THAT IS PRONE TO CRACK IN THE FUEL PUMP, SO I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY HAVEN'T RECALLED THE CARS YET. IT STARTED AT 60,000 MILES. IT IS ATYPICAL OF A CAR TO HAVE A DEFECT AT THAT YOUNG OF A AGE, IT CAN'T BE DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I HAVE CONTACTED GM DIRECTLY SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY KEEP SHUTTING ME DOWN AND HAVE EVEN TRIED THE DEALERSHIP AND ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS MAKE MONEY OFF ME AND THEY DON'T REALIZE THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE HERE AND LIVES COULD BE AT STAKE.
VEHICLE STARTED SMELLING OF GASOLINE WITH NO APPARENT LEAKS. THE MOTOR HAD BEGUN TO RUN ROUGHLY AND DID NOT START IMMEDIATELY UPON TURNING OVER. NOT LONG AFTER, GASOLINE BEGAN TO DRIP FROM THE HEAT SHIELD BELOW THE FUEL TANK. UPON REMOVAL OF THE FUEL TANK, IT WAS FOUND THAT GASOLINE HAD POOLED ON TOP OF THE TANK AND WAS LEAKING FROM A CRACKED FUEL LINE ELBOW DIRECTLY ABOVE THE FUEL PUMP. UPON REMOVAL OF THE TANK, THE LINE BROKE COMPLETELY FROM THE PUMP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 PONTIAC G6 GT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE JUMP STARTED AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
ON SEP 12TH 2014 THERE WAS A FIRE IN MY 2009 PONTIAC G6. LUCKILY SOMEONE NEARBY HAD A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT IT OUT, AND ALL OCCUPANTS ESCAPED UNHARMED. IT IS CURRENTLY AT A GM DEALER IN OWING MILLS MD, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEIR ASSESSMENT IS THAT THE POWER STEERING HOSE SOMEHOW CAME TO REST ON THE EXHAUST PIPE OR CATALYTIC CONVERTER, OR THAT THE HEAT SHIELD AROUND THE HOSE HAD BROKEN. THIS THEN CAUSED THE POWER STEERING FLUID TO HIT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WHICH THEN CAUSED THE FIRE. ANOTHER MECHANIC THAT I HAD IT TOWED TO BEFORE THE DEALER (I ASSUMED GOING TO THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS BEST) TOLD ME THAT HE CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THEY WOULD DESIGN THE CAR SO THAT THE POWER STEERING HOSE WOULD BE SO CLOSE TO SUCH HOT PARTS--AN INSURANCE ADJUSTOR WHO SAY THE CAR TODAY ALSO SAID THAT THE REPLACEMENT THAT THE DEALER HAS SINCE PUT IN IS IN THE SPOT THAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR, BUT HE TOO CANNOT BELIEVE HOW CARELESS IT WAS TO DESIGN IT THERE-I LOOKED ONLINE AND SAW A NUMBER OF OTHER POSTS FROM PEOPLE THAT HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM-THE RESULTING FIRE DESTROYED THE AIR CONDITIONER HOSE ASSEMBLY, AND THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALER TOLD ME IT ALSO DAMAGED THE EVAPORATOR LINE-HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT IS AMAZING THAT IT WAS DESIGNED TO BE SO TIGHT TO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM-THANK GOD NO ONE WAS HURT, AND WHEN THE FIRE HAPPENED THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN SLOWLY IN A NEIGHBORHOOD, INSTEAD OF ON THE HIGHWAY WHICH IT HAD JUST EXITED. *TR
SEPTEMBER 10, 2014 DEAR NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION & GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER, I HAVE BEEN THE CUSTOMER OF TWO GENERAL MOTORS RECALLS. FIRST RECALL NOTICE WAS FOR A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT, IGNITION FIX AND 2009 PONTIAC G6 FOR A BODY CONTROL MODULE CONNECTION TO THE BRAKE APPLY SENSOR. I HAD DIFFICULTY WAITING FOR THE PARTS FOR THE CHEVY COBALT. FIRST CALL I MADE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WAS GREETED WITH THE FOLLOWING RESPONSE (FROM THE DEALERSHIP) CALL BACK IN APRIL (MY CALL WAS MADE IN FEBRUARY ? WHEN I RECEIVED THE LETTER). I CALLED IN MAY, THEY STILL DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR, AND THEY WERE UNWILLING TO PUT MY NAME ON A LIST TO CALL ME BACK. I FINALLY CALLED ANOTHER DEALERSHIP ? THEY ORDERED THE PART AND CALLED ME BACK AND REPAIRED MY VEHICLE. SO, WHEN THE SECOND RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED FOR THE PONTIAC G6, I CALLED THE SECOND DEALERSHIP ? WHERE I FINALLY HAD RESOLUTION TO THE FIRST RECALL. THIS DEALERSHIP IS 30 MINUTES FROM MY RESIDENCE. THE FIRST DEALERSHIP WAS 2 MILES FROM MY HOME. I CALLED, THEY HAD THE PARTS AND I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 3:00PM ON TUESDAY. I TOOK TIME OFF WORK, ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP, AND I WAS TOLD THEY WERE OUT OF PARTS. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? WHEN YOU MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, SHOULDN'T YOUR PART BE SET-ASIDE? I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE UN-PROFESSIONALISM FROM THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
LETTER FROM CONSTITUENT REGARDING HER PONTIAC G6 COUPE; SHE'S HAVING PROBLEMS SELLING HER VEHICLE DUE TO A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE; REQUEST THE ADVICE AS TO THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION THAT CAN BE TAKEN AGAINST GM FOR THE SWIFT RESOLUTION OF THIS MATTER. *SD

IN ADDITION, THE SHIFT LEVER FAILED TO SHIFT INTO THE DRIVE POSITION. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE IGNITION KEY FAILED TO DISENGAGE FROM THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING TORQUE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THE SAME HEADLIGHT AT LEAST THREE TIMES. TODAY, 26 SEPT 2014, I ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT BULB AGAIN, BUT FOUND THAT THE CONNECTOR HAS MELTED. I'M CONCERNED THAT MY OTHER HEADLIGHT MAY GO OUT WHILE DRIVING, SO I WILL SEE WHAT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS AFTER THE VEHICLE INSPECTION. I HAVE HEARD THAT IT CAN COST BETWEEN 400 TO 500 DOLLARS. PLEASE HAVE THIS INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TR

THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. I'VE BEEN REPLACING PARTS TO TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF WHY THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON, THE CRUISE CONTROL KICKS OFF, THE TRACTION CONTROL STAYS ON. ALL THESE PROBLEMS ARE ALL AT THE SAME TIME.I GET IT FIXED AND THEN 3 WEEKS LATER ITS THE SAME ALL OVER AGAIN BUT IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE. ALOT OF PEOPLE I KNOW WITH THIS CAR KEEP SPENDING MONEY AND IT NEVER GETS FIXED THE RIGHT WAY. WE ALL NEED A SOLUTION.
ENGINE IS 3.5 L V6 . AFTER STARTING ENGINE, SEVERAL MINUTES LATER ENGINE STARTS MAKING A LOUD RAPPING NOISE WHICH LASTS SEVERAL MORE MINUTES, THEN SLOWLY DISAPPEARS. GM DEALER INVESTIGATED AND SAID IT DID NOT KNOW CAUSE. SAID WAIT TILL NOISE IS SEVERE.I THINK IT IS TIMING CHAIN RELATED! TENSIONER, WORN GUIDE. ONLY 3000 MILES ON ENGINE. 11/5/2016.
FOR SEVERAL WEEK, CAR HAS BEEN DISPLAYING "POWER STEERING" MESSAGE, AT WHICH TIME THE VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT TO STEER. AT THE REFERENCED INCIDENT ABOVE, THE "POWER STEERING" MESSAGE ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE POWER STEERING FAILED, AND DID NOT RETURN TO OPERATION, EVEN AFTER TURNING OFF AND RE-STARTING CAR. I'VE BEEN IN TWO NEAR REAR END COLLISIONS DUE TO BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE; I WAS PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE & TOLD THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE STAYING LIT WHILE DRIVING AND THEN I WAS PULLED OVER AGAIN & TOLD THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT LIT UP WHEN I BRAKING. I WAS ABLE TO SHOW BOTH OFFICERS THE RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED FROM GM & I WAS ADVISED TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED IMMEDIATELY AS I WAS PUTTING MYSELF AND OTHERS AT RISK OF POSSIBLE ACCIDENT AND INJURIES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENABLED AND WOULD NOT DISENGAGE WHEN I BRAKE NOR DISENGAGE WHEN I PRESSED THE ON/OFF BUTTON. I HAD TO CYCLE THE KEY OFF/ON IN ORDER TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. OTHER TIMES, THE CRUISE WILL NOT ENGAGE WHEN ON/OFF BUTTON IS PRESSED. I AM ALSO HAVING ISSUES SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR REVERSE, ALSO E.S.C. ISN'T WORKING AS IT SHOULD, NOR THE PANIC BRAKE ASSIST FEATURES. LIGHTS FOR E.S.C. TCS RANDOMLY FLASH AND FLICKER. ALL THESE ARE INDICATIONS ARE CONSISTENT WITH THE GM RECALL NOTICE 13036. AS STATED BEFORE, I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN TWO COLLISIONS AND BEEN PULLED OVER TWICE. CONTACTED GM FIVE TIMES - CASE #[XXX] ON FILE. GM STATED THAT MY CAR MUST BE SERVICED BY LOCAL DEALERSHIP BUT WILL NOT COVER COSTS. THE LOCAL DEALER WANTS DIAGNOSTIC FEES UP FRONT, WHICH I CANNOT AFFORD. GM HASN'T NOTIFIED DEALERSHIPS OF THE RECALL 13036 TO DATE. DO I NEED TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT, HARMING MYSELF AND OTHERS, BEFORE THIS IS ADDRESSED BY GM? DOES THERE HAVE TO BE LOSS OF LIFE TO GET GM TO FIX THE KNOWN ISSUES OUTLINED IN RECALL 13036? 2009 PONTIAC G6. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS PROBLEM. CONSUMER HAS DIFFERENT VEHICLE AND ODI# COMPLAINT IN ARTEMIS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE $150 TO REPLACE THE BULB. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER CHANGED THE BULBS HIMSELF. THE CONSUMER STATED IT APPEARED AS IF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FEEDING THE HEADLIGHTS HAD A DESIGN PROBLEM, WHICH RESULTED IN CUSTOMERS FREQUENTLY PAYING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS WITHOUT THE ISSUE BEING RESOLVED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FREQUENTLY FAILING WAS DUE TO MELTED SOCKETS. *JB
HEADLIGHTS ON 2009 PONTIAC G6 GT CONSTANTLY GOING OUT. THE WIRING HARNESS HAS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE CONNECTION MELTS AND HAVE TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS. CALLED GM AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS NOT A CONCERN FOR THEM AND WILL NOT ASSIST IN FIXING THE ISSUE. THIS WILL BE THE 3RD TIME I HAVE REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE WITH THE AMOUNT OF HEAT BEING GENERATED TO CAUSE THE CONNECTORS TO MELT.. ALSO HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE BRIGHTS ON TO AVOID BEING PULLED OVER. *TR

WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING SEIZED, A WARNING ALARM SOUNDED, AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING APPEARED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
STARTED SMELLING FUEL ON EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE, MOST PROMINENTLY NEAR THE GAS TANK. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FOUND THAT THE LINE CONNECTED TO THE FUEL PUMP WAS CORRODING AND FUEL WAS LEAKING. THEY WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL PUMP MODULE, AS PARTS ARE NOT SOLD SEPARATELY. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THESE ARE KNOWN ISSUES WITH PONTIACS. DID A LITTLE DIGGING AND FOUND THAT THERE WERE OVER 40,000 RECALLS ON GM PRODUCTS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE, HOWEVER, FOR SOME REASON THE 2009 PONTIAC G6 DID NOT MAKE THAT LIST. APPARENTLY WE NEED SOME MORE COMPLAINTS TO GET GM TO ADD THE G6 TO THE RECALL LIST (AS LEAKING FUEL COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD!!!!).

WIFE WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ONTO RT 46 HERE IN AUSTINTOWN, OHIO WHEN THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND SHE LOST STEERING. SHE HAD NOT REACHED THE SPEED LIMIT OF 40MPH WHEN THIS OCCURRED. SHE MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE OF THE ROAD AND INTO A GAS STATION LOT GOING UP OVER A CURB PARKED IT AND THEN CALLED ME TO COME AND GET HER. I DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME ABOUT A QUARTER OF A MILE WITHOUT THE POWER STEERING. I THEN CALLED PONTIAC'S CUSTOMERS SERVICES AND TO NO PREVAIL GOT ANY SATISFACTION. I THEN MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH SPITZER AUTOWORLD HERE IN LORDSTOWN, OHIO FOR FRIDAY AUG 1ST.,HAD THE VEHICLE LOOKED OVER, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE STEERING COLUMN AND THAT IT HAS TO BE REPLACED. I SEE THAT GM HAS RECALLS FOR STEERING PROBLEMS ON THE SAME YEAR ,MAKE AND MODEL BUT MY VIN# DOESNOT FALL IN THIS RECALL. SO AS OF MONDAY AUG 1ST I WILL BE BACK ON THE PHONE WITH PONTIAC. *TR
AT LOW SPEED THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD "POP" SOUND, WHICH WAS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY SMOKE FILLING THE INTERIOR VIA THE AIR VENTS. THE CAR WAS IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF AND THE HOOD OPENED. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS ON FIRE WITH FLAMES BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND FIRE WALL. UPON PUTTING THE FIRE OUT IT WAS FOUND THAT THE POWER STEERING FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT OF THE CAR ONTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD, RESULTING IN MELTING THE ENGINE WIRING AND OTHER COMPONENTS. THE ENTIRE SIDE OF THE CAR WAS SPRAYED WITH POWER STEERING FLUID AND THE TOP OF THE FENDER HAD BLACK SOOT FROM THE FIRE. THE HOOD PAD AND FIRE WALL INSULATION SHOWED LARGE AMOUNTS OF FIRE DAMAGE. *TR

I GET IN MY CAR PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND START MY CAR, I THEN PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND GET GOING ABOUT 35/40 AND THE DOOR LOCKS START GOING UP AND DOWN BY THEM SELF. LATER THAT DAY I OPEN MY DOOR AND GET IN MY CAR WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE DOOR LOCKS START TO GO UP AND DOWN AGAIN ON THERE OWN. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM AND THEY TELL ME MY VIN HAS NO RECALLS. REALLY ??? THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE WITH THE BACK DOORS AND NOW THEY ALL DO IT. , I THINK GM NEEDS TO FIX THIS AND THEY NEED TO CHECK ALL PONTAC G6'S FOR ALL THE RECALLS THEY HAVE ON THESE CARS. *JS
