TAKATA RECALL ,DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON HAVE CODE FOR PROBLEM.
A COMPLIANT ABOUT A RECALL. A FEW MONTHS AGO, MY SON TOOK THE 2006 PONTIAC VIBE INTO A CHEVROLET DEALER IN MAYFIELD, KENTUCKY FOR A RECALL. YOUR RECORDS SHOULD SHOW WHAT WAS DONE. I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO CLOSED RECALLS. A FEW DAYS LATER THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND I JUST GOT THOUGH TAKING THE VIBE INTO A DEALERSHIP A WEEK AGO, COURTESY BUICK. THEY SAID IT NEEDED A COMMUNICATION MODULE 1.5/6583. AFTER SPENDING 900+ DOLLARS ON THE PART AND LABOR, THEY THEN TOLD US THAT A STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG COIL ASSEMBLY WAS ALSO SHORTED OUT. THEY DID NOT TELL US THAT THE ORIGINAL PART MIGHT NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IT WOULD BE ANOTHER 300+ DOLLARS FOR THIS PART AND THEY COULD NOT SAY THAT WOULD FIX THE AIR BAG. OUR AIR BAGS WERE FUNCTIONING UNTIL THE NEW PART WAS PUT INTO THE OLD SYSTEM. WE DID NOT SPEND MORE MONEY TO FIX THE VIBE. WE ALSO HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAS A VIBE AND HE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE ARE TOO MANY PROBLEMS WITH AIR BAGS. WE NEED TO KNOW THAT A SAFETY FEATURE IS A SAFETY FEATURE. LIVES ARE AT STAKE. WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP FIX THIS PROBLEM. TELL FRIENDS COMPLAINTS TO ?. THANK YOU.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE AND TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS HOWEVER, DESPITE EACH REPAIRS, THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD RETURN. THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2006 PONTIAC VIBE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH ON A WET ROAD DOWN A HILL, THE CONTACT HIT A WET PATCH OF ROAD. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. AS A RESULT, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT RAIL WAS FRACTURED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND BRUISES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

TAKATA RECALL AFTER MAKING AN APPOINTMENT AND DRIVING OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE NEEDED PARTS AND SAID IT WOULD TAKE MONTHS TO GET THEM.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND O2 SENSOR FAILED. ADDITIONAL TESTING WAS REQUIRED TO FURTHER INSPECT THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE VIN WAS INCLUDED BUT NOT NOTIFIED OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V286000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO ADDRESS BEING REFERRED TO A DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND TO DETERMINE WHEN A DEALER WOULD BE ABLE TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. I TOOK THIS CAR IN FOR A PASSENGER BAG RECALL. MY NIECE DRIVES THE CAR AND I WAS UNAWARE THAT THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WAS STAYING ON, ON THE DASHBOARD. MY NIECE THOUGHT IT WAS NORMAL SINCE IT STARTED AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK FROM THE DEALER. I RECENTLY SAW THE PROBLEM AND HAD AN SRS CODE READER PINPOINT THE PROBLEM TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WHICH WAS WORKED ON FOR THE RECALL.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON & OFF WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE IT. MY MOTHER JUST GOT THIS CAR & IT SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS WITH IT BEING ACCURATE.
MY DAUGHTER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE AIR BAGS ABOUT A YEAR AGO SHE CALLEDC AND WAS TOLD THE AIRBAGS WERE BACKORDERED AND THEY WOULD GET BACK TO HER THEY HAVEN'T. SHE RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE AIRBAGS SO I CALLED AND GOT THE RUN AROUND AND FINALLY TRANSFERRED TO WATSON CHEVROLET FOR REPAIRS. APRIL 14, 2016 I SPOKE TO WATSON AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE TWO WEEKS BEFORE THEY WOULD HAVE THE PART. I CALLED TODAY MAY 4, 2016 AND THE PART IS STILL ON BACKORDER. MEANWHILE THIS VEHICLE IS BEING USED AND NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. HOW LONG WILL WE HAVE TO WAIT TO GET THIS FIXED?

TAKATA RECALL - THIS RECALL IS NOW APPROXIMATELY 1.5 YEARS FROM THE TIME IT WAS ISSUED. APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS AGO (A FULL YEAR AFTER THE RECALL WAS ISSUED) I FINALLY RECIEVED A NOTICE FROM PONTIAC INFORMING OF THIS RECALL. IN BOLD-UNDERLINE TEXT, IT STATED "UNTIL THE REPARI IS PERFORMED, THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SHOULD NOT BE OCCUPIED". I HAVE BEEN PATIENTLY WAITING AND FOLLOWING THIS DIRECTIVE SINCE I HAVE RECEIVED THIS LETTER, HOWEVER IT IS A VERY SIGNIFICANT INCONVIENCE TO MY FAMILY OF FOUR. I DO NOT KNOW HOW PONTIAC/GM EXPECTS US TO UTILIZE THE CAR I HAVE PURCHASED FROM THEM IF I CANNOT USE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. I CALLED TODAY AND SPOKE TO A REPRESENTATIVE AT PONTIAC/GM AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO INFORMATION THAT THEY CAN PROVIDE AND NO TIMELINES AVAILABLE. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A LARGE RECALL AND IT AFFECTS A LOT OF VEHICLES, BUT FRANKLY THAT IS NOT MY PROBLEM. THE RESPONSIBLE PARTIES NEED TO PUT ALL THE RESOURCES (TIME, MONEY, MAN-POWER) THEY CAN AT PRODUCING THE NEEDED PARTS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. ANY ASSISTANCE THAT CAN BE PROVIDED TO EXPEDITE THIS PROCESS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR COUPLE YEARS AGO. I AM AT ABOUT 150000 MILES . MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN TURNING ON AND OFF THIS WHOLE YEAR. COUPLE WEEKS AGO I GOT 2 OPINIONS TO.GET IT CHEVKED.OUT. THE FIRST SPOT GAVE ME A ESTIMATE OF ABOUT 2500 & SECOND PLACE ABOUT THE SAME. THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A GLITXH IN THE 2006 PONTIAC VIBE TRANSMISSUON & COMPUTER. I DRIVE ABOUT AN HOUR TO WORK EVERYDAY. I DO NOT FEEL ANY DIFFERENCE WHEN I DRIVE BUT I DEFINITELY DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ON JUNE 16, 2015, TOYOTA ISSUED AN EXPANDED RECALL ON AIRBAGS IN A WIDE RANGE OF THEIR VEHICLES. MY 2006 PONTIAC VIBE IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER 10, 2015 AND NO RESOLUTION IS IN SITE. THIS IS A POSSIBLY LIFE-THREATENING CONDITION IN THE VEHICLE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. WHAT IS THE NHTSA DOING TO HOLD TOYOTA AND GM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS INEXCUSABLE DELAY? I HAVE NOT HAD AN INCIDENT YET, NOR DO I WANT TO.
