While driving the vehicle the power steering failed making the vehicle very hard to steer. This is a major safety issue. With the inability to steer my life and the lives of the passengers in my vehicle and others on the road were put at risk. This is an ongoing problem that needs to be addressed by RAM.
Regarding [XXX] . I made an appointment to get the Important Safety Recall for the High Pressure Fuel Pump repaired. When I took the vehicle in for the repair on [XXX] I was informed that they did not have the part and they had been waiting a year for parts. Why I wasn't informed of this when I made the appointment is beyond me. If this Safety Recall is so important why is this dealership unable to obtain the parts? This is unacceptable and needs to be rectified for safety of the traveling public. The dealership in question is SHOTTENKIRK CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, 4970 E. Highway 377, Granbury, TX 76049. Phone (817) 279-1500. Thank you for your attention to this matter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Brake System ABS lights came on and stayed on and loss cruise control. Took to local dealer in March and as of June we are still waiting on part for repair. Unable to use truck other than local errands as we are concerned for safety of our employees on long distance deliveries due to no ABS braking and no cruise control
Failure of ABS module. Unable to replace due to manufacturer hold on part. Not safe to drive and nometa on when parts will be available. This is a known issue with many owners experiencing failures.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS system and air suspension computer warning light illuminated and failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with ABS computer module failure and air suspension system failure. The air suspension system was repaired; however, the ABS computer module was not replaced due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that parts were not available. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.
Codes c2209-49, c2200-47, u0121, u11bc, u1110, u1412. ABS, traction control, brake and CEL iluminated. No speedometer and no power steering. Codes will not clear. All wheelspeed sensors are operational per scantool in live data mode. Issue not confermed by dealer or independant as the cost is outrageous. And i cannot find a recall to repair issue. These issues i have had since March 2024. Cost for me to repair would be approximately $1200. Safety systems like these should not need a recall they’ve had years to resolve issues with ABS problems. I’m hoping that Mopar sees these issues with other people and has a recall on the problem. My wife won’t even drive the truck.
Vehicle was sitting in garage. Started vehicle and dash warning for power steering illuminated and no power steering is available.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle drove over a bump and heard an abnormal scraping sound coming from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact discovered that the front fuel tank strap pulled through the frame and began to rub against the driveshaft. As a result of the failure, the fuel tank started to hang off the vehicle. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 171,000.
Turned on vehicle and had complete loss of power steering. No previous issues of this. Unable to get power steering to reset or return to vehicle.
I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500. I share the same problem as thousands of other Ram owners who have a faulty ABS module in their trucks. They are not under recall, Ram/Dodge/Stellantis could not be bothered to dig further into the problem. They have discontinued the part (68228991AD) and similar cross reference part numbers. My ABS doesn't engage and when someone uses an unsafe driving maneuver in the middle of the interstate and I have to slam the brakes, my truck goes into "limp" mode and the ABS doesn't function properly. Someone is going to die if Stellantis doesn't address the issue from their faulty parts. I called several dealerships who say they don't have the part, and that they do not expect to get anymore due to discontinuation of the part. After doing some research online, it appears that thousand of vehicles with that part from 2014-2016 are affected. Please help us take action and hold the auto brand accountable for negligent handling of a manufacturer issue not replacing or providing solution for parts that are critical to driver's safety. Respectfully, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Power steering assist quit working while on the interstate. The steering wheel was extremely hard to turn and indicator light came on. The light was a red steering wheel with red exclamation next to it. I was able to safely pull over. I shut the truck off and looked to see if any fluid was leaking. Did not see any indication of fluid loss. Restarted the truck and steering worked normal. The same thing happened just as I was entering my driveway. I restarted the vehicle multiple times after that, and the red steering wheel indicator flashes immediately. Power steering has been completely lost. This all happened in the same day. I am very thankful that I was driving in a straight line at the moment of steering loss. I am not sure I would have been to avoid an accident if I were on a turn during that moment.
I was driving back home after a long day of work, but I stopped at the gas station first. After putting gas.I started to pull out of the gas station, when the truck suddenly turned off. I turned it on again and a couple miles ahead it started to loss speed. I was going 65 suddenly went down to 40 20 started to stall had to exit the fwy before it stopped. Auto shop say it's the engine. Cost to repair $8,000.00.
I'm sure this is not the first complaint you all have received, and this is not my first attempt at reaching out. My 2014 Laramie Longhorn power steering light comes on when the truck is started, and once the vehicle warms up the light goes out. This has been an issue with the electric power steering in this particular year model. I am unsure why another investigation and or recall have not been opened up yet, but this is definitely a safety concern for my family and others on the roadway. I would love to see this issue taken care of and open up another recall.
The power steering completely failed. Yes! It is available for inspection! If this had occurred during highway speeds (80 mph here) ... OMG! No, the vehicle is not drivable (no steering) so it has not been inspected by anyone but me. The vehicle was fine the day before. This apparently happened while it was turned off overnight. The red steering wheel with the exclamation point is flashing and it cannot be steered at all.
Steering stopped working. There was no accident. Replaced it, but new part still has intermittent steering. No inspection, no warning lights, messages or symptoms before it failed.
Stellantis/Ram for over 10 months now have claim that the ABS Module is under engineering review to me. The ABS Module controls the brake anti skid, sway control, cruise control and other systems. Since 3/2024 I've tried to replace this module but it's not in stock because of not being produced. It's a manufactured control item only. I was informed by Gator Dodge this has been a problem for almost a year now if not longer. Called Stellantis/Ram and was informed to go to a junk yard to get a replacement with no product control. Tried to exchange it for a new truck but the dealer does not want it on it"s lot because of no anti skid and other functions this module controls. If it's not safe enough for Ram to sale how can it be a safe vehicle on public road ways? To answer any questions, yes the truck has been inspect by Gator Ram and a certified independent mechanic. As a retired Airline Captain if this was a plane the FAA would have grounded it until the problems were address.
Anti-Lock Brake Module Internal Failure, error code C2200--49. This ABS failure also takes out the following safety features, anti-lock braking, traction control, trailer towing brake controller, and cruise control. As a result I do not have these safety features, and I tow a 10,000 lb rated trailer that required that the OEM factory brake controller works. A new module is $1200 plus, however there are NONE to be found. It has been on National Back Order for several years, and affects many year models. Failure at first was intermittent and worked during cold weather, but once up to 70 degrees or above it failed consistently, then finally failed permanently. l Intermittent Failure was real risk when towing, as you could not depend on system working in case of emergency.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering assist. The EPS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
The steering is hard (like no power steering) when at a slow speed or at start from stop. Steering is not as tight/hard when at a normal speed. The ease of steering changes mid turn.
Beginning around March 2024: 1) The ABS, Towing, and E-brake dashboard lights stay on; and the Cruise Control stopped working. 2) The brakes and/or transmission locked up when I put the truck in Reverse. It made a noise like it was trying to respond but sort of dropped and locked up and would not move. This has happed a few times intermittently so mechanics have not been able to reproduce the problem. 3) The brakes grabbed to the left, brakes went soft, then I had to push harder. This has happened a few times. 4) My truck is large and heavy so it could really do some damage to other cars and endanger lives. I don’t drive it much for this reason causing me a lot of inconvenience. 5) The dealership and 2 local car repair shops scanned the problem. A lot of codes popped up - including the ABS Module and tire sensors. They said the module was unavailable and under review. They also said tracking down all the causes and completely resolving them would be trial and error as they replaced several parts including the ABS Module and sensors on all 4 tires. I cannot locate the repair shop receipts at present, but 1 shop (Decatur Auto Tech) was $258 on 3/19/2024. Landmark Dodge didn’t charge for the scan on 4/23/2024. They gave me a quote to replace the ABS Module of $1,294.71
Visible exhaust smoke is pouring out of the vents during regen (even when the climate is turned off). This only happens while not in motion and only during regen. It becomes noticeably more difficult to breathe and the cab fills with exhaust smell. I posted my issue in a Facebook group for the powertrain that I’m in and many others say they have the same issue and have brought their trucks to the dealer. They’ve either had their trucks “fixed” and the issue still persists or the dealers advised them that there is no repair available. I noticed there is an almost identical recall for the 2WD models of my truck but it does not include 4WD models.
Power steering (eps) just stopped working and it's impossible to steer. Very unsafe. Costly repair and should be recalled.
Truck's power steering goes out, I have to restart truck a few times for it to work again. Service Power steering comes on when it's not working. It has not gone out while driving but I am fearful that it will.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. Power steering failed
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the power steering became inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 117,000.
The power steering on my 2014 Ram 1500 seems to be not working at times. The steering can be hard to turn at times and is happening more frequently. I did some research and there have been recalls on this issue but not the 2014 model year. I feel this is an accident waiting to happen as i need my vehicle every day and cannot afford the price tag to make this repair. i have seen on social media that many other have this same problem and something needs to be done about it.
Dashboard says that my left headlight is out, or my left and sometimes right turn signals are out. Upon checking, the headlight is new and the turn signals are working properly outside of the truck.
I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden my power steering went out and the truck jerked, nearly causing me to roll the vehicle. I managed to get it wheel straight enough that I did not wreck. Never been more scared in my life. I got off the highway near a local shop and the mechanic says this is an on going problem with the rack and pinions in my make and model year truck.
Started off with intermittent power steering failure which has now led into complete power steering failure
In 2021, my power steering module failed and was inoperable. The power steering module was replaced and now, less than 3x years and < 20,000 miles the power steering module is failing again. In 2021, the power steering failed instantly, without warning. It was almost impossible to steer the car without 'hanging' on the steering wheel as the steering wheel was 'fighting' the driver's input. In 2024, the power steering is failing intermittently. Sometimes turning the steering wheel is easy and tires are responsive, other times the steering wheel appears to 'catch' and resist/fight the driver and then respond sporadically, making steering difficult to predict.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 60–65 MPH, the power steering became inoperable. The steering wheel was difficult to turn off the road. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V167000 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 102,795.
While entering the on ramp to the Interstate the electronic power steering failed without warning. It was raining and I narrowly avoided crashing. My mechanic inspected the truck and gave an estimate for repairs, saying he's seen this failure in one other similar truck.
Crankshaft Tone Reluctor Wheel failed while driving. Caused crank/no run situation. Towed to dealer, was told there was a recall(66A / 23V-411) to flash software to remedy situation. Software did not correct the issue and was told parts needed to be replaced and recall did not cover parts or labor. Parts were replaced ($1635 parts and labor). Truck is back on the road. Will be submitting a claim for reimbursement. Why a known issue is not covered entirely, puzzles me.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated while attempting to honk the horn, the contact became aware that the controls behind the steering wheel were inoperable. The service air bag systems warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who informed the contact to contact the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
Intermittent power steering. Works great then all of a sudden have no steering, then a minute later it’s back working. Other times it is very choppy steering.
The contact owns a 2014 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel was shaking, and the vehicle was swerving. The contact pulled over and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted, and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: RQ23003 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
Despite numerous attempts to resolve the matter, I've faced obstacles and a lack of clarity from Dodge Corporation. Recently, my 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie experienced a sudden ABS light issue, affecting traction and cruise control. This has made driving perilous in Texas's hazardous conditions. We've been quoted $2000 (part itself is $1300) for repairs, but the required part is on backorder, with no ETA provided by Dodge Corporate. This situation poses a significant safety risk to my family, yet we're unable to proceed due to part unavailability and a lack of transparency. I request urgent assistance or guidance on resolving this matter. Question #1- The ABS module in the 2014 Ram 1500 Laramie has failed, affecting the ABS system, traction control, and cruise control. The specific part number is 68228991AD. The failed component, the ABS module, should be available for inspection upon request. Question #2- The failure of the ABS module has compromised the functionality of the ABS system, which is crucial for maintaining stability and control on slippery roads, especially in hazardous conditions. This puts the safety of the driver, passengers, and others on the road at risk, particularly in situations where ABS is necessary to prevent accidents. Question #3- Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a mechanic, and the necessary repairs have been identified. The mechanic determined that the issue lies with the ABS module. Question #4- The vehicle and the ABS component have been inspected by a mechanic, revealing that the issue lies with the ABS module. However, neither the police nor insurance representatives have inspected the vehicle in relation to this matter. Question #5- Yes, the ABS light on the dashboard appeared as a warning sign of the problem with the ABS system. This occurred suddenly and without prior indication of an issue until the warning light illuminated.
Steering stopped working and has error code. Tried resetting and such and still not working
I was driving my 2014 ram in a 25 mph residential area, and went to turn right and wound up hitting the curb on the other side of the street because my truck would not make the full turn. I continued to drive and test the left and right turn, and it refused to turn on either side. There were no warning lights, and no codes were found when tested. I am infuriated that this is not considered recall material. It is extremely dangerous to the driver and anyone else in it's path. I am fortunate enough to not have been driving to work at 60mph. I had been loyal to dodge for years, but that is a thing of the past. I am in the process of buying another vehicle at a very inopportune time.
Electric Power Steering has stopped working. The vehicle is very difficult to turn and return to straight. NO warning lamps or service lights appear.
