While drivinh ABS module stopped working in 2019 Ram 1500, found out their is a recall but my vehicle is not included....The OEM module is back ordered since Covid....This is unacceptable because that tells me this is a common problem and should be addressed.
Our 2019 Ram 1500 has less than 40,000 miles but now diagnosed with Internal Failure in ABS Module and Hydraulic control. There is currently no ABS recall linked to our VIN but a similar ABS recall covers our 2019 truck year and Ram 1500 truck model (24V-653). Dealership and Stellantis Recall support cannot help and declined our request for appeal on this. We are told we can later apply for reimbursement if a recall is later issued - but this problem should be investigated.

Service electronic braking system message came on along with the traction control light
I took my truck to the RAM Dealership to check my ABS light on and Brake light on and 4 warning messages that the Brake system needs to be serviced. In the afternoon I called the dealer and the answer was that the ABS module failed and needs to be replaced, but the part is on national backorder and they cannot provide an estimate on when and even if a part will ever be available for my ABS module repair. Now I will be handed the keys to my truck back tomorrow where all warning lights are still on and no repair is even on the horizon, and it is still safe because the hydraulic brakes are still working. The ABS module however might not be replaced in a long time and I will be driving my vehicle without it working properly.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated the "Service Park Brake" light was illuminated. After starting the vehicle, the manual brake automatically engaged and failed to release, making it difficult to move the gear shifter to park. The contact restarted the vehicle several times before being able to move the gear shifter. The TPMS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who diagnosed that the ABS module had failed and needed to be replaced due to the software update failing to fix the vehicle. The ABS module was replaced; however, the ABS warning light illuminated, and other repairs were needed. The ABS module was replaced twice. There were no additional repairs completed. The vehicle remained at the dealer for 7 weeks. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

The vehicle accelerated over the concrete parking block and crashed into the grocery store's front window. The contact stated that the incident happened so quickly that they were uncertain if any warning lights appeared on the instrument panel or if the brake pedal was depressed during the acceleration. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact and her husband were taken to the hospital by ambulance; however, neither suffered any injuries. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident. A police report was filed. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent tow yard before the contact's insurance had the vehicle towed to an independent body repair shop. The contact stated that the store's large front glass was shattered as a result of the accident, but was unaware if any other property was damaged. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer had yet been notified of the failure. While driving I noticed a message that said “service electrical brake system. I took it to my local Ram dealer. They hooked up a tablet that said there was something wrong with the ABS module and it needs to be replaced. The tech then told me that there are no ABS modules available anywhere in the country, they are on back order. So here is where the complaint begins. If there are none available, that would suggest to me that an awful lot of these ABS modules have gone bad and had to be replaced I then called Ram customer service and they requested I get an order number and part number from my local Ram dealer. I did so and they had another customer service person call and when I spoke to her she said the ABS modules are unavailable because they are currently under review by their engineers. Which tells me that there is something wrong with the ABS modules. There isn’t much more of a safety hazard then not having brakes. I don’t see why a recall has not been initiated by Ram or Chrysler for these ABS modules. I am asking you to start an investigation into this problem. ABS sensor isn't working so it doesn't stop correctly. They say they can't get a new one because they are back ordered so this must be happening to other Ram trucks besides mine if they are back ordered so far out they can give me an ETA on one.
When I attempted to suddenly brake once I saw the car in front of me braking, my brakes locked and the truck slid into the vehicle in front of me. The failure of the ESC system did not allow the expected intervention that is relied upon to avoid a vehicle crash without prior warning. I was in the deceleration phase of braking quickly, but the brakes did not respond in a timely manner. I was not made aware of the recall of the ABS control module software until after the accident took place. If I would have been made aware of such a defect I would have taken the precautions and action to repair or remedy the failed system to avoid unnecessary risk to both myself and others.
