Unknown, this past winter while coming across a slight bend in the road my Ram lost control causing the rear to slide outward. I was driving very slowly on a slightly froze asphalt road. I don't think my traction control turned on. I almost slid into a fire hydrant on the side of the road.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the active air dam system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.
The 8.4in screen made by Stellantis delaminating is a common issue for them and they refuse to put a recall out for it. Some screens including mine are delaminating to where it’s difficult to see the backup camera in the day time, making it a safety issue. It also makes the screen harder to read, causing more attention to be focused on the screen rather than the road.
Brake module is not working traction control not working and cruise control not work because of brake module not working
On 02/11/2024 my boyfriend and I were involved in a rear-end collision. The driver that hit us was going 60 to 70 mph at the time of impact while we were sitting at a traffic light. The airbags did not deploy and now my boyfriend and I have sustained severe injuries due to the accident.
The persistent water leakage issue in my vehicle, which has been ongoing for an extended period. Water pooling under the left rear seat, even seeping beneath the mat. This not only poses a serious inconvenience but also raises concerns about potential damage to the vehicle's interior and electronic components. Please see attached document from the dealership.
2019 RAM 1500 50,000 miles. About 2 months ago while filling my gas tank, the pump started clicking every .50 cents or so. Multiple gas stations and different pumps tried, the problem persisted. Only with very light pressure, I could get it to fuel about $10.00 before stopping. It would take upward of 20 minutes or more to fill about a 1/2 tank. Heading into the winter months, I knew this would become an issue with cold temps coming. I took it to the dealership and was told I needed to have the fuel tank replaced. Due to EVP valves failing. The fuel tanks were back ordered and not covered under warranty. 2 months and $1400.00 later I have a new working fuel tank. How could a part this expensive and with no real wear and tear not be covered under warranty?
Lifter and camshaft failure, Spark plug and coil issues.
The digital speedometer display stopped working, so no speed is displayed in the cluster while driving. When the vehicle is started the display never turns on so you can't see speed, odometer or any safety warnings.
This truck has a serious safety issue that FCA is ignoring. The exhaust manifolds/bolts are faulty and leak exhaust gas into the cabin of the vehicle causing all passengers to be subjected to high levels of carbon monoxide and exhaust gases. This poses a serious safety hazard for bother drivers and passengers of all vehicles on the road. The company has been aware of the exhaust manifold issue affecting Ram trucks for years yet when this truck experienced a known problem the consumer (me) is still burdened with paying over 900 per side to get each manifold repaired and replaced. This is absolutely unacceptable, especially when both sides just fail like my truck did at the same time. I can’t sell it it’s not safe to drive. I can’t afford to fix it and it ain’t worth anything to trade in due to this known issue. Please help!!
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the air bag warning light had been illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure where it was confirmed there was no warranty or recall coverage on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 49,941.
The backup camera started getting very foggy, overly sensitive to lights at night making it very blurry. I bought an aftermarket camera as a direct OEM replacement which works fine, however the onboard Uconnect 12" display will not allow me to turn back on the backup guidance lines over the video for the aftermarket camera on the display. I put the original camera back on, sometimes it has a horrible picture, sometimes just a fog and rarely good quality but either way the guidance lines do show clearly even when the camera's image is horrible. I put the aftermarket camera back on and it would not display or allow me to turn on the reverse backup guidance lines. Did they build in a feature that doesn't allow aftermarket part to be used in the software? From my understanding that would be illegal.
Vehicle 4WD functionality. Vehicle fails to engage 4wd system. If 4wd does get engaged and used, it will say “4wd overheated” and “service 4wd system” and no longer engage 4wd. Working on getting this to the dealer but seems to be a fairly common issue with these trucks. Multiple individuals complaining of the same issues.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
After putting vehicle in park I pressed the ignition start/stop button to turn the engine off and the engine continued to run only the accessories turned off after 30 minutes pushing the start/stop button did the engine finally turn off.
The vehicles power steering goes out. The wipers turn on automatically. The lights on the dashboard flicker. The battery voltage keeps dying. The message dash starts to go crazy and everything starts to say something is wrong. I was driving on interstate 95 when all power steering went causing me to lose control of the truck. I almost crashed. A car shop did inspect it but could not figure out why this was happening when I showed him the footage I took of the truck when this happened.
Vehicle has 23,400 miles. When filling fuel tank, pump shuts off quickly without filling tank and spills gas back out. Dealer say valve in tank is problem and need to replace tank at cost of $3k. No check engine warning lights on dash.
While driving approximately 35mph on snowy roads, the vehicle suddenly locked the brake on the left rear wheel causing the truck to slide uncontrollably spinning sideways into the oncoming lane (no on coming traffic at the time). The brake would not immediately release but I was able to get the truck to move to the shoulder in 4 wheel drive. After a couple minutes the truck made a clunking sound releasing the brake. the service stability light, ABS light, service 4WD light and service electric parking brake lights then lit up. Took the truck to my local Ram dealer to find out the rear brake dust shield rotted out within 5 years causing the dust shield to get tangled up in the braking system damaging the wheel speed sensor. My dealer said its a common problem and the wheel temporarily locking up is common when this happens due to the ABS system losing signal. Dealer replaced both rear brake dust shields and the wheel speed sensor at a cost of $680 (non warranty repair). Truck is a 2019 Ram with 42,000 miles
On 1/13/2024 driving at around 35 mph truck stalls with no waring light displayed on dash and no indication of anything being wrong prior to stalling. I was able to pull off safely to which truck auto shifted into park when I came to complete stop. The truck restarted fine but when I went to put in gear truck would stall. After around 5-10 I was able to to get truck in gear and drive for awhile. Stopped for lunch that day and when returned started truck and when I put in gear truck would stall again. This occurred multiple times until it allowed me to put in gear. I was able to go about 40 miles until issue occurred again this time I was on a highway when it stalled luckily I was able to pull off road and at this point I called a tow truck and had it towed to a dealership. Dealership is stating that they cannot reproduce the problem.
I was rear ended very hard, the car had to have been going at least 50 mph and didn't brake. It lifted the rear wheels of my truck off the ground, and the airbag light came on but none of the airbags deployed. This caused or exacerbated injury to my right leg and a laceration in the back of my head, concussion and TBI. I was in and out of consciousness. The police report contains a statement they said I wrote, but I think the passenger in my car wrote it It makes no sense and I saw it the 1st time when the report was emailed to me.
I had serval problems with the electrical and shifter all of the sudden all lights wipers all instruments turn on shifter wants to stop and cars turns off while driving on highway front brakes vibrate . I know there’s a defect with the electrical and is very dangerous because I looked up problems like mines and other people say they had the same issue with dodge ram 1500 . It happens unexpectedly while driving sometimes . The last time I almost had an accident because it happen nearly a the light was changing to red that was very frightening.
When driving the vehicle on the roadway, the vehicle will turn off the engine and will not allow you to accelerate and will flash a message to put the car in park. When you pull on the side of the road and place the vehicle in park you can then restart the engine. Once the engine is on and you try to put the vehicle in drive the engine will turn off again and request that you put the vehicle in park. It does this over and over for about 5-6 times until it does eventually allow the vehicle to stay in Drive and you can start moving down the road. Once you are driving in the road way it will repeat the process again. During this process there are no warning lights or messages being displayed other than "place the vehicle in park". This is extremely dangerous especially if I was on the interstate or Highway and I lost all capability to move the vehicle. I took the vehicle to a dealership and they were unable to recreate the issue and so no active codes that would point them in the direction of the problem. The dealership told me there was nothing they could do unless they had a code or could recreate the issue.
Happened twice within the last three months. The first time I was driving at a speed between 45-50 mph and vehicle shutoff with instruments reading vehicle must be placed in park depress brake and start engine. After coasting to a safe area to stop the vehicle seemed to have shifted into park just before a full stop and abruptly and aggressively stopped. Depressed brake and restarted then vehicle displayed same message again and shutoff, this time it would not restart. Inspected under hood for an obvious problem, did not find anything. After about 20 minutes vehicle started and was able to continue on with no problems until weeks later when vehicle again shutoff while driving. This time while driving around 70 mph on highway. Was able to coast to stop in emergency lane. This time the instrument panel displayed a TPWS error with no input to all tires. Tried to restart after coming to abrupt stop. Push to start had no power nor did anything inside the vehicle. After about 45 minute the depress brake and push to start symbol illuminated and vehicle started. Was able to make it home about 4 miles away the vehicle shutoff pulling into driveway. Loosing power at 70 mph is not a good feeling.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and several messages were including the Service Power Steering were displayed. The contact pulled over and waited before restarting the vehicle, and the vehicle returned to normal functionality. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer however, the dealer was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The contact stated that several unknown software was updated. The contact stated the failure persisted and had occurred four times prior. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 44,300.
Original owner of this Ram 1500, dealer bought. Around 60600 miles discovered rear passenger seat belt NOT attached or anchored to vehicle, under seat. . Did not appear to have ever been attached. Not bent or disfigured or worn as if torn off of anchor.
Why is service airbag NOT A SAFETY RECALL A simple internet search of this on RAM trucks shows that it should. REALLY ASK WHY SERVICE AIR BAG IS NOT A RECALL.
When i first drive the truck while driving when i am decelerating to come to a stop, the truck will slip out of gear and tell me to put the shifter into park before driving. This has also happened at a yeild sign and while slowing down for a turn. This is very dangerous and someone will be hurt if not addressed. I took to the dealer in Daphne AL Tamaron to get this resolved and a few other things going with the truck the radio a recall on abs system and exhaust leak. witch had nothing to do with this. they were in contact with the auto maker i guess Cylser. they looked at the camshafts and found nothing wrong no does the truck have a codes. I was told to come get my truck because they couldnt find the issue but everything else was fixed. I currently have around 105,000 miles but this has been happening for at least 50k around 30times some almost causing a wreak. i have read that they really havent found an issue besides the wiring harness but not sure this fixed the issue online forms. This will one day cause a fatal accident if not address hopefully not me, or anyone else.
Passenger exhaust manifold is leaking fumes into the cab. The leak started in January of 2024 as a slight ticking and has become worse. The truck has 47k miles.
2019 Ram limited 4x4 . Leather dash has bubble and shrinking exposing air bags . 5th gen trucks are having issues with this that Stelantis [ Ram] knows of. They know of this issue and wont fix. They seem to have fixed this issue in 2023.
On December 30, 2023, my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie edition suddenly and unexpectedly popped out of gear into neutral while driving approx. 35 mph. The vehicle engine was on, however, no power was being applied to the drive train as the vehicle was in Neutral. The engine revved fine, just no power to the drive train. The gear selector flashed “D” and a message appeared on the center console information center instructing me to shift into Park. I had to stop the truck in traffic, shift to Park, then back into Drive to get the truck moving again. This was a very serious and potentially dangerous situation requiring me to stop on the roadway before I could effectuate shifting into Park and then back to Drive to get the truck moving again. I contacted the Ram dealer that same day and was able to obtain an appointment for the truck on Jan. 2, 2024 for an inspection and repairs due to this very serious and potentially life-threatening matter. Respectfully submitted, [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
See attached document for complaint.
I JUST PICKED UP A 2019 RAM 1500 CLASSIC TRADESMAN AND TWO WEEKS AFTER MY POWER STEERING STARTED TO GO IN AND OUT. AND NOW IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL. I CALL THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT'S NOT ON THE RECALL LIST,BUT IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR. THEY GAVE ME A PRICE TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR. I ONLY HAVE 33,980 MILES ON THIS TRUCK.
Car went in limp mode then in full lock down. ABS control module failed After research a very common issue. Hundreds of Ram vehicles affected. Just escaped being hit as the truck went in limp mode. After Gear selector locked car in park, I was in the middle of the road with cars approaching. Had to stand behind the vehicle and wave, so no one would crash into me. Chrysler/ Dodge/Ram is aware of this issue. They are also not releasing ABS modules, due to being under engineer review, meaning they are unable to provide a safe part. Many trucks with super low mileage, and mine has 40K. I would feel very uncomfortable to go on a road trip, if it will ever get fixed. The contact has an email with Ram acknowledging the safety issue and diligently to get the part for repairs.
After coming to a rolling stop and making a right, I would attempt to accelerate. The vehicle would then throw itself out of gear and I could not accelerate. A message would appear on the dash "Shift to P then Desired Gear." The problem would not be fixed until the vehicle was put in park, then back into drive. I took the vehicle to RAM and they could not replicate the issue, but it would happen to me regularly (1-2 times a month at random). I told this to RAM Dealership and RAM Cares, but nobody seemed bothered that it could get people killed. The problem did not seem to get fixed until I took apart the throttle body and cleaned it out by hand. Since then, I had not had an issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the instrument cluster was inoperable. The contact stated that there were no digital functions displayed on the instrument cluster. However, the contact stated that the radio was operable and displayed improperly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 78,300.
When the truck is at low speeds, the power steering will occasionally stop working. If it does not come back on after a moment or two, i can put the car in neutral, which sometimes kicks it back on. I noticed this started happening after i had my truck in tow mode, but that could be just a coincidence.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he became aware that the electric power steering was not functioning properly. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 43,000.
Since purchase of the vehicle in 2019, the truck has experienced this issue. When slowing down to a stop, the vehicle shifts goes out of gear (similar to neutral) and displays an error requiring the driver to shift into drive and then back into gear. It does this all the time, sometimes placing me in compromised situations in an intersection.
While driving at low speed in city street, the Sterring wheel became very hard, and error display showed failure, stoped at red ligth and turned truck of on, problema got worse, was not able to drive, with many errors called dealership as I was 2 blocks away, came and helped take truck to dealership and after eview they stated that the issue was battery and all programing lost. 2 months after problem happen again this time only the steering became hard, problem was on off for a pair of days, taken to deaershipl and they advised that the issue was the Pinon and rack assembly(gear) but stated that warranty was out, I find this irresponsible as there was a recall for same year but limited to 200 cars, recall 19V 812, the problem I have is the same, this is a risk since you lose direction control.with out any warning, Dodge should be responsible for this and actually assure that they have fixed the issue with this component, I do not feel secure and repair has a very high cost about 4k dolars
Was in a head on collision going 40-45 mph. Hit a guard rail head on and airbags did not deploy
The transmission shifts extremely rough mainly when in traffic. There are times that you try to accelerate but the truck doesn’t shift fast enough or correctly. The dealership said it was a software update but it didn’t fix the problem.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, a message indicating that the power steering was off was displayed temporarily. Additionally, the contact stated that while her son was driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost power steering functionality, and the steering wheel was pulling to the left. The contact stated that the failure had occurred with oncoming traffic, nearly causing a crash. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently while driving at slow speeds. The contact stated that each time the failure occurred, her son pulled to the side of the road, turned off and restarted the vehicle, and waited until the power steering became functional. The contact's son then continued driving; however, the failure recurred intermittently while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering rack assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,900.
Large amounts of water enters the cab from a defective rear backlite assembly. Damage sustained to the rear seat fabric, cushion and carpeting. Concern for mold and mildew (health hazard). There is a pending class action lawsuit for the leaking issue. Dodge has extended the warranty on the Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (3rd brake light). The rear backlite assembly has been replaced by the local Dodge dealer at the cost of $1485.40. Dodge is well aware of water entering the cab not only from the 3rd brake light but also the rear backlite assembly and the roof mounted antennae.
My [XXX] son was driving his Ram 1500 on a country road and the he started hearing a clunking noise and his tires locked up. Luckily he is experienced in driving bigger vehicles and was able to control the vehicle to not wreck it. We had his vehicle towed to repair shop. Less than a day later the repair shop called to tell us that the vehicles transmission needed to be replaced as well as the rear differential. He said the rear diff issue is what caused the transmission to go out. Ive contacted multiple dealerships in hopes to have this replaced for free of charge since Ram had a recall with this same issue. But since the trucks Vin number isn't under the recall they denied the claim. I feel its unfair of a owner of a vehicle that literally has the same issues as a recall within the same year of the recall but can't get compensation for the repairs. Both repairs ended up totaling over $10,000. This truck only had 69,000 miles. NHTSA Campaign ID : 18V556000 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stop sign, the message to “Shift to Park to Proceed” warning light illuminated. The contact stopped the vehicle and shifted the gear shifter into park. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while driving in traffic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
The 8.4 infotainment screen became stuck either the rear view camera on not allowing you to change it or exit out. This stayed on during the drive and even after attempting to power cycle the screen. No buttons for climate or radio functioned and there was no way to turn the screen off or exit the rear view camera mode cause a distraction for the driver and could possibly lead a driver to believe the vehicle was still in reverse.
2 and a half weeks ago I took in my 2019 Ram 1500 to my nearby Dodge dealership for my battery packet to be replaced for a non-communication error. Which resulted in low battery and making the truck struggle to start. I picked up my vehicle last week and been driving it without issues until I took a trip to Cleveland to see my family for thanksgiving. During the drive down with my wife and my two dogs for thanksgiving to see the family, I had partial loss of my power steering. On the highway my power steering light would come on with a notification stating “Power steering unavailable service required” and continued to come on randomly. Resulting in me losing power steering between 1-5 seconds due to it being thanksgiving I continued the drive to my grandmother house. My wife and I was able to make it without any accidents. The next day the same issue continued partially losing power steering for 1-5. We made the trip back to my local dealer however the vehicle was not safe to drive. We could have easily been in an accident due to it being so difficult to turn the wheel when I loss power steering. My dealer has not yet determined the reason for this issue at this time.
The incident was the seat belt indicator light came on while driving. Brought it to the dealership and they determined the control module under the driver’s seat needed replacement. I was told the air bags would not deploy if I got into an accident. Not sure other owners have had the same problem. I have read on line that there are numerous rear window leak issues which accumulate water on the floor that could interfere with the control module. It would be nice if ram would investigate the situation to determine if the control module acted on itself or water from the window leak contributed to the malfunction. To date both the rear window and control module has been replaced.
I am not sure if this issue is electrical or suspension or even computer related. My car battery was dead after just driving it a few hours ago. I came out and heard a noise coming from the truck that sounded strange coming from under the hood, like something was trying to start or like a long delayed switching sound or airpump (I'm not sure). When starting the vehicle it only clicked and the battery showed low, the air suspension, airbags, safety systems and a lot more all lit up on my dashboard. I do have a video but on my cell phone not the computer from which I am writing this and it is too large of a file size for here. I placed the batter on a charger and it took a very long time to get enough of a charge but still wouldn't start. I had to get mad and keep pressing the start button and letting go on and off and on and off before it eventually started. I have not experienced this issue since but it was concerning to me that all the suspension, leveling, safety, headlight directional systems, etc. had errors flashing or cycling on the dash to be serviced and it killed my battery by having components activating audibly so and just disappear.
My truck got hit in the front right, including the front right wheel that had a fairly high impact, alloy wheel is bent in one section (see attached photo). After that impact I was not able to steer or apply the breaks. The steering wheel would not move either direction no mater how much force I applied. On top of that, the brake pedal was rock solid and no matter how much force I applied, I could not get the truck to slow down. So I was a passenger and had no control over the truck. We ended up hitting a car parked on the right side of the road (front right wheel was deformed and kept pulling us to the right instead of going straight). After the truck was towed, the people in the tow yard started the truck up and were able to drive it and use the steering and the brakes. So the problem I experienced after the initial hit was not permanent. Is it too much to expect the steering and the brakes to work after a hit to the front right wheel?
