My power steering is not functioning properly. I have to let my truck warm up for an extended amount of time otherwise it doesn't function. There is a malfunction indicator light that comes in and tells me the power steering needs serviced. Sometimes, even after 30 minutes of warming up, it still doesn't work. I have had it cut out and stop working while I'm driving and been forced to drive it without the power steering working. There is no indication when it will cut on or shut off. It has abruptly started working in the middle of driving and nearly caused me to be in several accidents and almost caused me to run off the road twice. This is a known issue by the manufacturer for the same year, make and model as mine, but for some reason I'm told my vehicle is not included in the recall. This is the only vehicle my family has at the moment and this is dangerous and scary. My vehicle should be included in the recall. I cannot afford this repair on my own right now.
The truck has problems with electrical on and off. Today because driver assistance sensors did not work I got into a wreck.
On Jan 2nd 2023 I just left the grocery store with my youngest daughter and heading home. While on the freeway my 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie stopped accelerating even with my foot on the gas and my head lights shut off and dash lights were flickering and I lost complete power while making it to the next exit barely able to turn the wheel since no power steering was available and we made it about half way up the ramp and stalled completely. Yes I said up the off ramp and check the date it was SNOWING! WITH MY CHILD IN THE TRUCK. No power, no hazard lights NOTHING to keep us from getting hit. I was able to get it jumped went bought a AGM battery and by the time I drove back home which is about 2 miles the new BATTERY WAS DEAD. Bring it to the dealership after checking (voltages and that the battery can be and hold charge my OBD read only power drain with the battery and Engine dash lights illuminated. Can charge the battery and I would get about 45-60 min of driving because the battery wasn't being charged). I tell them it's the exact description of campaign (V87) 1. System unable to charge battery. 2. Losing power to everything. (Which could have killed us). 3. Only the battery and Engine lights are illuminated. This point to the MGU not working properly. However dealer ship told me it's not even close to that so I excuse them and asked them to repeat that and they said it was the 48v battery that went bad while quoting me $3,700.00 for the repair indicating it was out of warranty. With the age of these batteries die this soon on the E-torque systems that means EVERYONE WILL BE SPENDING AN AVERAGE OF $6,000-$9,000 EXTRA ON THE 48V BATTERY You need to do whats right and have this recalled immediately before someone has to die or worse a child dies.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at slower speeds and attempting to accelerate, the transmission would erroneously shift to neutral with the message "Shift to park(P) and back to drive(D)" was displayed. After shifting to the park and back to the drive, the vehicle operated normally. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,000.
Electrical System - Instrument Panel. The instrument cluster does not properly illuminate driver warnings. There is a current recall V83. My vehicle has this exact issue, but my VIN manufacture date did not fall within the recall manufacture dates, but it should have. Chrysler wants me to take the vehicle to a dealer for diagnosis, and pay almost $200.00 for it, to confirm that the instrument panel does not light up. Should not be necessary. There are no safety warnings being displayed because the display was what was recalled.
This is a known issue with the hemi motor. Dodge, still to this day, have not done a recall. My truck had 80,000 miles when the exhaust manifolds bolts were broken off due to warping. Dealership for whatever reason only replaced the gasket and the bolts but I have to go back again for the same exact reason. They will probably replace the manifolds this time.
Rear window assembly is leaking water into the interior when it rains or going through car wash.
Trucks guage cluster LCD display information center located behind the steering wheel, does not illuminate, and or work at all anymore. I cannot see warnings, issues with the truck, cautions, information, mileage, use the safety systems included with the truck, use automatic park assist, and know if the air bag system is functioning correctly. Anything that the screen is required for cannot be used, safety systems included. I cannot monitor vehicle temperatures, vehicle hours, or trip miles.. The analog guages work, but that is all. This is a huge safety issue and this should not be an issue. Current mileage is 57,589. The vehicle has been inspected by a certified ram dealer and they have told me I must replace the cluster since i am out of warrenty. The issue the ram dealer recognized as 'cluster internally failed' and must be completely replaced since the cluster is one unit, and the electronics are internal. There has been an individual recall issued for ONLY ONE 5th Generation 2019 Ram Limitied in regaurds to the cluster failure back in 2019. Ram cares says I am not covered. Why mine is not covered does not make sense to me. This is absolutely a safety concern, this is absolutely a danger not having access to any safety systems or information about the vehicle/truck, tire pressure, engine and trans temp, and everything mentioned above.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the power steering assist failed to operate while starting the vehicle. The "Power Steering Unavailable - Service Required" message was displayed on the instrument panel. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but offered no assistance. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) which was linked to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
I have had to have the exhaust manifold replaced on both the driver side and passenger side of the dealer. From talking to the dealer this is a common occurrence from the factory where the manifold warps and cracks breaking bolts off in the block and causing exhaust leaks and noise. Both of these occured with less than 72000 miles on the truck and within a month of each other. The safety concern is the resulting exhaust leak that could occur in the cabin of the vehicle and could harm those inside.
The back window is leaking water. Possibly from 3rd brake light or the back window seal. Dealership said factory warranty has expired but have extended warranty on it. They won't cover the replacement window seal because they deemed it has routine maintenance. Back seat and floor are soaked. Truck is 4 years old. They want me to pay for all the repairs. From my understanding this year and model of truck had numerous complaints about this issue for years.
The plastic cover for the fuel line and power cables on the underbelly of the vehicle came loose and drags down the road, exposing the fuel lines in the power connections. The clips that hold the cover in place to prevent the lines from getting struck by road debris failed. Could cause failure to fuel system and other components.
My sunroof exploded and sprayed shards of glass all over the inside of of the truck and passengers.
Our defrost system on windshield is only working on one side. First things first, the Vin number and the picture listed does not match our vehicle so I will be calling the the safety line to get it fixed. When googling the Dodge recalls. It popped up as a recall but I guess it’s not on our vin number dodge yet? Then the truck automatically started smelling like antifreeze. When driving it sometimes loses power to the gas pedal and starts to slow down! The back windshield started leaking the same day as the defrost malfunction. There is no dash signal when there’s low air in tires….. And depending on speed of the dodge started making like dying whale moaning sounds. When turning the truck off, it stops for a minute, but then it starts again. This truck only has 50,000 miles on it and it should not be tearing up this quick as it is. When pushing the push start on and off, it always goes into a cc mode instead of turning off Last but not least the gas tank is malfunctioning when you put the gas pump into the tank I think the gas is leaking out and you have to constantly reset the gas pump handle. Also, the tailgate is getting stuck and you cannot open it. I’m afraid it’s going to come open when driving. Thank you for your time. Hope to speak with you soon. I have a 2019 Ram four-door with approx. 44k miles. I bought it brand new and have never been in an accident. I was coming to a stop light that turned green as I approached so I was slowing down, but when I accelerated, the truck dings at me, gives me the error code "Shift to P then Desired Gear" and shifts itself into neutral. I had to come to a stop, then put it back into Drive and continue driving.
2 Issues to go over: 1.) The rear defroster. My defroster has failed on me twice. First time I had it repaired, second time they were going to charge me the same amount for the same failure. I had it repaired by my local auto shop, So it has not been touched by a manufacturer technitian. No warning to it at all. I only noticed it once I had ice covering my rear window and could not defrost, elimitating any center rear view completetly. 2.) The Main issue is the side view mirrors. They are automatic mirrors with a button on the interior to open and close them. From what the Dealership has told me is they use plastic gears to control the mirror operation. And they tend to get stripped out, this happens so often that there is a 6 month backorder on these parts. The safety issue arrises when I am driving down the road at either highway speeds or if there are large wind gusts, my side view mirror will close on me, because those gears holding the mirror in place has stripped so it just closes due to wind pressure. I have to stop the car, get our and reposition the mirror or else I have no visibility from the side view mirror that closes. This is a massive safety risk as I am unable to see to the left OR right of me if my mirror collapses shut. And the fact that this happens to so many vehicle that I cant get the parts to fix it for at least six months in unnacceptable.
4WD electrical issue. Ram knows it’s a computer issue, but bandaids it every time until it happens again. Basically, the internal computer thinks it can’t use 4WD and only lets you use 2WD.
Purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 used, with 43k miles earlier this year. Twice, the trucks computer, and fuel gage said I had more then a quarter tank let in fuel. Twice, I have run completely out of gas, stalling the truck, and left no way to accelerate. Almost causing an accident.
The rear glass develops a leaks after a year or two due to the glass sealant failing and water freezing in the crevices and cracking the plastic frame attached to the glass. This causes water to enter the cabin in a rain and wet the carpet. The leak if unnoticed, causes mold to develop on the carpet/headliner, which is a safety/health issue.
2019 Ram 1500 Limited with 48,000 miles the rear window started leaking badly. The rear seat back and hybrid battery pack get wet whenever it rains. On 12/23/2022 had truck inspected by Safe Lite glass shop in Wilmington NC. Confirmed the rear plastic window frame cracked causing the leak. Estimate to fix $1000.00 On 12/28.2022 went to Hendricks Ram in Wilmington NC to have truck inspected. Service advisor [XXX] confirmed the rear window plastic frame cracked and leaking. He advised the Ram refuses to pay for the design defect. Estimate $1035.00. See attached estimate. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle intermittently failed to start. Additionally, the steering wheel made an abnormal sound while driving. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
This happens randomly while driving. While driving the vehicle,The Drive indicator around the shift knob will blink and The instrument panel will also display the message "Shift to P then Desired Gear". In this time, the engine remains running and the transmission enters a neutral state. When pressing the gas pedal, the engine revs and vehicle will not move. The vehicle has to be stopped, shifted into park, then back to drive. This has happened many many times since owning the vehicle. Photos attached below are while stopped. I also have video but it will not allow me to attach.
STEERING STICKS WHEN GOING TO THE LEFT AT 35 MPH AND UP. STICKS AT 10-11 OCLOCK POSITION AND MUST BE FORCEFULLY RETURNED TO CENTER CAUSING VEHICLE TO JERK. OVER AND UNDER STEER HAS TO BE CONSTANTLY MANAGED AND IS DANGEROUS. HAS CAUSED ME TO CROSS YELLOW LINE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after the vehicle was started, all the windows were wet. The contact then stated that while attempting to turn on the defogger, there was a ticking sound. The contact stated that she noticed water was leaking on the inside of the rear window. As a result, the condensation caused the rear seats to remain wet. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
Difficulties fueling vehicle. Gas pump consistently shuts off after a few (2-3) seconds of pumping gas. Bought vehicle used, have filled up 3 times in 1 month and have had issues with 2 of the full ups.
Water leak intrusion from rear lights over back window causing electrical issue with back side windows working properly. The windows role down when raining. Water also runs inside the vehicle and collects under the rear seating causing dampness and a Mildew smell.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the passenger side dashboard had started to delaminate; over time, the delamination began to spread to the driver side. The contact stated that a crack had formed over passenger side dashboard and expressed concern that the delamination may cause the air bags to not deploy in the event of a crash. The dealer noticed the failure on his last visit and an appointment was made to inspect the failure The manufacturer was notified of the failure and he was given a case number. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle slipped out of gear and slipped into neutral(N). While making a turn, the engine revved and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle was uncontrollable. The contact was able to coast off the roadway. The gear selector indicator light was blinking. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
Broken exhaust manifold bolt warped the exhaust manifolds. Exhaust fumes can enter the engine compartment using the recirculation button. This is a known Hemi issue for years
Leak in third brake like that and/or from rear vents. MANY other complaints online of same issue. Allowing water in causes mold and possible breathing issues.
The AC was stuck on hot and would not defrost. Dealership said the blend actuator door needed replacement. Unfortunately this cost is 1700. In addition to this, the fuel line or gas tank keep clicking and stopping when trying to fill. This has been intermittent since we purchased vehicle. In addition, our infotainment center was hacked, someone was changing our settings repeatedly. Dealership refused to fix
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced the failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Vehicle engine shuts off while driving and engages auto-breaking feature. First occurrence was at steady 35 miles an hour, engine shuts off suddenly and no warning lights/codes are displayed and the emergency auto-breaking feature kicked in before I guided vehicle off the road to a complete stop with a delivery truck behind me almost rearing ending. I confirmed gas and oil levels are within range, checked TIPM fuses and none were loose or backing out, key fob battery replaced within last year. The next day the vehicle will start and immediately shut off, no warning lights or codes on the display. Looking online this appears to be an issue many owners are experiencing with no recall or definitive answer from FCA and is creating extremely dangerous situations. I have videos of the vehicle starting and shutting off unexpectedly. Occurred on 11/29/22, appointment with dealer is scheduled on 12/8/22 so no additional root cause information.
I have been experiancing power steering failure on my 2019 Ram 1500 (21,000 miles) vehicle at random times since the end of November 2022. On 12/13/22 it was dropped at a Dodge dealership in Queens NY where they had my vehicle for seven days and I was told it was because of my battery and they installed and charged me for a new one. That was some help but it did not resolve the problem completly and it continued to happen all though less frequently and with time it progressively got worse. On Febuary 14, 2023 I droppped the vehicle at a Dodge dealership in Nanuet NY and there diagnosis was the steering box needed replacement at a cost of $3600.00. The vehicle was brought back to the Queens dealership (this is the area where I work and is more convienant for me) and the steering box was replaced to NO AVAIL, the problem still exists. To say the least I am putting myself and other motorist on the road in EXTREME danger because when that electronic steering goes out it is near impossible to steer this vehicle and I have no other options to get to and from work. So $4000. plus and no one can resolve this issue and I reached out to Chrysler Corporate and they are basicly telling me to bring it back to the dealership for help, which I have done on three occasions and I have gotten NO WHERE.
crankshaft retainer and seal kit is leaking oil.
The rear window frame has cracked with under 33,000 miles on the truck. The crack occurred prior to my purchase of the vehicle. The crack has allowed water to enter the rear of the vehicle and potentially damage/interfere with various electronic systems and cause odors/mold. This water intrusions has caused some of these vehicles to no longer operate. The vehicle is available for inspection. It has not been inspected by a dealership to my knowledge (recently purchased used). This issue has not activated any sort of warning lights and was discovered luckily by accident, so I have been able to take some action to attempt to mitigate this issue. These mitigation steps are in no way permanent solutions for this issue.
While driving, the truck lost power steering and the EPS light came on.
My rear window or antenna shark fin is allowing water to leak into the truck cabin above the rear window. The ceiling is wet above the rear window. The ceiling is wet around the airbag cover. What guarantee is there the water has not damaged the airbags or other electrical components. I am now worried the airbags could be damaged and not work properly putting my family at risk of injury if we are in an accident.
I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic 3.6L Pentastar that I was driving home in from being out of town, and as soon as I got back in town I started getting the smell of burning oil coming through my AC vents when I would stop. I assumed it was a car nearby, but once I stopped at my house the smell came back. The next morning I went outside and there were a few drops of oil under the truck, so I looked underneath and the transmission pan cover underneath my truck was covered in oil. I couldn’t figure out where the oil was coming from, so I took the truck to my mechanic. They took a look at it and saw that the leak was coming from my oil housing assembly, and oil would run to the back of my engine then spill down over the transmission’s bell cover and drip off the transmission pan cover. This mechanic is not a large mechanic by any means, and they said that they usually get 20-30 of these same trucks every year with the same exact problem: a leak coming from the oil housing assembly. They said that it happens because the manufacturer cut corners when making this part, and after 60-90k miles it will give out due to the heat coming off the engine. They also said that the manufacturer and dealers will try to blame it on the consumer stating they over torque the filter when replacing it, but that is not the case at all. It is the quality of the oil filter housing that is the issue, and the manufacturer needs to improve the quality of the part and do a recall for this part. My truck was just over 80k miles when this occurred a few days ago, and the mechanic was not able to get an aluminum aftermarket version of this part, so I’ll have another 60-90k miles before I have to drop another thousand on this part. Please fix this issue and issue a recall.
I have had my Dodge Ram 1500 in the shop from November 2022 through September 2023 five different times for defective camshafts vvt solenoids oil control valves. Issues still persist due to faulty machined parts from the manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the power steering became inoperable, almost causing the vehicle to drive off the roadway. The check power steering message was displayed. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V812000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
BOTH FRONT AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. RECURRING REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND WHILE TRYING TO STEER. LOUD VIBRATION AND WHINING NOISE. REAR DIFFERENTIAL BEARINGS WERE REPLACED AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAS FAILED.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Seat are stitching are coming off vehicle. Reddit and a lot of Ram groups have state concern do this. Manifold bolts break ad tend to melt because of truck heat.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the power steering assist failed to operate with an unknown red warning light intermittently illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where he was informed that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V020000 (Steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Engine stopped running while driving on an active road due to fuel pump failures (only 26,000 miles). Truck will not start any longer and fuel pumps are on national back order.
My power steering stopped working when I was driving on a highway. My safety was put at risk when suddenly it was very difficult and almost impossible to control the direction of travel of my truck. The problem was confirmed by Tomball Dodge in Tomball, Texas. The gear-rack and pinion was inspected by Tomball Dodge and they determined that it needed to be replaced. The charge for the repair was approximately $4,000.00 which included a mandatory wheel alignment. I received various warning lamps and messages in November of 2022 when the mileage was a little over 14,000 but if I turned off the engine and restarted it there would be no message or warning lamp on the dash. I called Auto Nation where I purchased the truck to try and make an appointment and they advised they were extremely busy and it would take at least 5-7 days to diagnose the problem. They said it sounded like a software issue and was not anything requiring immediate attention.
Went for routine maintenance and was told a front axle shaft retainer clip had failed allowing axle to move away from differential. This was at the Dodge RAM dealer. Car is a 2019. I called to speak to Dodge representative and was told this was a recall issue but not for my VIN. I find it hard to believe that this failure on a 3 year old truck would not be due to a similar issue.
I was pulling out of my work parking lot and right as soon as I’m trying to make the turn out of the parking lot my steering wheel would not turn. Thank God I was still in the parking lot, but I was not able to move my steering wheel at all, the dealer said that it was a full painting rack failure in the steering column itself along with the power steering. I have to get my whole fuse and everything replaced, including the whole front end pin rack.
There is a known problem with ram headlights developing condensation within the headlight assembly. This is a problem as too much condensation can cause shorts and/or permanent damage to electronics. With standard halogen bulbs, the worst case is to replace the bulb and try to remove moisture and prevent future condensation build up. The problem with led lights, and especially pourly designed headlights with led modules on the underside so any moisture falls into the module and ruins it. This is a major saftey concern as your headlights can go out at anytime without warning and potentially cause both to go out at similarly times as condensation build up is a factor of the weather. Furthermore, with the led headlight module being on bottom of the headlight where the moisture build up is strongest, it shorts out the module so you loose all lights within the headlight. This is extremely dangerous for all vehicles and pedestrians in the area as all lights can go out without warning, likely resulting in a wreck. This issue has been brought to ram before, you can easily find many forums of ram owners having this issue. A few people have had their headlights replaced by ram, but the majority of people have not. Also, the people who have had their headlights replaced, received the same headlights as factory lights, so they may have the same issues in the future.
