I started smelling coolant inside the cabin of my 2021 RAM 1500 at approximately 49000 miles. I'm the original owner. After waiting for over a month before the dealership could look at my truck, I was told my heater core needed replaced at a cost of $2369.52 and charged a diagnostic fee of $201.49. Because the basic warranty had expired, and the truck is less than 3 years old, I called Chrysler Customer Care for assistance. They opened case number 87011413, and was assigned a case manager. I was told I would be contacted in 1 to 2 business days. It has been 3 weeks, and I still haven't heard from the case manager. I tried calling Customer Care several times but I only get voice mail.
MY 2021 RAM 1500 IS LEAKING WATER INTO THE CAB COMPARTMENT. EVERYTIME IT RAINS I GET A SOAKING WET FLOOR IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK AND THE TRUCK FILLS UP WITH MOISTURE. IT IS VERY SMELLY AND I CAN SEE EXACTLY WHERE THE TRUCK IS LEAKING. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A LAWSUIT GOING ON FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS. DOES THIS FALL OUT UNDER THE LEMON LAW AS MY TRUCK IS ALMOST UNUSABLE NOW BECAUSE OF THE MILDEW SMELL THROUGHOUT THE TRUCK.
While driving at highway speeds, the engine has stopped running 3 times in the past 60 days. There is no indication on the instrument panel for any cause or signs of trouble. All other electrical items appear to be fine. After coming to a complete stop, the engine will restart immediately. This could possibly be a fuel pump issue or computer issue. I do not suspect the fuel itself as the gas tank was not near empty and the vehicle had been refueled more than once between the first and second occurrence of this problem. The second and third occurrence happened on the same day, during the same trip. Every time, I made a conscious act to look at the dashboard for any indication of the cause or any check engine light. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for service. Approximate mileage 33,000
My truck has shut down unexpectedly, on 2 separate occasions, as I was driving at slow speeds. I then had to come to a complete stop and restart it.
Another issues with this truck and ram needs to do a recall! Besides shutting off now I have major suspension issues! I have gotten an alignment pretty much every other month. Been through three sets of tires due to this suspension issue. Truck is maintained and has always been to dealer.
The Auto Stop / Start system continues to malfunction. This occurs while the vehicle is in operation and is intermittent. The dealer serviced this issue a couple of times, and replaced the PCM but the issue continues to be intermittent.
Exhaust manifolds on both sides cracked and need replacing. Started about a year ago from this date. Dealer informed my mechanic they are seeing about 1400 units replaced a month.
There is an exhaust leak out of both exhaust manifolds. The gasket material is disintegrating and you can smell the fumes in the cab.
The contact owns a 2021 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the contact stated that the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated was able to restart the vehicle and drive to his destination. The contact stated that the failure had recurred four times within four months. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.
Motor decelerates and won't shift. when at a stop light I press the accelerator to gain speed an motor winds out but won't correct its self until I pull over turn the motor off and start the truck again. It happens every 1000 miles or so
Exhaust Concern. In July 2023, the left exhaust manifold cracked down whole manifold, mileage was 51,369. This was repaired under 60,000 miles Powertrain Warranty. In October 2023, the right exhaust manifold cracked down whole manifold and is scheduled for repair when parts arrive, mileage is 54,850. This will also be repaired under 60,000 miles Powertrain Warranty. There were no warnings, only that we were aware of the tapping sound from cold start on both sides of vehicle. After looking online, we realized that other Ram owners were reporting that this is a problem and believe this should be a recall with a permanent fix for the problem. With our warranty about to expire, we are concerned that the repairs are like a band-aid that if/when this happens again we will have to pay to have repaired.

The manufacturer was notified of the issue and confirmed that parts were unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The ball joint separated from the upper control arm on the front driver side while the vehicle was in motion in a parking lot. There has never been any abuse or misuse of the vehicle and it only has 31700 miles on it. This could have been much worse had this happened while traveling down the road at much higher speeds.

Exhaust manifolds are both cracked and leaking exhaust. I have to keep my air on recirculating to keep exhaust fumes out of the cab.
My 2021 Ram 1500 has an exhaust leak that has been leaking since June when I took it to the dealership, and they told me about the leak. They told me it would take 17 weeks before they could order my parts. Now my dealership has told me 6 to 8 months for parts. The exhaust is leaking into the vehicle and making my family and I sick and they tell me they can do nothing because there are so many truck with the same problem that they can't get parts. I hope you can help me with this.
2nd Time it has been taken to the shop for Timing cover oil leak, Environmental hazard and Oil on my Garage floor caused me to Fall while taking out the Trash. This was after I cleaned the Garage Floor after the first Leak. I did some research online and see that this is a CONTINUIOS PROBLEM with many other EcoDiesel Trucks. My Truck is under 18000 miles and has been repaired once and is currently in the Shop as of Today 5-18-2024 been a week so far.
The turn signal self-cancelling feature does not function properly. Specifically, the left hand turn signal does not disengage. This has become a safety risk as I am unaware that it does not disengage on some occasions. The vehicle has not been inspected by a dealer/manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2021 Ram 1500. The contact stated that message that the brakes needed to be serviced was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where several unknown repairs were performed; however, the failure recurred. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the recall repair was performed; however, the failure persisted. This morning, I was slowing down, foot on the brake because traffic was stopped in front of me. When I got to about 4 mph the truck wouldn’t stop, it kept going, although my foot was on the brake. I was getting close to the car in front of me so I pushed harder on the brake. When I did this, the truck stopped but the wheels keep turning. So, now I’m stopped and tires are spinning as if I’m doing a burnout. I put the truck in neutral, then to park. I put back into drive and was able to drive to work. My safety and everyone else’s safety around me is in danger now because next time, will my truck stop? Will I run into the back of someone because my truck won’t stop? I have contacted the dealer (Walt Massey) but waiting on a call back to speak with someone about this issue. About 5 weeks ago, similar incident occurred. The following week, my truck wouldn’t start so had to have it towed to dealership. Told them about the first incident and that the truck would not start. Was told the radio frequency hub needed replacing. Waited 3 weeks for the part to come in, finally came in and was installed, I picked up truck from dealership Thursday, May 4. I assumed the issue was resolved, after paying $830 to the dealership. I have a 2 year old, $70,000 truck with 43,000 miles (just out of warranty) on it and I’m terrified to drive it. There have been no warning lamps or messages on the truck.
For past month have been getting "service power steering" mssg when starting truck with no power steering..turn truck off it resets and all is fine. Yesterday 6/7/23 started truck now light stays 9n and have had intermittent loss at times with power steering called dealer and have appointment Wednesday 6/14/23 for recall issue and this problem at Shivley Motors in chambersburg PA. Have been reading forum about this issue and will update upon diagnosis from dealer. My vehicle has the electronic steering assist so there is no pump or fluid that I am able to check it is all incased in a gear box and seems that 2013 thru 2019 had recall for this issue. I am concerned of my loss of steering driving to myself and passengers. Dealer did not seem concerned which concerns me this writing is document.
The contact owns a 2021 Ram 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V767000 (Fuel System, Gasoline, Engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Dealer reporting leaking and water intrusion at rear window seal. Water intrusion causing significant water damage and mold. Water intrusion potentially disrupts vehicle BCM and other electrical components including airbag function, lighting controls, infotainment and navigation systems. Radio infotainment system has faulted, radio speakers crackling, guage clusters lights randomly illuminate. Mold significantly creating adverse health affect. Excessive moisture causing window fogging and visibility issues. Problem reproduced by Crown motors in Redding, CA.
While the truck was in Drive gear at a stop light took my foot off brake pedal and pressed the gas pedal. The truck did not do anything for a second or two then it jerked and stalled. This has happened several times. I called the dealer and they said its a known issue that they don't know how to fix yet. This issue is unsafe and dangerous.
When I turn left or right, I slow down to turn and when I accelerate after turning, the engine shuts down and the parking brake auto-engages. This has occurred twice in heavy traffic scenarios, endangering myself, my passengers, and the drivers behind me. According to blogs with posts of this same issue with other Ram 1500 owners, issue has not / cannot be reproduced due to its arbitrary nature of occurrence. There are no warning lamps or messages prior to the engine shutting off.
The rear camera occasionally shows a black screen. If I turn off/on the truck its still the same. If it stays off for more than an hour and then turned back on then sometimes the camera works but some times it still doesn't work. It's very scary backing up a truck without a camera. I feel very unsafe doing so. There is an active recall for this exact issue but my truck is not affected by this recall: NHTSA campaign number: 23V059. Ram’s own number for this recall is 14A. How can i get this safety problem fixed if my truck ks not affected by the recall. Thanks.
While driving I slowed down to make a left turn the truck shut down and safe hold temporarily disable message appeared. I had to wait to come to a complete stop and put the truck in drive and disengage the emergency brake. This has been happening frequently.
I purchased a 2021 RAM Big Horn truck for 58k. At 33k miles both exhaust manifolds cracked causing the cab of the truck to fill with exhaust! This exhaust causes me headaches. This exhaust leak also pours into our environment causing a hazard to others. I took the vehicle to Dodge service who confirmed both manifolds are cracked and exhaust is getting into cab if truck. This is under warranty however there are no parts to fix the issue. Dodge should be compelled to buy back these vehicles as they are a hazard in numerous ways.
In the last week, truck shut down in the middle of acceleration in the middle of an intersection. All truck electronics shut down completely for 30 min, even the ability to lock and unlock vehicle. Today, while going 49 miles an hour, the breaks and steering shut down completely for several minutes.
I had issues with the electrical systems on various occasions. There were times when the vehicle shut down in middle of driving while other times some functions such as keyless entry or auto braking didn't work. I took the vehicle to the dealership on 3 separate occasions and they said that they could not recreate the issues but rewired the system. I still had issues and was told that as long as the engine light is not blinking it is safe to drive. On 4/11/2023 while driving full speed on the highway, the electrical system stopped and i lost brakes and steering. This caused me to crash into the car in front of me. In addition, the auto braking did not engage and the airbags did not deploy
Exhaust bolts failed on two separate occasions. I'm concerned that this will lead to an accident if parts of the exhaust system come apart and make contact with the road. The parts have been replaced (twice) and I've contacted the manufacturer who seems to have little concern at this time
#3 & #5 fuel injector failing while driving, separate instances, 2 months apart, causing severe loss of power and inability to control speed
Driving through town on my way home from work, the instrument cluster display went black and gauges died. I have no access to fuel level, engine temps, speedometer, rpm's, warning indicators, etc. Have to take it in to dealer for a multi-day diagnosis and hopefully free repair. 2two year old vehicle with only 25k miles.
There is some kinda leak or condensation problem inside the cab of the pick up. It causes mold and mildew on around the front passenger seat. I have respiratory problems and it is very difficult for me to breathe when the truck has been stationary for a few days or when I have all the windows rolled up. There are visible spots of mold or mildew on the passenger side carpet and on the back seat.
The fog lights on the vehicle stop working while I was driving at night in a not well lit area. After they stop working I went to get an oil change and was told I was unable to get an oil change and the water pump was leaking. The tech stated it was unsafe and dangerous.
We lease a 2021 Ram. For the past year our truck will randomly stall when making a turn and pushing the gas. It shuts off, puts the vehicle in park, and engages the emergency brake when pulling out into traffic. We have brought it in to the dealership we got it from, letting them know that this is a huge safety concern especially if pulling out into busy traffic which is something we have to do on a daily basis. They said since they cannot replicate the issue there is nothing to fix. Our truck continues to stall and we use it not only for transport of our family but for hauling horse trailers - making it even more dangerous. We need a resolution as this puts us at risk and is very stressful, changing how we drive because we are afraid to pull out in certain situations.
At any rate of speed the vehicle stalls and looses power with no warning. No check engine lights or any indicator comes on until the vehicle is already in stall position.
Vehicle would not shift from 1st gear when starting off. Had to pull of to the shoulder to turn off the vehicle and restart. Said "service transmission" and check engine light lit.
Vehicle stalls with no warning while driving
The contact owns a 2021 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 72 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. The contact was able to pull over on the side of the road safely and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle momentarily started operating normally, but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated no failure was found but the mechanic suggested that the ignition system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 36,000.
I was driving and went to back up and found the tailgate down. I had had it in the shop for a recall of the tailgate. Took it back to dealer and was told my tonneau cover was the reason. I disagree as when I shut it it was latched and flush. There is no alarm indicating the tailgate down and the contents potentially falling out. There should be some alarm to indicate the tailgate is open, just like when a car door is open.
I have had two incidents where shortly after a cold start while driving the vehicle it would turn off and and the emergency brake would apply. In both instances I was approximately a mile from where the vehicle was started. I had slowed to make a right turn, upon completion of the turn driving under 20 MPH the vehicle's engine would turn off, I was able to coast to a stop and then the vehicle's emergency brake would engage. When this happens the operator is forced to come to a complete stop, shift to park (in order to restart) and disengage the emergency brake. 2021 Ram 1500 Laramie eTorque 12K miles
I was driving the vehicle about five miles-per-hour and came to a stop sign, then came to a full stop. I then proceeded to make a right turn and was driving straight for about one-quarter of a mile at a speed of about five to ten miles-per-hour. Next, I slowed the vehicle down and made a right turn. The vehicle then completely stalled and turned completely off. The engine stopped, all of the meters on the dashboard turned completely off and the entire car and all electronics were completely off without warning. It was a random shutdown, there were no warning lights and no engine warning light or anything. Immediately after the vehicle turned off, I put my foot on the brake, then I had to put the vehicle in park, and then I had to restart the vehicle by pushing the "start engine" button. My safety, the passengers safety, other cars safety was put at risk because the vehicle could have stopped anywhere at any time without warning and completely turned off. There could have been a vehicle close behind me that could have caused death to passengers of my vehicle or other vehicles. The dealer confirmed that this is an issue and there is supposed to be an update for the computer on the Etorque engine. The dealer inspected the vehicle, and ran a computer update on the engine. However, the service manager said that they could not guarantee that it would not happen again. There were no warning lamps, no messages, no symptoms to indicate that this was going to occur. It was completely random with no warning. The components that malfunctioned are the E-Torque Engine and the computer. I immediately traded the vehicle in for a completely different brand. I do not want do die due to this vehicle malfunction.
Bed separated due to improper weld. Caused gap large enough that a ratchet strap was able to pass through due to air flow and melted to hot exhausts located directly below.
