Our 2012 RAM 2500 truck with 135k miles, had it's fuel tank fail. The dealership in Oak Ridge, TN tested the vehicle and found that the gas tank tubes were broken causing us to not be able to fill the tank. The dealership recommended "NEED TO REPLACE GAS TANK". Mopar aka Stellantis does not make the fuel tank anymore, the "replacement" fuel tank does not work (completely wrong configuration), there is not an aftermarket tank. We have a Million Mile bumper to bumper warranty with MOPAR. "Customer Care" does not care.

THE CONTACT USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LANDERS CHEVROLET OF NORMAN (1221 ED NOBLE PKWY, NORMAN, OK 73072, 405-321-7021), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS UNAWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V635000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING, FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL), 15V459000 (AIR BAGS) ,AND 17V821000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
EXCESSIVE FUEL CONSUMPTION..LESS THAN 10MPG, HIGH OPERATING TEMPERATURE, POWER/PERFORMANCE WITH/ WITHOUT. MODERATE TOWING LOADS. HIGH TEMPERATURES ASSOCIATED WITH ELEVATIONS IN EXCESS OF 4OOO FEET. FREQUENT ENGINE LIGHT APPEARANCE.
WHEN ACCELARATING, FROM A STOP ESPECIALLY, THE THROTTLE INTERMITANTLY WILL GIVE AN ALMOST DEAD RESPONSE. IT CAN BE PRESSED ALL OF THE WAY DOWN TO WIDE OPEN AND IT SLOWELY DEVELOPES POWER AND DOES NOT REACH FULL POWER UNTILL AFTER THE 1, 2 SHIFT. IT IS DANGEROUS AND IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. NO MIL LIGHT NOR TROIBLE CODES ARE PRESENT.
I HAVE TWO RECALLS FOR THE FUEL HEATER SHORTING OUT AND POSSIBLE FIRE. I CALL DODGE TO GET IT FIXED AND THEY TELL ME THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. IF THEY CAN'T FIX MY TRUCK I WANT ONE THAT ME AND MY FAMILY CAN DRIVE AND FEEL SAFE IN.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN EARLY DECEMBER 2014 STATING THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH A DIESEL FUEL HEATER ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ON MY TRUCK THAT MAY LEAD TO O-RING FAILURE AND POTENTIAL FIRE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER TWICE AND AS OF LAST CONTACT THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN A "FIX" MIGHT BE AVAILABLE. SINCE POSSIBLE FIRE IS THE RISK AND THE DEALER, INITIALLY, DID NOT EVEN KNOW THEY WAS/IS A RECALL, I AM CONCERNED. THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT CHRYSLER SINCE THE DEALER KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT. SINCE I WAS TALKING WITH THE CHRYSLER DEALER THAT I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM, I ASSUMED I WAS TALKING WITH CHRYSLER. IT HAS BEEN OVER A MONTH SINCE MY LAST CONTACT WITH THEM AND I HAVE HEARD NOTHING TO DATE. CAN YOU HELP OR PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, PLEASE.
I HAVE RECEIVED A NOTICE OF RECALL 2 TIMES SINCE DECEMBER 1,2014 FOR DIESEL FUEL HEATER ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND HAVE BEEN TO THE DODGE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF. THE DEALER STATES THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS. THIS HAS BEEN OVER 8 MONTHS NOW AND I AM NOW EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AS WELL AS WHAT APPEARS TO BE A STICKING THROTTLE AS I DRIVE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION AS THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN RELEASING THE THROTTLE. IT ALSO AT IDLE WILL INCREASE THE RPM ON IT'S OWN. UPDATE 9/15/15*CW THE FUEL HEATER WAS FIXED. THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WITH HIGH IDLE AND THE VEHICLE ONLY SLOWED DOWN WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THE HIGH IDLE AND CONSTANT INSTANCES OF FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN WAS A RECURRING PROBLEM AS WELL AS THE INABILITY TO OBTAIN INFORMATION FROM THE VEHICLES INFORMATION PORT STILL EXISTS. IN DECEMBER CHRYSLER MAILED AN "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" P65/NHTSA 14V-635. WHEN I CALLED MY LOCAL DODGE RAM DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO CORRECT THE SAFETY ISSUE, THEY TOLD ME THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. FOR MORE INFORMATION I WOULD HAVE TO CALL CHRYSLER. ON 12/26/14 I WAS TOLD BY CHRYSLER THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE APRIL 2015. ON MAY 1ST, I RECEIVED A SUBSEQUENT "IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL" P65/NHTSA 14V-635 FROM CHRYSLER, SO I CALLED MY LOCAL DOGE RAM DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE THE APPOINTMENT. I WAS TOLD AGAIN THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND I WOULD HAVE TO CALL CHRYSLER TO GET MORE INFORMATION. I DO NOT BELIEVE CHRYSLER IS TAKING THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL SERIOUSLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ALLOW THE PUMP TO REFUEL AND WOULD RESPOND AS IF THERE WERE A FULL TANK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THIS IS A CNG TRUCK WITH A 35 GAL GASOLINE TANK AND TWO 9 GAL CNG TANKS --- THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED TO SAVE FUEL MONEY BY USING PRIMARILY CNG THE TRUCK COMPUTER PROGRAM SWITCHES THE CNG TO USE GASOLINE TOO OFTEN .
