I have been trying for a year to get my recall performed. When I go to the dealer they say there is no parts available and I should contact FCA Recall Assistance. When I call FCA Recall Assistance they say parts are available and that I should try a different dealer. I have tried 3 dealerships and no one will fix the recall. I can't even register the vehicle because in California recalls need to be performed for registration. I do not know who else to turn to.
We bought our truck in November 22, 2022, used certified pre-owned with 22135 miles, On 12/27/2022 message code came on water in fuel tank. 12/29/2022 dealership service helped us to drain fuel filters and cleared the code. 12/30/2022 same code came back. 1/8/2023. Truck broke down with a major total fuel system damaged. Parts were ordered, but repairs did not start yet. Everyone is trying to say it is a user error. We refilled DEF liquid correctly after which the gage showed was almost full. Dealership was blaming bad diesel was used, but as a consumer how in the world will i know which brand or company: they all are governed to sell proper diesel. We only drove about 3000 miles. There's no way possible for such to happen. Dealership told us ok to drive and keep refilling fresh diesel. We learned that there was already a recall for fuel system back in September of 2022. Supposedly if diligently and correctly it was taken care of, this same problem should have not come back at least for the next 10000+ miles. We only put on about 3000 miles from the date of purchase. Also according to inspection of dealership and service history, they also replaced fuel filters in October of 2022. Truck broke down even before our first payment was to be due. Currently our truck is not drivable and we are in 7 yrs loan. Absolutely ridiculous. There must of been a hidden tank leak that caused fuel contamination. Dealership where our truck is confirmed DEF liquid was mixed with diesel gas and a corrosion around some parts. Please help us! This is a nightmare. Thank you so much in advance!
I’ve been waiting for a recall fix for the Y78 on my Ram Cummins. My dealer keeps saying they only get in a couple of the high pressure fuel pumps every few weeks. I’ve started the process back in December with no estimated wait time other than it will be many months before they fix it. I know many people who have but a direct replacement pump that will remedy the problem and have been reimbursed for parts and labor. My really helpful dealer this morning told me to contact NHTSA and file a complaint about how to go about the reimbursement process to get it fixed myself or provide me other options to get it fixed. Any help would be appreciated.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V880000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Front driver side seat belt does not retract/lock as it should. I'm worried for our safety if an accident occurs and the seatbelt does not hold driver in place. Has not been seen by dealer due to dealership wanting me to pay out of pocket. First started a few months back and has not resolved its self.
The dealer is taking forever to perform this recall, States I am on a list. it will take 2 years to get my truck in to get fixed. And chrysler will not reimburse for replacement if done outside dealer.
RE: "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or TTY: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with NHTSA. This recall was issued in November 2022. My local dealer, Carson Dodge in Carson City, Nevada, will not honor the recall and will not fix my vehicle. I have repeatedly asked for the repair and keep getting blown off, telling me I'm on an indefinite waiting list. I insisted once to confirm I am on the waiting list and where I am at. I was told my car would be repaired in February 2023. February came and went and they still refuse to repair the car or provide a date when the repair might be possible. The fuel pump has now failed and the car has been dead in my driveway for a week and a half. I am without my primary means of transportation to get to work. Calls and emails to the service manager at Carson Dodge have been ignored and unanswered. I am reaching out to you to request assistance. The dealer will not fix the car and will not communicate with me. The car is non-operational now and will have to be towed. I desperately need my vehicle and I am respectfully requesting assistance with a recalcitrant dealership.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the rear tailgate door had become extremely difficult to close and had erroneously opened while driving. Eventually the failure had become progressively worse, and the door would no longer close securely. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V904000 (Structure). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 10,000.
While towing a roughly 13k pound camper with my family from Texas to New York and back , I lost trailer brakes, traction control , cruise control and my trailer brakes. The trip included ice, rain, snow. We had a death in the family and the trip did not include the time to take to have this problem troubleshot. Literally one of the scariest trips ever through different elevations and traction levels. These would’ve all been just fine had the systems worked correctly. The truck only had 35,000 miles at the time. Of course by the end of this trip I was now out of warranty. ( so I think) I don’t know. With as common as this issue is , I don’t know what to do. I plan on keeping this truck but I do not anyone else drive it due to the safety concerns. As a combat veteran I’m used to doing sketchy stuff. But it’s not right. It’s dangerous. The issues continue intermittently and never when the diagnostic is available.
UNKNOWN. Truck will not start. Clicks, all warning lights come on, clicks, and nothing. Recall not performed as dealership states if they do the recall it will cause a complete engine failure.
TPMS system has stopped working and is not related to the sensors in the tires. All 4 sensors read with a handheld scanner but the system does not operate as it should. Dealership has checked the system and said the system is working as it should, yet the system is inoperable. This is a serious safety issue as anyone driving the vehicle will be unaware if there is a low tire and can lead to a blowout.
Y78 Fuel Pump in 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins is going out. Has see dealer warning. Ram is saying no parts available until next year. Not an acceptable remedy.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V880000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the next availability was in 6 months because they only received one part every 7-days. The contact contacted a second dealer, Nyle Maxwell Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram FIAT- Ram (3602 E Central Texas Expy, Killeen, TX 76543) who confirmed the information from the first dealer. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
Dealers in my area are refusing to do the Y78 recall on my vehicle
Issue with high pressure fuel pump and loss of turbo boost. At first Mopar/ Dodge refused to replace the fuel pump regardless of the recall. After hours on the phone they finally agreed to replace fuel pump but said no idea why turbo isn’t working correctly.
The contact owns a 2019 Ram 2500. The contact stated that on two separate occasions, the rear liftgate erroneously opened. The failure had occurred while driving and pulling a trailer and also while the vehicle was parked without the trailer being hauled. During the failure, body damage to the liftgate had occurred. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the electronic liftgate actuator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.
FCA recall Y78 NHTSA 21V-880 is open on my truck, states "fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause vehicle crash without prior warning" Contacted local dealer, was told no parts available contact FCA recall assistance. Was told there was nothing they could do, I am to drive my vehicle until parts are available despite my vehicle being unsafe for myself and other drivers. Refused to transfer me, then finally did transfer me to Delivin the highest supervisor at FCA recall dept. Was told same thing, drive until crash or until parts arrive. Was also advised I could pay for parts then get reimbursed (even though recall parts not available. Was told there was a separate department to call if I did get into a crash. Kept telling me to contact dealer. Finally, Devin hung up on me. Contacted dealer again was told nothing they could do, i should contact Chrysler corporate. Contacted corporate spoke to Nicolette she told me same thing, drive until crash or parts available. Told her I felt unsafe, vehicle was unsafe. She hung up on me. I called back, spoke to Laurie she was nice and helpful but nothing else she could do, said supervisor would call me back. This vehicle, as per the recall description, is unsafe and should not be driven. I have been told now by all FCA representatives that FCA wants me to continue to drive an unsafe vehicle. I have also been told I could "pay for the parts and get reimbursed" but that the recall parts were not available.
While traveling home with a toddler, the high pressure fuel pump failed. It left my vehicle with no power or ability to move under it’s own power. It flashed a brief warning and then shut off, with no ability to restart. It left myself and my child stranded on the side of a busy byway. The dealership has confirmed that the issue was the high pressure fuel pump. Their remedy (at the direction of Ram) is to replace all necessary components, but to wash the fuel tank (instead of replace) and to reinstall the same make and model of fuel pump, that is know to be faulty. The 2019’s have a recall with the only remedy being to replace with the original design. However, 2020 version (which are mechanically identical) also have a recall where they are being instructed to install an updated version of the high pressure fuel pump. This leaves me with faulty equipment that is known to be prone to failure, yet the 2020 versions are receiving a much better and not prone to failure solution.
Ram has ignored this recall NHTSA Recall#21v-880 /Y78 for the high pressure fuel pump in my 2019 Ram 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel on several occasions. i contacted my dealer and they said they would order the new pump and they can only be allocated 2 pumps a week if they can get one. my dealer called a few weeks later and said they have a pump for recall and scheduled me a time slot to bring ram in. i did and halfway through the day the service manager called and said they went to do the new pump recall and FCA/Ram noticed them to not install the new replacement pump and gave no reason. my service advisor he was not given a reason from FCA and he said for me to contact FCA directly. i did and they gave me the run around and could not answer why they had the new replacement pump and did not allow my dealer to install. i have been so frustrated to the run around i searched for FCA rams inner chain email format and sent 3 emails to the top three heads for FCA north America and wouldn't you know it a lady called me personally and said that the head of FCA NA assigned her to me to get to the bottom of this. well its been a month and still no answer from FCA. i feel that they are playing Russian roulette with the recall on the 2019 ram 2500 cummins turbo diesels. my question to NTSB is if my ram stalls on rail road tracks and i get hit by a train is FCA liable for the death /injury of the occupants? thanks [XXX] cell [XXX] PS i could not find a form or way to submit and complaint about the recall so that is why this correspondence is happening. I was driving home from the market and the truck slowed down to 16 mph. I could not go any faster. I pulled over to the middle of the street and turned the truck off for a minute. I then restarted it and attempted to drive it somewhere safe. The truck finally came to a stop right before an intersection. I had to get out because cars were coming fast. I was afraid someone was going to hit me. I called AAA right away. They told me the tow truck was on the way and that they would send the police. The police never showed up. The tow truck got there in about 15 minutes. The only information i have is the fuel system has a error code of P0087 and reads Fuelrail system pressure-too low. Check engine light is on, It did say something about the fuel system and the truck will not start. No one has looked at the truck yet. I will be calling the dealer this coming week to see about getting it checked out and having recall issues taken care of.

When driving down the road, intermittently my truck will lose throttle input. I get a check engine light and the electronic throttle control light. this is extremely dangerous when pulling out into traffic or even pulling out onto a higher speed road because the truck will not let me accelerate. It will just sputter and I have to fight it to about 35mph when I can activate cruise control then am forced to drive only using cruise control no matter what the road or traffic is like which is also not very safe. So far, I am at 3 service appointments over the span of about a month and a half, over $500 invested and the dealer cannot find the culprit or issue causing this. I know that fault code P2121 is set off but it does not lead to much.
Service antilock came up and break pedal sensitivity change from soft to hard and caused me to missed my stopping force and hit a vehicle
I was driving on the highway and was rear ended by another vehicle which lifted the back end of my truck from the ground. Both side air bags deployed. I was wearing a hoodie at the time and the airbag deployment caused my hoodie to catch on fire. There was not an open flame for me to know it was burning. Instead, it smoldered and burnt my hoodie material. I could feel the underside of my arm stinging and the holes in my sleeve, but believed that it was a result of the airbag hitting my arm and causing essentially a bad carpet burn. However, this caused second degree burns to the bottom side of my arm near my arm pit. I discovered after the incident that airbag deployment is assisted by gunpowder. I am not sure if this is what caused my hoodie to catch fire. I also discovered that 2021-2022 Rams recently had a recall on Side Airbags due to improperly compressed air. My truck is a 2019 however, so I'm not sure if that recall should be expanded to include additional years.
The sway bar keeps disconnecting or becomes unoperatable during extreme cold days. It's like it becomes frozen. You have to wait until the temperature warms up and it will go away. How is one supposed to use this on the Power Wagon in places where we get cold weather, and need to travel off road and utilize the sway bar disconnect normally if it keeps not being available to disconnect in cold weather. It has been in dealership several times for this and repaired twice by replacement. The dealership cant figure out why it happens so they just replaced the parts and send you on your way after waiting weeks to get fixed.
