Dealer unable to get recall parts since the inception of the recall. Dealer says they only receive a couple of DIPSTICKS a month. Long waiting list. I called Chrysler to no avail. Ridiculous wait for a dipstick!
2020 Ram 2500 air blows through defrost vents in all modes, causing windshield to fog up making it impossible to see. This almost caused me to wreck while pulling my camper at night.
Right Rear seat Heater got so hot it burnt a hole in the seat. This happened without any warnings. Seat cushion material was burnt badly enough that an interior fire may have resulted. There were no warnings/messages. Nor symptoms of problems prior to the incident.
Went to cross a highway, started accelerating and about halfway across the road, the accelerator acted as if if just stopped working, and almost caused a collision with oncoming traffic. Managed to coast across the road, and get out of harms way. Tried to take off again and got to approximately 20mph and the accelerator stopped working again. Took off again and the truck seemed to be ok, then at random the accelerator would just stop working. Got it back home, until I get get it to a dealership.
06/??/22 I CONTACTED DEALER ABOUT HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP ISSUE.SERVICE DEPT. STATED THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER NEW PUMP , WOULD BE IN AUGUST,, & TAKE 2 DAYS TO COMPLETE..WAITED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2022 TO CONTACT AGAIN ABOUT RECALL, BASICALLY HUNG UP ON. CONTACTED AGAIN A FEW WEEKS AGO . LEFT COMPLETE MESSAGE STATED ALL THAT TRANSPIRED SO FAR W/ VIN # & CALL BACK # NO RESPONSE A FAILURE OF THIS PART CAN CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE...
On the date of 11/11/2022 the vehicle experienced an electrical fire in the engine compartment. This happened after the vehicle completed a heater grid cycle before starting remotely. All signs of the fire from photographs clearly show the fire starting from the ground bolt location of the heater grid. This seems to be a common issue when researching forums among other owners of the same vehicle with the same engine options. There were no warning lights or other indications of a problem with the vehicle before this happened. Thankfully I keep a fire extinguisher in my vehicle and was able to save the vehicle. It is currently at a dealership awaiting parts and further confirmation of the fire source.
recall: Y78NHTSA 21V-880 - Dealer Larry H Miller Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram unable to perform work in a timely manner- stated that they are able to order only one (1) HPFP every 7 days and the wait tome is over 10 months! I believe the failure of this pump creates a likely situation of causing death and/or injury that would make this more critical than a 10 month wait. Is there any legal remedies to get FCA and Cummins to perform their repairs timely? I made an appointment and gave the recall # and made arrangements for transportation as repair will take more than one day. At no time was I informed of the backlog. This should have been communicated by NHTSA, FCA, and LH Miller. When I called FCA hotline 800-853-1403 and spoke to Loretta the response was anything but helpful -more the attitude of we don;t care and it will be fixed when it will be fixed

The radio/Uconnect system won’t turn on. It’ll take days before it will turn on every time it stops working. It’s been doing this on and off since I bought the truck. Backup alert won’t work The blind spot alert doesn’t work
Unknown-transmission, available for inspection. Truck lost power getting onto interstate and would not go over 65. After stopping and starting again, truck would not shift out of 2nd, until it jerked.. once stopped again, transmission would not shift from park to drive until vehicle was turned off and restarted and bucked and jerked to side of road. Truck will be taken to dealer 10/14/22 to ram service center in Clyde Tx. Truck was inspected by auto nation waco Tx service center 9/17-9-24 with nothing found. There was a buck, then vehicle traveled for about 3 miles then lost allforward power and would go 50mph at 3000 rpm and trans temp rose to 227. Truck was parked and will have to be towed to service center in Clyde Tx
The vehicle was placed into park and the "P" began flashing by when I stepped out of the vehicle it began moving backwards. I jumped into the vehicle and the gear selection showed the vehicle in reverse so I replaced the vehicle into park but the door struck an object which bent the door towards the front end of the vehicle damaging the hinges and the fender. Ram customer care was contacted and the vehicle was inspected at an authorized dealer who found no issue with the vehicle.

RECALL IS NOT BEING COMPLETD IN A TIMELY MANNER. We have not had any incidents but we have been waiting since August of 2022 for the dealer to receive the parts to complete the recall. We have been told that we are on a waiting list and we're actually on the waiting list at 2 different locations. I read online that I should file a complaint if the recall is not completed in a timely manner. We are driving the vehicle with the risks these recalls pose and do not want to have to go through any incident or accidents.

Side airbag from drivers seat deployed and caused burs to the driver. The vehicle struck a deer and the drives side curtain airbags deployed. The front air bags did not deploy. Insurance and dealer have been contacted.
Gear Shifter and Vehicle Dash does not accurately reflect the vehicle's gear. Putting the truck in neutral today resulted in an accident as it was still in drive and had the ability to accelerate. Another similar incident was putting the vehicle in reverse from drive, but truck was stuck in neutral. Putting the vehicle in park resulted in reverse, etc... There are no prior warnings or faults in dash and it just spontaneously occurs at random times.
The spare tire was/is mounted incorrectly under the truck. This has caused the sidewalls in the spare tire to rub causing massive damage to the sidewalls making the tire unusable. If the tire is used it will blow out and cause a major accident.

The tailgate on this truck has opened 11 times now while driving down the road. I take it to the dealer and they do nothing about it and say none of their diagnostics show anything. I have researched this problem and for the past consecutive years prior to this year's model, the same issue has been recalled. This last time it happened, it came down while pulling a trailer which bent the tailgate and items fell out of the back of the truck. I took it back to the dealer who stated the same thing and said they would order some parts to replace as they said they have had issues with the (I believe they said right side) bolts or mechanism with precious years but have never contacted me back. Now it continues to open and I have a bent tailgate because of it. Yet no one will do anything about it without me having to pay when it should be warrantied or possibly recalled as obviously the issue in 2020 models is still not corrected. 6/13/2022 was the last time it happened, but it started in January of 2021 and has opened 11 times to date.
See dealer exhaust system exhaust required was on the display. This happened with me , wife, 2 year old and 6 year old in the truck. It just felt and sounded as if the truck dropped gears and slowed down in the middle of high traffic with big rigs on a busy interstate. I put on hazard immediately to warn the trucks behind me. Do to immediate loss of power and limp acceleration. As I tried to assess the situation safely and quickly as possible , I nearly got rear ended by several big rigs as they tried one by one to avoid me at the last second. Me and my family are safe but I am in shock still as we managed to get out of the way regained my composure to get my family safely off to the next ramp when traffic slowed to avoid having my family in high traffic danger. This issue is a severe danger to the general public and anyone in the road with this type of malfunction. I as so many other families who were in the same situation, stranded and barely avoided serious and substantial injuries and death. If this was due to the cp4 system, I would have these rigs of the road asap. I also had the dealership ,before, I left Nevada,to go and get my new concession trailer in Georgia had the fuel filters changed. The oil and filters changed, an update for the truck and asked and arranged for the new cpu unit to be installed. I also asked the dealership mechanic if it was advisable to drive out to Georgia to get my food truck and he said yes. I’m not sure if this is the issue, but my research point to this direction. There are forum on this. With stories like mine and the outrageous safety hazards this has caused. It is a defect that needs immediate action. This defect does not trump my family’s life or any other innocent lives. This puts me and my family out of a truck to get to Georgia to pull my concession trailer back home. We are literally stuck and stranded in Missouri. This defect has put me and my family in a vulnerable position which could be a serious hazard to us thanx

Wanted to explain what happened to the truck. Left the house as normal, pulled out of the driveway. Normal acceleration around 45mph, truck started to spit and sputter making loud knocking noises in the engine. Lost complete power. Truck shut off by itself. Was able to crank back up and drive it back home with vigorously vibrating and sputtering. I was only about 200 yards from my driveway when this happened. Truck is not driveable.
recall remedy not yet for three month
I have tried to get a new fuel pump from the dealer. No such luck yet. Now my truck is not drivable. It has multiple misfires and sounds just downright horrible. This truck has been serviced religiously. I have done everything the truck needs done at the times it needed done. Now the truck again is not drivable. The engine sounds like it is about to blow. I need someone to tell me what I need to do now. I do not have thousands of dollars to put into this truck, all because the fuel pump has not been available.

Multiple electrical issues since new. These include passenger seatbelt light and sound flickering, battery failed after leaving me stranded. Most recent was the heated steering wheel quit working. When I took it to the dealer to repair they said I had a bad clock spring but it is back ordered. Without any repair my heated steering wheel now works but my horn doesn’t function and cruise control doesn’t work properly. There is clearly a vague underlying electrical issue causing failures.
While driving up snow covered inclined driveway. Truck started to spin and stopped going forward. Starting to slide backwards the engine shut off and I lost power steering and power brakes. Managed to re-start while sliding backwards but the engine shut off again resulting in a sideways crash into a tree. Thus causing $5000.00 truck damage but no bodily injury. My insurance covers damage but I am out a $500.00 deductible. The engine shutting off happened the year before but I was able to stop the slide in time. I just received a recall ("Z20/NHTSA 22-140") and I'm not sure if that problem is a cause of my incident. I did not notice any warning indications during or before the incident. I have not contacted FCA or my dealer yet.
The tow mirror blind spot is inoperable when mirrors are in the retracted position. Makes it extremely hard to tell if another vehicle is next to you. The blind spot mirror is only effective when the mirrors are placed in the tow position.

This complaint is regarding NHTSA Recall #21V-880, or Manufacturers recall # Y78 safety recall regarding main fuel pump replacement on my 2020 Dodge Ram truck with a Cummins diesel engine. I brought this recall to the attention of my servicing dealer in Feb of 2022. They advised due to Covid manufacturing delays, it would be a long time before my truck would be repaired. I spoke with them yesterday, Nov 7-22, they advised I am still number 40 on the list and that they are only allowed to order one pump per week. This process is unacceptable. I have not been driving the truck due to the potential safety concern of a failed pump causing loss of power and potential accident in traffic. I have found out thru dealer sources that there are 371 of these pumps in parts depot in Portland Oregon, 2 hrs from my house. So it doesn't seem there is a shortage of these parts, as there are several parts depots across the nation with these stocked. This is a consumer safety issue that should be addressed in a timely manner. It seems that it is being treated as a convenience issue. Please advise, thank you.
The tires have premature wearing and cracking . Tires need to be replaced The DEF tank was replaced in 2021 and once again needs to be replaced. The plug for heating er on the oil pan is defective and sparks. The radio shuts off and won’t come back on. The blind spot sensors don’t always work. Truck sometimes won’t go into park or let you shift it off
I brought my Ram 2500 2020 with 35000 miles into the dealer and they need to replace all the gaskets. I had an oil leak.
On 1/21/2022 I was driving from Grand Junction CO, to my home in Broomfield CO. Halfway through the 250 mile trip, I received a warning 'Low DEF'. I looked at my DEF tank gauge as soon as I got the message - it read 1/4 tank. A couple minutes pass and another message displays - Service Diesel Exhaust System - See Dealer and my truck immediately loses power and dies when i'm in the fast lane - Eastbound I-70 to Denver. I pulled into the slow lane and finally off the side of the interstate. I did not go into limp mode, never received the countdown message '250 Miles Until Limp Mode', and the truck would not start once I was on the side of the interstate. It died just West of Vail Colorado. The weather was approx 25 degrees and snowing. I then contacted CFA Roadside Assistance, which came with my purchase. After speaking with a representative, I was told a tow truck was on the way. I was then told I needed to get a Taxi to pick me up on the interstate, because I wouldn't be allowed to ride with the tow driver to safety. The tow never came. I called CFA a second time, 4 hours later and spoke with a second representative that told me the tow had been canceled. I was never notified of the tow cancelation and was told CFA would arrange for a second tow. They never arranged a second tow, and still haven't reached out to check on my condition. I'm going to reiterate, I was left in freezing, snowing conditions in the Rocky Mountaints with no way to start my truck and no assistance from the Roadside assistance program I've paid for w/the vehicle purchase. In a desperate attempt I returned to my vehicle with DEF fluid hoping adding additional DEF would allow me to start the vehicle. My safety was put at risk trying to fill the DEF tank on a blind interstate curve, in snow and icy conditions, with semi's passing two feet away. I was not able to restart the truck after adding DEF. Now my truck as at RAM Silverthorne, and they won't look at it until 2/17/2022.

When I unlock my truck and enter, my odometer adds hundreds of miles to the mileage.l have a video recording of this happening and I made a few screen shots to upload in this form. It has been happening since I bought the used truck but I wasn't fast enough to record it until today. If Ram is doing this to all it's trucks, this could be as big as the Volkswagen diesel scandal. Imagine shortening the warranty mileage of all Ram vehicles to increase repair income!

Engine compartment hood insulation liner design is deficient and is coming loose from edge closest to windshield. The design of the insulation liner has no trim pins on the back half of the liner and relies on shaped stiffening to keep it up on the hood. Vehicle is under warranty, but the Ram Service department indicated that there's currently no fix identified. They have had numerous complaints. They indicated that even one of there service technicians has the same issue. The reliance on the liner shape stiffening is insufficient and is sagging. This could become a hazard if it drops down on the engine.
High pressure pump failed, while traveling, engine died and would not restart.

Manufacturer Recall NumberY78 NHTSA Recall Number21V-880 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete Summary A high pressure fuel pump failure may introduce internally failed component debris into the fuel system potentially causing fuel starvation. Safety Risk Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of motive power, which can cause vehicle crash without prior warning. From this recall I have not been able to drive this truck for over a year. It sits in my driveway with a payment of nearly $1300 a month. I have reached out to the dealer since the day I received the recall notification in the mail and have been told couple weeks for over a year now. This is beyond acceptable for any person. It’s always one excuse after another with the dealers. Fuel pumps are in shortage, parts are on back order and then told we can only have one pump shipped to the dealer a month and the vehicles being sold on the lot take priority over already owned. I have been making these payments for a vehicle that has simply turned into a driveway ornament to say the least. Can you please investigate this issue as the truck is unsafe to drive and quite frankly I’m disgusted with purchasing an 80 thousand dollar truck for it to just sit.
2nd visit to dodge dealership, While towing a trailer with the trailer electrical plug in use, the trailer breaks keep going out, I am driving down the road and the dash warning comes on saying the trailer breaks are disconnected. When trying to stop, at first I will not have trailer breaks, so I have to bare down on the truck brakes to stop the trailer, then the trailer brakes start working and jerks the truck back. Also, when not towing a trailer the dash warning comes on saying incompatible trailer?? No trailer is plugged in. At the dealership all day, they are telling me nothing is wrong. It is NOT the 5th wheel trailer, I spent $1,200 on new brakes, electrical and plug for trailer. It is the truck.
The contact owns a 2020 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at 75 MPH, the vehicle stalled as an exhaust warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to coast the vehicle off of the freeway and shut off the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where they discovered that metal shavings had entered the fuel line caused by a defective high-pressure fuel pump. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer and the contact obtained a rental vehicle. Two months later, the contact received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V880000 (Fuel System, Diesel) which he linked to the failure; however, parts for the recall repair were unavailable. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure on multiple occasions but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. The VIN was unavailable.
