The contact owned a 2017 Ram Promaster 3500. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle on the side of his house, he received an alert from a sensor camera attached to his home. When the contact checked the alert, he saw that the vehicle had caught fire. The contact immediately called the fire department and they were able to extinguish the fire once they arrived. No injuries were reported. The contact sustained property damage side of his garage and the siding of the garage had become warped due to the fire. The vehicle had yet to be removed from the property and had been deemed a total loss. The contact posted pictures of his damaged vehicle to an online forum and the manufacturer reached out to him for assistance. The contact was asked if he would like a team to come to his home to investigate the cause of the failure; the contact had yet to make arraignments for the finding. The contact stated that the rear passenger side of the trailer; however, the cause of the failure had yet to be determined. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
SLIDING DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE UNLATCHES WHILE DRIVING .NO LOGICAL CONNECTION TO DRIVING SPEED OR BUMPY ROAD . HAPPENED TWICE WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY AROUND 30 MPH AND ONES ON INTERSTATE AROUND 60 MPH .SERVICE DEPARTMENT DID TWO ATTEMPTS TO RECREATE THE ISSUE BY DRIVING THE CAR ABOUT 90 MILES BUT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN WHILE IN SERVICE DPT .
THE INTERIOR CABIN DESIGN IS LACKING ANY PASSIVE "GRAB HANDLE" FOR THE PASSENGER EITHER FOR INGRESS OR EGRESS OR FOR PASSENGER SAFTEY DURING TRAVEL.
