Defect Description

CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, 'OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION.' THE WRONG OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) WAS INSTALLED ON THESE VEHICLES.

Safety Consequence

THIS CAN CAUSE INCREASED RISK OF INJURY TO THE DRIVER UNDER CERTAIN CRASH CONDITIONS.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 27, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
