The contact's husband was outside and heard an abnormal cracking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact's husband witnessed the rear windshield shattering and bulging outwards. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for inspection at the owner's expense. The contact stated that upon investigating the failure, the contact found out that nickel was used in the tempered glass, which weakened the glass.
