TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA SCION XB. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 50-55 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. WHEN PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE PROCEEDING VEHICLE. THE POLICE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE. THERE WERE NO PERSONAL INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE PREVIOUS DAY BEFORE THE FAILURE OCCURRENCE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ENGAGED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE ROAD SURFACE WAS DRY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000. UPDATED 06/17/10.*LJ UPDATED 07/12/10*JB
DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT FOR BRAKES, ABS, AND TCS LIGHT UP RANDOMLY SO THE DRIVER CANNOT DETERMINE IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES OR IT IS A FALSE WARNING. THE CAR WAS EXAMINED BY DON JOSEPH TOYOTA/SCION IN KENT, OHIO ON MARCH 1, 2010. THEY SAID THE RIGHT REAR SENSOR WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $700 TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE THE CAR HAS 53,000 MILES ON IT AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS FAILURE HAS BEEN OCCURRING INTERMITTENTLY FOR ONE MONTH. *TR
I HAD BEEN DRIVING MY 2008 SCIONXB IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC FOR APPROXIMATELY AND HOUR, THEN ENTERED A TOLL ROAD WITH SPEED OF 65 MPH. I HAD TO GO THROUGH TWO TOLL PLAZAS, SLOWING DOWN FOR EACH. I WAS APPROACHING THE EXIT RAMP FOR MY DESTINATION, APPLIED MY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN AND THE CAR CONTINUED AT HIGH SPEED. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY. I WAS UNABLE TO BRING MY VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS A SNOW PILE THAT HAD BEEN PLOWED TO THE END OF THE RAMP AT THE INTERSECTION WHICH SOFTEND MY CRASH.THE CAR WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. THE BRAKE LINE WAS EXAMINED AND NO RUPTURES WERE IN THE BRAKELINE. I AM WAITING FOR MORE INFORMATION FROM THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER. *TR
AFTER AROUND 50K MILES, I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE OIL WAS ABOUT A QUART LOW WHEN TAKING IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. AT THE TIME I WAS TOLD PRETTY MUCH WHAT THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES ABOUT OIL CONSUMPTION. I'VE OWNED MANY VEHICLES IN THE PAST, OLD AND NEW, AND NEVER HAD ONE THAT USED THIS MUCH OIL. IF ANY OF THEM DID USE OIL, IT WAS A SMALL ENOUGH AMOUNT THAT YOU CAN'T TELL FROM THE DIPSTICK. SO, WITH THEIR EXPLANATION I MOVED ON. AS TIME WENT ON, IT SEEMED MORE AND MORE OIL WAS BEING USED BY THE ENGINE. NOW AFTER THE WARRANTY WOULD NO LONGER COVER SUCH A THING, I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, WHICH I DID NOT DO SINCE ANY PROBLEM THEY DISCOVER WOULD COME OUT OF MY POCKET. AS TIME PROGRESSES, THE VEHICLE IS AT THE POINT WHERE I HAVE TO CHECK THE OIL EVERY WEEK AND ADD OIL. I LEARNED THAT IF I WAIT FOR THE NEXT OIL CHANGE @ 3000 MILES, THERE IS NO OIL LEFT IN THE ENGINE. WHAT'S EVEN MORE DISTURBING IS THAT THERE IS NO INDICATION ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THAT ANYTHING IS WRONG. I WOULD SUSPECT THE OIL LIGHT WOULD COME ON AT SOME POINT, BUT NEVER HAVE I SEEN THIS LIGHT, OR ANY OTHER LIGHT COME ON INDICATING AN ISSUE. TO SUM IT UP, THERE ARE NO LEAKS, THE ENGINE WILL CONSUME ALL OF THE OIL WITHIN 3000 MILES IF NOT MONITORED, AND THERE ARE NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING A PROBLEM. *TR
MY 2008 SCION XB WAS REAR ENDED WHILE I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT. THE VEHICLE THAT HIT ME WAS A LARGER CHEVY SUV TRAVELING AT A MINIMUM SPEED OF 35 MPH SENDING MY SCION INTO THE REAR OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AT THE STOP LIGHT. MY AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED... I WAS TOLD TO NOTIFY YOUR AGENCY. *TR
IN MY 2008 SCION TC (SCROLL DOWN OPTIONS WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO SELECT THIS MODEL), I EXPERIENCE MOMENTARY FAILURE OF THE BRAKES. THIS OCCURS WHEN I DRIVE OVER A POT HOLE, RAILROAD TRACKS, ETC. & ATTEMPT TO BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME. THE BRAKES DO NOT "CATCH" SO TO SPEAK, AND GIVES A FEELING THAT THEY ARE JUST "BOUNCING" AROUND, INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY SLOWING OR STOPPING THE CAR. THIS HAS OCCURED AT LEAST 3 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2008. IT MOST RECENTLY OCCURED LAST MONTH. *TR
CAR WAS SITTING STILL, HAD JUST STARTED IT. HEARD A "POP" AND MY WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. SCION XB 2008. I HAVE BEEN READING ABOUT NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH THE L SHAPED CRACK GOING FROM THE DASH BY THE DRIVERS WIPER ACROSS TO PASSENGER SIDE. NO ROCK HIT THE WINDSHIELD THERE. *TR
THIS CONCERNS MY LEASED 2008 SCION XD. THE FIRST TIME MY BRAKES FAILED WAS ABOUT A WEEK PRIOR TO RECEIPT OF THE RECALL NOTICE. I WAS GOING DOWNHILL AT A VERY LOW RATE OF SPEED IN VERY COLD WEATHER, DRY GROUND. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE & NOTHING HAPPENED. I HAD TO SWERVE & BUMP THE CURB TO SLOW THE CAR AND AFTER ABOUT 15 FEET, I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. THE RECALL INVOLVES MOISTURE COLLECTED ON THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION PORT,SEEPS INTO THE BRAKE SYSTEM VACUUM PORT & FREEZES IN COLDER TEMPERATURES CAUSING BRAKE FAILURE. I HAD THE RECALLED PART REPLACED, & THEN THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN. AGAIN AT SLOW SPEED. THIS TIME ON A FLAT SURFACE. VERY COLD TEMPERATURES, BUT NO INCLEMENT WEATHER. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED TO SCHEDULE SERVICE. BUT BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT THE BRAKES FAILED FOUR TIMES IN ONE HAIR RAISING DRIVE TO WORK. I AM AMAZED EITHER MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE WAS NOT HURT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP & TOLD THEM THERE WAS NO WAY I WOULD DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN. THEY SENT A LOAN VEHICLE OUT WITH A DRIVER TO PICK UP MY CAR & DRIVE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. NOW THE MECHANIC IS SAYING THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THEY ARE 'UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM.' I HAVE A YEAR LEFT ON THE LEASE OF THIS VEHICLE. THERE IS NO WAY I AM GOING TO SUBJECT MYSELF TO THE DANGER OF DRIVING THIS CAR AGAIN . SIX BRAKE FAILURES IS MORE THAN ENOUGH. I MET WITH A DEAD END TRYING TO WORK WITH MY DEALERSHIP REGARDING MY SCION XD. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH MY BRAKES FAILED TO WORK. ACCORDING TO THEM, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IT DID NOT MATTER TO THEM THAT THEIR MECHANIC TOOK IT FOR A FIVE MINUTE SPIN IN TEMPS THAT WERE NEARLY 30 DEGREES WARMER THAN THE TEMPS WERE WHEN I ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM. I SPOKE WITH A SALES MANAGER, THE GENERAL MANAGER AND THE HEAD MECHANIC. I COULD TELL THE SALES MANAGER FELT BADLY, BUT HE WAS FORCED TO TOW THE COMPANY LINE. THE GENERAL MANAGER WAS HORRIBLY CONDESCENDING. THEY OFFERED NO SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A TOYOTA SCION XB AND I WAS DRIVING ON A SNOW COVERED ROAD. I HAD A DEER JUMP OUT IN FRONT OF ME. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES FAILED AND MY WHEELS LOCKED UP AND I SLID INTO THE DITCH. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID A SPEED SENSOR WENT OUT. I ORDERED THE PART AND WAS GOING TO HAVE IT REPLACED FOR $90. WHEN THEY WENT TO INSTALL THE PART THEY FOUND A SHORT IN THE WIRING AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE SENSOR TO FAIL. THEY WANTED ME TO PAY OVER $1000 TO HAVE THE WIRING FIXED. THEY GAVE ME A COPY OF THE SERVICE ADVISORY FROM TOYOTA STATING THEY KNEW THEY HAD THIS DEFECT AND HAD A REDESIGNED PART TO INSTALL BECAUSE OF CORROSION WHICH CAUSED THE SHORT. I REFUSED TO HAVE THE NEW PARTS INSTALLED BECAUSE I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR DESIGN FLAWS. *TR
ENGINE HAS USED A QUART OF OIL WHICH STARTED AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES
THE TOYOTA SCION I WAS DRIVING SUDDENLY SPED UP CAUSING ME TO CRASH INTO A HEDGE IN A PARKING LOT. I HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN ODOR TO TURN INTO THE PARKING LOT WHEN THE ACCELERATOR STUCK. *TR
WINTER BRAKE PROBLEMS-ON COLD DAYS (30 AND BELOW)THE RIGHT REAR CALIBER LOCKS AND WILL NOT RELEASE.THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ARE ON AND THE TEMPATURE IS 30 OR BELOW.WHEN THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ARE RELEASED,ONLY THE ONE RIGHT REAR CALIBER STAYS LOCKED.I HAD TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO GET THE CALIBER HOT ENOUGH TO RELEASE THE BRAKES.I CAN NOT USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKES AT ALL! *CN
2008 SCION ACCELERATOR PROBLEM. CAR WAS AT A FULL STOP PRIOR MY TURNING INTO A SMALL PARKING LOT, WHEN THE BRAKES RELEASED THE SCION SPED FORWARD. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP.THE SCION. MY CAR WAS TOTALED THE DRIVER SEAT PUSHED FORWARD THROWING ME INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND PINING ME THERE. ALTHOUGH THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED I WAS INJURED WHEN I HIT THE STEERING WHEEL. MY NECK ALSO WAS AFFECTED FROM THE IMPACT. UNFORTUNATELY THE CAR HIT A PARKED CAR WHICH BROUGHT THE MY CAR TO A FULL STOP THROWING ME INTO THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS TAKEN TO AN EMERGENCY HOSPITAL WHERE I UNDERWENT 3 CTS AND WAS SEEN BY A DOCTOR. UPON DISCHARGE I WENT HOME WITH INSTRUCTIONS. I HAVE SINCE HAD A PHYSICAL THERAPY HELP WITH MY NECK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA SCION XB. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION. IMMEDIATELY, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS), VISIBILITY STABILE CONTROL (VSC) AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATORS REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FAILURES WERE CONTRIBUTED TO THE SPEED SENSOR AND WIRE HARNESS CORROSION. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
DRIVING BACK FROM CHRISTMAS BREAK ON DECEMBER 26, 2009, MY RADIO WAS PLAYING AT A NORMAL VOLUME AT ABOOUT 13, AND THERE WERE NO OVER-PASSES NOR A VEHICLE WITHIN A MILE IN FRONT OR BEHIND ME AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY SUNROOF TO MY 2008 SCION TC EXPLODES! IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT WENT OFF RIGHT BESIDE MY HEAD OR A TRACTOR TRAILOR TIRE BLOWING BESIDE ME BUT AGAIN, NOTHING OR NOBODY WAS AROUND. THANKFULLY, MY SHADE WAS PULLED SHUT SINCE IT HAD JUST SNOWED A COUPLE DAYS BEFORE THEN AND WHEN IT SNOWS I ALWAYS PULL IT SHUT; SO IT TOOK ME A MINUTE TO REALIZE MY SUNROOF WAS MISSING. GLASS STARTED COMING IN THROUGH THE OPENINGS OF THE SHADE AND THE SHADE ITSELF WAS BLOWING CRAZY SINCE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE IT WAS CATCHING WIND. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE TO SEE THE DAMAGE AND THE ENTIRE GLASS OF MY SUNROOF HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED AND THERE WAS A HUGE HOLE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE WHERE THE GLASS HAD FALLEN INTO THE CAR. I HAVE A PICTURE. ONCE I'D GOTTEN OFF THE INTERSTATE AND CONTACTED MY PARENTS TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, I CALLED THE POLICE BUT THEY SAID SINCE THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT AND NO ONE WAS HURT THAT THEY DIDN'T NEED TO BE CONTACTED. I CONTACTED MY DEALER TO SEE IF I COULD STORE MY CAR OVER NIGHT SINCE THE DEALERSHIP WAS ONLY A MILE AWAY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME A SCION TC'S SUNROOF HAS EXPLODED. SO ONCE I GOT HOME I RESEARCHED AND SURE ENOUGH THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER CASES OF THE EXACT SAME THING. I CONTACTED SCION AND THEY DID REPAIR MY VEHICLE FOR FREE BUT THAT IS NOT THE CASE. I COULD HAVE BEEN HURT. IF MY SHADE WAS NOT PULLED I WOULD HAVE PROBABLY WRECKED. I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE WITHOUT MY SHADE NOT BEING PULLED WITH FEAR OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING AGAIN. NEITHER SCION OR SHELOR MOTORMILE OF CHRISTIANSBURG, VA COULD DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT. SCION DIID APOLOGIZE BUT TOLD ME THE REPAIRS WOULD ONLY BE FOR ONE TIME. SO IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN I'M STUCK WITH A CAR AND A BUSTED SUNROOF. *TR
2008 SCION TC - WORN OUT CLUTCH AFTER ONLY 10K MILES. NO OPTION TO SELECT MODEL TC ON THIS SITE. *TR
PARKING BRAKES FROZEN DURING DRIVE. IT HAPPEN ONLY IN WINTER TIME. FIRST TIME IT HAPPEN WHEN ODO METER AT 9,000 MILE THEN 18,000 AND NOW AT 40,000+ MILES. I CHECKED WITH LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND ENDUP IN REPLACING ROTOR + BRAKEPADS. BUT NOW I FEEL NOW IT GETTING WORSE AND REPAIR SHOP INSIST THAT I SHOULD CONTACT DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BECAUSE IT IS NOT NORMAL TO REPLACE ROTOR AND BRAKEPADS TWICE WITH 40,000 MILES OF DRIVING. WINDOWS ALSO FROZE DURING THE COLD WEATHER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA SCION XB. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, FOLLOWED BY AN UNINTENDED FORCEFUL ACCELERATION. THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR MAT WAS UNDERNEATH THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND IT COVERED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SURFACE. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF IMMEDIATELY. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO A FLOOR MAT CLIP THAT DISENGAGED FROM THE FLOOR WHICH RESULTED IN THE MOVEMENT OF THE MAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS REJECTED FROM THE SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER'S ENGINEER WHO REPLACED THE FLOOR MAT CLIP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,688.
HAVE A 2008 SCION TC, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70 AND CLUTCH BURNT UP IN GEAR. ONLY HAVE 23000 MILES. DEALER DENIED THE WARRANTY. ONLINE MANY COMPLAINTS. *TR
ABS SYSTEM / VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM FAILURE. FAULTY SPEED SENSORS, HARNESS, AND WIRES / BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES. DEFECT RESULTS IN PERMANENT LOSS OF ABS BRAKING AND VSC CONTROL SYSTEMS. *TR
THE WINDSHIELD IN THE CAR MADE CREAKING NOISES IN COLD WEATHER. SOON AFTER, 3 LARGE CRACKS APPEARED IN THE WINDSHIELD. THEY ARE EACH APPROXIMATELY 2-3 FEET LONG. THEY START AT THE FAR EDGES OF THREE DIFFERENT SIDES OF THE WINDSHIELD ARE SLOWLY CONVERGING IN THE CENTER. THERE IS NO SIGN OF AN IMPACT, AND I WATCHED THE CRACKS FORM WHILE SITTING IN A PARKING SPACE. I THEN RESEARCHED THE ISSUE, AND NOW I AM AFRAID TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD, BECAUSE FROM WHAT I HEAR, I WILL JUST HAVE TO REPLACE IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN. *TR
MY XB WAS BOUGHT ON APRIL 2008. 1.ON NOVEMBER 2009, THE VSC LIGHT WAS ON. DEALER FIXED IT BY REPLACING #3 IGNITION COIL. 2.ON DECEMBER 2009, THE VSC LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN, THIS TIME DEALER REPLACED #2 IGNITION COIL. 3. ON MARCH 2011, THE VSC LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN AND DEALER REPLACED #1 IGNITION COIL. 4. ON SEPTEMBER 2011, THE ELECTRIC STEERING LIGHT WAS ON AND STEERING WILL NOT TURN. THIS TIME I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE DEALER REPLACED "POWER STEERING ECM (COMPUTER) AND CHARGED ME $863.36 INCLUDING $75 RENTAL DURING REPAIR. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS 4 IGNITION COIL IN THE CAR, SO 3 OF 4 OF THEM FAILED WITHIN THE FIRST 3 YEARS. HE ALSO AGREED THAT THE STEERING PROBLEM IS LIFE THREATENING. HOWEVER HE SAID HE COULDN'T DO ANYTHING AND IT WAS AN INDIVIDUAL CASE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA SCION XB. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STOPPED WITH HER FOOT ON BRAKE THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD AND ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT STATING IT WAS A POWER SURGE WITHIN THE COMPUTER MECHANISM. THEY REPAIRED AND RESET IT. THE FAILURE HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE THE REPAIR WAS DONE . THEY ALSO CHECKED THE BRAKE AND STATED THAT IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8232 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 31570.
I WAS INTERESTED IN BUYING A 2008 SCION XB. I HAD HEARD THAT THE OLDER XBS HAD A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHIELDS SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKING. THEY CALLED THEM "STRESS CRACKS" BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE FRAME WAS AND THE SLOPE OF THE WINDSHIELD. I SPOKE TO A SALESMAN BEFORE I BOUGHT THE NEW SCION ABOUT THE WINDSHIELD PROBLEM. HE TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED. TODAY, SEPT. 12TH 2009, I FOUND THE L SHAPED CRACK THAT SO MANY PEOPLE HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT ON THE 1ST GENERATION XBS. I AM CONTACTING THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT, AND I AM NOT ABOUT TO REPLACE MY WINDSHIELD NUMEROUS TIMES (AS MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD TO DO, SOMETIMES 7 OR 8 TIMES IN 6 MONTHS!!!) ARE THERE ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SCION XB WINDSHIELD? *TR

BELIEVE THAT THIS MIGHT BE A STRUCTURAL ISSUE BASED ON INVESTIGATION AND NOTICE THAT I AM NOT ALONE AS A 2008 SCION XB OWNER WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,657. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.
I WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT THE NHTSA REGARDING MY WINDSHIELD CRACK ON MY 2008 SCION XB. MY WINDSHIELD SUSTAINED A IMPACT FROM A PEBBLE SO SMALL THAT I DID NOT EVEN NOTICE THE IMPACT WHILE DRIVING. THE RESULTANT IMPACT POCK WAS LESS THAN THE SIZE OF A DIME AND LOCATED WITHIN AN INCH OF THE CENTER BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. THAT SMALL POCK HAS TURNED INTO A DIAGONAL CRACK THAT THREE DAYS LATER IS 10 INCHES LONG AND GROWING. MY RESEARCH HAS TURNED UP THAT THIS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA HAS SO FAR NOT CORRECTED AND THAT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS DEVELOPING IN ORDER TO FORCE A RECALL. I WILL BE CONTACTING MY PURCHASING TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, TOYOTA OF SAN BERNARDINO, CA IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET THIS REPAIRED UNDER THE 36 MONTH FULL WARRANTY. *TR

IN ADDITION, MOLD BEGAN TO GROW IN THE VEHICLE AND EMIT AN OFFENSIVELY STRONG AND DISTASTEFUL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

THE CONTACT STATED HE HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE AND WAS ADVISED NY THE DEALER THAT THE PEDAL MOST LIKELY HAD BECOME STUCK UNDER THE FLOOR MAT CAUSING IT NOT TO RELEASE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ON EITHER OCCASION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,600.
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT WHEN SOMEONE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND I HIT THE FRONT END OF THE CAR THAT PULLED OUT. APROX 35-40 MPH. I HAVE A 2008 SCION XB. IT DEVELOPED A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. THIS CRACK STARTED IN THE SEAL, AND FORMED A PERFECTLY STRAIGHT CRACK, WHICH THEN CURVED, AND CRACKED STRAIGHT ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD. MY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT MY SCION XB 2008. I HAVE HAD TWO PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD CRACKING. MY FIRST SCION XB 2008 HAD A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT WAS A STRESS CRACK. MY 2008 SCION TC HAS BEEN HAVING BRAKING PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 2007. THE BRAKE IS SLOW TO STOP THE VEHICLE, AND I HAVE MANY TIMES BEEN IN A SITUATION WHERE MY CAR CROSSED OVER THE STOPPING LINES AT THE INTERSECTIONS. AFTER PURCHASING MY CAR I HAD TO BRING IN TO BE SERVICED DUE TO STATIC SPEAKERS. THE BACK SPEAKERS WERE REPLACED BUT THAT WAS NOT THE LAST PROBLEM I WOULD HAVE WITH THEM. A FEW MONTHS LATER MY IPOD JACK WENT UP IN SMOKE AND MELTED MY IPOD. THE SERVICE CENTER HAD TO SPECIAL ORDER THE IPOD JACK AND CABLE WHICH TOOK 30 DAYS TO ARRIVE. AFTER REPLACING SAID PARTS I TRIED THEM OUT. THEY DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND I WAS TOLD THAT WAS THE BEST THEY COULD DO. A FEW MORE MONTHS LATER WHEN I WENT TO TURN UP THE VOLUME ON THE RADIO IT SENT I SHOCK THROUGH MY FINGER AND OUT THE SPEAKER THAT MY LEGS AS WELL AS MY BOYFRIENDS WERE NEXT TO. AFTER THE SHOCK EVERY SPEAKERS STARTED EMITTING STATIC AND I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TURNED THE WHOLE RADIO OFF. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AND WAS SENT OUT THE DOOR WITH NO RESOLUTION B/C THE SERVICE CENTER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. 2 MONTHS WENT BY AND THE SHOCKING AND STATIC HAPPENED AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN WHILE THE ISSUE WAS PRESENT AND THEY TRIED TO SENT ME HOME UNTIL I BEGGED AN ASSOCIATE TO PLEASE SIT IN THE CAR AND EXPERIENCE WHAT MY FAMILY AND I HAD. THE MINUTE HE TOUCHED THE RADIO HE WAS SHOCKED AND THE SPEAKERS TURNED TO STATIC. DUE TO THIS SAFETY HAZARD I WAS GIVEN A RENTAL AND MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE SERVICE CENTER AWAITING REPAIR. POOR QUALITY BACK-UP LIGHT COULD CAUSE VEHICLE TO BE UNSEEN WHILE BACKING UP. SCION XB HAS ONLY ONE BACK-UP LIGHT MOUNTED ON THE LOWER RIGHT SIDE OF THE BUMPER. THIS LIGHT COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS HAZARD TO CHILDREN AND PETS THAT ARE WALKING OR PLAYING AT NIGHT.TOYOTA HAS INSTALLED A VERY SAFE LIGHT ASSEMBLY ON THE SAME VEHICLE SOLD IN JAPAN AS A (TOYOTA RUMION).THE LIGHTS ON THE TOYOTA ARE A DIRECT FIT WITH THE SCION XB AND COST TOYOTA VERY LITTLE TO FIX.PLEASE NOTE THAT SINGLE LIGHT ON THE BUMPER CAN ILLUMINATE THE GROUND AND THE TOYOTA VERSION LIGHTS UP THE REAR COMPLETELY.THESE TOYOTA LIGHTS CAN BE FOUND ON THE INTERNET AND SOME MEMBERS OF SCIONLIFE. NONE OF THE REPAIRS REMEDIED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000.

I BOUGHT A 2008 SCION XD IN SEPTEMBER 2008. 6 WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR, I TOTALED IT WHEN STEERING ON AN ON-RAMP TO THE HIGHWAY. THEY ALSO SAID THE FRAME/UNIBODY WAS SLIGHTLY OFF AND LEFT ME WITH A TOTALLY VALUELESS CAR WITH 3,000 MILES ON IT. SINCE THEN I DO NOT TRUST THE STEERING OF THE CAR. IT DOES SEEM TO SWIM AT SPEEDS OVER 55 - 60 MPH - ALMOST A HYDROPLANING FEEL TO THE STEERING ON DRY PAVEMENT. I WONDER WHAT IT WILL TAKE FOR IT TO BE RECALLED? *TR
