KEY STUCK IN IGNITION CARMUST BE LEFT UNLOCKED WITH KEY IN IT WHEN PARKED - THIS CREATES A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE CAR CAN BE STOLEN OR INTRUDER CAN COME INTO CAR. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND HAD A REVISED PART 35122FJ033 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. DESPITE BEING A KNOWN DESIGN DEFECT WITH SAFETY IMPLICATIONS THERE IS NO RECALL AND THE CONSUMER MUST PAY THE $400 FOR THE REPAIR.
WATER IS ENTERING THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR FROM UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD NEAR THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THE CARPET IS STARTING TO SMELL OF MILDEW. I AM AFRAID OF THE REACTION WITH THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND WATER. I NOTIFIED MY DEALERSHIP AND AWAITING A RESPONSE. MEANWHILE, I TAKING MY CAR TO BE SERVICED.
WHEN USING THE NAVIGATION FUNCTION, THE AUDIO STOPS PROVIDING VOICE DIRECTIONS, FORCING THE DRIVER TO HAVE TO PHYSICALLY LOOK AT THE MAP DISPLAY FOR DIRECTIONS, TAKING EYES OFF OF THE ROAD. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON HIGHWAYS AS WELL AS IN CITY DRIVING. THIS ALSO LOCKS THE RADIO DISPLAY WHICH PREVENTS ANY OTHER USAGE OF THE INFORMATION SCREEN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST 10 MONTHS, THE LAST TIME IN APRIL 2019..
ABS WARNING LIGHTS COMES ON THEN AFTER I TURN OFF THE CAR IT DISAPPEARS. BOTHE TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS STOPPED THEN WHILE ACCELERATING THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. THE FIRST TIME I WAS PARKED THEN WHEN I BACKED UP LIGHTS CAME ON. THE SECOND TIME I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT WITH A SLIGHT INCLINE WHEN I STARTED THE LIGHTS CAME ON. THEN FOLLOWING TIME AFTER THE LIGHTS WERE OFF , I WOULD RESTART CAR AND THE LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING
COULDN'T START CAR FOUND OUT IT WAS BECAUSE MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING HAD TO HAVE REPLACE AT MY OWN EXPENSE. NOW I CANT ALWAYS GET MY KEY OUR OF THE IGNITION. ALSO MY TIRE PRESSURES DON'T STAY UP. I HAVE HAD TO INFLATE THEM ABOUT 3 TIME IN AS MANY MONTHS.
SAFETY CONCERN REGARDING MANUAL TRANSMISSION COMING OUT OF GEAR WHILE ENGINE BRAKING.THIS HAS HAPPENED ON FLAT ROADS AND WHILE DESCENDING HILLS, AND WHILE IN FIRST OR SECONDS GEAR. ISSUE EASILY DUPLICATED WHEN IN FIRST GEAR AT LOW SPEED (BETWEEN 1,500 AND 3,000 RPM) GOING DOWNHILL WITH FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL. AS THE VEHICLE DESCENDS THE HILL, THE GEAR LEVER BEGINS MOVING AND EVENTUALLY POPS INTO NEUTRAL. ISSUE WAS REPORTED TO DEALERSHIP AT APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE. DURING REGULAR MAINTENANCE AT 30,000 MILES, THE ISSUE WAS BROUGHT UP AGAIN. WENT FOR A DRIVE WITH THE MASTER TECHNICIAN AND DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM MULTIPLE TIMES. DEALERSHIP INSPECTED SHIFT CABLES, BUSHINGS ON CABLES, CABLE ADJUSTMENT, ENGINE MOUNTS AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS AND DEEMED THEM ALL IN GOOD CONDITION. DEALERSHIP CONTACTED SUBARU TECHNICAL SERVICES WHICH STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COMING OUT OF GEAR IS THE CAR "OPERATING AS DESIGNED" AND THAT IT IS "NORMAL CONDITION FOR CABLE SHIFTED SPLIT CASE 6-SPEED TRANSMISSION". DEALERSHIP ALSO VERIFIED THAT THE ISSUE OCCURS ON ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION AND SHIFTER. NO REPAIR OR FURTHER INVESTIGATION WAS ADVISED.
SIRIUS RADIO WILL NOT LIST ALL CHANNELS AVAILABLE CAUSING USER TO HAVE TO MANUALLY TUNE RADIO, WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD. DEALER UNABLE TO FIX AFTER SIX MONTHS. HAVE BEEN ADVISED NOT A WIDE PROBLEM BUT DEALER IS SEEING A FEW OTHER FORESTERS WITH THIS PROBLEM, BUT NO FIX.
I DROVE FROM NJ TO ME (BOUGHT IN 2017). I NOTICED DIFFICULTY WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE/PASS CARS FROM THE LEFT LANE. I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT. AFTER 5 HRS I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY & MADE A RIGHT ONTO A MAIN ST WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE, FELT IT PULL BACK & MY WHEELS LOCK UP. I THOUGHT I HIT SOMETHING OR GOT A FLAT & WAS RIDING ON MY RIMS. FROM THE RIGHT LANE I MOVED ONTO THE SHOULDER-IT JERKED ROUGHLY BUT REMAINED STUCK. I WALKED AROUND IT & NOTICED NOTHING WRONG ON THE OUTSIDE. I WAITED 2.5 HRS FOR A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE ME 6 MINS AWAY TO OUR HOTEL. I CALLED A FEW LOCAL REPAIR SHOPS. NONE COULD SEE ME FOR A WEEK SO MY PLAN WAS TO BRING IT TO THE HOTEL. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID MY CALIPER WAS STICKING & RECOMMENDED I HAVE IT TOWED TO SUBARU SINCE NO ONE WOULD BE ABLE TO SERVICE IT AT THE HOTEL. SUBARU CALLED/SAID SOMEONE PULLED MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL PLUG & IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH POSSIBLE TRANSMISSION DAMAGE. THEY BLAMED THE OIL CHANGE GUY, SAYING HE MADE AN ERROR (THE DIFFERENTIAL WAS NEAR THE OIL DRAIN PLUG) & THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE DIFF THEY MEANT WAS THE FRONT DIFF-THEY ARE CLOSE. THERE ARE 2 DIFFS & THE REAR DIFF IS WHERE MY ISSUE WAS-10 FT AWAY FROM OIL DRAIN. I'VE ONLY HAD OIL/BRAKE PAD CHANGES & NEITHER HAD A REASON TO TOUCH ANY DIFF. THAT WORK IS RECOMMENDED BETWEEN 30-50K MILES & I HAD 31K. I DROVE A RENTAL TO NJ WHILE MY CAR WAITS IN NH. I TALKED TO CORPORATE/SERVICE ALL WEEK BUT THEY WON'T LISTEN TO ME EVEN THOUGH I MAKE A VALID POINT. THEY ASKED WHO DID THOSE ROUTINE SERVICES. I SHARED THE INFO & ASKED WHY IT WAS RELEVANT. HE "HINTED" THAT IT COULD VOID THE WARRANTY. I ASKED IF THAT WAS WHY MY CLAIM WAS DENIED BUT HE SAID HE DIDN'T SAY THAT WAS THE REASON. IT'S ILLEGAL TO TELL CUSTOMERS ONLY SUBARU CAN SERVICE THEIR CARS. EXPERIENCED MECHANICS SAY IF ANYONE PULLED THE DIFF PLUG IN NJ I WOULDN'T HAVE MADE IT TO ME-5 HRS AWAY.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY GOING UP A BRIDGE OVER THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AT ABOUT 65MPH WHEN A BUNCH OF LIGHTS CAME ON AND MY ENGINE COMPLETELY STOPPED. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL AND I HAD TO SWITCH FROM THE LEFT-HAND LANE TO THE RIGHT -HAND LANE TO GET ONTO THE SHOULDER. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE CONDITION.MY CAR SPEED AND WENT TO 65 MPH TO ABOUT 0 MPH IN THE MATTER OF A MINUTE. I DO YOU SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME TYPE OF INCIDENT HAPPENING. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BY SUBARU.MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON MY EMISSIONS CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON IN MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET TO THE SHOULDER WHILE 65 MPH CARS WERE ZOOMING PAST ME. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART MY CAR AND MAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL BE ABLE TO COME UP WITH A RESOLUTION FOR THE ISSUE THAT I AM SEEING. UNFORTUNATELY IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF FOLKS ON THE INTERNET ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES AND THEY ARE NOT BEING ADDRESSED.
ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCURRENCES WHILE THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON AND WE WERE DRIVING AT AROUND 70 MILES AN HOUR ON AN INTERSTATE, OUR CAR WOULD ELECTRONICALLY PUT ITSELF IN NEUTRAL, THE AUTOMATIC GEAR SHIFTER WOULD PHYSICALLY REMAIN IN DRIVE, THE RPM'S WOULD GO UP TO ABOUT 5500 RPMS, BECAUSE THE CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN AND THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON. WE WOULD PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE AND THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS. THREE OF THE FIVE TIMES, THE CAR WOULD START AFTER SITTING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THE THIRD TIME THE BATTERY DIED AFTER TRYING TO START IT A FEW TIMES WHILE IT WAS COLD OUT. THE FIFTH TIME THE CAR LEFT US STRANDED ON THE INTERSTATE FOR TWO HOURS WHILE WE WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK. WE HAVE NOTIFIED SUBARU EVERY TIME THAT THE CAR WOULD DO THIS. ON THE THIRD TIME IT HAPPENED, SUBARU HAD US REMOVE THE REMOTE STARTER WE HAD PURCHASED AND INSTALLED AT BEST BUY. AFTER HAVING BEST BUY REMOVE THE REMOTE STARTED, I INSTALLED A DASHCAM BEHIND THE DRIVER TO RECORD THE DRIVER, DASHBOARD AND THE SHIFTER BECAUSE SUBARU COULD NOT FIND ANY EVIDENCE OF THIS ISSUE HAPPENING. THE FOURTH AND FIFTH TIME HAPPENED WHILE WE WERE ON A FAMILY VACATION OUT OF STATE. THE CAR WAS LEFT AT A DEALERSHIP OUT OF STATE AND FOUR WEEKS AFTER THE INCIDENT THEY DETERMINED IT WAS A FAULTY FUEL PUMP. I WAS TOLD ON THE PHONE THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO TEST IF THE FUEL PUMP THEY REMOVED WAS IN FACT FAULTY. SUBARU TOLD ME THEY HAD A TECHNICIAN DRIVE IT FOR 500 MILES AND THEY DIDN'T EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE. INCIDENTS WERE AT THE FOLLOWING MILEAGES - DATES: 31190 - MAY 27TH, 2017 34383 - AUGUST 27TH, 2017 APPROXIMATELY 42300 - FEBRUARY 2ND, 2018 51778 - AUGUST 9TH, 2018 52129 - AUGUST 14TH, 2018
I HAVE A 2016 FORESTER WITH YOKOHAMA G91F TIRES AND JUST HAD INSPECTION THEY SAID TIRE TREAD WAS GOOD EXCEPT THE SIDE ARE WORN DOWN SO I REQUIRED NEW TIRE TO PASS. I FOUND MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THIS TIRE ONLINE. THE TIRE IS FOR PASSENGER VEHICLES BUT SAYS IT CAN BE USED ON CROSSOVER AND SUV BUT TALKED WITH SEVERAL TIRE SHOPS THAT ALL RECOMMEND USING SUV SPECIFIC TIRES AS THEY SEE THE SAME ISSUE OVER AND OVER WITH CERTAIN MULTI CATEGORY TIRES LIKE THIS WHERE BECAUSE OF RIDE HEIGHT, VEHICLE WEIGHT AND CENTER OF GRAVITY WHEN ROUNDING CORNERS THESE TIRES GET WORN DOWN REALLY QUICKLY BECAUSE OF IT BEING MORE PASSENGER VEHICLE CENTRIC BECAUSE THE EDGES ARE MORE ROUNDED WHERE AS SUV SPECIFIC TIRES HAVE MORE OF A FLAT BOTTOM AND SQUARE EDGES SO THEY DON'T SLIP. I ALSO BELIEVE THIS IS WHY A LOT OF COMPLAINTS TALK ABOUT POOR PERFORMANCE IN WET WEATHER AS THE SLIP IN CORNERS. THESE ARE STANDARD ON FORESTER AND YOKOHAMA WON'T COVER OEM TIRES AT ALL. I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS INVESTIGATED ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY JUST STARTED SELLING THEIR NEW ASCENT 3 ROW SUV NOT SURE IF IT HAS SAME TIRES. 2016 SUBARU FORESTER XT WITH 57000 MILES. THE CEL CAME ON DURING A 5 MINUTE DRIVE AND STARTED TO STALL. AFTER STOPPING AND STARTING THE CAR, THE ENGINE CONTINUOUSLY SPUTTERED. CEL CAME ON, STABILITY CONTROL DISABLED, TRACTION CONTROL DISABLED, CRUISE CONTROL DISABLED. TO KEEP THE CAR FROM DYING, DRIVER HAD TO REV ENGINE. DRIVER TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE (STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS). CEL WAS RESET AFTER DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE O2 SENSOR. CAR RAN FINE FOR 50 MILES. CEL CAME ON, STABILITY CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL AND CRUISE CONTROL WERE ALL DISABLED. CAR WOULD SKID ON WET SURFACES. CAR WOULD STALL. CAR WOULD LAG ON THE THROTTLE RESPONSE AND THEN ACCELERATE AT A VERY HIGH-RATE, RESULTING IN NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS. RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. BRAKE-LIGHT SENSOR WAS REPLACED FIRST AND CEL RESET. ISSUE APPEARED IMMEDIATELY AFTERWORDS AND ALL FUEL INJECTORS HAD TO REPLACED. DROVE CAR FROM DEALERSHIP AND 1 DAY LATER, SAME PROBLEM APPEARED. DEALERSHIP REPLACED EGR VALVE. DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. AS OF AUGUST 20, 2018, THE CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE AND WITH THE DEALERSHIP UNDERGOING DIAGNOSTICS. ALL INCIDENTS OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION DRIVING ON BOTH A HIGHWAY, CITY STREET, AND MAKING TURNS. THE FAULT HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFULLY IDENTIFIED BUT ALL ATTEMPTS AT RESOLUTION HAVE BEEN ON THE FUEL, THROTTLE, AND EXHAUST SYSTEMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 SUBARU FORESTER. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A FENCE AND A POLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE BUMPER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT BODY SHOP AND THEN TO SUBARU OF ENGLEWOOD (135 SOUTH DEAN STREET, ENGLEWOOD, NJ 07631, (201) 816-6000). THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURES. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED AND LEARNED OF MANY SIMILAR OCCURRENCES, WHICH WERE DUE TO ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS AN EVENT DATA RECORDER THAT THE DEALERS DID NOT HAVE AND THEY WERE INVESTIGATING THE MATTER. THE MANUFACTURER FURTHER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL THE CONTACT IF THEY DECIDE TO SEND THE EQUIPMENT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS HAD TO INCIDENTS OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION THAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO OTHER VEHICLES CAUSING DAMAGE.*JS
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT SPOT AT IDLE SPEED, I LIGHTLY DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD COLLIDING WITH THE VEH PARKED TO MY LEFT. MY VEH JUMPED THE CURB WITH THE FRONT END COMING TO REST ON THE SIDEWALK. I HAVE HAD CONTINUING PROBLEMS WITH THIS SUDDEN SURGING ESPECIALLY WHEN PULLING UP A SLIGHT INCLINE TO ENTER MY GARAGE OR STARTING FROM A STOP. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTON OF SUBARU & TOOK IT TO THEM FOR DIAGNOSIS ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM & FOUND NOTHING ABNORMAL IN IT'S OPERATION. APPARENTLY I AM NOT ALONE IN MY COMPLAINT AS I HAVE READ IN THE DECEMBER 2016 ISSUE OF MOTOR TREND MAGAZINE THAT THEY TOO MENTION THE "JUMPY THROTTLE RESPONSE". I HAVE ALSO READ OF SIMILAR RAPID ACCELERATION COMPLAINTS IN YOUR CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS SECTION WHICH PARALLEL MINE. I HAVE TOLD SUBARU THAT THIS COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS COLLISION & THAT I FEAR THAT COULD HAPPEN. EVEN THOUGH THIS COLLISION & RESULTIG DAMAGE WAS MINOR, I AM THANKFUL THERE WAS NO ONE WALKING ON THE SIDEWALK THAT COULD HAVE BEEN STUCK. PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS SHUTS OFF WHILE PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT WHILE DRIVING. REPORTED TO SUBARU AND WAS TOLD SEAT COVERS AND PHONE CHARGING CABLES MIGHT BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM . UPON FURTHER RESEARCH OTHERS HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OLDER SUBARU MODELS AND SUBARU WILL NOT FIX SO YOU HAVE A 50/50 CHANCE OF YOUR PASSENGER AIR BAG ENGAGING IN A ACCIDENT.
SUBARU IS KNOWINGLY BUILDING ITS CARS WITH FAULTY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SENSORS WHICH WILL RANDOMLY TURN OFF THE AIR BAG WHILE THE PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED UNDER NORMAL LIFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. IT IS IN THE 2016 AND 2017 OWNERS MANUAL THAT IF THERE IS A CELL PHONE OR ELECTRICAL DEVICE IN THE FRONT AREA OF THE CAR THEN THE AIR BAG SENSORS COULD MALFUNCTION. IT ALSO STATES THAT IF YOUR PASSENGER IS WEARING A JACKET OR SWEATER THIS COULD CAUSE THE SENSORS TO TURN THE LIFE SAVING AIR BAG OFF. MY 17 TEENAGER HAD NO ELECTRONICS BUT A SWEATER ON AND IT SHUT OFF AIR BAG WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY. HOW IS THIS LEGAL TO KNOWINGLY SELL A CAR WITH FAULTY SAFETY EQUIPMENT . ATTACHED IS THE PAGES FROM THE 2016 SUBARU FORESTER OWNERS MANUAL.
THIS USED VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A DEALER AS A "GREAT BUY", WITH 74589 MILES ON MAY 23, 2018. LESS THAN ONE WEEK LATER, BELLS AND DINGS BEGAN SOUNDING WHILE DRIVING, LIGHT INDICATORS INDICATED THAT THE SRS SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE CHECKED; THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WAS NOT ON SOMETIMES, OTHER TIMES IT WAS..INTERMITTENT. CAR IN MOTION BOTH ON CITY STREETS AND ON HIGHWAY. NO RECALLS WERE REPORTED AT THAT TIME, AND I NEVER KNEW WHILE DRIVING WHETHER EITHER SIDE SEATBELTS WERE ENGAGED WHEN I KNEW THEY WERE, NOR WHETHER AIRBAGS WERE VIABLE. DANGEROUS FOR DRIVER AND FOR PASSENGER. INDEPENDENT DEALER AND SERVICE DEPARTMENTS WERE PERPLEXED, DEALERSHIPS HAD NO AVAILABLE PARTS.....HERE IT IS, OCT. 2, 2018, OVER 4 MONTHS LATER, AND NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO DEALERS OR AUTHORIZED REPAIR COMPANIES TO COMPLY WITH SAFETY REGULATIONS. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE; SUBARU NEEDS TO PROVIDE PARTS AT NO EXPENSE TO THIS CUSTOMER TO ASSURE SAFETY. MOMENTS LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE NEARBY MOTOR HOME AND HOUSE ALSO CAUGHT ON FIRE AND WERE DESTROYED ALONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
Alternator failed about a year old 2017. Next year battery failed.
Since 2018 we starting noticing random power loss and every time we took vehicle to dealership for maintenance, they could never find an issue. The loss of power began at random as well went up hills. It felt as if there was something blocking the engine from preforming as intended. Maybe poor air flow or turbo lag. We would let go of accelerator because it felt as if the car was going to stall. This power lag or loss would last 5-10 minutes. Then more issues appeared during 2018-2022. The issues were always at random. Issues we witnessed were: loss of power (poor air flow/ bad compression), car seemed to want to stall at stops, weird metal clacking (which we were able to record), bopping car at stops (as a manual car would before stalling). A code was never available for dealership to know the problem at hand. Over the past years we continued to take in the vehicle for the issues we experienced. The dealership never found the root of the problem. The problem continued until 2022 and now the car is inoperable. 400 miles out of warranty and Subaru does not want to fix this issue that had been happening since 2018. I have been waiting for Subaru of America to contact me since 7/22/22. I could never get an answer from case worker. Subaru wants us to pay out of pocket roughly 4500 and then maybe they cover the rest.

I BOUGHT THE CAR OF THERE LOT BRAND NEW IN MAY 2016 I ONLY HAVE 44,000 MILES ON IT NOW.
BROKEN TRANSMISSION DUE TO BROKEN TRANSMISSION BELT AT 43,000 MILES. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. IMMEDIATELY, THERE WAS A HUGE BANG, AND MY CAR ROCKED BACK AND FORTH. I THOUGHT I HAD BEEN REAR ENDED BUT THERE WAS NOBODY BEHIND ME. MY CAR BEGIN TO ROLL BACKWARDS. I TRIED TO GET THE CAR TO DRIVE BY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON AND UTILIZED OTHER TECHNIQUES, BUT I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL NAPLES DEVOE SUBARU DEALER. EIGHT DAYS LATER, THEY CONFIRMED MY SUSPICIONS. MY CAR HAD A BROKEN TRANSMISSION AT 43,000 MILES. THIS COULD'VE ENDED MUCH DIFFERENTLY HAD I BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I NO LONGER BELIEVE MY SUBARU IS A SAFE VEHICLE. SUBARU HAS AGREED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION SINCE THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY WANT TO REPLACE IT WITH A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION RATHER THAN A NEW TRANSMISSION WHICH CARRIES A BETTER WARRANTY. BOTH SUBARU OF AMERICA AND DEVOE SUBARU IN NAPLES HAVE BEEN UNRESPONSIVE, DISMISSIVE, DISRESPECTFUL, AND UNINTERESTED IN FIXING MY CAR IN A TIMELY, PROFESSIONAL MANNER. I WILL NO LONGER OWN A SUBARU. 30+ YEARS OF OWNING CARS WITH MANY OF THEM EXCEEDING 200,000 MILES AND NEVER HAVE I BEEN IN A CAR THAT CARRIED THE RISK OF KILLING ME. PASSENGER AIR BAG DASH BOARD WARNING LIGHT READS "PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF" REGARDLESS OF A PASSENGER BEING IN THE SEAT OR NOT. THIS OCCURS WHILE THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. THE AIRBAG SYSTEM SHUTS OFF WITHOUT CAUSE.
WITH THE CAR COMPLETELY WARMED UP, EITHER A HOT DAY OR A COLD DAY, DOESN'T MATTER, THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE FOR A COUPLE SECONDS WHEN ENTERING TRAFFIC AFTER HAVING PARKED FOR A FEW MINUTES. IN OTHER WORDS, AFTER MAKING A STOP SOMEWHERE AND SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF, AND THEN STARTING IT UP AGAIN AND TRAVELING A BLOCK OR SO, SUDDENLY THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE. YOU MAY BE ENTERING TRAFFIC FLOW AND NEED TO SPEED UP, AND IT WON'T GO. THE DEALER STONEWALLS BY SAYING THE ISSUE CANNOT BE DUPLICATED AND THEREFORE IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM.
BLUETOOTH EQUIPPED SIRIUS RADIO DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY, CAUSING THE OPERATOR TO HAVE TO TUNE THE RADIO MANUALLY, DISTRACTING THE DRIVER FROM CAREFUL OPERATION. I LOVE MOST ASPECTS OF MY SUBARU, HOWEVER, THE TOUCHSCREEN ON THE COUNSEL HAS AN ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLY BLINDING GLARE WHEN THE MOONROOF COVER IS OPEN TO LIGHT. I HAD TO GET A PIECE OF FELT TO PUT OVER THE SCREEN SO THAT WHEN I WANT TO OPEN THE MOONROOF I AM ABLE TO COVER THE TOUCHSCREEN GLASS TO PREVENT A WRECK FROM HAVING LOST ROAD VISIBILITY! I HAVE SINCE VISITED OTHER VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR TOUCHSCREENS - THESE MANUFACTURER MAKE/MODEL TOUCHSCREENS DO NOT HAVE ANY GLARE AT ALL! SINCE FEBRUARY OF 2018, MY VEHICLE HAS REPORTED PROBLEMS AFTER A MAJOR STORM WITH THE EYESIGHT CAMERA SYSTEM, ABS, HILL ASSIST, AND FUEL GAUGE. FYI-EYESIGHT INCLUDES THE DYNAMIC CRUISE CONTROL, CRASH AVOIDANCE, AND LANE MONITORING SYSTEM. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO OUR SUBARU DEALER/MAINTENANCE TEAM BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DISCOVER THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE.
The vehicle constantly shows a warning that passenger seat air bag is OFF while I am sitting in the car riding in that passenger seat. The issue was brought to manufacturer attention multiple times. Videos and pictures of the issue have been recorded for years. The manufacturer refuses to fix the issue and continues to ignore it which places my life at risk every time I drive in that passenger seat of the vehicle.

THE REPLACEMENT PART AND LABOR IS OVER $1000 BECAUSE IT IS INTEGRATED INTO THE SEAT. I CALLED SUBARU AND THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR HALF, HOWEVER THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE SOLUTION. THE AIRBAG SYSTEM ON SUCH A NEW CAR SHOULD BE FULLY FUNCTIONING AND SUBARU SHOULD TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR SUCH A PROBLEM AS THE SENSOR IN THE SEAT SINCE THEY MADE IT SO EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE DUE TO THE INTEGRATION INTO THE SEAT, YOU CAN'T JUST REPLACE THAT ONE SENSOR.

THE WINDSHIELD SEEMS TO BE BRITTLE. ROCK CHIPS DEVELOP INTO LONG CRACKS THAT CONTINUE LENGTHENING WITHIN WEEKS. ROCK CHIPS CANNOT BE REPAIRED WITHOUT FURTHER CRACKING CONTINUING. ONE TECHNICIAN TRIED SIX TIMES TO REPAIR A CRACK. THE WINDSHIELD HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $802.13 AND A CLAIM FILED WITH INSURANCE. WITHIN 14 MONTHS THE WINDSHIELD HAS DEVELOPED A SNACKING CRACK THAT IS CONTINUING TO GROW FROM A ROCK CHIP AGAIN. IT'S CONCERNING THAT ANOTHER INSURANCE CLAIM WILL NEED TO BE FILED AND THAT THE WINDSHIELD CAN NOT WITHSTAND NORMAL ROCK CHIPS. IT IS ALSO CONCERNING HOW THE WINDSHIELD WILL PERFORM IN AN ACCIDENT. ALSO THE REQUIRED WINDSHIELD TO MAINTAIN 'EYESIGHT' IS NOT AFFORDABLE WITHOUT FILING AN INSURANCE CLAIM. THE CHIPS DEVELOP WHEN DRIVING 50-65 MILES AN HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY.

SUBARU MANUFACTURED VENTILATION SYSTEM WITHOUT PROVISION TO SCREEN RODENTS FROM ENTERING CABIN AND PERMITTING THEM TO INFEST THE INTERIOR TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNUSABLE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS WILLING TO CHARGE US TO CLEAN UP THE MESS, BUT WOULD NOT MAKE AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THE UNDERLYING PROBLEM, SO THE PROBLEM REPEATS ITSELF. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, IT HAS COME TO LIGHT THAT SUBARU MANUFACTURED PLASTIC COMPONENTS IN THE CAR WITH SOY, WHICH ACTS AS AN ATTRACTANT TO THE RODENTS. SUBARU HAS ACKNOWLEDGED ZERO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT, WHICH WE FEEL THEY SHOULD RESOLVE DUE TO THE RELATIVELY LOW COST TO SOLVE AN EXPENSIVE PROBLEM. WE EVENTUALLY SCREENED OFF ALL THE OPENINGS OURSELVES, AS WELL AS CLEANED UP THE MESS FROM THE INFESTATION WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO, LEAVING THE REST FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO CLEAN TWICE, FOR WHICH WE HAD TO PAY DEARLY.

THE SERVICE MANAGER ASSURED ME THAT THE PART WOULD BE ORDERED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD BE SCHEDULED FOR REPAIR. AFTER THREE WEEKS WITH NO RESPONSE, I CALLED JOSEPH SUBARU TO ASK ABOUT THE STATUS. HE ASSURED ME ME THAT THE PART HAD BEEN ORDERED ON AUGUST 2 AND THAT I COULD EXPECT THE PART TO BE AVAILABLE AFTER ONE MONTH. THE PART WAS NEVER MADE AVAILABLE. I CONTACTED SUBARU OF AMERICA ON OCTOBER 2, 2017 TO REGISTER A COMPLAINT. I GOT NO RESPONSE. I CONTACTED SUBARU ELECTRONICALLY ON OCTOBER 23, 2017. I RECEIVED A CLAIM NUMBER SR #:1-27120984562. IT IS NOW DECEMBER 6, 2017 AND I HAVE RECEIVED NO REPAIR AND NO CLARIFICATION. NO ONE HAS MADE ANY EFFORT TO CORRECT THE FAULT. IT IS A HAZARD TO ME AND ANY RIDERS IN MY VEHICLE.
