MULTIPLE DEAD BATTERIES OVER PAST YEAR. WHEN REAR LIFT GATE IS LEFT OPEN FOR LESS THEN AN HOUR WITH ALL LIGHTS INCLUDING INTERIOR OFF IT DRAINS BATTERY. 2019 LIFT GATE MODULE RECALLED DUE TO 'DARK DRAW' BUT DIDN'T INCLUDE EARLIER 2020 MODELS WHICH DID NOT HAVE NEW MODULE INCORPORATED YET. PLEASE INVESTIGATE TO INCLUDE THE EARLY 2020 MODELS IN RECALL. THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE AND IS A HAZARD TO BE LEFT STRANDED OVER SUCH AN EASY FIX THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN INCORPORATED IN THE 2019 MODELS WITH THE RECALL ... MY CAR IS IN THAT 'GREY AREA' ONLY CAUSE IT IS NOT A 2019 BUT BEFORE THE FIX WAS ADDRESSED ON THE 2020 YEAR.
I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL CRACKS IN THE WINDSHIELD OF MY 2020 SUBARU FORESTER. I FIRST NOTICED A SMALL CRACK ON THE UPPER DRIVERS SIDE. I HAVE NOW SEEN MULTIPLE CRACKS THAT DO NOT APPEAR TO HAVE AN ORIGINATION POINT OF IMPACT FROM AN OBJECT. ADDITIONALLY I HAVE A CRACK THAT IT FORMING IN THE AREA OF THE CAMERAS FOR THE EYESIGHT WHICH MAY LEAD TO DEGRADATION OR FAILURE OF THE EQUIPMENT TO OPERATE PROPERLY. THE EVENT THAT CAUSED THE CRACKS IS UNKNOWN.
Driving at low speed heard a slight noise. Didn’t see any damage but the windshield cracked. Within about 2 minutes the crack spread approximately 3 inches. Within another couple minutes the crack extended vertically and then turned horizontally running another 10 inches. I have never had a crack occur and extend in this matter. Replacement and calibration of Isight technology according to satellite and the dealer costs are around 1900 dollars.
I JUST WALKED OUT TO MY CAR PARKED IN MY DRIVE WAY THERE WAS A HUGE CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD I HAVEN'T HIT OR BEEN HIT BY ANYTHING THIS IS A NEW CAR HAVEN'T EVEN HAD A A YEAR YET DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY WINDSHIELD WOULD CRACK SO BAD GOES FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD
GIANT CRACK HAS APPEARED ON WINDSHIELD LESS THAT 12K MILES OF DRIVING. THERE IS A SMALL CHIP FROM A FEW DAYS AGO THAT HAS FORMED INTO A LARGER CRACK.
MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED. NO APPARENT CHIPS, OR DINGS. SEEMS TO COME FROM THE DEFROST AREA OF THE WINDSHIELD UNDER THE RUBBER GASKET.
I TRAVELLED TO WORK AND THE WINDSHIELD FORMED A CRACK ON THE UPPER LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD (DRIVER'S SIDE). IT STARTS AT THE CORNER AND PROCEEDS (SO FAR) TO BE 1.5 FEET LONG. THERE WERE NO ONCOMING VEHICLES OR VEHICLES THAT I WAS FOLLOWING. IT WAS A LEFT HAND TURN, LOW SPEED.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED, STARTED BELOW WIPER IN THE MIDDLE OF GLASS, CRACK ABOUT 8 INCHES PERPENDICULAR TO THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING ABOUT 20 MILES PER HOUR IN THE RAIN TURNED ON DEFROSTER AND SAW THE CRACK.
The contact owns a 2020 Subaru Forester. The contact stated that the battery was continually being drained and needed to be recharged frequently. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer however, a cause for the failure was not determined. The dealer recharged the battery. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure with electrical system defects which consistently drained the battery. The contact recharged the battery after each time the vehicle was driven. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000.
THE WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED
WINDSHIELD LITERALLY CRACKED FROM ONE SIDE TO THE MIDDLE FROM A SMALL PEBBLE (THE FIRST PEBBLE I'VE HAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD). I JUST GOT THIS CAR, BARELY EVEN BROKEN IN AT 7,000 MILES. THE SAFETY FEATURES FROM EYESIGHT DON'T WORK PROPERLY AFTER THIS WHICH POSES A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE OUR HOME DRIVEWAY ON FRIDAY, APRIL 2ND, 2021 (APPROXIMATELY 4PM LOCAL TIME), THE IGNITION BUTTON FAILED TO START THE CAR. INITIALLY, POWER WAS RUNNING TO THE DASH. I CALLED THE SUBARU EASTSIDE DEALERSHIP IN KIRKLAND, WA WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. THEY TOLD ME TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, WHICH I DID THE FOLLOWING MORNING. WHEN MY WIFE AND I MOVED OUR CAR SEAT AND BELONGINGS TO THE OTHER CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE REAR LIFT GATE STARTED TO MALFUNCTION AND WOULD NOT OPEN (RESULTING IN A REPEATED 3 BEEP SOUND), BLOCKING ACCESS TO MY JUMPER CABLES, WHICH WERE IN THE TRUNK. EVENTUALLY, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STOPPED RESPONDING ALL TOGETHER. WHEN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE (SENT OUT BY SUBARU ROADSIDE) EVENTUALLY SHOWED UP THE FOLLOWING MORNING, A JUMP START BY THE TECHNICIAN STARTED THE VEHICLE.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - The original battery on our 2020 Subaru Forester died after some repairs related to getting rear ended. The battery died for the first time in March 2021, 8 months after we purchased the car with around 5500 miles on it. That battery was replaced with a brand new Subaru battery. The battery has died 3 times since being replaced. The current battery is available for inspection. In addition to the battery dying, we have recently noticed two situations where the rear hatch has not properly latched. I have a video of the rear hatch trying to latch and popping back open over and over again. I've only noticed this twice, but the first time I noticed this I realize we had been driving with the rear hatch open and our dog could have been put in serious risk if the rear hatch opened. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Issues with the battery dying multiple times puts me at risk of being stranded. The issue of the rear hatch means that anything that is placed in the rear of the vehicle may not be properly secured and could potentially fly out of the vehicle if the unlatched rear hatch opens while driving. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The original dead battery was initially identified by a body shop. The dealer was not able to find anything wrong with the vehicle upon first inspection, but we are going to take it in again. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected by a body shop (recommended by our insurance) and the dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The only symptom we are able to routinely detect is a low voltage on our battery, which we believe indicates a parasitic draw.
I WAS DRIVING UP AN EMPTY SUBURBAN ROAD AT 25 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES SUDDENLY WENT OFF, CAUSING THE CAR TO SKID TO A STOP. THE DASHBOARD SCREEN SAID THE PRE-COLLISION EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE ROAD AND NO REASON FOR THE CAR TO STOP SUDDENLY. THANK GOD I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY - THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
WINDSHIELD JUST CRACKED DOWN THE MIDDLE OUT OF THE BLUE. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK IN THE MORNING AN ON COMING LIGHT REFLECTED OF MY WINDSHIELD ODDLY. I LOOKED AT IT CLOSER AT A STOP TO SEE A CRACK STARTING FROM THE TOP OF THE GLASS GOING RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE EYESIGHT CAMERAS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2020 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE INSPECTED. THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 18,300.
WINDSHIELD EXPERIENCED A VERY MINOR IMPACT FROM A SMALL PIECE OF GRAVEL, IMMEDIATELY RESULTING IN A SMALL CHIP. WITHIN 24 HOURS, THE CHIP HAD BECOME A LARGE CRACK THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. WINDSHIELD GLASS ON SUBARU FORESTER IS THIN AND BRITTLE, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE.
VERY SMALL OBJECT HIT WINDSHIELD NEAR EDGE OF WINDSHIELD WHERE BLACK COAT AND CLEAR GLASS MEET. A ROUGHLY 12" CRACK IMMEDIATELY APPEARED. I WAS DRIVING ON A TOLLWAY WHEN THE OBJECT HIT THE GLASS.
I SEEN THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST SUBARU REGARDING THE VEHICLES EYESIGHT SYSTEM AND THE WINDSHIELD. WE NOTICED A CRACK THAT HAD SEEMINGLY COME OUT OF NOWHERE. IT HAS TO OF HAPPENED WHILE IT WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. I WAS LOOKING INTO REPLACING THE WINDSHIELD MYSELF WHEN I STUMBLED ON THE ARTICLE. APPARENTLY MANY SUBARU OWNERS ARE DEALING WITH SPONTANEOUS CRACKING AND MY CRACK STARTED RIGHT IN THE AREA PERTAINING TO THE LAWSUIT.
I HAD MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED UP BY SMALL IMPACT OF FLYING ROCK OFF A TRUCK IN 2020. I GOT IT REPLACED AND CALIBRATED IN JULY 2020 THE PRICE WAS $1456. LUCKILYI BOUGHT A WINDSHIELD PROTECTION POLICY TO COVER IT. AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED UP(30 CM LONG) AGAIN YESTERDAY(MARCH,2021) DUE TO THE SAME REASON. I REALLY CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THAT MUCH MONEY TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD( MY POLICY CAN ONLY PAY ABOUT $300).
BATTERY WAS DRAINED FOR NO REASON AND CAR WOULD NOT START. WHEN TRIED TO START DASH LIGHTS ETC., WENT CRAZY. GAUGE FOR TACHOMETER AND SPEED WHIPPED FROM SIDE TO SIDE, LIGHTS FLASHED ON AND OFF. THE STARTER GAVE THE CLICKING NOISE YOU HEAR WHEN BATTERY IS DEAD. CALLED AAA TO JUMP AND THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO START. I CHARGED BATTERY OVERNIGHT AND THE ENGINE STARTED. TOOK CAR TO DEALER THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY OR CHARGING SYSTEM. THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THIS HAPPENED. I PURCHASED A BATTERY TENDER TO MAINTAIN CHARGE IN BATTERY. I ONLY HAVE 1 CAR AND IT NEEDS TO START WHEN I NEED IT. THIS HAPPENED ON DAY I NEEDED TO TAKE WIFE FOR COVID VACCINE SHOT.
My front windshield cracked without having an object hit it. I had it inspected and repaired by satellite auto glass per my warranty. I was made to pay eyesight calibration out of pocket.
BOTH MY WIFE AND I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH HAS LESS THAN 5,000 MILES ON IT. THE LOW GAS INDICATOR IS LIMITED TO A BRIEF WARNING IN THE SCREEN BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL. WE BOTH FIND THIS VERY EASY TO MISS AND THERE IS NO PERSISTENT VISUAL OR AUDITORY WARNING. RUNNING OUT OF GAS UNEXPECTEDLY IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD, WE WERE LUCKY TO AVOID BEING REAR ENDED, BUT HAD TO PARK AT SOME RISK. NEITHER OF US CAN RECALL RUNNING OUT OF GAS IN OUR OTHER VEHICLES FOR OVER 20 YEARS.
OUT OF NOWHERE, THE WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK THAT STARTED AT THE TOP AND IS SPREADING DOWN. THERE IS NO CHIP THAT STARTED THIS. WE HAVE 2 NEWER SUBARUS AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH CARS WITHIN A MONTH. THERE IS NOTHING THAT WE KNOW OF THAT CAUSED THIS. ONLINE WE ARE SEEING THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH NEWER SUBARUS AND WINDSHIELDS CRACKING.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED DUE TO NO APPARENT CAUSE - NO COLLISION, NO ROCK HITTING IT. IT SIMPLY APPEARED OVERNIGHT.
I bought a 2020 Subaru in March of 2020. I had reported an issue with the seat to the dealer Orange Coast Subaru and they had failed to diagnose or repair the issue. The issue was brought up to them several times and they only came to the car and looked quickly at the seat and told me it is fine without any in debt diagnostics. Looking and sitting in a seat wasn't in any shape or form diagnostics of the seat. Nobody looked under the seat or did a inspection beyond just looking and seating on it. Over the years the seat became woobly, unstable, it has cracked. I went for another issue to another dealer this time, Timmons of Long Beach, and paid a diagnostics fee to be told the frame needs to be replaced and it is a safety issue and has to be done asap. I had reached out to Subaru who advised the car is out of warranty. I pointed back to that the issue was reported to them and they said if it was not diagnosed as a failure then then it is unrelated to the issue found now. The seat is unsafe and it can result to injuries to myself and my son. Subaru doesn't want to take responsibility for it. The car has never been in an accident.
6 MONTH OLD VEHICLE SUDDENLY HAVE CRACK ON WINDSHIELD. REPORTED THE ISSUE TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT IS DUE TO IMPACT - CAR IS PARKED UNDER A CARPORT, DID NOT AND/OR GOT HIT BY ANYTHING THE DAY BEFORE, AND HAVE 12 INCHES CRACK ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD THE DAY AFTER.
DRIVING ON STRAIGHT MULTI-LANE HIGHWAY ~2:00 PM IN THE DAYTIME AT ~55 MPH; CLEAR, DRY WEATHER, DRY ROAD. NO VEHICLES OR OBSTRUCTIONS OF ANY KIND IN FRONT OF VEHICLE, FORTUNATELY NO VEHICLES BEHIND. AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM TRIGGERED FULLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING, BRINGING CAR TO SUDDEN STOP IN HIGH SPEED TRAVEL LANE; COULD HAVE CAUSED SEVERE REAR END COLLISION HAD THERE BEEN ANYONE BEHIND. ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE UNTIL AFTER SHIFTING INTO PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE. SUBARU COULD FIND NO REASON FOR ERRONEOUS SUDDEN STOP FUNCTION.
I CAME OUT TO THE CAR AND THERE IS A LARGE FOOT LONG PLUS CRACK FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD UP ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT DEVELOPED OUT OF NOWHERE.
THE FUEL FILL UP ARROW POINTS TO THE WRONG SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, IT POINTS LEFT, THE FILL UP IS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF VEHICLE
I BOUGHT THIS CAR 2 WEEKS AGO WITH 1,950 MILES AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITH NO REASON. I DON'T KNOW WHY OR HOW THAT HAPPENED. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR FIRST BECAUSE I HAVE A BROKEN WINDSHIELD AND SECOND BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY THAT WINDSHIELD IS WEAK OR LACKING OF SAFETY.
Within a few months my 2020 Subaru forester windshield is riddled with multiple (4) chips and cracks. Being that I've driven the same roads with a different car for years with no issues, and my car only had 1,000 miles at the time of the crack and 3,000 during the second crack, I believe my windshield is faulty and prone to damage. There were no sound indications or objects hitting it, it cracked from the side and spread all the way across the windshield. I've gone through proper channels to no avail-- submitted a BBB claim with no answer and told my local Chico subaru dealership and they were no help.
I PURCHASED MY 2020 SUBARU FORESTER IN 6/2020, AND BY 2/2021 THE WINDSHIELD HAD CHIPPED. I WENT TO GET IT FIXED, AND IT JUST CRACKED EVEN MORE, ACCORDING TO THE GLASS TECH AT SAFELITE. I WAS TOLD THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING VERY FREQUENTLY WITH MODERN SUBARUS AND TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I DIDN'T NOTICE THE INITIAL DAMAGE UNTIL THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY.
A SMALL CHIP ON THE BLACK EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD OCCURRED THE END OF FEBRUARY, THEN IT TURNED INTO AN 18' LONG CRACK ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD WITHIN A FEW HOURS ON A ROAD TRIP.
A CRACK GREATER THAN 12 INCHES ON THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOTED . THERE WAS NO INCIDENT THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THIS CRACK.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, MY WINDSHIELD MADE A POP NOISE AND A FOOT LONG CRACK APPEARED A FEW MINUTES LATER. THERE WAS NO OBJECT THAT HIT THE WINDSHIELD NOR ANY VISIBLE DEBRIS ON THE ROAD. CAME OUTSIDE, TURNED THE CAR ON AND NOTICED A HUGE DOUBLE CRACK DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. FOOT ON BRAKE IN PARKING SPOT. THEN VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN.
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A 6 INCH VERTICAL CRACK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AT THE TIME AND THERE WAS NO KNOWN CAUSE OF THE CRACK. THE CRACK DEVELOPED SPONTANEOUSLY WITHOUT ANY OBJECT STRIKING THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK THEN ENLARGED ON ITS OWN AS IT WAS BEING DRIVEN HOME.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED UNEXPECTEDLY FOR NO REASON. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY - PARKED, WHEN THIS OCCURRED, AND WILL BE EXPENSIVE ($1000+) TO FIX
LAST NIGHT ON 02/19/2021 I PARKED MY VEHICLE AT HOME IN THE DRIVEWAY, AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS FINE. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE, NOTHING HIT MY CAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING LAST NIGHT. THIS MORNING WHEN I WENT TO GO TO WORK, I NOTICED A LARGE CRACK THAT APPEARED, APPROXIMATELY 12 INCHES IN LENGTH. THE CRACK HAD DEVELOPED APPARENTLY ON ITS OWN, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE CRACK CONTINUED TO SPREAD WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK OVER THE COURSE OF 30 MINUTES, AND IS NOW APPROXIMATELY 24 INCHES IN LENGTH.
RETURNED TO MY CAR AFTER OVERNIGHT SITTING IN DRIVE WAY AND A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD APPEARED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. IT STARTED AT THE BASE, RAN UP ABOUT 5", TURNED TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE CAR AND SO FAR HAS RUN ABOUT 15" AND IS ADVANCING. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF IMPACT. THE VEHICLE HAS 5069 MILES ON IT AS OF 02-26-21.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER LESTER GLENN SUBARU (1501 NJ-37 W, TOMS RIVER, NJ 08755, (888) 785-0675) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE FRONT WINDSHIELD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2020 SUBARU FORESTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION AS ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED HEAD ON INTO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED LACERATION, BRUSHING ON BOTH LEGS. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS CONTACTED AND HAD TAKEN THE CONTACTS HUSBAND TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS TREATED FOR HIS INJURIES. THE CONTACTS HUSBAND WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY AN INDEPENDENT TOWING COMPANY TO A BODY SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS WAITING RESULTS FOR DAMAGES. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,500.
2/17/2021 - HONDA ACCORD GOING NORTH ON LYNCHBURG TURNPIKE RAN A STOPLIGHT (GOING ABOUT 30 IN A 25 MPG ZONE) TRYING TO TURN WEST ONTO EAST MAIN ST. IN SALEM, VA ... BOUNCED OPPOSITE CURB, CUT WEST AND SWERVED (OVERSTEER) AND CAME HEAD ON INTO MY STATIONARY 2020 FORESTER. OUR LIGHT HAD JUST TURNED GREEN AND WE WERE ABOUT TO MOVE FORWARD WHEN THE HONDA CAME OUT INTO THE INTERSECTION. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND I WAS A PASSENGER. I WAS TAKEN TO ER AND SEEN BY SEVERAL DOCTORS AND AM UNDERGOING PT FOR THE NEXT 5 WEEKS.
WENT TO START CAR AFTER BEING PARKED FOR 3 HOURS. DOORS OPENED WITH FOB BUT KEYLESS IGNITION WOULD NOT START CAR AND ALL IDIOT LIGHTS CAME ON LOCKING STEERING WHEEL, BRAKES, GAS PEDAL, ETC. SUBARU SERVICE CAME AND JUMPED CAR; NOT SURE IF FOB HAD DIED; CAR ONLY 11 MONTHS OLD, UNDER 9000 MILES. TEMPERATURE IN HIGH 20'S, LOW 30'S. KEYLESS IGNITION HAD BEEN WONKY EARLIER IN WEEK AND CAR HESITATED TO GET STARTED. EYESIGHT TURNED OFF BRIEFLY ON DRIVE HOME AFTER CAR WAS STARTED BY JUMPSTART.
WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK. NO KNOWN EVEN SUCH AS A DEBRIS STRIKE WAS OCCURRED. CRACK WAS FIRST NOTICED WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED.
THE LINKAGE CABLE BETWEEN THE DRIVERS' FRONT INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE AND THE DOOR LATCHING MECHANISM BECAME UNHOOKED SOMEHOW DURING NORMAL USAGE, RENDERING THE DOOR INOPERABLE FROM THE INTERIOR. SIMPLY REMOVING THE INTERIOR TRIM FROM THE DOOR AND REATTACHING THE LINKAGE FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT UNTIL THEN THE DOOR WAS ONLY USEABLE FROM THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED EASILY. WHILE DRIVING ON A MAINTAINED CITY STREET, I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE VERY SMALL ROCK OR PIECE OF DEBRIS HIT THE WINDSHIELD AND IMMEDIATELY A 2 FOOT CRACK APPEARED ON THE WINDSHIELD EXTENDING FROM THE UPPER AND OUTER EDGE OF THE PASSENGER SIDE ACROSS TOWARDS THE MIDDLE. I WAS DISTANCED BEHIND A COMPACT SUV. FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE NO INITIAL DAMAGE POINT WAS VISIBLE, ONLY THE CRACK. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, I FOUND A SHALLOW PEN POINT SIZE DIVOT ON THE CRACK NEAR THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD.
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON-FOUND TODAY WHEN CAR WAS STATIONARY.
