I HAVE HAD 4 CRACKED WINDSHIELDS THAT HAVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ONE YEARS TIME. NO WINDSHILED HAS MADE IT LONGER THAN 5 MONTHS, TWO ONLY LASTED ABOUT 6 WEEKS. I HAVE REPLACED ALL WITH OEM GLASS. LAST THREE INCIDENCE WERE FOR UNKNOWN CAUSE TO ME. I PURCHASED MY CAR 10/12/19 . FIRST WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED 12/19, SECOND 5/20, THEN 7/20, AND AGAIN 12/20
MY CAR IS LESS THAN 1 YEAR OLD AND ONLY HAS 3200 MILES. THE BATTERY HAS DIED TWICE IN THAT TIME AND NEEDED TO BE JUMPED. LAST TIME WAS FEB 23 2021
On one of my first times driving my new car to work on my morning commute I was traveling at a normal rate of speed and with a lot of distance from the car in front of me I heard a crack and saw the windshield beginning to show signs of a straight crack. That was December 15, 2020. Now on May 19, 2021 I have a crack from the far right side of the windshield and runs to the initial location, about 70% across my windshield.
AFTER A 650 MILE DRIVE WITH NO IMPACTS TO WINDSHIELD OR PERCEPTIBLE CRACKS, PARKED THE CAR OVERNIGHT. IN THE MORNING, A CRACK HAD DEVELOPED FROM THE LOWER DRIVER SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD MOVING UP AND TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. WITH NO FURTHER DRIVING, THE CRACK CONTINUED TO GROW TOWARD THE PASSENGER SIDE, SPLITTING INTO TWO CRACKS. THE SPONTANEOUS CRACK IS IN THE EYELINE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THE CRACK FORMED AND HAS BEEN STATIONARY AS THE CRACK HAS GROWN. SEE PICTURES. WIFE REPORTED CAR STALLED WHEN MAKING A TURN AFTER STOPPING. WHILE TURNING SHE SAID IT FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS NOT GETTING ANY GAS AND HAD NO POWER. SHE LET THE VEHICLE ROLL TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHE SAID IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS FOR THE CAR TO START BACK UP. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES TODAY DURING A TRIP TO THE DENTIST IN THE CITY OF LYNCHBURG, VIRGINIA. I CALLED TERRY SUBARU OF LYNCHBURG WHEN SHE GOT HOME AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN TOMORROW TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT.
WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED. ABOUT A 12 - 14 INCH CRACK AROUND THE WINDSHIELD TOP-CENTER. THERE WAS NO IMPACT. THIS HAPPENED OVERNIGHT WHILE SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY.
I BELIEVE THAT THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED SPONTANEOUSLY. I DROVE TO GET COFFEE THIS MORNING. IN THE PARKING LOT I NOTICED A 10 INCH CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT HADN'T BEEN THERE BEFORE. TO MY KNOWLEDGE NOTHING HAS HIT THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACK WASN'T THERE YESTERDAY. THERE WAS SNOW IN THE CAR THIS MORNING. I'M WONDERING IF TURNING THE INTERIOR HEATER HAD ANYTHING FUN DO WITH IT. IT'S CURRENTLY 32 DEGREES OUTSIDE. THERE ISN'T A MARK IN THE WINDSHIELD EXCEPT FOR THE CATCH WHICH SEEMS TO ORIGINATE AT THE BASE OF THE WINDSHIELD. THERE ISN'T A ROCK MARK OR ANYTHING ELSE. I'VE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR A A COUPLE OF MONTHS.
ACCORDING TO WISCONSIN'S LEMON LAW, THE VEHICLE THAT I OWN MEETS WI'S LEMON: * I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR(ONLY 4 MILES WERE IN IT) * FROM DAY 2 (AFTER PURCHASING), THE CARPLAY MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN AN ON-GOING ISSUE AND NEVER SOLVED. DEFECT WITHIN A YEAR AND THE CAR IS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY. * DEALER FAILED 5 TIMES TO FIX THE SAME ISSUE. I PAID 50K FOR THE VEHICLE NOVEMBER, 2019 WHICH IS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY YET THE PROBLEM IS NOT BEING RECTIFIED. OVER A YEAR LONG BATTLE, I AM STUCK WITH BROKEN CAR. SERVICE MANAGER FROM THE DEALER ADMITTED THAT THEY ARE NOT GETTING ENOUGH SUPPORT FROM CORP WHICH LED SOFTWARE UPDATE DOES NOT WORK. A FEW TIMES, I ALMOST RARE ENDED THE FRONT OF CAR DUE TO CARPLAY MALFUNCTION. WOULD YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS?
ON OCTOBER 11, 2020 THE CAR BATTERY DIED. I GOT A JUMP FROM SUBARU SERVICE ON 10/12/20 AND BROUGHT IT TO SUBARU STAMFORD FOR SERVICE. THE TAILGATE OPEN/CLOSE SWITCH WAS STUCK IN THE ON POSITION AND MAY HAVE CAUSED THE BATTERY TO DRAIN. THE SWITCH WAS REPLACED. ON 12/6/20 THE CAR BATTERY DIED AGAIN. I GOT A JUMP FROM SUBARU SERVICE AND THEN DROVE THE CAR FOR 20 MINUTES. ONE HOUR LATER THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. ON 12/7/20 I JUMPED THE BATTERY AND TOOK IT TO SUBARU STAMFORD FOR SERVICE. THE MECHANIC CHECKED ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AND FOUND NO ISSUES. I ASKED TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED WHICH WAS DONE. NOTE THAT THESE TWO INCIDENTS OCCURRED WHILE I LIVED AT 171 COURTLAND AVE, STAMFORD, CT. I AM MOVING PERMANENTLY TO LONGMONT COLORADO ON 12/13/20.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY AND A LARGE CRACK, APPROXIMATELY 12 INCHES IN LENGTH, APPEARED FOLLOWING IMPACT WITH A VERY, VERY SMALL PIECE OF DEBRIS, 1 CM MAX DIAMETER. NEAR IMMEDIATELY A SECOND PIECE OF DEBRIS, ALSO 1 CM MAX DIAMETER, CAUSED AN 8 INCH CRACK IN LENGTH ON IMPACT WEATHER WAS WARMER THAN USUAL THAT WEEK, COMPARED TO PRECEDING DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS CHANGING LANES WHEN THIS HAPPENED. NEVER HAD AN ISSUE LIKE THIS WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE.
THE BATTERY STARTED FAILING AFTER LESS THAN 8000 MILES ON THE CAR THAT IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. IT LEFT US STRANDED MULTIPLE TIMES AND JUMP START WAS REQUIRED. ONCE UPON JUMP STARTING THE CAR THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT FUNCTIONAL. MULTIPLE TIMES THE AIRBAG FAILURE INDICATOR STAYED ON FOR THE ENTIRE TRIP. INITIALLY IT WAS NOT CLEAR TO ME WHAT IS GOING ON AS THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WENT HAYWIRE AND THE CAR WAS PRODUCING A CLATTERING NOISE INSTEAD OF THE USUAL STARTING NOISE. EVENTUALLY I TESTED THE BATTERY AND IT BECAME EVIDENT THAT IT FAILED. THERE ARE MANY SUCH REPORTS ON THE INTERNET AND ALSO CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AGAINST SUBARU DUE TO THEIR FAILURE TO ADDRESS THE UNDERLYING DESIGN FLAWS OF THE CAR. I HOPE THAT THE NHTSA WILL FORCE SUBARU TO PROPERLY ANALYZE THE PROBLEM, COME UP WITH A PROPER FIX AND ISSUE A RECALL TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE WITH OBVIOUS SAFETY ASPECTS.
TODAY 12-3-20 WE WERE DRIVING ON I-95 IN FLORIDA TO SEE MY SON FOR THE 1ST TIME IN OVER A YEAR (AIR FORCE). SMALL ROAD PARTICLES WERE STIRRED UP FROM THE ROAD, (NOT ANYTHING LARGE, YOU BARELY HEARD IT HIT THE WINDSHIELD, ALMOST LIKE SAND) AND THEN WE HEARD A CRACKING SOUND, LOOKED AT OUR WINDSHIELD AND THERE IS ABOUT A 9 INCH CRACK ALL OF THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM TOWARD WIPERS, UP TOWARDS THE TOP. I'M 40 YEARS OLD AND HAVE NEVER HAD A WINDSHIELD CRACK, MUST LESS LIKE THIS OVER SUCH ROAD SMALL PARTICLES. ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, I WAS DRIVING ON I85 TO WORK, AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED BUT I CHALKED IT UP TO MAYBE THE DEBRIS WAS LARGER THAN I THOUGHT. TODAY MY HUSBAND, SON, AND NIECE WERE SIN THE CAR WITH ME...AND FRANKLY I AM CONCERNED THAT IF ANYTHING LARGE EVER HITS THIS WINDSHIELD, IT WILL SHATTER, OR THE ITEM WILL COME THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. SO I DO. IT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR THIS VERY REASON. A WINDSHIELD IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT AND I AM NOT CONFIDENT OR CONVINCED AT THIS POINT AT ALL THAT THIS ONE ON MY 2020 OUTBACK WOULD STAND A CHANCE AT ANY MIDSIZE ROAD HAZARD. BEFORE UPGRADING TO THE OUTBACK, I HAD A 2016 CROSSTREK AND HAD A 'LARGE ROCK' HIT MY WINDSHIELD, WHEN IT DID IT SCARED ME IT HIT SO HARD....ALL THAT WAS LEFT AFTER THAT MASSIVE RICK HIT WAS A SMALL HALF MOON SHAPED CHIP. THIS 2020 OUTBACK COULD IN NO WAY TAKE AN IMPACT LIKE THAT ONE. IT COULD SEVERELY HURT ME OR WHOMEVER IS DRIVING, INCLUDING MY 16 YEAR OLD SON IF THE WINDSHIELD WERE TO SHATTER IF IT IS HIT AGAIN. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED. FOR SUBARU, ALL ABOUT SAFETY, IT IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT AS A LOYAL SUBARU OWNER HAS ME QUESTIONING THE MISSION STATEMENTS AND HEARTFELT COMMERCIALS THAT WE SEE DAILY. MAKE IT RIGHT SUBARU. FIX IT!!
YESTERDAY MORNING (CAR IS PARKED), I DISCOVERED A CRACK THAT IS ABOUT 4 INCHES LONG ON MY WINDSHIELD AND HAVE GOTTEN LONGER THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND TODAY. CURRENTLY, IT IS ABOUT 26 INCHES ACROSS THE MIDDLE. I LIVE IN AN APARTMENT AND HAVE PERSONAL PARKING WHERE ARE THERE OPEN PARKING AND NOT PARKED UNDER A TREE OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD HAVE FALLEN ON THE WINDSHIELD. THERE ARE NO SPIDERWEB CRACK OR SIGNS (LIKE A ROCK BEING THROWN..ETC) THAT WOULD INDICATE THE WINDSHIELD TO CRACK. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY NOR WAS IT RECALLED; EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NUMEROUS CASES I'VE FOUND ONLINE THAT MANY 2020 OUTBACK OWNERS (AND OTHER SUBARU OWNERS) HAVE EXPERIENCED CRACKED WINDSHIELD FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ON 29FEB2020; THERE IS NO WAY THAT A WINDSHIELD WOULD CRACK SO SUDDENLY UNLESS IT WAS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY OR DEFECTIVE/DUE TO HEATING ELEMENT.
MY 2ND SUBARU OUTBACK IN 3.5 YEARS, AND IT IS THE 3RD TIME I HAVE TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD (?!) THIS TIME IT IS ONLY IN 4 MONTHS OLD CAR, 2020 MODEL. I WAS NOT EVEN DRIVING WHEN I NOTICED THE WINDSHIELD CRACK POPPING UP - I WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOME, JUST STARTED THE CAR TO WARM IT UP. LOWER SECTION IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT, SLIGHTLY TOWARDS THE CENTER. I INSPECTED THE AREA ON THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD WHERE IT APPEARED THE FIRST - NO APPARENT IMPACT OF THE ROCK OR SOME OTHER FLYING OBJECT. IT SEEMS LIKE THE GAP ON THE CRACK IS ABOUT 1/2 MM WIDE - LIKE THE PRESSURE FROM THE INSIDE IS TO BLAME FOR THE CRACK? (SEE THE PICTURES). OTHER PEOPLE I KNOW THAT OWN (OR HAVE OWNED) OUTBACKS ALSO HAD THEIR WINDSHIELD CRACKING. I GOOGLED IT ' I SEE THE INFORMATION ABOUT CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THE WEB. DID NOT DRIVE CAR FOR 2 WEEKS, BATTERY DEAD.
Within 2 months of purchase 2020 Outback the car's Infotainment center has continually malfunctioned including times when the car's backup camera is displayed while the car is in drive and moving forward. Eye-sight constantly disabled as well is infotainment center constantly blacking out and then resetting itself while car is in motion. Constant beepind telling driver to look at road - all especially in inclement weather. Car is unsafe. I have multiple videos showing this but they are too big to upload here.
VEHICLE PURCHASED IN MARCH. HAVE BEEN DRIVING LESS DUE TO COVID. LAST TRIP WAS OCTOBER 15TH FOR 6 MONTH BABY APPOINTMENT. FOUND THAT CAR WOULDN'T START AND ELECTRONICS NOT WORKING ON NOVEMBER 26TH. SUSPECT DEAD BATTERY AND READ ONLINE ABOUT OUTBACK ELECTRONIC ISSUES.
CAR WON'T START. FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS AT 4000 MILES. CHANGED POSITION OF SHIFT LEVER TO N AND P UNTIL ABLE TO GET STARTED. WENT TO DEALER TO HAVE BATTERY CHECKED BUT THEY SAID IT WAS OK. NOW AT 6000 MILES COMPLETELY DEAD IN GARAGE. CAR HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR 3 OR 4 DAYS. HAVING IT TOWED TO DEALER.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY WINDSHIELD JUST CRACKED.
I PICKED UP MY CAR , DRIVE IT HOME (227 MILES) ON 11/24/2020. THE NEXT MORNING THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND I WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE HATCHBACK. WE CHARGED THE BATTERY, SHOWED FULLY CHARGED BUT WOULD NOT START. JUMP STARTED IT, DROVE IT 10 MILES ( ON OK FROM SUBARU SALESMAN) THE ENTIRE TIME IT SHOWED ENGINE LIGHT ON AND EMERGENCY BRAKE ON ( THE BRAKE HAS BEEN RELEASED) AND THE SAFETY OPTIONS WERE DISABLED. THIS MORNING THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. SO FAR, THE INLY RESPONSE FROM THE SALESMAN AND SERVICE DEPT IS THAT THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE. I WAS PROMISED THEY WOULD RESEARCH THE PROBLEM AND CALL US, SO FAR HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THEM.
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE (64) AND GOT A SMALL CHIP (ABOUT THE SIZE OF MY PINKY NAIL) FROM A ROCK/ PEBBLE IN LOWER LEFT AREA OF WINDSHIELD. PARKED THE CAR AT HOME. CHIP WAS STABLE. THE NEXT MORNING THE CHIP NOW HAS A CRACK ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD HORIZONTALLY ABOUT TWO THIRDS OF THE WAY. THE DEALERSHIP (CASEY SUBARU) HAS REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD. IT HAS COST ME $730 OUT OF POCKET WHICH IS TO BE REFUNDED TO ME FROM BOTH MY INSURANCE COMPANY ($230) AND THE DEALERSHIP ($500). I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM CASEY. I WAS TOLD THAT CHIPS NO MORE THAN ONE HALF INCH ARE COVERED. BUT NOT CRACKS. THANK YOU, SCOTT.
I BOUGHT MY 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH 300 MILES AND CURRENTLY ONLY HAVE 4000 MILES IN IT AND MY CAR WON'T START I EVEN GOT IT SERVICED 2 WEEKS AGO. IT WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AS USUAL FOR A NIGHT AND THE NEXT DAY IT WOULDN'T START.
600 MILES ON A BRAND NEW 2020 OUTBACK AND I HEARD A POP WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM THE EDGE PROB 8 INCHES IN. I DID NOT SEE A ROCK AND IT DIDN'T SOUND LIKE A ROCK. IT'S A STRAIGHT LINE. NO BREAK LIKE SOMETHING HIT IT OR ANYTHING. SPONTANEOUS WHILE DRIVING.
MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED, IN A SAFE PLACE, AT MY RESIDENCE FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 DAYS. ONE MORNING, I DISCOVERED A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD WHICH BEGAN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, RUNS IN A SMOOTH LINE, MAKING A TURN UPWARD AND CONTINUES ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD AND STOPS CLOSE TO THE CENTER. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN STRUCK BY A PROJECTILE OR ANYTHING THE LAST TIME I HAD DRIVEN IT. THERE IS NO "SPIDER-WEBBING" OR MARKS THAT WOULD BE CONSISTENT WITH IT GETTING HIT.
SPONTANEOUS CRACKING OF WINDSHIELD WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. STARTED AT BOTTOM OF WINDSHIELD APPROX. MIDWAY. APPROX. 9 INCHES IN LENGTH VERTICALLY THEN CRACK WENT TO PASSENGER SIDE APPROX. 5 INCHES.
WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN IT ON, THE CAR WOULD NOT START (NOVEMBER 20, 2020) THE CAR REQUIRED A JUMP TO GET THE ENGINE TO START. TOOK IT INTO THE SUBARU DEALERSHIP WHO TESTED THE BATTERY AND SAID THE BATTERY WAS FINE & THEY CHARGED THE BATTERY BACK UP. (NOVEMBER 24, 2020). THE FOLLOWING MORNING (NOVEMBER 25, 2020) THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN AND HAD TO JUMP THE CAR. OVER THE FOLLOWING 36 HOURS ANYTIME I DROVE SOMEWHERE, TURNED IT OFF, IT REQUIRED A JUMP TO START IT AGAIN. TODAY (NOVEMBER 28, 2020) WE TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN FOR ANALYSIS. THEY JUST PUT ANOTHER OEM BATTERY BACK IN THE CAR AND SAID THEY ARE NOT SURE WHAT THE ISSUE IS.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT A REASON WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE CRACK STARTS AT THE TOP, APPROXIMATELY AT THE CENTER. IT STARTED TO EXPAND DOWN AND IN A FEW HOURS HAS REACHED HALF OF THE HEIGHT. I CHECKED WITH FEW REPAIR SHOPS AND THE VERDICT IS THE WINDSHIELD NEEDS A REPLACEMENT. AFTER THE CRACK APPEARED MY ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL HAS STARTED TO TURN OFF BY ITSELF FOR SHORT PERIOD (SO FAR IT HAPPENED TWICE).
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT A REASON. CAR PARKED AT NIGHT. NEXT MORNING WINDSHIELD CRACKED WITHOUT ANY SIGN OF AN IMPACT
WINDSHIELD CRACKED FROM THE BOTTOM OF WINDSHIELD. I HAD COMPLAINED TO THE THE DEALER. THEY WON'T HELP ME AND SAID IT IS ROCK CHIP. IT WAS IN THE PARKING MODE WHEN IT START TO CRACK ITSELF.
MY 2020 OUTBACK WHICH IS ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD HAD THE BATTERY DRAIN ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. BOTH TIMES I HAD TO JUMP THE CAR IN ORDER FOR IT TO START. THIS ONLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR SITS FOR MORE THAN THREE DAYS. IF I DRIVE THE CAR EVERY DAY, THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE SUBARU DEALER TO BE CHECKED OUT AND THEY SAID 'WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO, I DID NOT MAKE THE CAR'. THIS IS A TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE PROBLEM. WHAT GOOD IS A BRAND NEW CAR THAT CANNOT SIT THREE DAYS WITHOUT A JUMP START.
WHILE INTERACTING WITH THE REAR OF THE CAR WHILE IT WAS PARKED AND SHUT OFF, I HAD ACCIDENTLY TRIGGERED THE "HANDS-FREE POWER REAR GATE" FEATURE AND THE GATE BEGAN TO OPEN. RATHER THAN WAIT FOR THE TAIL GATE TO FULLY OPEN, I GENTLY PUSHED THE REAR TAIL GATE AGAINST THE AUTOMATIC OPENING BACK INTO THE CLOSED POSITION. AT THIS POINT, THE CAR BEEPED AT ME THREE TIMES AND THE REAR TAIL GATE WOULD NO LONGER LATCH ITSELF CLOSED, EVEN WHEN CLOSED MANUALLY. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE TAIL GATE UNSECURED, IT WOULD OPEN ITSELF WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE THE LATCH WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND HOLD IT CLOSED.
NEW 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK WITH 3K MILES. WAS DRIVING HOME AT ~50MPH ON FREEWAY, A SMALL (1 CM) ROCK HIT UPPER WINDSHIELD AND MADE A SMALL CHIP. THE CHIP THEN SUDDENLY PROPAGATED TO A FOOT-LONG CRACK RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES OVER THE PAST 30 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A WINDSHIELD SHATTER. PROPERLY MANUFACTURED WINDSHIELD SHOULD CHIP, NOT SHATTER.
WE PURCHASED OUR NEW 2020 OUTBACK LESS THAN A MONTH AGO AND HAVE HAD THE BATTERY DIE 4 SEPARATE TIMES ALREADY. I HAVE HAD TO JUMP START TO REVIVE. WE'VE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ONCE AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE ANY PROBLEM AND NOTHING HAS BEEN REPLACED YET.
NEW 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK BATTERY HAS GONE DEAD. ONLY 2300 MILES ON VEHICLE. CAR WAS LAST DRIVEN ON SUNDAY. WOULD NOT START ON TUESDAY EVENING. ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS DEAD.
I BOUGHT A 2020 SUBARU OUTBACK XT IN MARCH. IT WAS THE LAST SPECIAL ORDER FROM AUTO NATION BEFORE THEY SHUT DOWN FOR COVID. I DROVE IT VERY LITTLE AS WE WERE BASICALLY HOME BOUND AND THEN FOR SHOPPING, GOLF AND MEETINGS. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER AND I HAVE UNDER TWO THOUSAND MILES DRIVEN. THE CAR WENT COMPLETELY DEAD ON SEPTEMBER 17TH AND NOW AGAIN ON NOVEMBER 10TH. IT DIED BOTH TIMES INSIDE MY GARAGE AND THE FRONT DRIVERS DOOR WAS THE ONLY THING TO OPEN. IT DID JUMP AND WORK IN BETWEEN THOSE DATES. I AM NOW READING ABOUT ALL THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS AND BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE OUTBACK. SUBARU SUGGESTED THAT I NEEDED TO DRIVE MY CAR EVERY DAY TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING. THAT IS A LUDICROUS IDEA AND SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER HAD TO DO WITH ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE OWNED. I HAVE A CVT 2.4 ENGINE WITH A TURBO. EVERY TIME THE BATTERY DIES ALL THE LOADED INFORMATION LIKE BLUETOOTH, ETC. IS ALSO GONE.
EXCESSIVE CRACKING OF WINDSHIELD. CAR IS TWO MONTHS OLD AND WOKE UP ONE MORNING TO AN EIGHT INCH CRACK ON THE LEFT SIDE MIDDLE. THE NEXT DAY THE CRACK WAS HALF WAY ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD.
MY CAR BATTERY HAS DIED THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY THE SECOND DAY BUT BATTERY DIED AGAIN OVERNIGHT.

The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the drive belt to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated in February of 2021, the tailgate failed to open with the key fob or manually. The contact stated after opening the tailgate, it failed to latch and close properly. The contact stated the tailgate ajar warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was called and made aware of the failure. The dealer informed the contact to disconnected the battery. The contact followed the instructions and stated the tailgate was functioning properly but in May of 2021, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to Royal Moore Subaru (1326 SE Enterprise Cir, Hillsboro, OR 97123: (503) 640-5660) where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,500.
In approx 2 years, the battery in my brand new 2020 Subaru Outback has died approx 8-10 times. The dealership claims it's Covid related (not driving enough); or the car has so many electrical systems that the battery is being drained as it sits in garage-the fix is me driving it more according to them.
WINDSHIELD GLASS CRACKED SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY APPARENT CAUSE. THE CRACK APPEARED DURING DRIVING ON OCTOBER 30, 2020. THE SIZE OF THE CRACK IS ABOUT 1/2", AND IT HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY REPAIRED.
I WENT OUT TO MY GARAGE AND FOUND A 8 INCH CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. THERE IS NO APPARENT IMPACT POINT TO THE CRACK. THE DAY BEFORE, I WENT GROCERY SHOPPING AND PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE WHEN I GOT HOME. THERE WAS NO CRACK. THE CAR IS 5 MONTHS OLD. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER FOR HELP, AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF A WINDSHIELD PROBLEM.
MY WINDSHIELD RECEIVED TWO VERY MINOR CHIPS AT THE TOP OF DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD. WITHIN HOURS A CRACK APPEARED FROM ABOVE AND BELOW THE CHIPS, WHICH MEASURES AT LEAST 17' ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD FROM TOP TO MIDDLE. THE CRACK APPEARED WHILE DRIVING ON I 25 IN NM IN LIGHT TRAFFIC.
THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE IN MOTION - IT SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING TINY MIGHT'VE HIT THE CAR BUT I WAS GOING SLOWLY AT LESS THAN 40MPH AND IT WAS NOT ANYTHING LARGE. THERE WAS A TINY SPOT BUT THIS QUICKLY CRACKED INTO A LARGE LINE ONLY A FEW MINUTES LATER.
BATTERY FAILED WITHIN 1 MONTH OF NEW CAR PURCHASE. TECHNICIAN INITIALLY SAID IT WAS DUE TO REAR DOME LIGHT BEING LEFT ON (DID NOT THINK THIS WAS THE CASE). AFTER REPEATEDLY RETURNING TO THE CAR IN THE MORNINGS TO FIND DRAINED BATTERY, HAD TO PURCHASE BACK UP JUMPING DEVICE TO ENSURE I'D BE ABLE TO USE VEHICLE DAILY. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 2 MORE TIMES (WITHIN WEEKS OF THE INITIAL PROBLEM) AFTER NEEDING TO JUMP THE CAR TO START IT. NO ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WAS FOUND AND BATTERY WAS DEEMED TO BE "OK" PER THEIR TEST. THEN ONE MORNING WHILE STARTING THE CAR, THE DASH LIGHTS STARTED ALL TO FLASH, AN AUDIBLE CLICKING NOISE AND HATCH MOTOR COULD BE HEARD TRYING TO OPEN AND REMAINED STUCK IN THAT MODE UNTIL THE BATTERY DIED (CAR NEVER STARTED). CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR 3RD TIME IN A MONTH AND BATTERY WAS DEEMED "TO BE DEFECTIVE" FROM THE FACTORY AND WAS REPLACED IN THIS 2 MONTH OLD CAR. NO OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED TO EXPLAIN WHAT REPEATEDLY DRAINED THE BATTERY.
HEADLIGHTS ARE AIMED TOO HIGH - THEY ARE SIMILAR TO HIGH BEAMS ON OTHER CARS. WHENEVER I AM DRIVING AT NIGHT - ESPECIALLY WHEN OUTSIDE THE CITY, ALMOST EVERY CAR PASSING ME FLASHES BRIGHT LIGHT BECAUSE THEY THINK I HAVE MY HIGH BEAMS ON. THEY ARE POINTED TOO HIGH OFF THE GROUND AND CAUSE GLARE FOR OTHER DRIVERS (WHICH I ALSO EXPERIENCED WHEN MY WIFE WAS FOLLOWING ME IN THE SUBARU WHILE I DROVE OUR OTHER CAR. IT IS REALLY OBNOXIOUS AND DOES NOT SEEM SAFE TO OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AND THERE IS NO WAY TO ADJUST LIGHTS TO POINT DOWN TOWARDS THE ROAD.
BATTER IS DEAD AFTER 10 MONTHS, 7500 MILES. SEEMS AS IF THERE IS SOMETHING FAULTY WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT IS PULLING POWER OFF OF THE BATTERY WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. I'VE GONE OUT TO THE CAR 5 TIMES NOW OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS TO A DEAD BATTERY. PROGRESSIVELY IT'S GOTTEN WORSE WITH TWO OF THE TIMES BEING JUST THIS WEEK. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH WHAT I'M READING ABOUT PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS AS WELL. SEEMS LIKE THEY HAVE AN ELECTRICAL BUG THAT THEY'RE NOT ADDRESSING YEAR OVER YEAR.
FOR THE THIRD TIME, THE OEM AND OEM REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS CRACKED STARTING FROM THE EDGE AND QUICKLY PROPAGATED. NO FOREIGN OBJECT DEBRIS WAS NOTED HITTING THE WINDSHIELD TO CAUSE A CRACK.
