CONSUMER STATES THAT THERE COULD POSSIBLY BE SOME COMPONENTS OF SEAT THAT ARE LOOSE AND CAUSING THIS NOTICABLE MOVEMENT OF SEAT. WHEN OLDER SON WAS DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD-ON. YOUNGER SON WAS RIDING ON PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, CAUSING SERIOUS INJURIES TO PASSENGER.*AK
RACK & PINION STEERING SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AT 70,000 MILE - NO WARRANTY COMPENSATION. *AK
LEFT SIDE FRONT END COIL SPRING BROKE WHILE GETTING INTO PARKED VEHICLE. MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ITS WARRANTY, AND NOT COVERED UNDER A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH FELT A SLIGHT LOSS OF POWER WHICH WAS CORRECTED BY ITSELF. A MINUTE LATER, WHEELS LOCKED UP, AND VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP INFORMED CONSUMER THAT TRANSAXLE CRACKED AND IT BROKE OFF WHERE IT WAS ATTACHED TO THE BODY. DIFFERENTIAL UNIT LOCKING WAS TORN UP, AND CENTER SUPPORT WAS WIPED OUT. TRANSFER CASE ALSO BROKE WHERE IT WENT ONTO THE BODY. *AK DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS CHUNKS OF METAL FOUND FROM THE DIFFERENTIAL DRAIN PLUG. CONSUMER HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE INCLUDING STARTING PROBLEMS. STRUT FAILURE. KEY AND LOCK PROBLEMS. WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAULTY. INTERIOR AND BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE. *SLC
AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHILE CRASHING FRONTEND OF CAR AT THE SPEED OF 35 MPH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE'S DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. DRIVER INJURED NECK & PASSENGER INJURED KNEES! *AK
DEALER SERVICE REPS SAYS TO REPLACE ENTIRE RACK & PINION STEERING GEAR. *AK
VEHICLE INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 30-35 MPH IMPACT AND BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER / MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS ON THIS MATTER. *AK
CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AT DEALERSHIPS PER TOYOTA'S SCHEDULE; NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. 73,000 IS TOO EARLY FOR THE RACK AND PINION TO HAVE AN INTERNAL LEAK. CAR HAS BEEN WELL-MAINTAINED AN NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT. COST TO REPAIR THE R&P $1500, COMPANY AGREED TO ADJUST IT BY $241. BLACK TAR LIKE SUBSTANCE LEAKING OUT OF BACK DOORS. DON'T KNOW IF IT CAN BE REPAIRED. *AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, AND CAUSING A COLLISION. VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC.*AK
VEHICLE DID NOT HOLD IDLE WHEN STARTED. ISC MOTOR HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES IN 2.5 YEARS. EACH REPLACEMENT LASTED 1 OR 2 MONTHS MORE THAN THE LENGTH OF WARRANTY. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING 30MPH ON HIGHWAY AND ANOTHER VEHICLE STOPPED IN FRONT SUDDENLY, THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WHEN CONSUMERER SLAMING THE BRAKE IN PANIC STOP, BUT WITH OUT ANY ACCIDENT DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET THAT THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS SLUDGE ENGINE WITH PROPER MAINTENANCE. TOYOTA NOT BACKING THE WARRANTY. THERE IS A BIG PROBLEM WORLDWIDE HERE. *AK
MECHANIC TOLD CONSUMER MOTOR BLEW DUE TO SADDLES THAT HOLD THE ROD CAP IN PLACE WERE OVER TIGHTENED. *AK THE ROD CAME LOOSE AND WENT THROUGH THE MOTOR BLOCK, CONSUMER WANTS SOMEONE ELSE TO LOOK AT THE MOTOR. AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR FAILED. *SLC

WHILE TRAVELING AT 15 MPH FRONT END HIT SIDE OF ANOTHER CAR . WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 15MPH. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, AND CONSUMER SUSTAINED A BROKEN WRIST. CONSUMER STATED THAT AN AIRBAG WAS THERE TO PROTECT PASSENGER, BUT INSTEAD IT BROKE CONSUMER'S WRIST.*AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL ERRATIC SURGES WHILE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WHICH CAUSED SUDDEN ACCELERATION, AND RESULTED IN A REAR END COLLISION. THERE WERE MINOR DAMAGES TO VEHICLE, AND NO REPORTED INJURIES. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND. *AK
DURING VEHICLE COLLISION THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS BADLY SMASHED, HOWEVER THE FRONTAL AIR BAG EXPERIENCED NO DEPLOYMENT. *MJS

LEFT REAR WHEEL IS MAKING A NOISE AND LEAKING OIL. RIGHT SIDE IS LEAKING OIL ALSO, BUT IS NOT MAKING NOISE. CONSUMER FEELS WHEEL MAY COME OFF. DEALER REPLACED THE HUB AND BEARING THAT WAS MAKING NOISE. *AK *ML
BELIEVE MANUFACTURER MADE DEFECTIVE PARTS ENCLOSED IN WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY-LEFT REAR WHEEL MAKING NOISE FROM BEARING, BOTH ARE LEAKING GREASE-PREMATURE FAILURE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. EVERY 7-8 MONTHS IT SHOWS SYMPTOMS OF INSTABILITY DURING IGNITION. THE RPM NEEDLE IS ALSO VERY UNSTABLE, ESPECIALLY ON COLDER DAYS. *AK *ML
STEERING WHEEL IS VERY HARD TO MANEUVER, ONLY IN WET CONDITIONS IS STEERING NORMAL. DEALER IS AWARE, AND WILL ONLY REPAIR UNDER RAINY CONDITIONS. *AK
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO QUICKLY STOP AT HIGH SPEEDS (50+ MPH), THE FRONT BRAKES GROAN/GRIND AND VIBRATE. THIS INCREASES STOPPING DISTANCE BY A FACTOR OF 2 AND IS UNSAFE. PADS AND ROTORS WHERE REPLACED BY DEALER AT MY COST BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. TSBBR002-96 DESCRIBES THE PROBLEM BUT DID NOT HELP. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW WITH POTENTIAL OF SERIOUS INJURY. *AK
BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT REAR DOORS HAVE A GLUEY STICKY SUBSTANCE THAT IS LEAKING FROM THE DOOR.IT IS LEAKING ALL AROUND THE INSIDE FRAME AND HAS MELTED THE MOLDING ON THE ACTUAL BLACK CAR MOLDING THAT IS PART OF THE CAR. IF YOU TOUCH ANY PART OF THE DOOR OR FRAME, THE BLACK SUBSTANCE STICKS TO YOU.LOCAL DEALER UNWILLING TO FIX IT. SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT TO ME. HAS BEEN THIS WAY SINCE MARCH 2000.
AFTER PURCHASING CAR I HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES AFTER 3 MONTHS, THEN TOLD ROTORS WERE WARPED, NOW REAR AXLE IS FAULTY AND CALIPERS NEED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH ROTORS/DRUMS AND BRAKES AGAIN. CONTINUAL PROBLEMS WITH FRONT END SHAKING. THIS IS TRUE OF BOTH SIDES, LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT.
I HAVE ENGINE GELLING THAT HAS LED TO ENGINE DAMAGE SEVERE ENOUGH THAT I WILL EITHER NEED A NEW SHORT BLOCK OR NEW ENGINE (ACCORDING TO TOYOTA). EVEN WITH ALL OF THE WORK THAT I HAVE ALREADY HAD ON THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE IS NOT IN PROPER RUNNING ORDER AND WILL TAKE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REMEDY THE ISSUE.
VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP . CONSUMER HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL 3 ITMES, AND ONCE HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND TURN OFF ENGINE. TOYOTA DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE CAUSE. PRIVATE MECHANIC REPLACED THROTTLE. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLSION, AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WILL BE NOTIFIED. *AK
POWER ANTENNA WAS CAUSING SHORTAGES IN RADIO. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND REPLACED ANTENNA. AT PRESENT, PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED. *AK CONSUMER STATES THE ANTENNA DOES NOT CONTRACT IN VERY COLD WEATHER, CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM. *SLC
MAIN WINDOW SWITCH ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WOULD LATCH TO LOWER THE WINDOW THEN WOULD NOT UNLATCH TO RAISE THE WINDOW EVEN AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND OPENING THE DOOR. DEALER SAID IT WOULD COST $300+ TO REPLACE THE MAIN WINDOW CONTROL BOARD. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER THE RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER SWITCH QUIT AND NEITHER SIDE (RIGHT OR LEFT) SWITCH WOULD WORK. CANNOT LOWER WINDOW AT ALL AND FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD IF THE WINDOW HAD TO BE OPENED IN AN EMERGENCY.*AK
IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE KEEPS CLOGGING UP. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED IT TWICE, AND PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT VEHICLE KEEPS STALLING, AND GAS PEDAL HAS TO BE PUSHED TO START THE VEHICLE. *YD

MY WIFE, VARDHANI MURTY, WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, HIT AN UNEVEN SPOT ON THE ROAD, AND THE CAR SWERVED VIOLENTLY RIGHT TO LEFT AND LEFT TO RIGHT A FEW TIMES AND REMAINED STUCK PULLING RIGHT, WAS HIT BY AN 18 WHEELER ON LEFT REAR SIDE, STOPPED BY GUARD RAIL; SUFFERED INJURIES AND FRACTURES
RESERVOIR BOTTLE FAILED PREMATURELY. BOTTLE DETERIATED AND LEAKS COOLANT ONTO THE EXHAUST.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLS UNEXPECTEDLY WHICH MAY CAUSE A CRASH. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

POWER DOOR LOCKS ENGAGE TO LOCKING POSITION INDEPENDENTLY AND OFTEN CONTINUALLY WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA DEALER A MINIMUM OF TWO TIMES TO BE REPAIRED. DEALER DETECTED A LOW VOLTAGE PROBLEM AND REPLACED BATTERY. DOOR LOCKS CONTINUE TO SELF LOCK. DEALER UNABLE TO GET DOOR LOCKS TO SELF INITIATE THEREFORE DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT UNABLE TO DETECT PROBLEM. DEALER UNWILLING TO DO ANY MORE FOR OWNER. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ENGAGE LOCKING MECHANISM WHILE IN USE. TRANSPORTING CHILDREN IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IF MECHANISM LOCKS CHILD/CHILDREN INSIDE.
INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ON DRIVERS SIDE HAS BROKE OFF, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO RAPIDLY EXIT THE CAR. PASSENGER SIDE HAS CRACKS AND SPRING HAS WORN THROUGH. THIS CAR IS DRIVEN BY 48 Y/O WOMEN (MY WIFE). MY CONCERN IS THAT IN AN ACCIDENT, THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO GET OUT WITHOUT JAMMING A SCREWDRIVER IN IT, OR ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOW AND OPENING FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE FACT THAT BOTH SIDES ARE FAILING LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. SINCE THE ONE PLASTIC PIECE COSTS $33.00, I WILL PROBABLY LOOK FOR ONE IN THE JUNK YARD, (WHICH MAY ALSO HAVE PREMATURELY AGED). WE LIVE IN FLORIDA SO PERHAPS THE U/V RAYS CONTRIBUTE TO ITS DEMISE. NONETHELESS IT IS CREATING AN UNSAFE SITUATION AND I COULDN'T POSSIBLY BE THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU. *AK
ORIGINAL ENGINE VALVE SEALS FAILED PREMATURELY AT 38K MILES ARE WERE REPAIRED BY DEALER UNDER WARRANTY. AFTER ANOTHER 40K MILES THE SEALS FAILED AGAIN. DEALER ESTIMATE FOR SECOND PREMATUER VALVE SEAL REPAIR IS $1,000.
NO COLD/FAST IDLE, CAR STALLS WHEN STARTING COLD, IDLE ERRATIC, GOES LOW HAVE TO GIVE IT GAS SO IT WON'T STALL,3 TRIPS TO THE DEALER, EACH TIME DEALER CLAIMED CAR WAS REPAIRED, PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN NO HELP, WHEN CONTACING DEALER FOR THE FOURTH TIME, THEY SAID THEY'D GET BACK TO ME. WON'T RETURN MY CALLS. THIS IS GOING ON FOR A MONTH, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR.
ENGINE ACCELERATED WHILE PULLING INTO THE GARAGE. ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE... CAR DID NOT STOP. RAN INTO THE HOUSE. HAD TO TURN OFF IGNITION TO STOP ENGINE ACCELERATION.
