WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX. 65-70MPH, WHEN REACHING ACROSS, CONSOLE SHIFT GEAR SLIGHTLY TOUCHED OR BUMPED AGAINST IT, WILL MOVE LEVER FROM DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL. *AK
WHEN APPLYING THE ABS BRAKES THE SYSTEM WILL FAIL, CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE ADD FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

THE SHIFTING OF GEARS IS EXTREMELY EASY, WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS AN ACCIDENTAL MOVEMENT WOULD READILY CAUSE A CHANGE IN GEARS, (FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL). THIS CONDITION IS EXPLAINED AS BEING NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE.

DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH IN WET CONDITIONS, VEHICLE BEGAN TO SKID. APPLIED BRAKES AND REARENDED VEHICLE IN FRONT. DUAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY/INOPERATIVE, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO HIT STEERING WHEEL, AND RESULTING IN INJURIES. 538159 DUP OF 825226. POSTED ON 09-07-1999. *AK
GOOD YEAR REGATTA TIRES (P195/70/R14) ARE VERY UNSAFE, CAUSING DIFFICULTY IN CONTROLING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON FREEWAYS AND HIGHWAYS WITH RIBBED-CONCRETE PAVEMENT.
CONSUMER SAYS THAT A BUMP WAS HIT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR 20MINUTES, AND WHEN RETURNED TO VEHICLE THE AIR BAGS HAD DEPLOYED ON THEIR OWN. *AK

COSCO TURNABOUT INFANT CAR SEAT (CAME WITH THE "ROCK N' ROLLER STROLLER) MODEL NUMBER 01-654 (IF THE STROLLER AND CAR SEAT HAVE THE SAME NUMBERS) DOES NOT FIT SECURELY IN THE CAR SEAT. IN A SIDE IMPACT CRASH THE SEAT WOULD BECOME DISLODGED, AS IT CAN SLIDE LEFT AND RIGHT. I HAVE TO PIN THE SEAT BEHIND THE BACK OF THE PASSENGER SEAT TO IMMOBALIZE IT. I HAVE EVEN HAD A POLICE OFFICER LOOK AT IT AND HE TOOK NOTICE IT DIDN'T SEEM TOO SAFE. *AK
I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN 4 DIFFERENT TIMES, 3 TIMES TO MODERN TOYOTA AND ONCE TO ANOTHER DEALER. ON 05-06-1999, RON HOLBROOK OF MODERN TOYOTA IN WINSTON-SALEM (336)785-1411 STATED THAT AT LEAST 25 OTHER 1996 CAMRYS HE KNOWS OF HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE MANUFACTURER IS WORKING ON IT . BOTH PASSENGER DOORS HAVE A GLUE STICKY SUBSTANCE THAT IS LEAKING FROM THE WEATHER STRIPPING INSIDE THE DOOR. A DEALERSHIP LOOKED AT IT AND TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $60.00 PER DOOR TO FIX. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED OFTEN THEN THERE SOUND LIKE A DEFECTIVE PROBLEM IN THE WEATHER STRIPPING OR SOME OTHER COMPONENT WITHIN THE DOOR. THE PROBLEM STARTED OCCURING AROUND NOV. 1997 ALMOST TWO YEARS AFTER THE CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW. CAN YOU HELP ME IN THIS PROBLEM? THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE VIBRATES WHEN REACHING A SPEED ABOVE 55 MPH, ALSO ON HIGHWAY DRIVING THE VEHICLE PULLS TO RIGHT AND/OR LEFT AT TIMES, DEALERSHIP INDICATES NO PROBLEM, BECAUSE THEY WILL ONLY TEST THE VEHICLE ON SIDE ROADS, AS OPPOSED TO HIGHWAY DRIVING WHICH IS WHAT I BOUGHT THE CAR FOR. THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN ENGAGED, IF YOU HIT THE BRAKES, WHILE THE TIRES ARE STILL TORQUED MAKES AN EXTREMELY LOUD BANG, AND THE VEHICLE AT TIMES TENDS TO SPEED UP THEN SLOW DOWN. *AK
