I WAS HIT BY A SPEEDING DRIVER IN CROSS TRAFFIC. (A LOT OF PEOPLE A RUNNING THROUGH RED LIGHTS!) THE FRONT BUMPER AND GRILL AREA WAS BADLY DAMAGED, RIGHT HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY WAS TORN OFF AND HOOD WAS BUCKLED. MY SEAT BELT DID NOT STOP ME FROM BEING THROWN FORWARD AND THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY, CAUSING MY HEAD TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD, BREAKING THE GLASS. I RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR MY HEAD INJURY. TWO SAFETY SYSTEMS THAT FAILED. MY CAR HAS BEEN "TOTALED" BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *JS
2001 TOYOTA CAMRY HEADLIGHT LENSES ARE FOGGED AND NO LONGER CLEAR. HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT A BRIGHT DUE TO THE CONDITION. NEARLY HIT BICYCLIST CROSSING IN CROSSWALK AT NIGHT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS DIMMED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY WAS DIMINISHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TWICE. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
THE NEWER TYPE OF HIGH INTENSITY HEADLIGHTS ARE A SAFETY HAZARD IN THAT THEY ARE SO BRIGHT THAT THEY CAUSE ONCOMING DRIVERS TO LOSE THEIR "NIGHT VISION". PLEASE WORK TO GET RID OF THE GLARE. I HAVE THOUGHT THIS FOR A LONG TIME, BUT THE RECENT PRESS COVERAGE OF THIS ISSUE PROMPTED ME TO LODGE A COMPLAINT. THANKS BILL K. *NLM
I PURCHASED A 2001 CAMRY LE (NEW) AND THE DOME LIGHT DOES NOT WORK THE WAY THE MANUAL SAYS IT SHOULD. I HAVE POWER DOOR LOCKS AND KEYLESS ENTRY- WHEN I USE MY KEYLESS ENTRY MY DOME LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON THE WAY MY MANUAL STATES IT SHOULD. AND WHEN I FIRST CLOSE MY DOOR THE DOME LIGHT DOES NOT STAY ON FOR THE 15 SECONDS LIKE THE MANUAL SAYS IT SHOULD. THIS IS VERY VERY UNSAFE FOR A PERSON TO GET INTO THIS CAR AFTER DARK!!!! IF SOMEONE WAS HIDING IN THE CAR THEY WOULD HAVE ALL THE ADVANTAGES - IF I USE MY KEYLESS ENTRY FROM 10 FEET AWAY AND MY LIGHT DOESN'T COME I CAN'T TELL SOMEONE WOULD BE IN THE CAR BUT, IN REALITY I HAVE JUST SIGNALED TO THAT PERSON THAT I'M ON MY WAY TO THE CAR, SO GET READY TO JUMP OUT AT ME. THEY'RE READY AND I WOULDN'T BE!!!!!!!! SOUNDS EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO ME. HOW DOES TOYOTA JUSTIFY TAKING "AWAY" SAFETY FEATURES.
