THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL HOWEVER, THERE WAS A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FROM THE MANUFACTURER FOR THE FAILURE IN SIMILAR VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE INSPECTED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 177,151.

The vehicle was diagnosed but not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that they were unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

THE DASHBOARD IS SEVERELY CRACKED ON BOTH THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVER SIDE. THE CRACKS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED, BUT THEN HAVE RE-OPENED AGAIN. THEY ARE UNSIGHTLY AND I HAVE FURTHER CONCERNS THAT THEY MAY INTERFERE WITH ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS AND OTHER PARTS UNDER THE DASHBOARD SHOULD THE CRACKS CONTINUE TO GROW. I HAVE ADDITIONAL CONCERNS THAT THE CRACKS MAY RESULT IN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT ISSUES. THE CRACKS HAVE BEEN EVIDENT SINCE APPROXIMATELY 2006. *TR
A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW, I NOTICED A SMALL CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD AND STICKINESS OF THE DASHBOARD. I ASKED AT HOLLYWOOD TOYOTA AND GOT NO SATISFACTION AND THINK I CALLED THE 800 NUMBER TOO. OVER THE YEARS, ONE HALF OF THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME VERY NOTICEABLY CRACKED AND DAMAGED AND NOW THE COVERING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOWS IS PEELING OFF THE DOORS. THE REST OF THE INTERIOR LOOKS PRISTINE. THE DASHBOARD CRACKED IN MY PREVIOUS CAMRY TOO BUT NOT TO THIS DEGREE; TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, TOYOTA PAID ME $1000 LESS THAT I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN FOR THE TURN-IN PRICE BECAUSE OF THE DASHBOARD OF THE OLD CAMRY CAR WHEN I SOLD IT BACK TO THEM WHEN I BOUGHT MY CURRENT SOLARA IN 2004. AT LEAST A DOZEN PEOPLE HAVE COME UP TO ME AND TOLD ME THEY ALSO EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR SOLARAS. ONE PERSON SAID THEY HAD 2 SOLARAS; ONE KEPT IN THE GARAGE AND ON THE STREET, AND BOTH DASHBOARDS CRACKED. I HAVE MADE AN EFFORT ALL THE TIME TO COVER THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE SUN INSIDE BUT IT HASN'T HELPED. I HOPE TOYOTA ISSUES A RECALL, AS I THINK THEY SHOULD. *TR
THE DASHBOARD AND GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR HAS MULTIPLE CRACKS OVER ENTIRE SURFACE. THIS AUTO HAS BEEN GARAGED SINCE PURCHASE. I AM RETIRED AND AUTO IS NOT IN DIRECT SUN OVER AN HOUR OR TWO, AND I USE A SUNGUARD DURING THOSE PERIODS. BOUGHT CAR WITH 113,000 MILES, IMMEDIATELY NOTICED IT USED OIL BEYOND NORMAL BUT DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WHAT NORMAL FOR THAT CAR. CONSUMPTION HAS GROWN TO 1.5 QT PER 1400 MILES. ALSO PAINT FROM ROOF, TRUNK AND HOOD STARTED PEELING AROUND 120000 MILES. CAR HAS 195,000 MILES CURENTLY

I, WITH MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER, WAS IN LOWER MANHATTAN CAUGHT IN LANES OF BUMPER-TO-BUMPER STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC CRAWLING TOWARD THE ENTRANCE TO THE HOLLAND TUNNEL.THE CAR DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME WAS A YARD OR LESS AHEAD. I DON'T KNOW IF MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE OR IF I WAS GENTLY FEEDING A LITTLE GAS -- THERE WERE NO OTHER CHOICES -- WHEN SUDDENLY WE HEARD A SURGING ROAR AND OUR CAR SLAMMED FORWARD INTO THE CAR I WAS FOLLOWING. IT NECESSITATED REPAIRS OF OVER $600 ON THE REAR END OF THAT CAR. THIS HAS BEEN AT LEAST THE THIRD INCIDENCE OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION BY OUR 2004 CAMRY.THE LAST TIME, ON MAY 13, 2012, WHILE PARALLEL-PARKING MY CAR, IT SURGED AND STRUCK THE BMW PARKED JUST IN FRONT OF ME WITH SUCH FORCE THAT THE BMW'S BUMPER AND CRASH ABSORPTION SYSTEM SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. SEVERAL YEARS EARLIER IN A HOME DEPOT PARKING LOT, AS I WAS STARTING MY CAR, IT SURGED FORWARD UNCONTROLLABLY BETWEEN SEVERAL CARS BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO STOP. OTHER THAN INSPECTING THE CAR AND FINDING EVERYTHING OK, TOYOTA WILL DO NOTHING. ISN'T IT TIME TO ORDER A RECALL? *TR

CRACKS IN DASHBOARD IN TWO PLACES ON PASSENGER SIDE. ONE VERTICAL ABOUT 3 INCHES LONG AND ONE HORIZONTAL JUST ABOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT RUNNING THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF GLOVE COMPARTMENT. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, I SEE THAT MANY TOYOTA SOLARA, SIENNA AND AVALON OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING OF SAME PROBLEM WITH CRACKS IN DASHBOARD. IT SEEMS TO BE MAINLY THE 2004 MODELS, BUT SAME COMPLAINT WITH 2005, 2006, 2007 MODELS. OBVIOUSLY, PROBLEM IS IN MATERIAL OF DASHBOARD AND IT SEEMS SINCE NEWER MODELS DO NOT SEEM TO HAVE THIS ISSUE, POSSIBLY TOYOTA FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM EXISTED AND CHANGED SUPPLIERS OR MATERIALS FOR DASHBOARD. I FEEL LIKE TOYOTA OWES IT TO LOYAL TOYOTA OWNERS (THIS IS MY 2ND TOYOTA - 1ST WAS '95 CAMRY COUPE WHICH I REPLACED IN '05 WITH THE '04 SOLARA SLE) TO REPLACE THE CRACKED DASHBOARDS SINCE IT SEEMS TO BE A TREND IN THE '04 - '07 SOLARA, SIENNA, AVALON. *TR

I HAVE A GARAGE KEPT CONVERTIBLE AND RECENTLY THE ENTIRE DASH HAS CRACKED ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL (FROM LEFT SIDE ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT SIDE). ALSO ABOVE THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT IT IS CRACKED. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE ON GOOGLE.COM (I ENTERED SOLARA CRACKED DASH). I TOOK IT IN TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID "NO RECALL ON THIS ITEM AND THEY HANDED ME A REPAIR ESTIMATE OF APPROX. $2200". NEXT I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA AND THEIR ANSWER WAS "THERE IS NO RECALL AND NO ASSISTANCE ON THE REPAIR WILL BE GIVEN AT THIS TIME". I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE GOVERNMENT TAKE SOME ACTION ON THIS VEHICLE DEFECT. ALSO PLEASE TELL ME IF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED THAT I CAN JOIN. THANK YOU. *TR

WHEN IT OPENED, IT BANGED ON THE CONTACT'S ARM WHICH COMPROMISED THE STEERING CAPABILITIES. THE CONTACT CLOSED THE LID AND CONTINUED DRIVING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CENTER CONSOLE NEEDED A NEW LID. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. CARPET IS SEPARATING AT THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CONSOLE NEAR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. TOYOTA DEALER SAID THERE WAS WATER DAMAGE THAT CAUSED THE CARPET TO SHRINK AND SEPARATE. SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, I HAVE NEVER HAD WATER DAMAGE. THERE IS NO RECORD OF WATER DAMAGE IN VEHICLE HISTORY. I WAS TOLD CARPET COULD NOT BE FIXED, HOWEVER, THE DEALER DID FINALLY AGREE TO FIX THE CARPET AND IT HAS ALREADY COME "UNGLUED." THE DEALER DOES NOT RESPOND TO MY REQUESTS FOR SERVICE TO CORRECT THE CARPET SAG. IT IS NOW SAGGING SO MUCH MY RIGHT ANKLE TOUCHES IT WHEN I DRIVE. *TR
