TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT RESPOND WHEN APPLIED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A WALL AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND SHOULDER INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. LETTER FROM CONGRESSMAN GARRETT ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE PROBLEMS WITH RETURNING A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL. CONSEQUENTLY, THE CONSUMER CRASHED INTO A WALL AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *JB
AT 70K MLS VEHICLE WAS LOOSING PRECISE STEERING AND EXPERIENCED SOME "BOUNCING" ON UNEVEN SURFACES DUE TO ALL 4 STRUTS LEAKING ESPECIALLY THE FRONT ONES. DEALER REPLACED ALL 4 (11/25/14) AND 30K LATER (05/20/20015) TWO FRONT ONES SHOWED THE LEAK AGAIN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. IN BOTH CASES THE REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE OEM ONES. I OPENED CASE WITH TOYOTA (1605180624) AND WAS TOLD THAT SUCH ISSUE WAS NORMAL AND IT WAS NOTHING THEY WERE GOING TO DO.
PROBLEM WITH DASHBOARD STICKY/MELTING/RESIDUE. NEVER USED CLEANING AGENTS ON IT. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, WITH LESS THAN 32,000 MILES. CREATES A TERRIBLE GLARE ON WINDSHIELD, MAKING DRIVING DANGEROUS. DEALER IS ONLY ONE WHO HAS EVER SERVICED MY VEHICLE..THEY STATE THEY KNOW NOTHING OF THIS PROBLEM..THEIR BODY SHOP ALSO IS OBLIVIOUS TO PROBLEM (THEY TRIED AN INDUSTRIAL CLEANER TO TRY TO WIPE IT OFF. (TO NO AVAIL). NOW I FIND THAT I AM NOT ALONE IN THIS PROBLEM...THE INTERNET FORUM IS "REPLETE" WITH CAR OWNERS OF DIFFERENT MAKES/MODELS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM WHETHER THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION HAS BEEN GARAGED OR NOT. PLEASE HELP...ON A "FIXED" INCOME, CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE THIS DASHBOARD AND MY VEHICLE IS IN "PRISTINE" CONDITION WITH LOW MILEAGE/EXCELLENT CARE. THIS PROBLEM MORE THAN WARRANTS A "RECALL" AS SO MANY (MYRIAD) CAR OWNERS ARE NOW COMING FORWARD WITH THIS COMPLAINT. THE SUNVISOR ON BOTH SIDE FLOPS DOWN WHEN DRIVING ,L CALL MY DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE'S NO RECALL
MY FUEL GAUGE ALWAYS SHOW A FULL TANK OF GAS EVEN WHEN TANK IS EMPTY, AND WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION KEY OFF, FUEL GAUGE STILL SHOWS FULL. I CAN'T TELL HOW MUCH GAS IS IN MY TANK, AND THIS HAS RESULT ME WITHOUT GAS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY, IT IS REALLY A SAFETY HAZARD. PLEASE RECALL.
THE DASH IS COVERED WITH A STICKY SUBSTANCE. IT WAS JUST AN ANNOYANCE BUT NOW IN THE SUNSHINE, IT GLARES BACK ON THE WINDSHIELD AND IS VERY HARD TO SEE. THERE HAS BEEN MORE THAN ONCE I HAVE HAD TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP BECAUSE I COULDN'T SEE.

DASHBOARD MELTING
I HAVE BEEN OWNING THIS VEHICLE SINCE APRIL 2010. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ACCELERATOR PROBLEM EVERY TIME I TAKE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. DOWN THE HILL ROAD SPEED GOES UP TO 110 MILES/HR. WITHOUT PUSHING GAS.I HAVE WROTE TO TOYOTA BUT THEY SAID CAR IS AS FACTORY DESIGN!!!.. I AM DRIVING THIS CAR GOING TO INDIO TO YUCCA VALLEY,CA. 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID MAKES A POPPING, SNAPPING, CRACKING, KNOCKING NOISE WHEN GOING OVER UNEVEN ROADS, DRIVEWAYS, SPEED BUMPS, ETC. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS BECAME INOPERABLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND A PASSENGER SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
DASHBOARD STICKY AND MELTING. *TR
I NOTICED A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHEN STARTING AND THE ENGINE WAS COLD. I TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP THEY HAD TO KEEP IT OVERNIGHT TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE MILEAGE ON MY CAMRY WAS 90317 MILES WHEN THE DEALERSHIP MADE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS ON SEPT. 10, 2014. I PAID $849.79 FOR THE REPAIRS. I SEE ON YOUR SITE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT ON THIS MODEL CAMRY, A DEFECT WHICH THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF. MY QUESTION IS SHOULD THE MANUFACTURER COVER THE COST OF MY REPAIRS?
WITHIN APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES OF A COLD START HAD JUST MADE A LEFT TURN IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. WAS ACCELERATING THROUGH APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH WHEN THE CAR STALLED. RPM DROPPED FROM 2,000 TO NEAR ZERO AND SPEED DROPPED FROM 20 TO APPROXIMATELY 10. THE STALL LASTED A FEW SECONDS AND THEN THE ENGINE SPEED INCREASED AND THE CAR DROVE FINE FROM THERE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THREE WEEKS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.

OUR TOYOTA CAMRY HAS BEEN MAKING EXTREMELY LOUD NOISES AND KNOCKING NOISES FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. KEEP GETTING TOLD OUR CAMRY IS NOT A RECALL BUT ALL THE OTHER TOYOTAS THAT HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM HAVE BEEN SERVICED AND FIXED AND RECALLED OR A TSB BULLETIN HAS BEEN ISSUED.. JUST NOT OURS ? THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA EVER NOW.
MY PHONE DOESN'T RECONNECT TO THE HEAD UNIT AFTER TURNING THE BLUETOOTH OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN (FROM STAND STILL AND DRIVING SITUATION). THE ONLY WAY TO RECONNECT THE PHONE IS BY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN.
THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. THE CAR WAS HIT IN THE SIDE FRONT FROM THE TIRES FORWARD SO THE FLUIDS AND BUMPER WERE DESTROYED. DRIVER DID HIT THE DASHBOARD AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED FROM THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS OR THE FRONT AIRBAGS. NO AIRBAGS WERE EVER DEPLOYED TO PROTECT THE DRIVER. WHEN THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY OF THE AIRBAGS...WHICH WERE NO HELP IN THIS ACCIDENT. *TR
ON SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2014, I STARTED MY 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY AND MY CHECK ENGINE AND VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS WERE ON. I HAD NO PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH THE CAR. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY MORNING TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, THE FIRST ONE I COULD GET WAS JUST OVER A WEEK AWAY. I QUESTIONED THE DEALERSHIP IF MY CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY SAID YES, AS LONG AS THE VSC LIGHT WASN'T BLINKING. MY CAR WAS CHECKED BY THE DEALERSHIP ON MAY 27. I WAS TOLD MY BRAKE ACTUATOR HAD GONE OUT AND THE REPAIRS WERE AROUND $2,400 BEFORE TAXES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FROM A CHARCOAL CANISTER THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ANOTHER $500+. THE PARTS HAD TO BE ORDERED AND IT WAS MAY 30 WHEN MY CAR WAS READY. WHEN QUESTIONING THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT WHY MY BRAKE ACTUATOR HAD GONE OUT, THEY ASSURED ME THAT IT WAS NOTHING I HAD DONE AND THEY SAID THEY'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH OTHERS GOING OUT. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE I FOUND THAT OTHER MODELS BY TOYOTA HAVE HAD RECALLS FOR THE BRAKE ACTUATOR. IF THE COMPANY IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME PIECE OF EQUIPMENT IN OTHER MODELS, THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED. MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT IT WAS FAULTY AND FAILED. AFTER SEARCHING, I ALSO FOUND THERE HAVE BEEN VARIOUS ISSUES WITH THE CHARCOAL CANISTER AS WELL IN VARIOUS MODELS BY THE COMPANY. PERHAPS RESEARCH SHOULD BE DONE ON THIS ISSUE ALSO. MY CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD AND WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP IT HAD 54,259 MILES. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY REITERATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS; THEREFORE, AT THIS POINT TOYOTA COULD DO NOTHING ABOUT THE REPAIR. *TR
THREE OF THE FOUR DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE FAILED. THE FAILURES BEGIN INTERMITTENTLY AND THEN RESULT IN TOTAL FAILURE. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR HAVE TOTALLY FAILED. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR NOW INTERMITTENTLY FAILS. TOYOTA INDICATED THAT THEY HAVE NO RECALLS OR EXTENDED WARRANTIES. INTERNET SEARCHES SHOW THAT MULTIPLE TOYOTA MODELS HAVE THIS AS A COMMON FAILURE. THIS POSES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DOOR LOCKS DO NOT RESPOND TO THE ELECTRICAL UNLOCK / LOCK BUTTON AND DO NOT RESPOND TO THE REMOTE. MANUAL UNLOCK STILL WORKS; HOWEVER, IN THE CASE OF SMALL CHILDREN OR USE OF THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS, THIS WILL LIKELY NOT BE AN OPTION. I HAVE REGISTERED A COMPLAINT CASE WITH TOYOTA USA. TOYOTA USA INDICATED THAT NOTHING WILL BE DONE BY THEM AT THIS TIME. THEY WILL NOTIFY ME IF THEY ISSUE A RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY IN THE FUTURE. *TR

I CONTACTED TOYOTA.COM AND WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD MISSED THE EXTENDED REPAIR END DATE AND THAT I CAN PAY MY TOYOTA DEALER TO REPLACE MY DASHBOARD MYSELF.. I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM TOYOTA ABOUT THE EXTENDED DATE OR ANY RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THEY SAID THEY SENT THEM OUT AND IF I DID NOT RECEIVE IT, THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT NOW. THEY TOLD ME THIS ON A PHONE CALL TO ME. THEY WOULD NOT EVEN PUT THEIR RESPONSE IN WRITING. I TRULY BELIEVE TOYOTA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR, SO I THINK OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS LATER DRIVING AND APPLIED THE BRAKES WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC STOP. THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE ANKLE AND BACK, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
ON APRIL 19, 2014 I PURCHASED THE ABOVE REFERENCED VEHICLE, A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY SE FROM PRINCE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN TIFTON, GEORGIA. THIS VEHICLE WAS FOUR YEARS OLD AND HAD LESS THAN 10,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF MY PURCHASE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT WAS IN IMMACULATE CONDITION FROM ITS PREVIOUS ONE OWNER. HOWEVER, WHEN I RETURNED HOME TO ROME, GEORGIA ON APRIL 20TH, 2014 I NOTICED A TYPE OF ?STICKINESS? TO THE DASH BOARD AREA. I DROVE MY VEHICLE TO WORK AND ON THAT TUESDAY, APRIL 22ND, MY SUPERVISOR, CHIEF PROBATION OFFICER [XXX] WANTED TO LOOK AT MY NEW CAR. I SHOWED HIM MY VEHICLE AND ALSO POINTED OUT THE STICKINESS ON THE DASH BOARD. BOTH HE AND I ASSUMED THAT SOMEONE SPILLED SOMETHING ON IT. THE STICKINESS WAS LOCATED ON BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD. ON APRIL 27TH, 2014 I DROVE MY VEHICLE ON A TRIP TO SOUTH FLORIDA TO SEE MY SISTER GRADUATE COLLEGE. WHEN I RETURNED, ON MAY 5TH I TOOK MY CAR TO HAVE IT WASHED AND CLEAN THE INSIDE. WHILE WIPING OFF THE DASHBOARD I NOTICED THE STICKINESS AGAIN AND MY FINGERNAIL SWIPED ACROSS THE DASH AND LEFT A GASH IN THE DASHBOARD. I DO NOT HAVE LONG NAILS. I THEN BEGAN TO FEEL AROUND ON THE DASHBOARD AND NOTICED THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD WAS SOFT AND COULD BE EASILY DESTROYED. I THEN KNEW THAT THIS WAS NOT SOMETHING SOMEONE HAD SPILLED ON THE DASH AND REALIZED THIS IS A DEFECTIVE DASH BOARD. I BEGAN TO RESEARCH IT AND FOUND ARTICLE AFTER ARTICLE ONLINE WHERE OTHER PEOPLE WERE REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN NAMED A ?MELTING DASHBOARD?. THIS HAS OCCURRED IN OTHER AUTO DEALER'S VEHICLES AS WELL AS TOYOTA'S. I HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT OTHER DEALERS HAVE REPLACED THE DASH BOARDS AND HAVE CALLED THEM DEFECTIVE. *TR
ENTIRE DASHBOARD HAS BECOME STICKY AND REFLECTIVE EFFECTING MY VISION, BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD. UNABLE TO CLEAN.
COLD START NOISE
WHEN DRIVE MY CAR ( 2010 CAMRY LE) I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. WHEN SET IN CRUISE MODE THE CAR PICKS UP SPEED TO THE POINT IF I AM BEHIND A CAR I COULD CRASH INTO THEM IF I DON'T HIT THE BRAKE . THIS HAPPENS ANYTIME I USE THE CRUISE. AN ACCIDENT. WAITING TO HAPPEN IF I AM NOT WATCHING CLOSE. *TR
THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR WILL NOT STAY IN ITS FOLDED, UP POSITION AGAINST THE ROOF OF THE CAR. IT WILL FALL DOWN IMPEDING MY VIEW OF THE ROAD AND TRAFFIC. NO DAMAGE OR MISUSE HAS OCCURRED AND THE VISOR IS RARELY USED. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY SEVERE PROBLEM WERE THE VISOR TO FALL AT AN IMPROPER TIME, E.G. WHEN A VEHICLE BREAKS IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AND THIS SEEMINGLY MINOR DEFECT IS PUTTING MULTIPLE LIVES IN JEOPARDY. PLEASE REMEDY THIS SITUATION. *TR
MY CAR WAS CONSUMING OIL. AFTER EACH OIL CHANGE FOR THE PAST YEAR THE OIL IN MY ENGINE WOULD DISAPPEAR. I TOOK THE CAR BACK THREE TIMES COMPLAINING ABOUT THE OIL DISAPPEARING. EACH TIME, THEY WOULD TOP IT OFF WITH OIL AND TELL ME TO DRIVE IT FOR 1000 MILES AND BRING IT BACK. FINALLY, THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE MY CAR AND AN INSPECTOR WOULD COME OUT FROM TOYOTA TO MAKE A DETERMINATION IF MY ENGINE COULD BE REPAIRED OR IF IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE DECISION WAS MADE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. TOYOTA TOLD ME THAT IF MY CAR HAD NOT BEEN CERTIFIED, THE COST WOULD BE MINE. THEY PAID FOR IT. THIS MARKED THE THIRD MAJOR REPAIR ON A 2010 CAMRY AFTER DRIVING IT FOR 40,000. THE REAR BRAKES WERE STICKING AND THE BEARINGS IN THE FRONT WHEELS HAD TO BE REPLACED PRIOR TO THE ENGINE BLOWING OUT. RIDICULOUS! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. *TR

DASHBOARD IS STICKY. NOTHING CLEANS IT OFF. EVEN TOOK IT TO BE DETAILED THIS JANUARY (2015) & WAS TOLD THERE THAT IT IS A CHEMICAL REACTION THAT THE MANUFACTURER WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE DASH. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO A TOYOTA DEALER WITHIN A WEEK. *TR

MY 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY, I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG, BUT WHEN I DO MAINTENANCE AT DRIVER'S THEY TOLD ME THE FRONT STRUTS HAVE BEEN LEAKING FOR AWHILE. MY CAR ONLY 40000MILES. I DID DO MAINTENANCE. I THINK IT'S DEFECTIVE STRUTS. I ASK TOYOTA DEALER TO CHECK FOR ME TOMORROW. *TR
THE ENGINE BURNS OIL EXCESSIVELY 2 QTS PER OIL CHANGE EVERY 3000 MILES. I'M AFRAID THIS ENGINE MAY FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY FROM LACK OF OIL ON A LONG TRIP AND IF I DO NOT CHECK EVERY WEEK DURING REGULAR COMMUTES . I ALSO BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE, THIS OIL BURNING STARTED 5 YEARS AGO AT A SMALLER RATE 1/2 -1 QT PER OIL CHANGE NOW IT HAS DOUBLED. THERE HAS BEEN A TOYOTA EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED FROM TOYOTA FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR 2009 CAMRYS,BUT TOYOTA REFUSES TO GIVE THIS WARRANTY TO 2010 CAMRY OWNERS.THEY SAY ANY ENGINE DAMAGES IS THE CUSTOMERS RESPONSIBILITY. THE PRICE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WAS QUOTED BY THE DEALER AT $5000.
I HAVE NOTICED LATELY THAT WHEN I DEPRESS MY BRAKE PEDAL, IT STARTS TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN, BUT SUDDENLY DISENGAGES AND I HAVE TO DEPRESS MUCH HARDER. IT'S ALMOST LIKE THE BRAKES LET GO. MY CAR HAS ONLY 42453 MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE THE BRAKES INSPECTED DUE TO ROUGH BRAKING AND FOUND OUT THAT ALL OF THE STRUTS ARE LEAKING BADLY. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THE 2007 AND NEWER MODELS OF THE CAMRY AND I AM ALSO AWARE THAT TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN FOR OIL CHANGES AND INSPECTION AT SEVERAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS AND NOT ONCE HAVE THEY MENTIONED THE LEAKING STRUTS. WHEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT BRAKE SHOP THEY STATED THAT IT IS EVIDENT THAT THE LEAKING HAS GONE ON FOR QUITE SOME TIME. PLEASE DO A RECALL BEFORE SEVERE DAMAGE IS DONE AND MAKE TOYOTA PAY FOR THEIR SHODDY STRUTS AND ROTORS! I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $1500 FOR A MISTAKE THAT THEY MADE! EVERYONE I HAVE SPOKEN TO AND INVESTIGATED ONLINE WITH SAY THAT THIS IS HAPPENING ALL OVER AND TOYOTA IS GETTING AWAY WITH IT. PLEASE RECALL!!!! *TR
TL - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ABS ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 105,000. PM

THE VEHICLE IS BURNING TOO MUCH OIL.
IN EXTREMELY COLD WEATHER (LESS THAN 20 DEGREES)THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHEN FIRST DRIVEN IN THE MORNING AFTER MINIMUM 4 MINUTES IDLING. ENGINE RPM 3000 VEHICLE SPEED 1-2 MPH. TRANSMISSION WILL SLOWLY ENGAGE AS ENGINE WARMS UP. ALSO ENGINE AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT COME ON WHILE TRANSMISSION SLIPS. TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SLIP ON EVERY COLD DAY IT HAPPENS WHENEVER. IN WARM WEATHER, ALSO WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARMED UP THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS. TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED WITH A REBUILT FROM TOYOTA BUT IT STILL HAPPENS JUST A LITTLE LESS OFTEN. A YEAR LATER DECEMBER 2014 COLD WEATHER COMING , I'M AFRAID THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP AGAIN. THE LOCAL TOYOTA SHOP SHOULD BE CONSIDERING AN ELECTRICAL OR COMPUTER PROBLEM. *TR
