WHEN THE SEATBELT GETS PUSHED INTO THE BUCKLE IT DOES NOT SECURE NOR STAY LATCHED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT AND I WENT TO TRAVEL AND THE BUCKLE DOES NOT LATCH AT ALL.
AS I AM PULLING OFF, THE CAR HESITATES WHEN I GET TO ABOUT 20 MPH. TOYOTA TOLD ME IT IS THE TORQUE CONVERTER BUT THERE ISN'T A RECALL FOR IT. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING IN PLACE TO HAVE IT FIXED BUT THAT IT HAD EXPIRED IN OCTOBER 2020. I DID NOT START HAVING ISSUE UNTIL THE END OF NOVEMBER 2020 AND NEVER RECEIVED ANY TYPE OF LETTER OR NOTICE THAT THIS WOULD BE AN ISSUE I NEEDED TO GET TAKEN CARE OF BY OCTOBER 2020. I DON'T HAVE $1900.00+ JUST LAYING AROUND. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC AT THAT. I NEED THIS TAKEN CARE ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS BEYOND MY CONTROL AND TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER CENTRAL FLORIDA TOYOTA (11020 S ORANGE BLOSSOM TRAIL, ORLANDO, FL 32837). THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED RECALL EXPIRATION AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT QUALIFY FOR A FREE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,359.
THE CENTER ELECTRONIC 6 FUNCTION ETUNE CONSOLE, WHICH CONTAINS THE RADIO/CD PLAYER, GPS, CAR AND CELL PHONE OPERATIONS, DIED ON NOV 16, 2020. I MADE APPOINTMENT AND TOOK IT TO DAYTONA TOYOTA THE NEXT DAY. THE TECH DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND TOLD ME THAT THE RADIO UNIT WAS FRIED. SM SAID A REPLACEMENT UNIT WOULD COST $827. I AGREED. I DROVE MY CAR HOME AND NOTICED THAT THE RADIO HAD REVIVED, BUT THE ONLY THING IN THE LCD PANEL WAS THE STATION # IN THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF SCREEN. NO OTHER FUNCTION WORKED AND I NOTICED FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT THE STEERING WHEEL STEREO/MODE CONTROLS DID NOT WORK. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK 4 DAYS LATER TO HAVE THE RADIO REPLACED AND TOLD THEM THAT THE OLD RADIO AM/FM HAD BEEN WORKING, BUT NONE OF THE OTHER FUNCTIONS, AND THE STEERING WHEEL FUNCTION BUTTONS DID NOT WORK. THE TECH DID A 2ND DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND THAT THE WIRING HARNESS HAD BECOME TWISTED AND SOME OF THE CONNECTORS PULLED LOOSE. THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE AN ADDITIONAL $650 TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE WIRING HARNESS. THEY ORDERED THE PART AND REPLACED IT TWO DAYS LATER. HAS ANY OTHER TOYOTA OWNER REPORTED THIS PROBLEM?

THERE WERE SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VALLEY HI TOYOTA (14612 VALLEY CENTER DR, VICTORVILLE, CA 92395, (760) 241-6484) TO BE DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 130,000.
I WAS BRAKING ON TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT? BUT INSTEAD OF BRAKING IT WAS LIKE I HAD HIT THE ACCELERATOR. I KEPT STOMPING THE BREAK BUT IT WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN ONLY ACCELERATED. THE CAR WENT UP OVER THE CURB INTO A METAL FENCE AND ALMOST HIT A BRICK WALL. I'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS WITH ANY CAR I'VE EVER HAD AND I'VE HAD QUITE A FEW TOYOTA'S AND A LOT OF THEM HAVE BEEN CAMRYS.
FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER, SHUDDERS AT 20-40 MPH. SLUGGISH ON GEAR CHANGES FROM 3 TO 4, TOYOTA HAS A WARRENTY EXTENSION FOR 5/20 OR 150000 MILES WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. THIS CAR DIDN'T FAULT UNTIL 9/20 AND 87,000, WELL UNDER MILEAGE, BUT TOYOTA IS IN WILLING TO STAND BY AND REPAIR THIS FAULTY PART
The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 35-40 MPH, the transmission was slipping and the vehicle was shuddering while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact released the accelerator pedal and was able to continue driving. However, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
ON HWY 65 MPH POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THEN LOST POWER STEERING AND THEN CAR DIED IN MIDDLE OF HWY AT 65 MPH SKIDDED TO A STOP. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING. I WAS ALMOST HIT 3 TIMES BY CARS TRYING TO STEER MY WAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CAR WAS TAKEN TO TWIN CITY TOYOTA AND I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT'S A RECALL ON OTHER CARS BUT NOT MINE. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED OTHER PEOPLE. I THREATENED TO CALL AND REPORT TO YOU, AND THEN THEY WERE WILLING TO HELP ME. CAR HASNT BEEN INSPECTED YET. I DROPPED KEY IN DROP BOX AT TWIN CITY TOYOTA IN HERCULANEUM MO. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT NOW.
WHEN THE VEHICLE GOES ON THE HIGHWAY OR THE CITY, IT GETS ABOUT 15.4 MPG INSTEAD OF ~30MPG. I HAVE USED 87 OCTANE GANE FROM DIFFERENT STATION STILL YIELDING THE SAME RESULT. THE AUTOREPAIR SHOP HAS CHECKED FOR EVERYTHING THAT COULD AFFECT GAS MILEAGE, BUT THERE IS NO PROBLEM, WHAT IS GOING ON? I BOUGHT TOYOTA FOR RELIABILITY AND FUEL EFFICIENCY, NOT TO BEHAVE LIKE A TRUCK.
I I TRIED TO USE MY FOREVER WARRANTY ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT NO HELP. AT 165000 MY CAR HAS BEGIN TO SHUDDER AT 35, 45, 55 MPH INTERVALS , ANYWHERE THE CAR IS DRIVEN.
2012 Toyota Camry has Torque Converter Shudder issues and they knew about it. They also ran the Warranty Enhancement program but failed to notify its owners. I never received about this Warranty from them. I had this wired noise for brief seconds when driving at a speed of 50-65MPH and told the Toyota authorized repair and maintenance center about it when I took my car for regular maintenance. They checked my car and also failed to update me on this extended warranty and could not find the issue. They knew that this was an ongoing issue but did not bother to correctly update me on this. I only happen to know about this when my transmission started to slip and was searching if there was any recall and found about their Warranty Enhancement program as mentioned https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10129984-9999.pdf but it was too late. I also called the Toyota Engagement Center to discuss this but they said they can't do anything as the program expired. The car now slows down itself when driving either in 20-25MPH or 55-60MPH and this could lead to unforeseen situations and could be a safety issue for the roads and highways I would like NHTSA to step in and make this a safety recall. It looks like almost all 2012 Camry are affected by this issue.
EPS LIGHT IS COMING ON. I SEE THAT OTHER CARS THAT IS ON RECALL ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UPS
TORQUE CONVERTER, (UPON ACCELERATION VEHICLE DELAY IN ACCELERATING/SHIFTING AND ABNORMAL HEAVY VIBRATION/SHUDDERING FELT ), I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT WHILE TRYING TO CHANGE LANE A FEW TIMES, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE/SHIFTING CORRECTLY/DELAYED,(MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE IN THE VEHICLE), TOOK THE VEHCILE TO TOYOTA DEALER, SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT THE TECH COULD NOT DUPLICATE CONCERN, WHEN CLEARLY THERE IS A PROBLEM, DID SOME READING/RESEARCH ONLINE ALOT OF CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING TOYOTA TURNING A BLIND EYE WHEN IT COME TO THIS SPECIFIC CONCERN ( TORQUE CONVERTER SHUDDERING) THEY GIVING CUSTOMER THE RUNNING AROUND,NO WARNING LAMP ON WHEN PROBLEM OCCUR.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA ID Number: 10109488 (Power Train) and had been previously been repaired under the TSB Limited Service Plan; however, the repair failed to fix the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS EXTENDED BUT HAD SINCE EXPIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DRIVER SIDE MIRROR ADJUSTMENT SWITCH IS NOT WORKING.
CAR WAS TAKEN FOR BUSINESS AND DAMAGE TO THE CLIP OF MY FRONT BUMPER AND PASSENGER BOTTOM FRONT AIR DEFLECTOR AND BEEN NEEDING REPAIR FOR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT THE CAR. *TR
I RECENTLY TOOK MY 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY SE IN FOR THE REPAIR ON MY SWAY BARS AND I HEARD A RATTLING NOISE IN/NEAR MY STEERING WHEEL/COLUMN. I THEN TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE LOWER STEERING SHAFT REPLACE BUT THE RATTLING NOISE WAS THERE AND WAS GETTING WORSE. I TOOK MY CAR TO ANOTHER CERTIFIED MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION AND HE SAID THAT THE POWER STEERING ELECTRICAL COMPONENT SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND GET OVERLY ANXIOUS WHEN I DRIVE BECAUSE ONCE YOU GET TO AT LEAST 30 MPH IT SOUNDS LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL IS GOING TO COME. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID FOR ME TO BRING IT BACK IN BUT THEY HAVE TRIED TO DIAGNOSIS THREE TIMES. THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. I ALSO HAD THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER STRUT AND SHOCK, AND MOUNT ASSEMBLY REPAIRED.
2012 TOYOTA CAMRY HAS ACCELERATION HESITATION PROBLEMS BETWEEN 35 MPH -45 MPH. THERE IS ALSO A SHUDDER ASSOCIATED WITH IT. AFTER A PAUSE, THE CAR THEN PICKS UP TO NORMAL SPEED. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE CAR TRIES TO ACCELERATE FROM 25 MPH
I HAD 3 INSTANCES WHEN THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND ANOTHER INSTANCE WHEN THE MASTER WARNING LIGHT DID THE SAME. I CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THAT I DIDN'T QUALIFY BECAUSE THE LIGHT HAS TO STAY ON. IF I WANTED IT CHECKED OUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A FEE OF $130 AND EVEN THEN IT MAY NOT BE COVERED BY TOYOTA . THESE INSTANCES HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND ON ONE OCCASION THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. ABS
IT WAS DARK AND RAINING. I WAS TURNING LEFT FROM A PARKING LOT ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC TO THE MEDIAN. I CROSSED IN FRONT OF A WHITE VEHICLE ON THE OUTSIDE LANE THAT WAS SLOWING AND TURNING. HOWEVER, THERE WAS ANOTHER BLACK VEHICLE ON THE INSIDE LANE THAT WAS HIDDEN FROM MY VIEW. THE LIGHTS BLENDED WITH THE GLARE OF ALL THE OTHER LIGHTS ON THE ROAD. AS I CROSSED, I WAS HIT ON FRONT DRIVER SIDE BY THE BLACK VEHICLE TRAVELLING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, NO BRAKING BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T SEE ME EITHER. CAR TOTALED. NO AIRBAG DEPLOYED. MY HEAD HIT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AREA SO HARD IT BROKE THE GLASS. I HAVE SIX STITCHES IN THE SIDE OF MY HEAD AND HUGE HEMATOMA ON MY SCALP. LARGE GOOSE EGG HEMATOMA ON MY LEFT TEMPLE AREA. CAUSED CONCUSSION AND HAVE POST CONCUSSIVE SYNDROME. HORRIBLE HEADACHES, BLURRY VISION, SORE AND STIFF NECK. THE OTHER VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. UPDATE 4/10/20: I STILL HAVE A SMALL HEMATOMA ON MY LEFT TEMPLE AND TWO ON MY SCALP. THEY ARE HEALING SLOWLY. I HAVE NECK ISSUES AND NEED CHIROPRACTIC CARE, BUT CANNOT GET IT NOW DUE TO CORONA VIRUS.

The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH and making a lane change, the vehicle started vibrating while depressing the accelerator pedal, but failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the hesitation lasted for approximately 10 to 15 seconds, before the vehicle jerked forward and accelerated as needed. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer however, the mechanic could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure became a recurring failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 25 TO 40 MPH THE CAR SHUDDER AND THE ENGINE VIBRATES. I BELIEVE IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE GEARS AND I HOPE TOYOTA WILL FIX IT FOR FREE.
CAR STARTS TO SHUTTER AND ACCELERATION DECREASED BETWEEN 15-45 MPH, THE SHUDDER CAUSES THE CAR TO LAG AT THIS TIME. WE BEGAN TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 30,000 MILES FOR THE ISSUE. WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT SEE A PROBLEM AT THE DEALERSHIP. THERE WAS A SERVICE ORDER TO CARS SOFTWARE BUT THAT STILL DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. WE LATER FOUND OUT THAT PROBLEM WAS THE TORQUE CONVERTER BUT INSTEAD OF RECALLING THIS TOYOTA ISSUED A SERVICE ORDER, BUT NO NOTICE EVER CAME AND THE DEALER NEVER MENTIONED WHEN CAR WAS TOOK IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE. TOYOTA SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE CAR AND THAT IT WOULD COST ABOUT $4000 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. FOR THIS CAR, COMPLAINTS FROM NUMEROUS CUSTOMER SHOW THAT HALF OF THE TRANSMISSIONS HAVE NEEDED REPLACED EVEN AFTER THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. TOYOTA HAS HAD TO RECALL OTHER VEHICLES DUE TO THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM BUT STILL HAVE NOT RECALLED THE 2012-2014 CAMRY. THE LAG AND POTENTIAL MOTOR MOUNT BREAKS ARE A DANGER WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. TOYOTA SHOULD BE FORCED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT AS I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED NUMEROUS TIMES DUE TO THE LAG ON THIS CAR.

I HAVE A 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE MAKING A TURN THE CAR LOSES ACCELERATION. IF THE TURN IS LONG, AS IN A CLOVERLEAF EXIT, THE VEHICLE WILL ALMOST STOP. PRESSING THE GAS HAS NO EFFECT. THE VEHICLE WILL LAG UNTIL IT ALMOST STOPS OR UNTIL YOU COME OUT OF THE TURN. FROM WHAT I FIND ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2012 AND LATER TOYOTA CAMRYS BUT DEALERS STONEWALL ABOUT IT. I HOPE YOU GET ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ON THIS TO ISSUE A RECALL.
MY 2012 CAMRY SE 4 CYLINDER HAS AN ISSUE WITH ITS TORQUE CONVERTER. MY CAR SHUDDERS AND HAS A DELAY WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD. THIS HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED AND IS KNOWN BY TOYOTA. I HAD MY CAR DIAGNOSED AND QUOTED BY TOYOTA FOR THIS ISSUE 17 MONTHS AGO. I COULD NOT AFFORD THE $3000 QUOTE AT THAT TIME. I FOUND OUT LAST WEEK THAT THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE! I CALL TOYOTA ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT I WAS 2 MONTHS OUTSIDE OF MY WARRANTY. I TOLD THEM I HAD THE CAR DIAGNOSED AND QUOTED WELL BEFORE THE WARRANTY DATE, BUT WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE WARRANTY OR PREVALENT ISSUE WITH THIS YEARS TORQUE CONVERTER. IF I HAD KNOWN THIS I WOULD HAVE HAD THEM REPLACE THIS FOR FREE, BUT I WAS NOT INFORMED AT THAT TIME. I HAVE SINCE CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED THE ISSUE, BUT THEY STATED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITHIN THE WARRANTY TIME FRAME AND THE DEALERSHIP FAILED TO LET ME KNOW THIS WAS COVERED, THEY WOULD DO NOTHING FOR ME. I AM VERY UPSET THIS IS HAPPENING, AND VERY UPSET THAT THIS KNOW ISSUE YOU SEE OVER 50 COMPLAINTS ABOUT ON THIS SITE, IS ONLY REMEDIED WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND NOT A RECALL. I AM BEING WRONGED BY TOYOTA AND NO ONE WILL HELP ME, OR ALL OF US 2012 CAMRY OWNERS WHO WHERE EFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE!
WHILE DRIVING ON ANY ROAD BETWEEN 20 AND 40 MPH, 3RD AND 4TH SPEED, THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS AND WHILE PRESSING THE GAS, THE VEHICLE HESITATES. SOMETIMES IT IS SOMEWHAT CLEAR TO ACCELERATE, OTHER TIMES IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE FIGHTING A WALL THAT WILL NOT MOVE. I BELIEVE FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ECU AND A POSSIBLE FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BY THE NHTSA PROACTIVELY, AND NOT LEFT TO THE INDIVIDUAL CONSUMER TO SEE IF THE ISSUE RESOLVES ITSELF. IF THE CAR FAILS IN MOVING TRAFFIC, SOMEONE COULD HIT ME FROM BEHIND. AT THIS TIME, I AM HAVING TO GO FROM 2ND SPEED TO 4TH SPEED BY 40 MPH TO GO AROUND 3RD GEAR ALTOGETHER. THIS IS NOT THE WAY THE CAR SHOULD OPERATE. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS ON ANY ROAD AT ANY TIME.
TORQUE CONVERTER IS FAULTY. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ON MY 2012 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF. THE RECALL WAS ACKNOWLEDGED BY TOYOTA AND ONLY COVERED 5 YEARS 60,000 MILES. I NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING IN WRITING ABOUT THIS RECALL AND THERE ARE MANY CONSUMERS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ONLINE. I CANNOT AFFORD A NEW VEHICLE AND NEED THIS REPAIRED BY TOYOTA.

YESTERDAY CONTACTED TOYOTA HELP CENTER AND SAID IT WAS A SERVICE CUSTOMER ADVICE THAT EXPIRED ON 2019 I EXPLAINED THAT NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER OR E-MAIL ADVISING ABOUT THAT SERVICE I AM RETIRED AND MY CAR HAS 62,000 K MILES AND OUT OF WARRANTY NOW BUT IT HAS TO BE FIXED BECAUSE I AM AFRAID TO USE IT NOW, AND AFTER SEE THE COMPLAINTS ON INTERNET THAT IS A SUBJECT THAT TOYOTA HAS TO ADDRESS BECAUSE IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR FOR A DAMAGED LITTLE PART ON THE STEERING ELECTRIC MOTOR, SO WHEN DRIVING IS RATTLING AND STATIONARY PARKING WHEN YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL EITHER SIDE YOU CAN HEAR THE CLICKING NOISE.
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON 12/14/19 . I WAS HEADING OUT ON DRIVEWAY IN MY APARTMENT COMPLEX, SITTING OUT IN STREET A LITTLE BIT IN BIKE LANE WAITING ON TRAFFIC TO PASS ON A BUSY STREET (BELLFLOWER BLVD.) CAR FROM FAR LANE CHANGED OVER AND HIT MY CAR ON FRONT DRIVER SIDE BY FRONT TIRE KNOCKED INTO PARKED VEHICLE. CAR LOST ALL FLUIDS AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. I SUFFERED FRACTURED RIB, BRIDES, SWOLLEN HAND AND FINGER. I LOVED MY CAMRY NEVER HAD ANY MAJOR PROBLEM. I FELT LIKE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. AND YES I DID TAKE IT IN FOR THE RECALL.
AS I WAS DRIVING, ALL OF THE LIGHTS (OIL, BRAKE, ABS, CHECK ENGINE) ALL OF IT CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME AND MADE A NOISE AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN , WHILE I WAS DRIVING. GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS - TOYOTA HAS EXTENDED THE FACTORY WARRANTY ON THE TORQUE CONVERTER, BUT, ONLY FOR UNDER 150,000 MILES. I HAVE 155,000 MILES ON MY CAMRY XLE. SO I CALLED TOYOTA AND WANTED TO WORK SOMETHING OUT WITH THEM. THEY WERE NICE BUT IN THE END THEY WERE UNWILLING TO WORK ANYTHING OUT. LONG STORY SHORT I NEED TO SPEND $2500 IF I WANT TO FIX THE TORQUE CONVERTER. AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED THE CAR IS NOW JUNK!

AT 95,000 MILES A DAILY SHUDDER STARTED HAPPENING WHEN YOU FIRST PULL OUT OF SOMEWHERE AND START ACCELERATING USUALLY BETWEEN 15-45 MPH, THE SHUDDER CAUSES THE CAR TO LAG AT THIS TIME. AFTER RESEARCHING AND TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION , IT IS ACTUALLY SOFTWARE AND TORQUE CONVERTER FAILURE. INSTEAD OF RECALLING THIS TOYOTA ISSUED A SERVICE ORDER, BUT NO NOTICE EVER CAME AND THE DEALER NEVER MENTIONED WHEN CAR WAS TOOK IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS UP SAME MONTH I RECEIVED THE CAR FROM MY MOTHER IN LAW WHO IS THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND TOOK VERY GOOD CARE OF THE CAR. I CALLED TOYOTA WHO INFORMED ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO HELP ME SINCE THE EXTENDED DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED. I HAVE READ THAT HALF OF THE TRANSMISSIONS HAVE NEEDED REPLACED EVEN AFTER THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. TOYOTA HAS HAD TO RECALL OTHER VEHICLES DUE TO THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM SO WHY HAVE THEY NOT RECALLED 2012-2014 CAMRY? THE ESTIMATES TO FIX COST ALMOST AS MUCH AS THE CAR IS WORTH. THE LAG AND POTENTIAL MOTOR MOUNT BREAKS ARE A DANGER WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. TOYOTA SHOULD BE FORCED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT TO THEIR MANY CONSUMERS AS NOT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LAYING AROUND TO FIX THE PROBLEM IF THEY SURVIVE BEING REAR ENDED DUE TO THE LAG AND OTHER POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUES THIS MAY CAUSE. ACCELERATING FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES MOVE ABOUT 10 FEET AND THEN HESITATE FOR ABOUT 1 TO 2 SECONDS. IT WILL THEN ACCELERATE NORMALLY. THE INTERMITTENT HESITATION COULD BE DANGEROUS.
