TAKATA RECALL- I NOTICED THE LAST WEEK AS I'M DRIVING MY SPEED FEELS AS IF IT'S DECREASING BUT THE SPEED ODOMETER IS NOT DECREASING AND WHEN I TURN MY STEERING WHEEL ( LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS) IT MAKING SCREECHING SOUNDS, AT FIRST THE SOUNDS WAS LIGHT BUT YOU CAN HEAR IT BUT TODAY (8-3-18) AS I TURN IN THE GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT IT WAS VERY LOUD AND I BARELY WAS TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. ONCE I GOT BACK INTO THE CAR, CUT THE IGNITION ON AND BACKED OUT THERE WAS NO SCREECHING SOUND BUT AS I'M DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE HEAD HOME THE SPEED STARTS BACK DECREASING A LITTLE, WHEN I TURNED INTO MY DIVE WAY THE SCREECHING SOUND STARTED BACK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING ABILITY WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST SINCE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
BRAKE BOOSTER - MY VEHICLE HAS 43,000 FOR 2015. ALL SERVICES ON MY VEHICLE HAVE BEEN WITH THE DEALER. BLAKE FLUID IS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER CAUSING THE BRAKE MAINTENANCE LIGHT TO COM ON. THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS NORMALLY NOT A PART THAT SHOULD FAIL SO SOON.
THE CAR ACCELERATED ITSELF
CAR WILL PULL HARD LEFT ON OCCASION WHILE DRIVING. ONCE CAR IS STOPPED AND RE-STARTED, ISSUE GOES AWAY. PULL IS HARD ENOUGH TO FORCE CAR INTO ON-COMING TRAFFIC. ALL EQUIPMENT HAS BEEN CHECKED AND VERIFIED IN GOOD WORKING ORDER MULTIPLE TIMES. MECHANICS BELIEVE ISSUE MAY BE WITH ELECTRONIC STEERING CONTROL BUT CANNOT VERIFY AS ISSUE CANNOT BE DUPLICATED AND IS RANDOM. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON HIGHWAYS, PARKING LOTS, CITY STREETS, ETC. CONDITION IS NOT AFFECTED BY DRIVING SURFACE. LAST OCCURANCE WAS 7/7/18.
BRAKE SYSTEM MAKES A LOUD 'CLACK' NOISE WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING IN REVERSE AND DRIVER APPLY THE SERVICE BRAKES PEDAL. TOYOTA DEALER STATED THAT THIS NOISE IS NORMAL. THEY ARE NOT TRYING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS SITUATION HAPPENS EVERY DAY INDEPENDENTLY OF HOW MANY HOURS OR DAYS VEHICLE BEING PARKED. NOISE CAN BE REPRODUCED ON PRIVATE GARAGE, PUBLIC ROAD AND OR HIGHWAY. THAT DISGUSTING NOISE IS ALWAYS THERE. TOYOTA IS NOT TAKING ANY ACTION ABOUT THIS... MAYBE THEY ARE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GET HURT OR KILL DUE TO DEFECTIVE BRAKE SYSTEM.
THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTS TO PULL ONE WAY OR THE OTHER AND LOOSES ACCURATE CONTROL OF STEERING WHILE DRIVING.
SEERING WHEEL WAS SHIFTING RIGHT AND WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF. A FEW DAYS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED BUT THIS TIME TO THE LEFT, TURNING THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN MADE IT STOP
2012-2014 MODEL YEAR CAMRY VEHICLES SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR U760E TORQUE CONVERTER SHUDDER TOYOTA HAD UPDATED SOFTWARE FOR TORQUE CONVERTER SHUDDER FOR YEAR FROM 2012-2014 BUT I OWN 2015 CAMRY AND I HAVE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY CAMRY YEAR 2015 CAR IS SHAKEY AND TOYOTA DEALER REFUSED TO UPDATE SOFTWARE FOR YEAR 2015 UNLESS PAY THEM $250.00 AND DUE TO REASON EFFECTED TRANSMISSION ON 2 TO 3 GEAR SHIFT IT HESITATE AT SPEED BELOW 20 MPH TAKES BRIEF 4 TO 5 SECONDS TO SHIFT GEAR.TOYOTA SHOULD OWNER RECALL ON CAMRYS AFTER YEAR 2014 AS WELL
THE LAST TIME THAT I TOOK MY OIL IN TO BE CHANGED, I WAS TOLD THAT I WAS 3 QUARTS LOW AND TO CHECK IT EVERY WEEK AS THIS YEAR AND MODEL HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE OIL BURNING UP. I AM JUST ABOUT DUE TO TAKE MY CAR IN AGAIN FOR ANOTHER OIL CHANGE AND I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO ADD 2 QUARTS OF OIL IN BETWEEN CHANGES. I HAVE LESS THAN 50,000 MILES ON MY CAR,
OIL LEAK FROM BACK OF ENGINE. OIL LEAK DETECTION W/DYE DURING OIL CHANGE.
AT 25-40 MPR THE STEERING UNEXPECTEDLY VEERS RIGHT OR LEFT. WHEN MAKING A TURN, STEERING FREQUENTLY DOES NOT RETURN TO NORMAL. ON OCCASION, THE STEERING SLOWLY PULLS LEFT OR RIGHT AS IF THE TIRE HAS LOW INFLATION. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A DANGER TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NUMEROUS STEERING COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE 2015 CAMRY, THE DEALER SAID THAT OUR VIN# IS NOT ON A RECALL LIST. I WOULD APPRECIATE ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSA.
WHOLE ELECTRICAL BOARD WENT OUT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE CARS AND TOYOTA REFUSES TO HELP FIX IT.
MY ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT WENT OUT IN THREE YEARS ...NOT ABLE TO PROGRAM ANYTHING OR LISTEN TO RADIO. I UNDERSTAND THAT TOYOTA HAD A MANUFACTURE PROBLEM WITH MODELS FROM 2014 AND 2015.... WHICH MY CAR FALLS IN THERE. THEY ARE NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THIS PROBLEM AND SAID THEY DONT HAVE A RECALL. HOWEVER TOYOTA DID SEND OUT NOTIFICATION TO MECHANICS TELLING THEM THERE WAS ISSUES WITH THESE ECUS . STANIONARY
WHEN IN MOTION AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEEDS ON CITY STREETS, THE STEERING OFTEN VEERS TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT UNEXPECTEDLY, AND AFTER MAKING A TURN, THE STEERING TENDS TO REMAIN IN THE TURN AND DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY RETURN TO A NEUTRAL POSITION.
IT ALL STARTED BACK IN JUNE OF 2018. MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTED TO PULL TO THE LEFT AND I INITIALLY THOUGHT THAT I HAVE A FLAT TIRE, BUT IT WAS NOT THE CASE. HERE IS WHAT HAPPENS. WHEN MY CAR IS TURNED ON AND START MOVING, THE STEERING WHEEL PULLS TO THE RIGHT OR TO THE LEFT. IT PULLS MOSTLY TO THE LEFT AND LOSES ACCURATE CONTROL OF STEERING WHILE DRIVING. IT DOESN'T STOP PULLING UNTIL THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON. THEN STEERING IS BACK TO NORMAL. I TOOK MY CAR TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP (WORLDTOYOTA, 5800 PEACHTREE INDUSTRIAL BLVD, ATLANTA, GA 30341) ON JULY 19, 2018 AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. THE DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND DIDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN WORSENING AND HAPPENS ALL THE TIME RIGHT NOW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT BLACKED OUT. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE RAN A STOP SIGN AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE BARRICADE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V144000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,100.
VEHICLE HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS PUSHED :WHEN STARTING FROM ZERO SPEED OR ACCELERATING AT CRUISING SPEED THE CAR OFTEN HESITATES MORE OFTEN THEN NOT THIS IS A ROAD HAZORD AND WORSE YET FOR ME THE VEHICLE NEVER DRIVES THE SAME. IT IS REALLY FRUSTRATING KNOWING THE MONEY I SPENT AND THE MONEY I WILL LOOSE ON TRADE DUE TO A VEHICLES PERFORMANCE THAT IS DOCUMENTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO FIX THE ISSUE. MY EXPERIENCE IS IT HAS NO BEARING ON VEHICLE SPEED WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS ITS RANDOM AND DIFFICULT TOTO PREDICT FOR ME ITS THE WORST DURING RUSH HOUR ON THE FREEWAY I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD LOOK FORWARD OR BEHIND TO SEE WHICH CAR COULD BECOME VICTOM OF THE ACCELERATION OR HESITATION.
THE CAR HAS STALLED THREE TIMES, TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY, ONCE LOSING POWER STEERING. TWICE ACCELERATING AT 5 AND 50 MPH AND ONCE IDLING AT 30 MPH. BATTERY AND CHARGING SYSTEM ERRORS ON DASH. EACH TIME, PULLING OVER, GOING TO PARK, AND RESTARTING WORKS. CRANK POSITION SENSOR WAS REPLACED AFTER SECOND STALL BASED ON ENGINE CODE P0339.
IS MAKING A NOISE ON PASSENGER SIDE AND THE STEERING IS FUNNY
WHEN I ACCELERATE 40 MPH OR HIGHER, MY CAR GIVES ME A SUDDEN SHUDDER IN THE VEHICLE. IT FEELS LIKE RUNNING OVER A ROUGH SPOT IN THE ROAD OR LIKE A RUMBLE BEFORE YOU REACH A TOLL BOOTH. AS QUICKLY AS IT APPEARS, IT IS GONE, UNTIL THE NEXT TIME IT APPEARS. MY CAR HAS ABOUT 95,000 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY AND I HAVE TAKEN TO SEVERAL SHOPS AND THEY ALL SAY THAT, TORQUE CONVERTER IS MAKING THAT SHUDDER WHICH IS RELATED TO TRANSMISSION AND MIGHT COST ME AROUND $2000 TO FIX. IF ANYONE FACE THE SAME ISSUE, PLEASE MAKE A REPORT SO THAT NHTSA CAN LOOK INTO IT.

THE CAR CLOCK HAS BEEN RUNNING FAST (4-5 MINUTES AFTER SIX MONTHS) STARTING FROM THE DATE PURCHASED (MAY 2015). MORE CRITICALLY, THE CLOCK STARTED TO SUDDEN CHANGE THE TIME AFTER STARTING THE CAR ENGINE. THE CLOCK SUDDEN CHANGE ISSUES HAVE HAPPENED THREE TIMES RECENTLY (FIRST ONE IN SEPTEMBER 2017, SECOND ONE IN JANUARY 2018, AND THIRD ONE IN APRIL 2018). ALTHOUGH IT REFLECTS ON CLOCK CHANGING BUT IT IS NOT SURE IF THE PROBLEM COULD BE EVEN MORE SERIOUS (LIKE ENGINE....). I CONTACTED THE TOYOTA DEALER AND TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE REGARDING THE ISSUES IN JANUARY 2018 AND APRIL 2018. HOWEVER, THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSED TO TAKE CARE OF ISSUES. PLEASE HELP US TO MAKE THE MANUFACTURER TO TAKE UP THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES. THANKS.
THE AIR BAG READINESS LIGHT ON YOUR VEHICLE ILLUMINATES WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE ON POSITION AND THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, WHICH IS INTENDED INDICATE A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM. THIS COULD BE AN UNSAFE CONDITION FOR THE DRIVER AND/OR FRONT PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. WE RECOMMEND YOU REFER TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL FOR INFORMATION ON THE AIR BAG READINESS LIGHT AND CONTACT QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN TO CORRECT THE SYSTEM TO MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATION. (THE ABOVE STATEMENT WAS PRINTED ON MY NYS INSPECTION CERTIFICATE). PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS A POSSIBLE RECALL.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING: AT TIMES CAR WOULD PULL VERY HARD TO EITHER THE LEFT OR RIGHT AT LOW SPEEDS. THE PULL WAS SO STRONG THAT IT WOULD PULL YOU OFF OF THE ROAD IF YOU WEREN'T GRIPPING THE STEERING WHEEL FIRMLY. THE PROBLEM WOULD PERSIST UNTIL THE VEHICLE SPEED REACHED APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND AFTER GETTING THE CAR TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND DETERMINED 'TORQUE SENSOR FOR STEERING OUT OF WHACK NEEDS BOTH GEAR, COLUMN, AND ECM COMPUTER.' THE 2015 CAMRY HAS A RECALL ON THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING BUT I AM TOLD MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THIS RECALL. THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS DEFECT IF THE PROBLEM OCCURRED UNEXPECTEDLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.
THE DASH HAS A CLICKING/POPPING NOISE EVERY TIME I BRAKE, IT CAN BECOME DISTRACTING WHEN I AM DRIVING. I HAVE REVIEWED A NUMBER OF BLOGS AND IT APPEARS THAT CUSTOMERS THAT PURCHASED THE SAME CARE HAVE A SIMILAR/SAME ISSUE AS I DO WITH THE 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY.
STEERING WHEEL LOSE CONTROL AND THE HAS TO BE HELD DOWN, TAKING THE WHEELS OUT OF CONTROL AND SWAYS FROM SIDE TO SIDE, SOMETIMES ON THE LEFT SOME TIMES ON THE RIGHT (STEERING WHEEL ASSIST)
JUST GOT THE CAR WITH 30000 MILES ON IT. LIKE A WEEK AGO STARTED NOTICING THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING GEARS TOO FAST. I'M GOING 30MPH AND IT'S IN 4TH GEAR! IT WASN'T DOING THIS WHEN I FIRST GOT IT. TRIED TO PASS SOMEONE UP ON HIGHWAY IT TOOK 2 SECONDS FOR THE RPM TO KICK IN ALMOST GOT RAN OFF THE ROAD BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. FROM A STOPLIGHT IT WILL HESITATE FOR 1 OR 2 SECONDS THEN TAKE OFF. THIS IS REALLY DANGEROUS IF SOMEONE HAS TO MAKE A QUICK TURN DURING TRAFFIC. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. PLEASE FIX IT SO I CAN ENJOY MY NEW CAR.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED FOR THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. TOYOTA DIRECT (4248 MORSE RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43230, (614) 476-1979)WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WOULD BE A COST ASSESSED TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V144000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,048.
FREQUENTLY, THE INDICATOR FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SAYS "OFF", EVEN WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. OCCASIONALLY IT SAYS "ON" WHEN THERE IS NO ONE IN THE SEAT.
I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT. MY CAR STOPPED BUT WOULD CREEP UP UNTIL I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES HARDER. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN A ROW WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE. I LOOKED AT MY DASH AND IT SAID SOMETHING ABOUT CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM. I WENT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. WHEN THEY TRIED TO DUPLICATE IT THEY COULD NOT. THEY PULLED THE INFORMATION FROM THE COMPUTER TO FIND OUT MY BRAKE BOOSTER HAD FAILED? THEY ARE UNSURE IF IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I LOOKED UP ON THE INTERNET (NHTSA) TO SEE IF ANY OTHER 2015 TOYOTAS HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT SAID TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE YET THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH OF THEM HAVING THE ISSUE TO DO A RECALL. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! MY CAR HAS HAD ALL OF ITS REQUIRED MAINTENANCE.
2015 TOYOTA CAMRY SE THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS WHEN L ACCELERATE BETWEEN 20-25 MPH AND 40-50MPH. LT APPEARS QUICKLY AND GO AWAY WHEN YOU ACCELERATE OVER STATED MPH. MY HAS ABOUT 95,000 MILES ON IT. HAVE TOOK THE CAR TO SEVERAL SHOPS, WAS TOLD ITS THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THERE WAS SOFTWARE UPDATE AND RECALL ON 12-14 CAMRY ON THIS SAME ISSUE, THOUGHT TOYOTA WOULD HAVE FIX THIS ISSUE BEFORE THE ROLLED OUT 2015S. TOYOTA NEEDS A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND RECALL ON THE 2015 CAMRY FOR ANYONE HAVING THIS ISSUES.
TORQUE CONVERTER SHUDDERS AROUND 40-45 MPH IT GETS WORSE AND I HAVE TO LET OFF THE GAS OR SPEED UP FOR IT TO STOP, NOT SAFE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC!! BRAKE TYPE SQUEAK THAT WILL NOT STOP EVEN AFTER NEW ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS.
WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION AT REGULAR OR SLOW SPEED, THE MAINTENANCE LIGHT FLASHES ON FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS WHILE TURNING LEFT. MAINTENANCE TO THE CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN PERFORMED BY A TOYOTA DEALER.
THERE USED TO BE WHINING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL WHILE LEAVING PARKING. THIS MONTH I NOTICED THE STEERING SOMETIMES FEELS LOOSE WHILE DRIVING EITHER HIGHWAY OR CITY STREET. SOMETIMES IT VEERS LEFT, SOMETIMES VEERS RIGHT AND SOMETIMES NORMAL.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 65 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND MADE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND. THE DASHBOARD FLASHED WARNING LIGHTS "BRAKE" AND A 2ND WARNING OF "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM". I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND CONSULTED THE MANUAL WHICH SAID STOP IMMEDIATELY AND CONTACT TOYOTA DEALER, WHICH I DID. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO LIPTON TOYOTA, SUNRISE, FL (IT WAS NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE ON THE FREEWAY). BY THE TIME I REACHED THE DEALER THE BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT. THEY CALLED LATER AND INFORMED ME NOTHING WAS WRONG. I ASKED THEM TO RECHECK AS I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG SINCE THE BRAKE DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE. THEY KEPT THE CAR UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MORNING TO RECHECK THE CAR, AND AGAIN SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. IT HAPPENED TWICE ONE AT 22K AND ANOTHER AT 24K MILES
THE AUTONATION TOYOTA CERRITOS DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK BETWEEN THE FIRE WALL AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I WAS DRIVING HOME ON FRIDAY AUGUST 18TH AT ABOUT 35 MPH. ON A STRAIGHT ROADI SUDDENLY LOST MY STEERING. WHEN I GOT OUT TO LOOK AT IT THE RIGHT FROM WHEEL WAS TURNED 90 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT. WHEN LOOKING AT IT IT LOOKS LIKE THE RIGHT FRONT AXEL BROKE OR TIE RODS OR WHATEVER IS UNDER THERE. WHEN THE COLCHESTER POLICE CAME THEY DID NOT FILE AN ACCIDENT REPORT SINCE IT WAS THEIR BELIEF THAT SOMETHING ON THE CAR HAD BROKEN. THE OFFICER TOLD ME I WAS LUCKY TO ONLY BE GOING 35 AND NOT ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 65. WHEN THE WRECKER CAME HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS ON A CAMRY. I DID NOT HIT A POTHOLE OR CURB OR ANYTHING ELSE. NOW TOYOTA (HERITAGE TOYOTA, SOUTH BURLINGTON VT. IS NOT CONVINCED THAT IT WAS A DEFECT. THEY ARE WAITING FOR THEIR REGIONAL OFFICE TO MAKE A DETERMINATION. JUST TALKED TO HERITAGE TOYOTA AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT A DEFECT. HOWEVER THEY DID NOT SAY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THEY ARE ACTING LIKE THIS IS AN EVERY DAY OCCURRENCE. I JUST WANT TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF THIS IN CASE ANYONE ELSE HAD THE SAME ISSUE.

THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS JULY 2017. I WAS IN THE CITY SLOWED DOWN AND GOT IN WAY OF ON COMING TRAFFIC TURN LEFT ONTO ANOTHER STREET THE CAR JUST STALLED AND SAT THERE. NO POWER AT ALL. I TRIED PRESSING THE GAS, NOTHING, AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS IT FINALLY MOVED ACROSS WITH MOMENTS TO SPARE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. IT HAS COME TO THE POINT WHERE I DON'T MOVE ACROSS TO TURN UNLESS THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO TRAFFIC. THIS LOSS OF POWER SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE WHERE I NOW GET THIS SAME PROBLEM WHEN JUST DRIVING DOWN A STREET. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA I TOLD THEM I WANTED TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, ALL THEY DID WAS TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.THE NEXT TIME I MADE AND APPOINTMENT TO GET IT SERVICED I ASKED THEM AGAIN. THIS TIME THEY COMPLETELY IGNORED ME AND DID NOTHING AT ALL. THERE IS A NOTATION THAT I WANTED IT CHECKED FOR THE LOSS OF POWER BUT NOTHING WAS NOTATED AS BEING DONE. THIS IS GETTING SO DANGEROUS, I HATE TO DRIVE IT. THE CAR HAS JUST UNDER 22000 MILES.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 WITH 61000 MILES ON IT WHEN IT JUST LOST POWER ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ON A BACK ROAD. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND IS VERY RARE FOR IT TO GO OUT ESPECIALLY WITH A CAR WITH ONLY 61000.

I WAS DRIVING ON I35 NORTHBOUND AT SET SPEED LIMIT. SUDDENLY A MOTORBIKE IN FORNT OF ME ME HIT THE BRAKES TO AVOID COLLISION WITH A CAR IN FORNT OF IT. I HIT MY BRAKES, TO THE MAXIMUM. I SLID QUIET LONG DISTANCE AND CAME TO A FINAL STOP. I NEARLY HIT THE BIKER, BUT I COULD FEEL THE BRAKES NOT BEING ABLE TO SLOW DOWN THE CAR. A WEEK AFTER THIS, SAME THING HAPPENED BUT IN A CITY TRAFFIC SIGNAL. I WAS TRYING TO STOP IN A RED LIGHT, BUT AGAIN THE CAR SLID THIS TIME AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. LUCKILY NOBODY WAS IN THE STREET, OTHERWISE BOTH OF THESE INCIDENCES COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENTS.
THE "SMART KEY" IGNITION SYSTEM SOMETIMES FAILS TO WORK, AT IRREGULAR INTERVALS. DEALER SERVICE PEOPLE SAY THE WAY TO CORRECT THE FAILURE IS TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE SYSTEM THEN REBOOTS AND USUALLY WORKS OK THEREAFTER -- USUALLY. TODAY THE CAR WAS PARKED, SHE ENTERED, AND THE KEY FOB FAILED TO WORK. SHE HAD TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DRIVER'S DOOR 4 TIMES BEFORE IT DID WORK. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WHEN SHE IS FREQUENTLY THE LAST PERSON OUT OF THE LOT AT WORK, AND SHE MUST OPEN AND CLOSE HER DOOR BEFORE THE CAR WILL START AND THE PHONE BLUE-TOOTH WILL WORK. THE DEALER PLEADS IGNORANCE EVEN THOUGH HIS SERVICE PEOPLE ARE FAMILIAR WITH THIS. CAR IS PARKED IN MODERN GARAGE OR OUTDOORS.
ACCELERATION HESITATION, NUMEROUS INSTANCES. ADVANCING FROM A STOP OR AT LOW SPEED, THE CAMRY HESITATES TO ACCELERATE FOR 2-10 SECONDS. ON JUNE 2, 2017 I HAD DRIVEN 5 BLOCKS, STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THEN ADVANCED TO ENTER 35-40 MPH HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. THE CAR ACHIEVED ABOUT 8 MPH, THEN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FOR OVER 5 SECONDS WHILE TRAFFIC IS COMING AT ME. VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE A DEALER APPOINTMENT ON 06JUNE2017 TO HAVE THIS LOOKED AT AGAIN. THEY HAVE TRIED DIAGNOSING THIS TWO PREVIOUS TIMES AND COULD FIND NOTHING. THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION 'LEARNS' FROM THE DRIVER, SO THEY ERASED THE LEARNING TO START AFRESH. THIS DID NOT CURE THE PROBLEM. THE HESITATION IS INFREQUENT, BUT VERY DANGEROUS. NO REGULAR PATTERN TO IT. CAN OCCUR WHEN STARTING A DRIVE, OR WHEN THOROUGHLY WARMED UP.
