WHILE DRIVING MY BRAKE ALARM WENT OFF AND THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF. THE BRAKES WHERE HARD TO PRESS AND TO STOP. I TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA AND FOUND THAT THE "BRAKE BOOSTERS" HAVE FAILED. I WAS TOLD TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT NOT ENOUGH CARS TO DO A RECALL. THEY ONLY POSTED A BULLETIN FOR THEM . I CAN'T BELIEVE MY LIFE WAS IN THEIR HANDS AND WAS NEVER TOLD BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE ARE HAVING AN ISSUE. THEY REPLACE THE PART BUT NOW I FEEL UNSAFE IN A NEW CAR...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATE 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A VIBRATING MOTION. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE DRY SHAFT AND THE TRANSMISSION WERE REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7.
SPEEDOMETER DISAGREES WITH DIGITAL SPEED READOUT IN DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER. SPEEDOMETER READS APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH HIGHER THAN DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER IN DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER.
FUEL GAUGE READ EMPTY UPON STARTUP AFTER 36 HOURS ENGINE OFF. ACTUAL FUEL LEVEL 3/4 FULL. GAUGE READ ACCURATELY AFTER 4 MILE DRIVE AND RESTART.
THE CHROME FINISH ON THE FRONT DASH SIDE AIR VENTS ARE REFLECTED IN THE OUTSIDE SIDE MIRRORS, CAUSING AN UNUSUAL AND SURPRISING DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR WAS JUST BOUGHT, AND OTHERWISE SATISFACTORY. WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS REMEDIED BY TOYOTA, AS THE CHROME COULD BE PAINTED BLACK, AND THEREBY ELIMINATING THE REFLECTIONS IN THE SIDE MIRRORS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED AND THE NAVIGATION DISPLAY FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT PULLED TO THE ROADSIDE AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE CHECK ENGINE, TRACTION, AND ANTI-BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PURGE VALVE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,200.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V144000 (STEERING); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF THE TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THREE DAYS AFTER WE PURCHASED THE CAR, WE WERE BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY, BRAKE TO STOP BEFORE PULLING INTO THE STREET AND THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP. WE HEARD A CLANKING NOISE AND IT TOOK EXTRAORDINARY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO, AFTER INSPECTING THE CAR AND DRIVING IT FOR A DAY OR TWO COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THIS HAPPENED A SECOND TIME APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS LATER UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS. AT THAT TIME, THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER SAW A NOTICE FROM THE CORPORATE OFFICE INDICATING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM IN SOME 2015 CAMRY'S WHICH WERE MANUFACTURED DURING A CERTAIN PERIOD OF TIME. THE PROBLEM INVOLVED THE "BRAKE BOOSTER" WHICH WAS REPLACED IN OUR CAR AFTER THE SECOND BRAKE FAILURE. WITHIN ANOTHER WEEK, THE SAME THING HAPPENED TWICE AGAIN. WE REFUSED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK AND TOYOTA BOUGHT BACK THE CAR AND REFUNDED THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE CAR. *TR
TRAVELING ON STH 13 IN IOWA. DOG RAN IN FRONT OF ME AND I COULD NOT AVOID HIM. ALL 11 AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CAR WAS IMMOBILIZED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD BLOCKING ONE LANE AND PARTIALLY THE SECOND. DOORS COULD NOT BE OPENED AND CAR COULD NOT BE MOVED. WE WERE NEAR A MINI MART AND TWO GENTLEMEN RAN DOWN AND OPENED THE DRIVERS DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. HE THEN USED HIS KNIFE TO PUNCTURE THE AIR BAG MY SIDE AND CUT IT OFF SO I COULD GET OUT. WE THEN WENT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND OPENED THE DOOR FOR MY WIFE. SHE WAS ABLE TO SLIDE UNDER THE AIR BAG ONCE THE DOOR WAS OPENED. I THEN GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND PEOPLE WHO HAD STOPPED MANAGED TO PUSH THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEFLATE EVEN AFTER SEVERAL HOURS, CONTACT WITH DOG DID MINOR DAMAGE TO THE CAR. GRILL WAS LOOSE AND FRONT BUMPER SKIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AIR BAG COSTS WERE OVER $20,000. CAR WAS TOTALED BY INSURANCE COMPANY. ..MY WIFE WAS HIT IN THE FACE WITH AN AIR BAG CAUSING A SPLIT LIP AND A DAMAGED EYE. WE VISITED THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND NO FURTHER TREATMENT WAS REQUIRED...WHEN THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED ALL VISION FROM THE CAR WAS BLOCKED. ONLY THE TWO FRONT AIR BAGS DEFLATED, ALL OTHER AIR BAGS STAYED INFLATED FOR HOURS. AFTER THE MINOR ACCIDENT WE WERE LEFT SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF A STATE HIGHWAY UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING AND UNABLE TO GET OUT. I WOULD COMPARE IT TO BEING BLINDFOLDED AND LEFT STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY, WE WERE TERRIFIED. I FEEL THAT THE ACTIVATION OF THE AIR BAGS IN THE CASE OF MINOR COLLISION IS VERY DANGEROUS, WE HAVE HIT ANIMALS HARDER IN THE PAST AND CONTINUED ON WITH OUR JOURNEY. IN ADDITION THE FACT THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEFLATE AND LEFT US UNABLE TO EXIT THE CAR IS AN UNACCEPTABLE HAZARD. IF PEOPLE HAD NOT BEEN ON THE SCENE WE COULD HAVE BEEN LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD FOR HOURS, UNABLE TO SEE ANYTHING....UPDATED 12/16/15 *BF *TR UPDATED 10/3/2017*CN
AS I AM DRIVING AT ANY SPEND MY CAR SHIFTS ON IT'S OWN TO 2ND GEAR! THE SHIFTER IS STILL IN "D". I AM NOT TOUCHING ANYTHING. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I AM ON A HIGHWAY OR MY STREET IT HAS SHIFTED MANY OF TIMES IN FAST AND SLOW SPEEDS. I HAVE OVER 30 VIDEOS OF THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS CAR . IT WAS THE SHOWROOM FLOOR CAR AND ONLY HAD 13 MILES AT PURCHASE.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND MADE A LOUD GRINDING SOUND. THE DASHBOARD FLASHED WARNING LIGHTS "BRAKE" AND A 2ND WARNING OF "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM". I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND CONSULTED THE MANUAL WHICH SAID STOP IMMEDIATELY AND CONTACT TOYOTA DEALER, WHICH I DID. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO AUTO NATION IN WESTON, FL (I WAS VERY CLOSE WHEN THIS HAPPENED). BY THE TIME I REACHED THE DEALER THE BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT. THEY CALLED LATER AND INFORMED ME NOTHING WAS WRONG. I ASKED THEM TO RECHECK AS I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG SINCE THE BRAKE DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE. THEY KEPT THE CAR UNTIL THE FOLLOWING MORNING TO RECHECK THE CAR, AND AGAIN SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. THEY INFORMED ME THE CAR DIDN'T KNOW IT DID ANYTHING WRONG, MY REPLY WAS THAT I KNEW THE CAR DID SOMETHING WRONG. (THE SERVICE TICKET READS: "PERFORMED HEALTH CHECK, NO PROBLEM FOUND, NO REPAIRS PERFORMED") I AM VERY RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THE CAR NOW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING IN THE SNOW, THE WHEEL WELLS BECAME CLOGGED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO EXPERIENCE STEERING FAILURES. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING FAILURE DURING BAD WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR BRAKES SEIZED AND THE CALIPER BRACKETS MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING HOT SPOTS ON THE REAR ROTORS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100.
WHEN DRIVING ON A SUNNY DAY---OR AT NIGHT ON A LIGHTED THOROUGHFARE---WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED UP, THE FOLLOWING OCCURS: THE AC OUTLET ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, AS WELL AS THE AC OUTLET ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE---BOTH OF THESE IMAGES (THAT IS, THE ENTIRE AC OUTLET, INCLUDING THE CHROME BEZEL SURROUNDING IT) ARE REFLECTED ONTO THE DRIVER & FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS---AND THEN SUBSEQUENTLY REFLECTED ONTO THE 2 OUTSIDE MIRRORS. THE RESULT IS THAT, WHEN ANOTHER AUTO IS APPROACHING ON EITHER THE LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR VEHICLE, THEN YOU WILL SEE THE APPROACHING CAR IN THE OUTSIDE MIRROR, BUT SUPERIMPOSED OVER IT WILL BE THE ENTIRE REFLECTION OF THE AC OUTLETS. THUS, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT, WHEN LIGHT ENTERS THE CAR & HITS ON THE AC OUTLETS, THEN THE IMAGE IS REFLECTED ONTO THE SIDE WINDOWS, & THEN CONTINUES ITS REFLECTION ONTO THE OUTSIDE MIRRORS. HOWEVER, WHEN THE WINDOWS ARE ROLLED DOWN, THERE IS NO REFLECTION ISSUE AT ALL. IN ADDITION, ALL OF THE BUTTONS & SWITCHES INSIDE THE CAR ARE COATED WITH SOME SORT OF CHEMICAL, WHICH MAKES THEM ALL LIGHT UP AT NIGHT IN A BLUE TONE; THIS MAKES IT VERY EASY TO IDENTIFY BUTTONS/SWITCHES IN THE DARK; HOWEVER, SOME OF THE BUTTONS ALSO ARE REFLECTED ONTO THE SIDE WINDOWS, & END UP AS WELL ON THE OUTSIDE MIRRORS (IN PARTICULAR, THE BLIND SPOT MONITOR, TRACTION CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE, & DYNAMIC RADAR BUTTONS, WHICH ARE LOCATED ON THE DASHBOARD JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. MY DEALERSHIP TRIED THEIR BEST TO CORRECT THE ABOVE "DESIGN FAULTS", BUT WERE UNABLE TO DO SO. I HAVE 2 CASE #'S: ONE IS WITH THE DEALERSHIP --#[XXX]; THE OTHER IS WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE, #[XXX].
