SOMETIMES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE ENGINE SEEMS TO HAVE A SLIGHT HESITATION. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING BECAUSE YOU COULD INADVERTENTLY PULL OUT IN FRONT OF ANOTHER DRIVER AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE IT HARMS SOMEONE.
1. WHILE STATIONARY WITH FOOT ON BREAK THE VEHICLE STARTS TO ROLL FORWARD REQUIRING MORE AND MORE BREAK PRESSURE. BRAKE PEDDLE WILL SLOWLY FADE TO FLOOR. 2. WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED 65 MPH ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE LANES AFTER DECELERATION OR BREAKING THE ENGINE WILL RUNAWAY OVER 5,000 RPM CAUSE A LONG DELAY IN SPEAD INCREASE WHICH CAN BE CRUCIAL FOR MATCHING TRAFFIC FLOW. RESULT IS POTENTIAL FOR COLLISION FROM REAR. 3. THE TOYOTA ENTUNE / SCOUT GPS SYSTEM FAILS TO PROVIDE RELIABILITY AS A HANDSFREE OPERATION SYSTEM, IT CONSTANTAILY CRASHES, REQUIRING A VEHICLE STOP WITH ENGINE RESTART TO CLEAR FALT CONDITION.
THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY, AND HESITATES. WHEN NEEDING TO MAKE A SUDDEN ACCELERATION, THE VEHICLE ROLLS SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE ACCELERATING. I ALMOST GOT HIT SEVERAL TIMES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE REARVIEW MIRRORS WOULD REFLECT THE INTERIOR VENTS, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ROSENTHAL ACURA (623 FREDERICK RD, GAITHERSBURG, MD 20879, (877) 300-4226), BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER WOULD ERRATICALLY DOWNSHIFT AND UP SHIFT, AND THE ENGINE RPMS WOULD REV VERY HIGH. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO A SECOND VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (TOYOTA OF GRAND RAPIDS, 2555 28TH ST. SE, GRAND RAPIDS MI) AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPROGRAMMED, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. IN ADDITION, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ACTIVATED, THE WINDOWS INSIDE THE VEHICLE WOULD FOG UP AND CREATE A VISIBILITY HAZARD. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
CAR FRONT GRILL DESIGN IS SO POOR THAT DAMAGE CAUSED BY NORMAL ROAD DEBRIS ALREADY PUNCTURED MY AC CONDENSE LEAKING FREON / AC COOLANT TO RELEASE IN TO ENVIRONMENT /HARMING ENVIRONMENT AS WELL AS INCREASING REPAIR COST. 2 TIMES IN LAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE RELAPSED MY FRONT AC CONDENSER DUE TO STICK OF WOOD OR PEBBLE GOING THROUGH FRONT GRILL EASILY AND PUNCTURING.
1. EVERY TIME I BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY MY BRAKES SQUEAK VERY LOUDLY. 2. THE TRANSMISSION NEVER KNOWS WHAT GEAR TO BE IN WHILE DRIVING AND WILL CLUNK IN AND OUT OF GEAR WHILE IN MOTION. 3. HAS A TERRIBLE BURNING SMELL OF PLASTIC AND OIL LIKE WHEN THE CAR ENGINE IS HOT. 4. DRIVE SIDE CABIN HAS A CONSTANT ANTIFREEZE SMELL WHILE RUNNING THE A/C 5. THE ENGINE HAS A HORRIBLE LOAD KNOCKING NOISE WHILE RUNNING. IT SOUNDS LIKE A VERY OLD CAR. 6. I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE ACCELERATION OF THE CAR OR IF IT WAS DESIGNED THIS WAY BUT THE 3-5 SEC DELAY IS DANGEROUS I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT EACH ONE OF THESE ITEMS TO THE TOYOTA DEALER IN GASTONIA NC AT THE 5 MILE, 10MILE AND 15MILE SERVICE AND EACH TIME THE DEALER JUST TELLS ME ITS FINE AND THAT'S NORMAL.
WHEN SLOWLY ACCELERATING FROM ABOUT 20 MILES PER HOUR TO ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR AND AROUND 2500 REVOLUTION PER MINUTE, THE ENGINE AND/OR TRANSMISSION SHAKES AND/OR STALL.
AFTER TAKING DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES VERY POOR AND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SET ON CRUISE CONTROL IT WOULD DROP SPEED FOR NO REASON.
TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ISSUES WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING VENTS. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR VENTS WERE VISIBLE IN THE SIDE REAR MIRRORS. ALSO, THE PARK BRAKE PEDAL IS POSITIONED TOO CLOSE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. *JS
THE WIPER'S TOP SPEED IS INSUFFICIENT TO ADEQUATELY CLEAR EVEN A MODERATE RAINFALL AT 35 MPH AND ABOVE
IT SEEMS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING RIGHT...THE CAR CAN'T DECIDE WHEN TO ACCELERATE AND KEEPS JUMPING THROUGH...THIS HAPPENS FROM A STOP OR WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING..I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND CAR WAS "DECIDING" TO MOVE FORWARD OR NOT...IT CAN HAPPEN IN MOTION, STATIONARY, TURNING....I DON'T FEEL SAFE AT ALL DRIVING MY 7 MONTHS 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY....DEALER SOLUTION=NONE...THEY JUST SAY THE COMPUTER IS NOT SHOWING ANYTHING WHILE I HAVE TO BE WORRIED ABOUT THE CAR...
THIS HAPPENED TO THE VEHICLE REPEATEDLY AND UNDER 1000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. UPON ACCELERATION THE CAR HESITATES AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS IF WILL FINALLY GO WITH A JERKING TO THE PASSENGERS. IT ALSO HAS A PROBLEM ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY, IT SEEMS TO LACK THE POWER TO PASS ANYONE WHEN IN TRAFFIC. AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MILES PER HOUR THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE ALSO. WHEN MOVING INTO DIFFERENT GEARS THE CAR WOULD ALSO FEEL AS IF IT WERE JERKING INTO GEARS. SEEMS TO BE WORSE ON COLD STARTS BUT WAS DEFINITELY STILL A PROBLEM AFTER DRIVING AND HAVING TIME TO WARM UP.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, AND THE RADAR SPEED CONTROL IS SET ON, AND A LEADING VEHICLE IS ENGAGED BY THE RADAR SPEED CONTROL, IF THE LEADING VEHICLE TURNS OFF THE ROAD TO THE RIGHT THE RADAR SPEED CONTROL SUDDENLY DISENGAGES AND THE VEHICLE BRAKES. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF BEING REAR-ENDED WHEN THERE ARE FOLLOWING VEHICLES. HAPPENS UNDER ALL ROAD CONDITIONS AND IN ALL WEATHER.
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS THE CAR HESITATES FEELS LIKES THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING OR THE CAR IS HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING AT SOME POINTS THE CAR SHIFTS REALLY HARD CAUSING A WHIP LASH EFFECT, THE CAR NORMALS DOES THIS AT ABOUT ANYWHERE FROM 45 MILES PER HOUR UP TO 70 MILES PER HOUR. AT HIGHER SPEEDS SUCH AS 92 MILES PER HOUR TO BE EXACT THE CAR CONTINUES TO JUST HESITATE NON STOP AS IF IS STRUGGLING TO GO THAT SPEED?
VEHICLE HAS ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE CAR CAN'T SEEM TO DECIDE WHAT GEAR TO PICK AND WHEN TO ENGAGE IT RESULTING IN A SECOND OR TWO OF DEAD ACCELERATION. ONCE VEHICLE DECIDES WHAT TO DO, IT SENDS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF POWER TO THE WHEELS WITH UNINTENDED ACCELERATION RATES. THIS MOST COMMONLY HAPPENS WHEN SLOWING FOR A YIELD AND THEN GOING, STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, AND PASSING ON THE HIGHWAY. FUEL ECONOMY IS ALL OVER THE PLACE AS WELL, MOST LIKELY DUE TO POOR TRANSMISSION. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE CAR WAS FIRST BOUGHT IN NOVEMBER 2017....HAS NEARLY 8000 MILES AS OF JULY 18 AND STILL AN ISSUE.
THIS VEHICLE HAS A MAJOR DELAY/HESITATION WHEN HITTING THE GAS TO ACCELERATE. WHEN I AM ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE OR PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, IT TAKES 3-5 SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE REACTS. IT IS DANGEROUS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE IN MULTIPLE LANE TRAFFIC - THE CHANCES OF BEING REAR ENDED BECAUSE OF THE HESITATION ARE HIGH. I HAVE ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE WITH A DEALER AND THEY CONTINUE TO TELL ME THAT THE VEHICLE DOESN'T HAVE THE ISSUE THAT I AM EXPERIENCING - IT MOST CERTAINLY DOES! I AM FED UP WITH THE LACK OF ACTION TO REMEDY THIS DANGEROUS FLAW.
4-CYLINDER XSE HAS SIGNIFICANT ACCELERATION DELAY AFTER DEPRESSING THE PEDAL; THIS IS ESPECIALLY APPARENT WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A ROLLING STOP AT APPROXIMATELY 15-25 MPH. OCCASIONALLY, THE GEAR WILL ALSO SHIFT ABRUPTLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM 15-25 MPH, CAUSING THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD SUDDENLY. THIS IS DANGEROUS; IF THERE IS A CAR IN FRONT OF YOU, THERE IS A HIGH CHANCE OF CAUSING A REAR END ACCIDENT.
MY 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY HAS A VERY ROUGH SHIFTING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I BEGAN TO NOTICE THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN I REACHED ABOUT 20,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. WHEN EVER I PUT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE, REVERSE, OR PARK THE VEHICLE MAKES A THUD SOUNDS AND SHAKES A BIT. WHENEVER I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND I AM ACCELERATING THE TRANSMISSION HAS A LARGE DELAY BEFORE IT SHIFTS INTO THE NEXT GEAR, AND IT FEELS LIKE IT IS SHIFTING INTO THE WRONG GEAR BECAUSE OF THE LACK OR POWER OR TOO MUCH POWER AT TIMES. IT IS ESPECIALLY TELLING WHEN I'M ON CITY STREETS AT LOW SPEEDS, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL AT HIGHER SPEEDS. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS ISSUE TO LIGHT TO THE TOYOTA AUTO DEALERSHIP IN THE PAST IN THE PAST TO WHICH THEY HAVE RESPONDED THAT THIS IS STANDARD WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS OF THESE 2018 CAMRY'S, AND THAT I AM NOT THE FIRST TO HAVE REPORTED SUCH A THING. I HAVE OWNED 3 TOYOTA CAMRYS BEFORE THIS 2018, AND NEVER HAD I HAD AN ISSUE LIKE THIS ON THEM. AND IT IS VERY UNUSUAL FOR A VEHICLE SO NEW AND WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE TO EXHIBIT SUCH POOR PERFORMANCE.
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE, DRIVER SIDE DOOR WINDOW/LOCK/MIRROR CONTROL PANEL POPPED-OUT EASILY, WHEN WINDOW CONTROL UP WAS ACTIVATED. FORTUNATELY, I WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME, SO I WASN'T DRIVING AND STARTLED/DISTRACTED BY IT (I.E., POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE). APPEARS TO BE A RETAINER CLIP ISSUE. I REPORTED IT TO LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, WHO COULDN'T FIX IT, SO I SHIMMED THE CLIP, AND HAVEN'T HAD AN ISSUE, SINCE, THOUGH IT MAY NOT BE EASY TO EXTRACT, SHOULD THE NEED ARISE! NO SUCH ISSUE WITH PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL PANEL. UPLOADED IMAGES EXTRACTED FROM MOV VIDEO, SHOULD YOU WISH TO REVIEW IT, AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST VIA E-MAIL (I'D HAVE TO UPLOAD IT TO MY WEBSITE, BECAUSE IT'S A HUGE FILE).
COLLISION DETECTION ENGAGES WHEN NO ONE CLOSE TO FRONT OF VEHICLE AT HIGH SPEED. OUR 2018 CAMRY ENGAGED THE COLLISION DETECTION AT ABOUT 65 MPH ON I-85 IN ATLANTA AND ABOUT WRECKED US. NO ONE WAS EVEN CLOSE TO THE FRONT THE VEHICLE OR STOPPING OR STOPPED AND IT LOCKED THE BRAKES UP SOLID FOR LIKE 5-10 SECONDS. THE VEHICLES BEHIND US ALMOST REAR ENDED US FROM IT ENGAGING WITHOUT WARNING. IT SCARED THE LIVING PISS OUT MY WIFE AND I. WE WONT EVEN DRIVE IT ON THE INTERSTATE ANY MORE OR CLOSELY FOLLOW SOMEONE. THE VEHICLE NEEDS FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED IN IT. I'M JUST REPORTING IT NOW BECAUSE I BEEN GIVEN THIS WEBSITE BY A LAWYER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LANE DEPARTURE FEATURE FAILED TO OPERATE. WHILE DRIVING, ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT STRUCK THE FRONT MIDDLE PORTION OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MULTIPLE BRUISES, A BROKEN STERNUM, AND WHIPLASH AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED OF THE CRASH, BUT HAD NOT YET INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FACILITY. A DEALER HAD NOT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE YET. MALLOY TOYOTA (400 WEEMS LN, WINCHESTER, VA 22601, (866) 788-9507) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ABNORMAL CONDITION BEFORE AND AFTER THE CRASH, BUT FAILED TO PROVIDE ANY TECHNICAL GUIDANCE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD ISSUED 4 TSBS FOR LANE DEPARTURE HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE TSB AND THEY HAD NOT ISSUED A RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR A REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400.
TOYOTA CAMRY XLE V6 HAS TRANSMISSION ISSUES. FIRST 5000 MI SERVICE HAS ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED. CAR CURRENTLY HAS ~8K MILES AND HAS NOT IMPROVED. (1) FIRST GEAR DOES NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY TO SECOND. CAR JOLTS DURING THIS SHIFT. ISSUE IS WORSE WHEN THE CAR IS COLD, BUT CAN BE REPRODUCED EVEN WHEN IT IS WARMED UP. (2) TRANSMISSION TAKES A LONG TIME TO DOWNSHIFT AFTER ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED. SEEMS TO BE VERY CONFUSED IN PICKING THE RIGHT GEAR. (3) TRANSMISSION IS TOO EAGER TO DOWNSHIFT WHEN ACCELERATOR IS NOT PRESSED AND CAR IS SLOWING DOWN. THIS RESULTS IN ROUGH JOLTS AS THE CAR IS SLOWING DOWN OR BRAKING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, AN ABNORMAL THUMPING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. ANOTHER MOTORIST ALERTED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FUEL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE SHOULDER AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO CENTRAL TOYOTA (11020 SOUTH ORANGE BLOSSOM TRAIL, ORLANDO, FL 32837). THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK PLASTIC SHIELD AND THE PLASTIC FUEL TANK FRACTURED, WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL TO LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" . I BOUGHT BRAND NEW TOYOTA CAMRY SE 2018 FROM THE TOYOTA DEALER FOR TAXI IN NEW YORK CITY. I DRIVE IN NEW YORK CITY AND SOMETIME GO TO OUT OF TOWN UP TO 150 MILES. ON MY FIRST 10000 MILES MAINTENANCE , I TOLD THE DEALER THAT WHEN I DRIVE, CAR JERKING/BREAKING THE SPEED OR SAY HESITATION AFTER DRIVE FEW MILES. I FEEL SUDDENLY THE SPEED START IS JERKING/BREAKING THE SPEED FOR FEW SECONDS AND THEN COME BACK IN REGULAR SPEED. EVEN MY LEG IS AT THE ACCELERATE CONTINUES. ON MY COMPLAINT, THE DEALER TECHNIC DROVE THE CAR AND HE REPORTED THAT AT PRESENT TIME HE DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. I THINK, HE LIED. I DID REPORTED TO TOYOTA AND THEY OPEN THE CASE. THEY GOING TO CHECK ON MY NEXT MAINTENANCE. BECAUSE OF JERKING/BREAKING OR SAY HESITATION, I FEEL MIGHT CAR SUDDENLY STOP IN HIGHWAY OR ANY WHERE. I DROVE OVER 1500 DIFFERENT CARS IN LAST OVER 33 YEARS IN MY LIFE AND NEVER SEE THIS KIND OF PROBLEM IN PAST. I DO SEE TOYOTA CAMRY 2018 HAVE LOT OF NEW FEATURE AND USE NEW TECHNIQUE BUT SOMEHOW THIS JERKING/BREAKING OR SAY HESITATIONS DURING DRIVING IN ANY SPEED NOT GOOD. NEED TO INVESTIGATE AND FOUND WHY THIS HAPPENED.
2018 CAMRY 8 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS DOWNSHIFTING PROBLEMS. THIS INVOLVES A DELAY IN DOWNSHIFTING THAT I HAVE FOUND ON 3 OCCASIONS COULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS. UPON COMPLETING A TURN AND REAPPLYING GAS PEDAL THE CAR APPEARED TO BE IN NEUTRAL OR STUCK BETWEEN GEARS. I HAD A DEAD GAS PEDAL FOR 3 OR 4 SECONDS. ON 1 OCCASION I COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A REAR END COLLISION IF THE OTHER DRIVER HADN'T REALIZED SOMETHING WAS WRONG AND SWERVED TO AVOID MY CAR. I CURRENTLY HAVE LEMON LAW COMPLAINT FILED WITH THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE INVOLVING THIS CAR AND IT'S TRANSMISSION.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME AS THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED OVER TWO WEEKS AGO. THE DEALER (BAY RIDGE TOYOTA, 6401 6TH AVE, BROOKLYN, NY 11220) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE CAR HAS ACCELERATION/SPEED PROBLEMS. IT TAKES TOO LONG TO ACCELERATE WHEN CHANGING LANES, PASSING OTHER VEHICLE, OR ENTERING FREEWAY. THIS ISSUE IS GOING ON ALL AND EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. FROM THE FIRST WEEK OF DRIVING, THERE BECAME A TERRIBLE AND ANNOYING HESITATION OF 3-5 SECONDS WHEN ACCELERATING. SINCE THIS IS A V6, IT ACCELERATES GREAT, BUT I REALIZED AFTER DECELERATION AND THEN ACCELERATING AGAIN, THERE WAS A LONG DELAY BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD 'CATCH UP' WITH THE IDEA THAT WE WANTED TO GO AGAIN. UPON COMPLAINING TO SERVICE, THEY SAID IT TAKES SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES FOR THE COMPUTER TO LEARN HOW EACH INDIVIDUAL DRIVES. AGAIN, AFTER SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES, THE SAME OCCURRENCE, AND IT SEEMED TO EVEN GET WORSE AS I SOMETIMES SPIN THE FRONT TIRES (ON ICE AND SNOW AND WET ROADS) ONCE THE CAR'S COMPUTER ACTUALLY ACCELERATED. ONCE THE DEALER ACTUALLY 'RESET' THE COMPUTER WHICH MADE THINGS WORSE BECAUSE THE 'LEARNING' MODE STARTED OVER. SEVERAL TIMES I COMPLAINED AND FINALLY ONE OF THE MASTER TECHS ADMITTED THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE DRIVE-BY-WIRE SYSTEM THAT REPLACED THE MECHANICAL FOOT-PEDAL DIRECT ACCELERATION. HE SAID IT'S ALSO COMPLICATED BY THE 8-SPEED TRANSMISSION, THAT WHEN DECELERATING, THE TRANS UPSHIFTS TO MAYBE 6TH OR 8TH GEAR, AND ONCE THE DRIVER ACCELERATES AGAIN, THE DRIVE-BY-WORE SYSTEM , WHICH IS ALREADY DELAYING ACCELERATION FROM THE DRIVERS FOOT PRESSURE, HAS TO THEN UP SHIFT SEVERAL GEARS 'IMMEDIATELY', THIS CAUSING A LURCHING (AND SOMETIMES TIRE SPIN). TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGES THE 'PROBLEM', BUT SAYS SINCE OTHER SIMILAR CARS DO THE SAME THING, THAT IT'S 'NORMAL'. I DISAGREE. IT'S IS A FAULT, A DESIGN DEFECT, AND IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND REPAIRED. TOYOTA HAS BECOME SERVICE-LAZY IN RECENT YEARS AND REFUSES TO FIX DESIGN FLAWS, FORCING THEIR CUSTOMERS TO DEAL WITH FAULTY CARS.
THIS CAR ONLY HAS 120 MILES ON IT, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE I TOOK DELIVERY. UPON INITIAL ACCELERATION FROM A DEAD STOP, THERE IS A LONG DEAD ZONE IN THE ACCELERATOR LEADING TO POOR THROTTLE RESPONSE. IT'S HARD TO TELL WHEN THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO BEGIN MOVING. ONCE MOVING, THE TRANSMISSION JUMPS IN AND OUT OF VARIOUS GEARS, AND THE CAR CAN'T DECIDE WHICH GEAR TO USE. IT ALSO SLAMS IN AND OUT OF SOME GEARS WITH NO CONSISTENCY. IT SEEMS LIKE A PROGRAM ISSUE, BUT IT NEEDS TO BE HANDLED VERY SOON OR THIS TRANSMISSION MAY NOT LAST 10-20K MILES.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
NEW 2018 CAMRY SE WITH 458 MILES, 4 CYLINDER/8 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. CAR HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING AND CANNOT SEEM TO FIND THE CORRECT GEAR. MOST NOTICEABLE BETWEEN 1ST AND 3RD GEARS. ALSO, DYNAMIC BRAKING SUPPORT PUT ME IN A DEAD STOP AS I WAS TRYING TO DEPART THE LANE TO AVOID A FRONT AND REAR END COLLISION. I HAD ALREADY APPLIED ENOUGH MANUAL BRAKE BUT WANTED TO QUICKLY ACCELERATE OUT OF THE LANE TO CREATE SPACE. THIS AUTOMATIC DEAD STOP DUE TO THE DYNAMIC BRAKING SYSTEM WAS A SCARY SURPRISE THAT NEARLY CAUSED A PILE UP. TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECOGNIZE THESE ISSUES.

THEN IN JULY, AGAIN ON AN INTERSTATE, THE LT REAR TIRE BLEW(ODO 12,000). ONCE AGAIN, NO REASON, JUST BLEW OUT. WE WE'RE TOLD BY FIRESTONE THAT THE TIRES ON MY VEHICLE HAVE BEEN DISCONTINUED & I CAN NOT DO A WARRANTY CLAIM BECAUSE I DID NOT PURCHASE THE TIRES FROM THEM, TOYOTA DID SO TOYOTA HAS TO DO THE CLAIM. TOYOTA TELLS ME THEY DO NOT WARRANTY TIRES, FIRESTONE DOES & I HAVE TO GO THROUGH FIRSETONE FOR WARRANTY CLAIM. NO ONE SEEMS TO WANT TO ADDRESS THE FACT THAT THERE ARE STILL 2 MORE TIRES (ON THE FRONT) THAT COULD STILL BLOW OUT & CAUSE ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. DEALER TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T HELP BECAUSE I DIDN'T KEEP THE TIRES TO SHOW THEY WERE DEFECTIVE. THE BRAKES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN OVERLY SENSITIVE. THE CAR THEN STARTED BRAKING (THE COLLISION SAFETY FEATURE) WHEN THERE ARE NO OTHER VEHICLES, PEOPLE, ANIMALS,ETC IN SIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAYS, CITY STREETS, STRAIGHT ROADS, IN CURVES,SUNNY DAYS, RAINY DAYS,ETC. THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY DECIDES TO ENGAGE THE BRAKING SAFETY SYSTEM WHEN IT SHOULD NOT. ALL THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE COULD OFFER AS A SUGGESTION WAS TO TURN THAT FEATURE OFF! AS IF ALL THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, WHILE BACKING UP & COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP (BUT STILL IN REVERSE) THE CAR LUNGED BACK ANOTHER FOOT OR BETTER CAUSING ME TO COLLIDE WITH A BASKETBALL POLE IN MY DRIVEWAY. AFTER THAT, WHEN I PUMP FUEL NIW I HAVE TO HOLD THE HANDLE SO IT DOESN'T TOUCH OR LEAN AGAINST THE BOTTOM PART OF THE NECK HOLE. OTHERWISE, ANY FUEL YOU TRY TO PUT IN IT WILL FLOW RIGHT BACK OUT & RUN DOWN THE CAR TO THE GROUND. I HAVE REPEATEDLY ASKED DEALER TO DEAL WITH THESE ISSUES & TOLD THEM I DON'T FEEL LIKE ITHE VEHICLE IS SAFE AT THIS POINT. TRANSMISSION IS FEELING VERY JERKY AFTER 5000 MILES. HOLDING ON TO LOW GEARS WAY TOO LONG. I'M DOING 40 MPH AND THE RPM IS OVER 3500. THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO KEEP MISSING GEARS. I LITERALLY HAVE TO MASH THE GAS DOWN HARD AND PRAY IT GOES. THERE'S DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS TRANSMISSION & THEY WAY IT ACCELERATES. AT THIS MOMENT IT SEEMS AS IF THEY DON'T CARE. THIS VEHICLE IS 6 MONTHS OLD, PURCHASING IT IN OCTOBER LAST YEAR, AND I HAVE ALREADY HAD ONE RECALL FOR THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM AND NOW THE PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM HAS APPARENTLY MALFUNCTIONED. THE TOYOTA SERVICE REP ADVISES ME THAT THE ENGINE WIRES HAVE BEEN CHEWED BY RODENTS. HE ALSO ADVISES ME THAT THIS IS NOT A TOYOTA PROBLEM SO MY BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER IT. HE ADVISED MY AUTO INSURANCE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. THE PROBLEM IS A TOYOTA PROBLEM. THEY HAVE STARTED USING PLANT-BASED MATERIAL TO COVER THE WIRING WHICH ATTRACTS RODENTS. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, BUT NOT FOR MY MODEL OF CAR. ALSO, THIS IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED, BECAUSE YOU CAN'T HARDLY KEEP THE CAR ON THE ROAD AFTER IT HAPPENS. AT AROUND 1,800 MILES, HEADLINER ABOVE DRIVER SIDE DOOR PILLAR BEGAN INTERMITTENTLY BUZZING LIKE A BEE, CAUSING DISTRACTED DRIVING, NOISE OCCURS ON ALL TYPES OF ROAD SERVICE FOR VARYING LENGTHS OF TIMES. BUZZING NOISE MAY PERSIST FOR HOURS ON A LONG DRIVE. THE BUZZING CAN BE STOPPED BY PRESSING ON THE HEADLINER. AN ADDITIONAL NOISE BECAME EVIDENT SLIGHTLY LATER, THE GLOVE BOX BEGAN MAKING A VIBRATING NOISE. THE VIBRATING SOUND CAN BE STOPPED BY PRESSING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE GLOVE BOX DOOR. MOST RECENTLY, THERE IS A VIBRATING NOISE COME FROM THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER PILLAR AIR BAG LOCATIONS. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER THREE TIMES WITHOUT ANY RESOLUTION OF THE PROBLEMS.

THE AIR CONDITIONING DOESN'T COOL PROPERLY, AT TIMES I HAVE TO SET IT ON "LOW" IN ORDER TO GET IT TO COOL. OTHER TIMES, I CAN HAVE IT SET ON 80 AND IT COOLS. WHEN I PARK MY CAR AND GET OUT, I CAN SMELL RADIATOR FLUID. THE ACCELERATION DOESN'T' WORK PROPERLY. SOME TIMES I PRESS THE GAS AND THE CAR TAKES OFF SMOOTH, OTHER TIMES IT DOESN'T. THERE IS A GAP IN TIME BETWEEN ME PRESSING THE GAS AND THE CAR ACTUALLY TAKING OFF.

THE TOP COVER OF FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS IN THE ENGINE BAY IS NOT SEALED EITHER. EVIDENT WATER IS WELLING THROUGH THERE, TOO. I'M NOT DRIVING ON ANY DIRTY ROAD. JUST REALLY COMMON HIGHWAY TO AND BACK FROM WORK, 20 MINUTES' DRIVE. YES IT RAINS, BUT NEVER CAUSE ANY PROBLEM ON THE ROAD. IT'S MAKING THE ENGINE BAY DIRTY. ALSO, IT COULD DAMAGE THE ENGINE, OR SHORTCUT ANY WIRE. IT COULD BE NORMAL TO GET DIRTY, BUT THIS POOR DESIGN IS NO GOOD. THE FENDER SHOULD BE SEALED TO RESIST WATER. THAT'S WHY IT'S CALLED FENDER. I HAD TO DRIVE OVER 250 MILES WITH NO CRUISE CONTROL NOR PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM. WHEN IT STOPPED RAINING SEVERAL HOURS LATER AND THE NEXT DAY THERE WAS NO RAIN AS WELL IN HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC THE PROBLEM NEVER REOCCURRED.
