NOICE AT LOW SPEED, RATTLE SNAKE IN STEERING WHEEL, EXCESSIVE CLEARANCE INTERNAL IN RACK, REPLACE STEERING RACK TWICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
I WAS VERY FRUSTRATED WITH ALL 6 NEW FIRESTONE TIRES. TWO OF TIRES ALREADY BLOW OUT. ITS LOOK ALIKE CHEAPER BALLOONS. ITS NOT HIGH PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY. I TRIED TO ASK FIRESTONE DEALERS THAT TWO TIRES SHOULD CHANGE AS WARRANTY. DEALERS SAID THAT NO MORE WARRANTY AND JUST BUY 6 DOLLARS PER TIRE AS WARRANTY PER YEAR. I CAN SEEM THAT FIRESTONE COMPANY RIPPED OFF AND MADE BAD QUALITY. THATS WHY EACH FIRESTONE SELL FOR OVER 60.00 DOLLARS. I WANT TO CHANGE TWO NEW FIRESTONE OR OTHER BRAND NAME AS "GOODRICH" YES MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER RODE THE TOYOTA ON FOUR LANES. SHE GOT ACCIDENT THAT TIRE BLOW OUT AND TURN OFF ON SHOULDER. RIGHT REAR FIRESTONE FR680 TIRE P175/65R15 EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION, ANOTHER TIRE DOT W18JF6L0394 ALSO EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SWERVE BACK AND FORTH AND SHAKE. *SLC
PE00 020; CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 60MPH ON HIGHWAY, AND HEARD A BUMPING NOISE. SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO SHOULDER, AND NOTICED THAT DRIVER'S SIDE BACK TIRE TREAD HAD SEPARATED. ALSO, THERE WERE WIRES STICKING OUT. TIRE WAS A FIRESTONE, P27636EXBM1261-1 SH. *AK
1) KEY WOULD SOMETIMES NOT TURN IN IGNITION. THIS BECAME MORE AND MORE FREQUENT. ) EVENTUALLY THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN TO START THE CAR AND I COULD NOT REMOVE IT AND HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. 3) THE FIRST TIME THE IGNITION WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THE 2ND TIME THEY GAVE ME MORE TROUBLE ABOUT IT BUT FIXED IT FREE OF CHARGE. THE THIRD TIME THEY SUGGESTED THAT I CHANGE THE KEY WHICH I ALLOWED THEM TO DO AND I HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM SINCE BUT THEY DID CHARGE ME PART OF THE COST. I BELIVE THE "KEY" AND IGNITION SYSTEM OBVIOUSLY HAD A DESIGN FLAW. I DON NOT HAVE THE OLD PARTS BUT I DO HAVE RECORDS OF THE REPAIRS.*AK
THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CAR WAS A COMPLETE LOSS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 45 MPH CONSUMER TRIED TO CHANGE GEARS FROM 5 SPEED TO 4 SPEED, AND GEARS WOULD NOT SHIFT. CONSUMER HAD TO PUT ON EMERGENCY LIGHT TO AVOID BEING HIT BY ONCOMING VEHICLES. *AK
THIS REAR WINDOW SHATTERED COMPLETELY AS DRIVER ENTERED PARKED CAR AND CLOSED DOOR. *AK
I HAD PURCHASED A 1999 TOYOTA COROLLA. SHORTLY AFTER BUYING IT, THE FRONT WHEELS BEGAN ROTATING IMPROPERLY. I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE, AND THEY SAID THE IMPROPER ROTATION OF THE WHEELS, WAS CAUSED BY AN IMPAIRMENT IN THE TRANSMISSION LINKAGE AND THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I GOT A SECOND OPINION, AND THE SAME DIAGNOSIS WAS FOUND. SINCE THEN, OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, EVERY TIME I PASS A COROLLA OR PRISM FROM 1999 ON, THE MAJORITY OF THE FRONT WHEELS ARE NOT ROTATING SMOOTHLY AND HAVE A WOBBLE/IMBALANCE PROBLEM, WHICH LIKE MINE, I'M SURE IS A RESULT OF TRANSMISSION LINKAGE PROBLEMS. TOYOTA DENIES ANY DEFECT. I KNOW THERE IS, BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN WATCHING NEW AND USED COROLLAS AND PRISMS OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS. I AM A TRUTHFUL AND HONEST CITIZEN, JUST TRYING TO HELP THE GENERAL PUBLIC. WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP OLD AND NEW CONSUMERS OF COROLLAS KNOW THIS. THIS IS REAL. *JB

NO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAG DURING FRONT END COLLISION. AIRBAG SENSOR WAS DAMAGED IN THE COLLISION YET THE AIRBAG STILL DIDN'T DEPLOY. NLM
HEADLIGHTS AJUSTED TO POINT 50-60 FEET DOWNWARD POSITION, CAUSING BLIND SPOT AND POOR VISIBILITY. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT HEADLIGHTS MEET THE SPECIFICATIONS. *AK
ENGINECYLINDERS WAS RECEIVING INADEQUATE AMOUNT OF OIL DUE TO A DEFECTIVE CAMSHAFT, CAUSING LOSS OF COMPRESSION WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *AK
THE TIRES POPPED HOLES ALL OVER IT AS THOUGH IT EXPLODED. THEY RIPPED APART LIKE THEY WERE TIRES THAT HAD RETREADS PUT ON THEM. WHILE DRIVING INTO A PARKING GARAGE CAR STARTED REVVING VERY HIGH PLUNGED FOWARD INTO A WALL. WHILE ON LEVEL GROUND CONSUMER WAS PUTTING CAR IN REVERSE REVVED REALY LOUD, AND IT LUNGED FOWARD BEFORE CONSUMER COULD GET VEHICLE IN REVERSE, THEN JUMPED THE CURB. *AK THERE WERE TWO INCIDENTS, ONE IN 1999 AND ANOTHER IN 2000. DURING BOTH INCIDENTS ENGINE REVVED LOUDLY AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED. *YH
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED BRAKE FAILURE PRIOR TO ACCIDENT, HOWEVER DEALERSHIP COULD NOT IDENTIFY PROBLEM, LOSS OF BRAKES RESULTED IN VEHICLE REAR END COLLISION, NO DEPLOYMENT OF BOTH AIR BAGS DURING COLLISION RESULTING IN INJURY. *MJS
TIRE DE-TREADED AT 75 MPH. I WAS TRAVELING FROM HOME WHEN THE DE-TREAD OCCURRED. THE DEALER WHOM I PURCHASED A NEW REPLACEMENT TIRE FROM (FULTON, MO) FORGOT TO PLACE THE DAMAGED TIRE IN MY CAR. WHEN I RETURNED HOME I WENT TO A FIRESTONE FACILITY EXPECTING THE TIRE TO BE IN MY TRUNK AND FOR FIRESTONE TO REPLACE UNDER THEIR WARRANTY AGREEMENT. HOWEVER, THEY INFORMED ME THEY COULD DO NOTHING FOR ME UNLESS I HAD THE ACTUAL TIRE. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD CALL THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE DAMAGED TIRE AND I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT. NEVER RECEIVED REIMBURSEMENT - HOWEVER, OF MORE CRITICAL IMPORTANCE TO ME RIGHT NOW IS THE NEED TO FIND A FORUM TO REPORT THAT DE-TREADING IS OCCURRING ON TIRES OTHER THAN THOSE BEING RECALLED AND AT TIMES OF THE YEAR THAT ARE NOT EXCESSIVELY HOT. I HAD HAD THE TIRES INFLATED AND CHECKED IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO MY TRIP, SO I'M CONFIDENT IT WASN'T DUE TO UNDERINFLATION. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE OTHER THREE TIRES REPLACED AND ARE NOT USING FIRESTONE.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 185/65R14 )
AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON, AND THE DUST MADE THE CONSUMER VERY SICK . DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND ASKED WHAT TYPE OF GAS WAS USED FOR THE INSIDE OF AIRBAG. *AK
THE MAKES TO MUCH NOISE DRIVING AT 65MPS CANT DRIVE OVER 60MPS
WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH AND MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UP 25-30 MPH AND HIT A TREE. UPON FRONTAL IMPACT, DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHICH DID NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANT. PREVOUISLY HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMSWHICH CAUSED THE DOOR LOCKS/ WINDOWS AND THE RADIO TO BECOME INOPERATIVE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION AND VIN#. *AK
WAS TRAVELING 30MPH, ROAD WAS WET. APPLIED BRAKES TO STOP. VEHICLE WENT INTO A SKID. REARENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUFFERED A CRACKED STERNUM. PASSENGER RECEIVED BRUISES FROM SEAT BELT. DRIVER WAS HOSPITALIZED. *AK

INTERMITTENTLY WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES SOFT AND GOES TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
REAR CONTROL ARM BROKE WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. CAUSING CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL. CONSUMER HIT AN DIP IN THE HIGHWAY, JUST BEFORE CONTROL ARM BROKE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
A/C OFF, SLIGHTLY DOWN GRADE, 30 MPH, 3RD GEAR, STARTING TO ACCELARATE, APPLIED BRAKES SUDDENLY, FOUND NO RESPONSE FOR 10-15 FT AND THEN FULL FORCE BRAKES CAME ON.
DESIGN OF HEADLIIGHT ASSEMBLY AFFECTED VISIBILITY PROBLEMS WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A CRASH. DEALER SAID IT WAS THE DESIGN OF THE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES PROBLEM STAYING ON THE ROAD AT HIGH SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. WHENEVER VEHICLE STAYS WITHIN 60 MPH OR LOWER IT WOULD DRIVE OKAY. DEALER NOTIFIED AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT WAS NORMAL CONDITION. *AK

CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT COLLISION, IMPACT 55 MPH IN WHICH NEITHER DRIVER'S NOR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, RESULTING IN INJURIES TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OCCUPANT. CONSUMER HAS YET TO CONTACT THE DEALER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
MY CAR IS AUTOMATIC. SOMETIMES WHEN I AM DRIVING IT "REVS" REALLY HIGH LIKE OVER 4. AND THATS ONLY WHEN I AM GOING 30MPH. EVEN IF I PUT OVERDRIVE ON IT STILL DOESNT WORK. ALSO MY LOW GAS LIGHT INDICATOR FADES IN AND OUT. ITS DOESNT COME ON UNTIL THE CAR IS PAST THE "E" . AND THE LAST PROBLEM IS MY LOCKS. WHEN I AM DRIVING I LOCK MY DOORS. AND THEN WHEN I TURN OFF MY CAR, TAKE MY KEYS OUT, IT WONT LET MY UNLOCK MY DOOR. I HAVE AUTOMATIC DOORS AND IT SHOULDNT BE DOING THIS. ONE LAST COMMENT IS THAT THESE PROBLEMS DO NOT HAPPEN ON ALL THE TIME. BUT AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. I HAVE BROUGHT IT IN TO THE TOYOTA DEALER MANY TIMES AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. I KNOW THERE IS. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.
THE INTERNET DATABASE LIKE CARFAX.COM SHOWS MY CAR AS COROLLA CE, WHILE IT HAS LE WRITTEN ON IT AND THAT IS HOW I BOUGHT IT. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW/WHY THIS HAPPENED? DO I NEED TO TAKE ANY ACTION TO CORRECT IT.

THE HEADLIGHTS ONLY GO OUT 30 FEET WHEN GOING DOWN HILL. ON FLAT GROUND THE HEADLIGHTS GO ON 50-75 FEET, WHICH IS NOT FAR ENOUGH. DEALER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE IS IN COMPLIANCE. PROBLEM HAS YET TO BE FIXED. *AK *ML

AUTO CONSTANTLY PULL TO THE LEFT, FIVE SETS OF TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND ALIGN SEVERAL TIMES.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING CONSTANT PROBLEMS WITH THE AUTOMATIC IGNITION CONTROLLED DOOR LOCKS UNLOCKING WHEN THEY'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO, STARTING AT ABOUT 38000 MILES. EITHER WHEN I'M DRIVING, OR AFTER THE SECURITY SYSTEM (SECURIKEY+, DEALER INSTALLED) HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. ALSO POWER LOCK BUTTON ON DRIVER'S DOOR WILL OCCASIONALLY FAIL TO OPERATE PROPERLY (IT'LL LOCK THE DOORS BUT WILL NOT UNLOCK THEM). CAR HAS BEEN TAKEN TO TWO TOYOTA SERVICE DEPARTMENTS SEVEN TIMES OVER THE PAST SEVEN MONTHS. ALL "REPAIRS" HAVE BEEN TEMPORARY, LASTING FROM TWO MONTHS TO TWO WEEKS. I GET A DIFFERENT DIAGNOSIS EACH TIME. THE ACTUATOR IS THE ONLY PART THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED. *AK
