TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V133000(AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
TOYOTA ISTAKING TO LONG TO SEND PARTS FOR REPAIR TO SOUTH DAKOTA TOYOTA DEALERS FOR KNOW AND REPORTED FAULTS THAT COULD LEAD TO INJURY AND/OR DEATH.
I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHEN I FIRST STARTED TO APPLY PRESSURE TO MY BRAKES. THERE WAS NO TENSION WHAT SO EVER. I WAS STANDING ON THEM AND THE BRAKE PETAL WAS HITTING THE FLOOR. AS A RESULT, I RAN THOUGH A STOP SIGN AND HIT A CONCRETE BARRIER. MY STEERING WHEEL ALSO LOCKED UP AND MY AIRBAG NEVER DEPLOYED. I LOST MY ENTIRE FRONT BUMPER AND THE TANK THAT HOLDS THE WINDSHIELD FLUID WAS CRACKED. THE CAR WAS TOWED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA'S MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD " IT HAPPENS". I FEEL THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. ALL I WANT IS MY CAR FIXED BUT NO ONE WILL GIVE ME THE TIME OF DAY. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THE CAR WAS PRE-CERTIFIED. THANK YOU. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE CASING IN THE STEERING COLUMN HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
EVERY TIME IT RAINS AND CREATES A WATER PUDDLE ON THE ROAD, WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR THROUGH IT, WATER GOES UP UNDER THE CAR CAUSING IT TO LOSE POWER, TO MOMENTARILY SHUT DOWN AND I LOSE MY STEERING. THE BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON AS WELL. ALSO WHEN I COME TO A STOP THE CAR STARTS SHAKING OR VIBRATING AND IT SEEMS LIKE IT WANTS TO SHUT OFF. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. THREE BLOCKS FROM OUR HOME ON A NEIGHBORHOOD GOING 20 TO 25 MPH. WE TOOK TO OUR TOYOTA DEALER ( [XXX] ) IN OKLAHOMA CITY. HE SAID WE HAD TO FILE A CLAIM WITH TOYOTA AND GAVE US A NUMBER. WE FOUND OUT LATER THAT DAY THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG SYSTEM AND WE HAD NOT RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL. HE DID NOT INFORM US THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH TOYOTA'S WEBSITE SHOWED THE CAR WAS PART OF THE RECALL. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALER, [XXX] OF OKLAHOMA CITY. THEY DID KNOWLEDGE THE VEHICLE WAS INDEED PART OF THE RECALL. BOB HOWARD TOYOTA STILL HAS THE CAR AND WE HAVE A CASE NUMBER [XXX] WITH TOYOTA AND [XXX]IS WAITING OF THEIR CALL TO START WORK ON THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V043000 (AIR BAGS) AND 15V285000 (AIR BAGS). THE DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE TO SCHEDULE THE INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
HEARD NEWS REPORT OF TOYOTA AIRBAG RECALL BACK IN 2013. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND HAD THAT ISSUE RESOLVED. THEN IN JUNE 2014, ANOTHER RECALL DISCUSSED ON TV NEWS AND RECEIVED LETTER IN THE MAIL STATING MY FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR WAS NOT REPLACED AND REPLACEMENT IS REQUIRED. HOWEVER, THE LETTER FURTHER STATES THAT THERE IS "NO REMEDY AVAILABLE" AND IT FURTHER STATES THAT YOU SHOULD NOT USE YOUR VEHICLE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. THIS IS AN OUTRAGEOUS STATEMENT ON THE PART OF TOYOTA. AS I AM THE ONLY CAREGIVER TO MY ELDERLY MOTHER (89 YRS OLD), IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT I HAVE A SAFE OPERATING VEHICLE TO TAKE HER TO ONCOLOGISTS, RADIOLOGY APPOINTMENTS, DENTAL APPOINTMENTS AND PRIMARY CARE CHECK-UPS ON A WEEKLY BASIS. MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED BEFORE A TRAGEDY OCCURS WITH A FATALITY ENDING. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND TOYOTA WILL AND SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE TO GET THESE REPAIRS DONE NOW VERSES LATER. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH YOU ON 4/9/13 REGARDING THE RECALL OF TOYOTA'S FOR AIRBAG MALFUNCTIONS, HOWEVER, TO DATE, I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING BACK RE MY COMPLAINT. NOW, I RECEIVE ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE FOR THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) RECALLS. EACH TIME, I CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP (DCH BRUNSWICK TOYOTA, 732.418.7888) AND WAS TOLD, "SORRY, WE DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE AND YOU WILL BE SENT ANOTHER RECALL LETTER; IF THIS WAS A SERIOUS ISSUE, WE WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT SO DON'T WORRY. WELL, I WOULD CONSIDER A MALFUNCTIONING AIR BAG TO BE A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE IF IT WERE TO MALFUNCTION WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE FREEWAY AND COULDN'T SEE WHERE I WAS GOING DUE TO THIS MALFUNCTIONING AIRBAG ISSUE, WOULDN'T YOU??? THIS WOULD CAUSE A MAJOR TRAFFIC ACCIDENT WITH FATALITIES! TOYOTA ADVISES THAT YOU DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR, HOWEVER, I AM A CAREGIVER TO MY ELDERLY MOM AND I NEED MY CAR TO GET HER WHERE SHE NEEDS TO GO AS SHE HAS STAGE II CANCER. WHAT IS BEING DONE TO FIX THIS TROUBLESOME ISSUE AND WHY CAN'T THEY GET THE PARTS FOR IT??? IF I CAN TAKE THE TIME TO SEND THIS COMPLAINT TO YOU, IT WOULD BE A COMMON COURTESY FOR SOMEONE TO CONTACT ME WITH A RESOLUTION. THANK YOU. *TR
TOYOTA ISSUED OUT A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. THE RECALL WAS ON 03-04 COROLLA'S AND THE ISSUE IS THAT THE AIRBAG COULD DEPLOY AT ANY MOMENT OR IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT IT WOULD NOT DEPLOY. THEY FIXED THE COMPUTER, SENSOR ASSY, THE AIRBAG IT SELF AND THE HARNESS. HOWEVER, THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE A CABLE(KNOWING THAT THIS PART WAS A FAULTY PART) SINCE THEY SAID IT WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL. NOW WITH THIS CABLE ITS CALLED SPIRAL CABLE, THE REASON WHY IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS WELL BECAUSE IT COULD SEND THE WRONG SIGNAL AND STILL DEPLOY MY AIRBAG WITH OUT BEING IN AN ACCIDENT OR NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. TO ME THEY DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE.TOYOTA ADVISE ME OVER PHONE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE THEIR WARRANTY THEY SAID THAT THEY WONT BE ABLE TO REPLACE THAT PART AND ITS UP TO ME AS THE CUSTOMER TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF POCKET. WHAT MAKES ME UPSET IS THAT TOYOTA KNOWS THIS PART WAS FAULTY AND SHOULD BE PART OF THE RECALL BUT YET THEY FAIL TO INCLUDE IT IN THE RECALL. WHAT HAPPENS, IF IM DRIVING AND THE CABLE SENDS THE WRONG SIGNAL AND THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS. I COULD HURT MYSELF, MY PASSENGERS AND OTHER DRIVERS. THE DAMAGE COULD BE HIGH SINCE THEY'RE MANY DRIVERS THAT DRIVE COROLLAS. I BELIEVE YOU NEED TO ACT ON THIS SINCE IT COULD HURT DRIVERS, WHICH CAN CAUSE INSURANCE RATES TO INCREASE WHICH CAN CAUSE DRIVERS TO DRIVE LESS IN RETURN HURTING THE ECONOMY. *TR
SAFETY RECALL NOTICE (TO FIX SRS AND ECM) WAS RECEIVED FROM TOYOTA IN THE SECOND WEEK OF FEBRUARY, 2013. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER (LEE'S TOYOTA, 139-65, QUEENS BLVD, JAMAICA, NY, 11435) ON 04/03/2013, TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. SINCE THE CORRECT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE SERVICING CENTER, THE REPRESENTATIVE HAS INFORMED ME THAT, THEY WILL PLACE AN ORDER FOR THE PARTS AND WILL INFORM ME ONCE THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE SERVICE CENTER (PER THE SERVICE CENTER THE WAIT PERIOD FOR THE PARTS IS ABOUT COUPLE WEEKS). TODAY, 04-30-2013, I CALLED THE SERVICE CENTER TO CHECK THE STATUS OF THE PARTS. THE SERVICE CENTER HAS INFORMED THAT, THEY DID NOT RECEIVE THE PARTS AND NOT SURE AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE THEM AS TOYOTA IS TAKING TOO MUCH TIME TO PRODUCE THEM. I REQUEST THAT THIS MATTER MAY PLEASE BE EXAMINED AND SEE HOW SOON THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE (I HAVE A FEAR THAT MY CAR MAY DEVELOP NEW OR OTHER RELATED PROBLEMS AS I AM USING IT WITH ECM AND SRS PROBLEMS AND WITH THE AIR BAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS ON THE DASH BOARD). THE DRIVER AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED CONCUSSIONS FROM THE SEAT BELT AND SUFFERED WHIPLASH. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE UNTIL CRASHING INTO A PARKED VEHICLE AT 30 MPH. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 70,000.

A CAR CROSSED MY LANE FROM A PARKING LOT CAUSING ME TO "T-BONE" THE OTHER VEHICLE AT 40MPH. THE AIRBAG INFLATED WITH A HUGE FORCE AND NOISE, HITTING ME IN THE FACE, CHEST AND RIGHT ARM--KNOCKED ME OUT AND LEFT ME DAZED FOR A WHILE AFTER. THERE WAS WHAT I THOUGHT WAS WHITE SMOKE THAT FILLED UP THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER AREA. WHEN I GOT MY BELONGINGS OUT OF MY VEHICLE SEVERAL DAYS LATER, I NOTICED LITTLE BITS OF WHAT LOOKED LIKE SOME FLECKS OF DARK METAL OR PLASTIC ON THE FLOORBOARD AND PASSENGER SEAT. I SUSTAINED CONTUSIONS AND MULTIPLE ABRASIONS TO MY CHEST AND RIGHT ARM, TWO DISLOCATED RIBS, A TORN ROTATOR CUFF AND THREE BULGING CERVICAL DISKS. I HAD CONTUSIONS AND ABRASIONS ON MY KNEES.
NEARLY A MONTH AFTER HEARING ABOUT RECALL ON NEWS, CALLED MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO WAIT FOR THE RECALL TO BE MAILED TO ME. AFTER RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL, I PROMPTLY TOOK MY CAR INTO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME MY CAR IS ONE OF FEW THAT NEED THE ENTIRE COMPUTER REPLACED AND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE ORDERED. IT HAS BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE AND ALL I GET FROM THE DEALERSHIP IS, IT IS ON BACKORDER. RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL NOTICE (INTERIM) IN MAIL FROM TOYOTA, JUNE 15, 2013. CALLED CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER AT 1-888-270-9371, WAS ANSWERED IN A LAZY INDIVIDUAL WHO WITH JUST THE YEAR AND MAKE OF THE CAR SAID THE PARTS ARE NOT READY YET. IS MY CAR SAFE? SHOULD IT CONTINUE TO BE DRIVEN? WHEN WILL THE DEFECTIVE PARTS/COMPUTER BE REPLACED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V162000 (VISIBILITY) HOWEVER, THE REMEDY DID NOT DETER THE FAILURE FROM OCCURRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOUD POP WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WAS OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL TAKATA AIR BAGS WERE RECALLED NEVER PROPERLY FIXED BY THE SERVICE PEOPLE WHO DENIED THE RECALL. CATALYTIC CONVERTER WENT OUT AT LESS THAN 50000 MILES AND TOYOTA REFUSED TO REPLACE IT UNDER THE STANDARD WARRANTY. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH RADIO SYSTEM, CLOCK, HAZARD LIGHTS, AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS WHICH WORK AT INTERMITTENT TIMES.

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES FROM THE IMPACT. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE AIR BAG FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 186,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
OUR AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, AND WE HAD THE CAR CHECKED BY AIRBAG SERVICE OF UTAH. THEY FOUND THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE WAS DEFECTIVE, SO A NEW PART WAS ORDERED AND REPLACED. TOYOTA RECALLED VEHICLES WITH THE SAME SPIRAL CABLE ISSUE, BUT ONLY BEGINNING WITH MODEL YEAR 2005. OURS IS A 2004 MODEL, AND WE FEEL THAT THE EXPENSES WE PUT INTO REPLACING THIS PART SHOULD BE REIMBURSED AS PART OF THE RECALL ISSUES. *TR
