I WAS NOTIFIED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT A RECALL FOR PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS WAS CURRENTLY IN PLACE. WHEN I TRIED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE A 4-6 MONTH WAIT! THAT'S A LONG TIME TO BE DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE OR ARE THEY DISCRIMINATING AGAINST AN OLDER MODEL TOYOTA? ANYTHING I CAN DO TO SPEED THIS UP?

TAKATA RECALL: THE DEALERSHIP AND OTHERS I CONTACTED HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO TELL ME WHEN THEY WILL HAVE THE PARTS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR OF THE RECALL. SO WHILE IT IS GREAT THAT NHTSA HAS HELPED TO GET TO THE STAGE OF A RECALL, IF THE REPAIRS CANNOT BE COMPLETED, IT IS NOT A GOOD THING. CAN YOU HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM? (IN OTHER WORDS, HELP ME FIND A PLACE TO GET THE REPAIR OR TELL ME WHO TO CONTACT AT TOYOTA?) I AM UPSET ABOUT THIS.
TAKATA RECALL. RECEIVED SAFETY RECALL NOTIFICATION FROM TOYOTA. LOCAL DEALER ESTIMATED 4 TO 10 WEEKS WAIT TIME FOR REMEDIATION. NOTICE CLEARLY SAYS THAT '' UNTIL REMEDY IS PERFORMED, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH AN OCCUPANT IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT". SO I CAN'T OPERATE WITH PASSENGER. ITS REALLY A BIG ISSUE FOR ME AS MY WIFE NEEDS TO COME TO OFFICE IN THE SAME CAR WITH ME .IT'S CAUSING GREAT TROUBLE FOR OUR WORK AND ALSO FOR WEEK END ROUTINES/TRIPS. I HAVE REQUESTED DEALER SEVERAL TIMES MENTIONING ABOVE IMPACT HOWEVER THERE IS NO POSITIVE RESPONSE. RATHER THEY ARE CLAIMING IT AN ISSUE WHERE THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. MY CURRENT SITUATION IS THAT I AM TAKING PAID TAXI SERVICES FOR DROP AND PICK UP FROM OFFICES . IT'S COSTING AROUND $100 DOLLARS DAILY SINCE 3/30/2016.ANY IMMEDIATE RESOLUTION/REMEDY WILL HELP ME
THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE DRIVING EVEN WHEN THERE IS NO PASSENGER IN THE SEAT AND THE SEAT IS EMPTY. IS THIS RELATED IN ANY WAY TO THE TAKATA INFLATOR RECALL? THE REPLACEMENT WAS DONE FOR THE TAKATA RECALL AND THE LIGHT STILL STAYS ON AT ALL TIMES WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING.
MARCH 30, 2016 I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE REGARDING MY VEHICLE (VIN: [XXX]) AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT ROHRICH TOYOTA AT 2020 WEST LIBERTY AVENUE, PITTSBURGH, PA ON FRIDAY, MARCH 4TH AT 1:00 P.M. THAT MORNING, A GENTLEMAN CALLED ME TO ASK IF I WOULD BE WILLING TO RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT BECAUSE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS SHORT-STAFFED. EVEN THOUGH, I HAD TAKEN THE DAY OFF WORK TO MAKE THE APPOINTMENT, I SAID I UNDERSTOOD AND, SINCE I DID NOT KNOW MY WORK SCHEDULE AT THE TIME, WOULD CALL BACK TO RESCHEDULE. DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH, I WAS BUSY WITH WORK, SISTER'S SURGERY, AND A SCHEDULED VACATION, BUT I CALLED ROHRICH TO RESCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. IT WAS SCHEDULED ON MONDAY, MARCH 28TH AT 1:00 P.M. HOWEVER, ON SATURDAY, MARCH 26TH, ROHRICH LEFT A VOICE MAIL MESSAGE ON MY CELL PHONE TO SAY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS 'SHORT STAFFED' AND TO CALL BACK TO RESCHEDULE. I CALLED ON MARCH 28TH AND MADE THE APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING DAY, TUESDAY, MARCH 29TH AT 1:00 P.M. I DROPPED THE CAR OFF AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND MY HUSBAND PICKED ME UP SO THAT WE COULD GO OUT FOR LUNCH. NOT 10 MINUTES LATER, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED ME ON MY CELL PHONE TO TELL ME THEY 'DIDN'T HAVE THE PART' AND I COULD EITHER LEAVE THE CAR UNTIL TOMORROW, WHICH WOULD BE TODAY, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30TH OR PICK UP THE CAR AND RESCHEDULE AND, IF/WHEN I CALL TO RESCHEDULE, ASK TO MAKE SURE THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS THE PART. ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? I REALIZE THIS IS A RECALL AND I WOULDN'T/SHOULDN'T BE A 'PAYING' CUSTOMER, BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT IT WAS ON HESPERIAN AND TURNER IN HAYWARGOT, I WAS STOPPED GOT REAR ENDED PUSHED INTO ANOTHER CAR, THIS CAR IS TOTALED. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF.
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON HESPERIAN AND TURNER IN HAYWARD. I WAS COMPLETY STOPPED AND REAR ENDED PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF. THE CAR IS TOTALED. TOYOTA TOOK WAY TOO LONG TO FIX THE PASSENGER AIRBAG I JUST GOT THE LETTER THEY HAD THE PARTS IN MY AREA.
TOW ON RIGHT REAREND IS OFF (-0.01). ONLY GET 20000 OUT OF ANY SET OF TIRES INSTALLED AND GARAGE TELLS ME IT IS DUE TO TOW BEING OFF.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V285000 (AIR BAGS) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. 1. HAD TO CHANGE ALL AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS AT LEAST TWICE AT $400 A POP. 2. HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 COILS TO ENGINE AT A COST OF $810.53 3. HAD TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION REBUILT DO IT FAILING WHILE OF I295 ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. AT A COST OF 3631.49 4. AFTER TRANSMISSION WORK HAD TO HAVE MY TRANSFER CASE INTERNAL SEALED AT A COST OF $711.55 WHEN WE BOUGHT THIS CAR AT TOYOTA IN DECEMBER 2005, WE WERE LED TO BELIEVE THAT THIS CAR WAS BUILT LONGEVITY OR FOR THE LONG HAUL WITH ONLY HAVING TO DO ROUTINE MAINTANCE WHICH I HAVE KEPT UP ON EVERY 5000 MILES AS RECOMMENDED BY TOYOTA. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THE TRANSMISSION COST. FIRESTONE STATED THAT TOYOTA RECOMMENDS A TRANSMISSION SERVICE EVERY 50,000 MILES BUT MY MAINTANCE BOOK SAYS ONLY DO THAT IF YOU EITHER TOW, OFF ROADING, OR DIRT ROADS FOR LONG PERIOD OF THE TIME. I DID NEITHER, SO TOYOTA SAYS NO NEED TO DO SERVICE. I DID CONTACT TOYOTA ADVOCATE AFTER I HAD MY TRASMISSION DONE AT COTTMAN TRANSMISSION AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME CAUSE I WENT TO AN OUTSIDE VENDOR. MY CAR HAD ONLY 148,745 MILES. TOYOTA SAYS THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR TRANSMISSION UNLESS THERE IS A RECALL. FOR MY SEARCH ON THE INTERNET THERE IS DOCUMENTATION THAT TOYOTA KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS FAILING BUT DID NOT WANT TO DO A RECALL BUT WOULD ONLY COMPENSATE IF THERE IS A RECALL. I JUST WANT TO BE HEARD AND POSSIBLY COMPENSATED FOR SOME OF MY REPAIRS THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE I WANTED TO KEEP IT A LONG TIME AND NOW IT IS COSTING ME MORE THAN IT IS WORK.
"TAKATA RECALL" HAD TWO ACCIDENTS WHERE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. 1 ANOTHER CAR WAS DROVE INTO THE FRONT OF MY CAR CAUSING DAMAGE. 2ND HIT AN ICE PACK AND SLID INTO BACK OF ANOTHER CAR TOTALING THE CAR. AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF.
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE NEAR THE BEGINNING OF 2016. I TRIED REPEATEDLY (4-5 MONTHS) TO MAKE AN APPT WITH THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN ANTIOCH, CA TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR REPAIR ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART AND THAT 1) THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK BUT NEVER DID, OR 2) I WOULD HAVE TO KEEP CALLING BACK TO CHECK IN. FAST FORWARD 5 (6?) MONTHS LATER AND MY CAR STILL HASN'T BEEN REPAIRED. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO AT LEAST GET AN APPOINTMENT BY CALLING ANOTHER DEALERSHIP IN CONCORD, CA BUT THE WAIT IS STILL 3 WEEKS OUT. VERY DIFFICULT AND FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE.

TAKATA RECALL - AFTER GETTING MY PASSENGER AIRBAG REPLACED IN FEB 2016 FROM THE TAKATA2015 RECALL, I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT NOW MY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. PER THE TOYOTA DEALER INVOICE # 451453, "OPEN IN D SQUIB CIRCUIT" AKA SPIRAL CABLE. THIS SHOULD BE PART OF THE TAKATA RECALL BUT I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION OF SUCH.
TAKATA INFLATES: EVER SINCE MY RECALL FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT SEVERAL MONTHS LATER. IT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM PAIN TO THE LOWER BACK AND NECK THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGES TO THE BUMPER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND REPAIRED FOR EXTERIOR DAMAGES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V285000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
RECALL JULY 2015. TOYOTA DID NOTHING SAID THEY'D BE IN TOUCH, SAID "DON'T LET ANYONE SIT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT" THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. A MAN DRIVING A TOYOTA WAS JUST KILLED WHEN HIS PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WENT OFF. I WANT TOYOTA TO REMOVE THE AIRBAG UNTIL THEY HAVE A FIX.
THE ENGINE IS STALLING. I NOTICED THIS AT LEAST A MONTH AGO. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 OR 6 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH. IT FIRST OCCURRED WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE IN THE PARKING LOT AT SCHOOL. I DROVE MAYBE 5 OR 6 FEET LESS THAN 10 MPH THEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. IT DID RESTART, BUT IT JERKED ONCE OR TWICE AND KEPT GOING. THE NEXT DAY, I WAS ABLE TO START CAR AND DRIVE A LITTLE FURTHER, MAYBE A MILE AT ABOUT 30 MPH. WHEN I ENTERED AN ENTRANCE RAMP ON THE FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF ACCELERATION. I HAD TO VEER TO THE SHOULDER. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK,THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE A FEW MILES. THEN, I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO EXIT ON A RAMP WHEN IT STALLED AGAIN. I EXITED FREEWAY. THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT TO COMPOSE MYSELF BECAUSE THE CARS BEHIND ME WERE HONKING AND DRIVERS UPSET THAT VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT NOTICE. THE VEHICLE DID CUT OFF AT A HIGHER SPEED AS WELL. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 50 MPH WHEN IT TURNED OFF, BUT IMMEDIATELY TURNED BACK ON WITHIN SECONDS. I WAS VERY CONCERNED FOR SAFETY WITH KIDS IN THE CAR.
TAKATA RECALL HELLO. ON MY 2006 TOYOTA MATRIX XR, MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR OVER A YEAR. RECENTLY I BROUGHT IT INTO JIM COLEMAN TOYOTA IN BETHESDA, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ASSEMBLY, THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY, WHICH IS TRIGGERING THE CODE IS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL. HOWEVER, FROM WHAT I AM READING ONLINE INCLUDING NHTSA, THE CLOCK SPRING IS PART OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE AIRBAG AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE COST TO REPLACE THIS PART IS OVER $1000, AND NOT FIXING IT PREVENTS ME FROM SELLING THE CAR. THE AIRBAG HAS NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED, AND ACCORDING TO TOYOTA OF BETHESDA, THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE ASSEMBLY, PER THE RECALL, BUT JUST THE AIRBAG, WHICH I DID NOT THINK WAS UNDER RECALL.
TAKATA RECALL I BELIEVE TOYOTA AND THEIR DEALER, KOONS TOYOTA OF ARLINGTON, VA, HAVE FAILED TO REMEDY THE DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME. I HAVE WAITED FOR OVER 2 MONTHS TO HAVE THE DEFECT REMEDIED. THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE CENTER WAS COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL AND COULD NOT TELL ME WHERE I COULD OBTAIN A REPLACMENT. THE DEALER FAILED TO UPDATE ME WHEN REPLACEMENT PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE AND DID NOT RETURN MY PHONE CALLS.
WAS DRIVING WHEN AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASH CAME ON, HAVE CHECKED FUSES, CLEANED ALL ELECTRICAL LEADS AND IT REMAINS ON, BEEN ON SIX MONTHS NOW. AIRBAG RECALL FIXED TODAY, TOLD DEALER TO LOOK AT LIGHT. ONCE FIXED DEALER SAID LIGHT STILL ON BECAUSE THE STEERING SPRING COIL IN THE STEERING COLUMN HAS CUT SOMETHING THAT TURNS THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON, COST TO FIX $500. I SAID LET THE LIGT STAY ON THEN, HE SAID IT COULD AFFECT AIRBAG, IT MIGHT NOT DEPLOY.

MY UNDERSTANDING, FROM VARIOUS SOURCES, IS THIS PROBLEM CAN BE EXACERBATED BY CLIMATE (I.E. HOT, HUMID AREAS) AND A VEHICLES AGE. IT JUST SO HAPPENS MY CAR IS REGISTERED IN THE NORTH WHERE IT IS COOLER BUT DRIVEN IN THE SOUTH WHERE IT IS HOT AND HUMID. MY CAR IS ALSO OLDER. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA ABOUT THIS CONCERN BUT BEEN TOLD THEY WILL NOT MAKE REPAIRS BASED ON WHERE THE CAR IS DRIVEN ONLY WHERE IT IS REGISTERED. THIS ACTION PLAN COMPLETELY NEGLECTS MILITARY PERSONNEL AND THEIR FAMILIES PUTTING THEM AT AN UNNECESSARY RISK BECAUSE OF LOGISTICS. TAKATA RECALL - I RECEIVED AN UNDATED LETTER FROM TOYOTA EXPLAINING THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THAT THE LETTER WAS RECEIVED IN AUGUST OR EARLY SEPTEMBER 2015.
