TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKING DISTANCE INCREASED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A BRAKE LEAK BEHIND THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" ABS DOES NOT WORK AND WAS DIAGNOSED BY TOYOTA. TOYOTA WANTS $4500.00 TO FIX IT. CAR HAS 53,000 MILES ON IT.
TOOK MY CAR IN FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SLIPPING OF THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS CALLED AND TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS FINE AND THAT THE NEW SV TRANSMISSIONS HANDLE DIFFERENTLY FROM THE OLDER TRANSMISSIONS, I SHOULDN'T BE WORRIED. THEN I WAS TOLD THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES AS THEY ARE BAD. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT I RUINED THE BRAKES BY DRIVING THE CAR HARD. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN MY THIRTY FOUR YEARS OF DRIVING THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT I RUIN BRAKES. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IT HAD 14599 MILES. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE IT HAD 24397. LESS THAN 10,000 MILES HAD BEEN DRIVEN ON THIS VEHICLE AND I AM BEING TOLD THAT I HAVE TO SPEND 600 DOLLARS ON A BRAKE JOB. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS, DIFFERENT MAKES AND MODELS AND I HAVE NEVER EVER HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES, ROTORS, PADS, DRUMS, SHOES SO SOON. I BELIEVE THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS DEFECTIVE ROTORS, DRUMS AND SHOULD BE REPLACED AT MANUFACTURERS/DEALERS COST. I OWN A 2011 KIA SPORTAGE AND DROVE THAT FOR CLOSE TO 60,000 MILES BEFORE HAVING TO DO BRAKES. THE BRAKES HAVE A PULSATING, VIBRATING WHEN BRAKING ON HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND ON CITY ROADS. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS WELL. BRAKES ON A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED SO SOON.
PURCHASED VEHICLE SEPTEMBER 2015 WITH 59,000 MILES. 8 MONTHS LATER THE MASTER CYLINDER MALFUNCTIONS. BRAKE PEDAL HAS TO BE PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND MAKES A WEIRD NOISE, LIKE A CREAKING NOISE. I TAKE IT TO BE REPAIRED. THEY BLEED THE BRAKES. TEMPORARY FIX. NOVEMBER 2016, SAME PROBLEM AND I TAKE IT TO BE REPAIRED AND MASTER CYLINDER IS REPLACED. 5 MONTHS LATER, SAME PROBLEM AND THE MASTER CYLINDER IS BEING REPLACED AGAIN FOR THE 2ND TIME.
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT TURNING,LEFT AT A BIG INTERSECTION IN POOLER, GA THERE WAS A DOUBLE TURN LANE. I TALKED MY BRAKES AS OTHER CAR NEXT TO ME WAS IN MY LANE ON THE TURN. HE ADJUSTED AND I PRECEDED UP THE INCLINED ROAD TO WHERE CARS WERE STOPPED WAITING FOR THE LIGHT. I WAS HORRIFIED AS I REALIZED MY BRAKES WAS NOT STOPPING BY THE TIME MY BRAIN COMPUTED THEY WAS NOT WORKING,WHEN THEY JUST WORKED SECONDS EARLIER. NEXT THEN I HEARD A GUN SHOT NOISE FROM AIR BAGS EXPLODING AND WAS IN THE REAR END OF AN SUV. I RECALL MY BRAKES WAS REPLACED AT 37000 MILES PAD WERE THIN AND CONSTANT BRAKE DUST DAILY ON MY RIMS. I AM FORTUNATE MINOR INJURIES AND WAS GOING AT A LOW SPEED. THIS COULD OF BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT IF ON THE FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS. MY BRAKES FAILING CAUSES ME HIGH ANXIETY AND,FEAR WHEN DRIVING NOW. INSURANCE COMPANY DOES NOT INSPECT MY BRAKES ISSUE WHICH IS DISHEARTENING SINCE THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF MY ACCIDENT. I WAS GOING ABOUT 15 TO 20 AND BRAKING TO SLOW DOWN SO I THOUGHT THEN REALIZED MY CAR WAS NOT STOPPING.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
THERE'S A HIGH PITCHED METAL GRINDING NOISE THAT HAS BEEN COMING AND GOING ON IT'S OWN WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. THIS NOISE HAPPENS AT SLOW OR HIGH SPEEDS. MY BRAKE PADS STILL HAVE MEAT ON THEM AND THE ROTOR IS NOT WARPED AS WELL. I'VE EVEN CHECKED FOR BRAKE DUST WHICH I DON'T HAVE ANY SO I'M NOT SURE WHAT'S GOING ON. MY FRIEND'S 2012 COROLLA MAKES THE SAME METAL GRINDING NOISE WHEN BRAKING AND THERE HAS EVEN BEEN COMPLAINTS ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND SEE PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR OVER TWO YEARS AGO AND IT STILL HAS BEEN MAKING THE SAME NOISE SINCE THEN. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS POSITIONED SO THAT IT CAN CATCH THE SIDE OR SOLE OF THE DRIVER'S SHOE SO THAT THE BRAKES CANNOT BE ACTIVATED. IT CAN CAPTURE THE SHOE UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKES. WHEN NEEDING BRAKES UNDER AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, THE SHOE CAN BE TRAPPED, AND CAN INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR, AND CAUSED MY MOTHER TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT, BECAUSE SHE COULD NOT GET HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS INJURED, AND ONLY 3 CARS WERE DAMAGED.
I LEASED MY CAR IN JUNE 2013 AND ABOUT A YEAR AND HALF LATER THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT MY BRAKES ARE GETTING LOW. I WAS CONFUSED I THOUGHT BRAKES LASTED A LEAST THREE YEARS BRAND NEW OUT THE DEALERSHIP. HE SAID NO IT DEPENDS HOW I DRIVE AND HOW MANY TIMES I STOP. SO I SAID REALLY YOU HAVE CARS COMING IN A YEAR AND HALF LATER THAT HAVE LOW BRAKES ALREADY IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU GUYS PUT IN CHEAP BRAKES. HE SAID NO THAT THEIR BRAKES ARE TOP QUALITY BRAKES. SO I SAID OK BUT I WILL WAIT SIX MONTHS. SO HERE WE ARE NOW 2 YEARS INTO MY LEASE AND ABOUT 19500 MILES INTO MY CAR THEY SAID I NEEDED BRAKES. I CALLED PEP BOYS, MIDAS, AND OTHER SHOPS THEY SAID MY BRAKES SHOULDN'T DIE THAT FAST. I SAID I THOUGHT SO TOO BUT THE TOYOTA INSIST THAT THEIR BRAKES ARE EXCELLENT AND THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR BRAKES TO DIE AT ABOUT 2 YEARS IN.

HE HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL A FEW TIMES IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,500.
DRIVING SLOWLY IN TRAFFIC, CAR IN FRONT STOPPED. I WENT TO STOP AND PUMPED BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES BUT CAR WOULD NOT STOP. REAR ENDED CAR IN FRONT, STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG DEPLOYED AND ENGINE STOPPED. THEN DROVE CAR TO RENTAL AGENCY USING HAND/EMERGENCY BRAKE ONLY, AND TRADED IN DAMAGED CAR FOR DIFFERENT ONE. DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING MORE ABOUT WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN FOUND WRONG WITH VEHICLE. *TR
