Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)MY 2010 TOYOTA MATRIX HAS BEEN HAVING A OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS. I HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. SO FAR I HAVE HAD TWO OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS AND BOTH TIMES THEY SAY ITS UNDER THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT OF OIL LOSS. BUT WHEN I TAKE MY CAR IN UNDER THE RECOMMENDED TIME FOR A OIL CHANGE I HAVE ALMOST NO OIL LEFT. NOW MY ENGINE HAS A SLIGHT RATTLE WHEN I ACCELERATE. EVERY MORNING WHEN I START MY CAR MY GARAGE FILLS WITH SMOKE THAT COMES FROM MY TAIL PIPE. I SHOWED A VIDEO OF THIS TO A TOYOTA SERVICE ADVISOR AND HE JUST BRUSHED IT OFF.
DRIVING TOYOTA MATRIX 2010, IN 97DEGREE HEAT, UP A HILL (6 MILES LONG), IN 3RD GEAR, AIR CONDITIONING OFF (AS SUGGESTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL), ON CRUISE CONTROL. SPEED OF APPROX 60 MPH. THE CAR SPUTTERED AND THEN STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AFTER ABOUT 5 MIN. NOTHING WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE YET. AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN MADE. *TR
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
