The crash caused the vehicle to slide to a complete stop. None of the air bags deployed. The driver of the Ford F-150 stated that the sun created a glare, preventing them from noticing the red light they had driven through. The contact's vehicle was towed and deemed totaled by their insurance. A police report was filed. The contact received a broken rib, rotator cuff, whiplash, and back injuries. Medical attention was needed. The dealer was not informed of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
THE SEAT BELTS IN THE BACKSEAT ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL. THE DEALER IS TELLING US THAT IT WILL BE $650 TO MAKE THEM FUNCTIONAL AGAIN. I HAVE HAD MANY CARS , MAKES AND MODELS AND HAVE NEVER HAD ALL MY SEAT BELTS FAIL LIKE THIS. THEY DO NOT RETRACT ANYMORE. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE SOME RESPONSIBILITY IN FIXING THIS ISSUE,
THE SEAT BELTS IN THE BACK SEAT ARE TOTALLY INOPERABLE. THEY DO NOT RETRACT , SO IF YOU USE THEM THEY ARE EXPANDED TO THEIR LARGEST SIZE AND WILL NOT RETRACT. WE HAVE CHILDREN THAT HAVE CARSEATS AND WE ARE UNABLE TO USE THE BACK SEAT OF OUR VEHICLE

TRAVELLING 30-35 MPH. TRIED TO STOP-BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND CAR ACCELERATED. HIT A STEEL SIGN WHICH TOTALLED THE CAR. AIRBAGS FAILED TO ACTVATE EVEN THOUGH THE FORCE OF HITTING THE SIGN DROVE THE ENGINE BACK TO THE DASHBOARD.CITY STREET.

WE WERE EXITING 66 AT EXIT 55 (FAIRFAX CO. PARKWAY) NORTHERN VA. WE WERE GOING 3 MPH, A HEAVY DELIVERY TRUCK HIT US GOING 40 MPH PUSHING US WITH CONSIDERABLE FORCE INTO THE VAN IN FRONT OF US. OUR AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, NONE OF THEM DEPLOYED. MY HUSBAND SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL AND I WAS BOUNCED BACK AND FORTH A FEW TIMES INJURING MY HEAD, NECK AND BACK. MY DOCTORS THINK MY INJURIES WERE MADE WORSE BY THE FACT THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT PREVENT ME FROM BEING THROWN SO FAR FORWARD. WE CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY DID NOT WANT TO INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE. *TR
I WAS REAR ENDED AT BY A CAR GOIN ALMOST FULL SPEED IN A SPEED LIMIT ZONE OF 45 AT A RED LIGHT, WHILE I WAS SLOWING DOWN. WHILE APPROACHING THE LINE OF CARS IN FRONT OF ME I STARTED SLOWING DOWN PUMPING MY BRAKES TO LET TO DRIVERS BEHIND KNOW I WAS SLOWING DOWN. I WAS THEN REAR ENDED AND SHOT INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, LIFTING UP THE FRONT OF MY CAR AND SMASHING INTO ANOTHER VECHILE. MY FIREWALL WAS COMPLETELY BENT IN AS WELL AS HALF OF THE FRONT BUMPER AND FRAME TORN OFF. I HAD NO AIRBAGS DEPLOY ON EITHER THE PASSENGER OR DRIVER SIDE. IT MAKES ME CONCERNED THAT IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT, I COULD HAVE OBTAINED SEVERE INJURIES COMPARED TO THE WHIPLASH AND SHOULDER PAINS I CURRENTLY HAVE. *TR

I BECAME ILL WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A ROAD CONSTRUCTION AREA, BECOMING NAUSEOUS AND DIZZY. MY HEAD BANGED AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL AND I LOST CONSCIOUSNESS, THE VEHICLE LEAVING THE ROAD. I UNDERSTAND FROM REPORTS THAT THE VEHICLE ROLLED AND, FROM LOOKING AT IT AFTER THE FACT, I BELIEVE THIS TO BE ACCURATE. HOWEVER, NONE OF THE AIR BAGS WENT OFF...THERE WERE FOUR: TWO IN THE FRONT AND ONE ON EACH SIDE. NONE OF THEM DEPLOYED. I SUSTAINED MINOR INJURY TO MY FACE (SWELLING AND BRUISING TO MY RIGHT EYE FROM IMPACT WITH STEERING WHEEL AND PROBABLY SHIFT KNOB AS WELL) AND A CONCUSSION. LOCAL POLICE FILED AN ACCIDENT REPORT. I HAVE NOTIFIED TOYOTA OF THIS. THEY SAID AT LEAST THE SIDE BAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED, IF NOT ALL OF THEM. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION CHECKING AT LEAST THE VEHICLE'S RECORDING DEVICE WITHIN 30 DAYS AND GET BACK TO ME. I PROVIDED THEM WITH THE NAME, ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER OF THE WRECKING SERVICE THAT TOWED MY VEHICLE AND WAS IN CURRENT POSSESSION OF IT. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT SHOWED THAT THE AIR BAG IS "OFF" WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE HAD NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE AIRBAG HAD BEEN DEPLOYED. THE TOYOTA DEALER SAID IT WAS A SOFTWARE GLITCH AND REPAIRED THE PROBLEM, BUT HE CHARGED AN $85 DIAGNOSTIC FEE, PLUS TAX BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS MORE THAN 35,000 MILES. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT SAFETY DEVICES WERE NOT SUBJECT TO WARRANTY LIMITATIONS. *TR
DURING THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE E SHAFT RECALL IN 2013 THE CLOCKSPRING WAS DAMAGED. AFTER A FEW MONTHS THE CERTAIN STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS (INFO, FRONT AND REAR DEFROSTER, AND THE RECIRCULATE AIR) WORKED INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST. THEN, ABOUT A YEAR AFTER THE RECALL, THEY ONLY FUNCTIONED WHEN THE WHEEL WAS TURNED SIDEWAYS. NOW THEY DO NOT WORK AT ALL. I'M CONCERNED THE AIR BAG WILL BE AFFECTED BY THIS ERROR. *TR

OWNER ENTERED VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO LATCH DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT. UPON PLACING TAB INTO BUCKLE, BUCKLE SHOT A SPRING INTO THE CAR AND WOULD NOT LATCH. AIRBAGS CHECKED BY INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTOR. INSPECTOR SAID THE AIRBAG SENSORS WERE IMPACTED AND SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED THE AIRBAGS IF THEY WERE WORKING PROPERLY. *TR
