THE ABS, THE TRACTION CONTROL, AND THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 159,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

SPEEDOMETER AND GAS METER ELECTRONIC DISPLAY NO LONGER WORKS. IT STOPPED ONCE IT WAS IN MOTION AND HAS NOT TURNED BACK ON. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND IT IS NOT A FUSE. ENTIRE DIGITAL DISPLAY PANEL WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE UP UNTIL THE 2009 TOYOTA PRIUS MODELS. CAR WAS REVIEWED AT RED MCCOMBS TOYOTA, SAN ANTONIO TX I10-W.
48 MPG WHEN PURCHASED NEW IN JULY 2009. 30 MPG AT 130,000 MILES IN 2016. GUMOUT AND SEAFOAM HELPED CLEAN OUT FUEL INJECTORS WITH IMPROVED 35 MPG.
TAKATA RECALL: OUR CAR IS OVER 6 YEARS OLD. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE IS A FAULTY TAKATA AIRBAG IN MY CAR, AND GET IT REPLACED IMMEDIATELY IF SO.
LOW BEAM HEADLAMP BULBS FAIL REPEATEDLY IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF BULB BRAND OR MODEL. I HAVE HAD THESE PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED AT MULTIPLE SHOPS. HAPPENS ON BOTH SIDES, BUT THE LATEST IS ON DRIVER SIDE.
I HAVE HAD OUR PRUIS FOR A WHILE NOW AND I LOVED THE CAR. NOW THE CAR IS A NIGHTMARE AND A DANGER. THE ENGINE IS BURNING OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE AND COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY. WE ARE HAVING TO PUT OIL IN IT EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS . IT DID STALL ONCE, SO I CHECKED EVERYTHING I COULD AND THEN NOTICED THERE WAS HARDLY ANY OIL ON DIP STICK AFTER CHANGE OIL A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE. THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T TELL YOU ANYTHING ABOUT THE HAZARDOUS OR RECALLS FOR THE CAR. THEY JUST TELL YOU TO GET ANOTHER OIL CHANGE. ITS RECOMMENDED EVERY 3,000-5,000 MILES BUT EVERY 1,000 MILES IS RIDICULOUS PLUS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE IF YOU ADD IT UP. WE CANT AFFORD TO HAVE THE ENGINE REBUILT EITHER. TOYOTA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I CANT BELIEVE THEY KNOW OF THE PROBLEM AND DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS' SAFETY. I ALSO READ SOME OTHER COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES WITH THE OIL BURNING OFF CAUSING HARMFUL GASES. MY WIFE WAS BACK AND FORTH TO THE DOCTOR FOR THROAT ISSUES. I BELIEVE IT WAS THE CAR ALL LONG, HUNDREDS IN DOCTOR BILLS FOR THEIR LACK OF HUMANITY. SO HERE WE GO AGAIN, ANOTHER VISIT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I WANT THIS PROBLEM FIXED BY TOYOTA. WE MIGHT HAVE TO TAKE LEGAL ACTION.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V053000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE PROVIDED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE DRIVEN PEOPLE FOR A LIVING FOR OVER 30 YEARS. I BOUGHT A PRIUS BECAUSE OF FUEL COSTS. A MONTH AGO WHILE TRANSPORTING PASSENGERS, MY POWER BRAKES GO OUT AND MY DASH LIGHTS UP WITH ABS,BRAKE, & TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS. I TAKE IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER WHO CHARGES ME $111 TO TELL ME I HAVE A BRAKE PROBLEM AND THAT IT WILL COST $4418 TO FIX IT. CODE # C1391; THEY RECOMMEND REPLACING THE MASTER CYLINDER; AND BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLY SAYING THERE IS AN ABNORMAL LEAK DOWN OF THE BRAKE ACCUMULATOR. THIS IS INSANE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX IT AND MUST CONTINUE TO WORK TO LIVE; THEREFORE DRIVING ABOUT 200 MILES/DAY WITH HYDRAULIC ONLY BRAKES. MY RESEARCH INDICATES THERE WAS A MAJOR RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON THE 2010 MODEL. THE DEALERSHIP AND TOYOTA CORPORATE BOTH SAY MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I FEEL AS THOUGH IT SHOULD BE SINCE, OBVIOUSLY, THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED. I AM NOT ALONE, AS MANY OWNERS ON PRIUSCHAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN TO NOT ONLY MYSELF, OTHER VEHICLES OR PEDESTRIANS, BUT ALSO MY PASSENGERS. AN EXPANDED RECALL IS NECESSARY AND WARRANTED. ANYTHING YOU CAN DO WILL HELP AND MAKE US ALL SAFER. .

THE CONTACT APPLIED EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A BRAKE PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V235000 (SERVICE BRAKES). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
ON 05/25/2016 AT ABOUT 9AM, WHILE IN MOTION AT A RATE OF SPEED APPROX 25 MPH ON A STREET DURING CONSTRUCTION (DON'T KNOW IF THE BUMPY ROAD HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT), THE CHANGE OIL SOON LIGHT APPEARED AND SECONDS LATER ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON WITH THE MESSAGE TO CHECK THE "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM" . I TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND IT KEPT ACCELERATING. I PRESSED ON THE BREAKS REALLY HARD AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT KEPT FLASHING ON AND OFF LIKE CRAZY BUT IT BARELY HAD ANY IMPACT. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE SLOWED, IT DID NOT COME TO A FULL STOP. I ENDED UP HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. THANK GOD IT WAS A TRUCK AND AS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR FROM MOVING FURTHER OR I COULD OF ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. AFTER THE COLLISION, THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP ALTHOUGH THE PARK BUTTON WAS PRESSED AND LIGHT WAS ON. I EVEN TRIED TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE STAYED ON AND IN DRIVE. I ENDED UP IN THE HOSPITAL AND DON'T KNOW HOW IT EVENTUALLY GOT TURNED OFF BUT THAT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. ON IMPACT, THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT EVEN TIGHTEN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NITROGEN FUEL LEAKED INTO THE BRAKE FLUID. THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V235000 (SERVICE BRAKES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,485. IN 2016 ABOUT THE 130,000+ MILE MARK ON MY VEHICLE, I STARTED COMPLAINING ABOUT MY CAR CONSUMING OIL. THE DEALER FINDLAY TOYOTA ASSURED ME THAT IT HAD TO DO WITH THE HEAT AND WAS NORMAL. I WAS LEAD TO BELIEVE THE PAPER I SIGNED AFTER THE WORK WAS COMPLETE HAS TO DO WITH THE MAINTENANCE BEING DONE, NO ONE MENTIONED IT MEANT ALL MY CONCERNS WERE ACKNOWLEDGED. THE DAYS CONTINUED AND EVEN IN DURING COLDER MONTHS OF THE YEAR OF 2016, I AGAIN NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP OF MY CAR EATING OIL AND IT WAS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. AGAIN I COMPLAINED AND IT WAS NOT ANNOTATED OR WRITTEN ANYWHERE IN THEIR FILES. IT WAS NOT UNTIL 26,000 MILES PLUS MORE THAT THEY FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGED MY ISSUE AND TOOK THEIR TIME TO SEARCH FOR THE CAUSE. IN THE MONTH OF MARCH 2017, ONE INDIVIDUAL FROM TOYOTA ACTUALLY TOOK HIS TIME AND DID A FULL CHECK, INSTEAD OF THE USUAL ITS HOT HERE AND THAT EATS YOUR OIL EXCUSE, HE GIVE ME AN ANSWER WHICH LEAD TO ME HAVING CONCERNS ABOUT TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS, HE SAID THE PISTONS HAD A LEAK AND IT WAS BURNING UP MY OIL. I CALLED TOYOTA AND FOUND OUT MY CAR HAD A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE BUT HERE IS THE CATCH, MY CAR WOULD HAVE TO BE UNDER 150,000 MILES, WHICH IT WAS UNDER WHEN I STARTED TO FIRST COMPLAIN. NOW THAT I AM OVER THAT MILEAGE AND WAS NEVER NOTIFIED, GREAT DEALERSHIPS TELL YOU WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR CAR FOR ANY MAINTENANCE ABOUT RECALLS, THEY SAY IT SUP TO ME TO FIX THIS ISSUE THEY KNEW THESE CARS HAVE. SINCE THEY NEVER WROTE DOWN ANY OF MY COMPLAINS, THERE IS NO PROOF OF ME COMPLAINING. THIS CAR BURNS OIL MOVING OR SITTING AS LONG AS THE PISTONS ARE MOVING. WHERE HAS THE HONESTY AND PROFESSIONALISM OF FINDLAY TOYOTA. WHAT IS MY NEXT STEP I ASK THE READER?
BRAKES SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON 4 LANE HIGHWAY. DASHBOARD ALARMS ALSO INDICATED THERE WAS A BRAKE PROBLEM. PER TOYOTA TECHNICIAN AT PRESTIGE TOYOTA IN KINGSTON NY, GAS BUBBLES CONTAMINATED BRAKES AND RUINED PUMP AND ACTUATOR. ACCORDING TO TOYOTA WARRANTY ASSISTANCE REPRESENTATIVE "FRED," WHO SPOKE WITH LOCAL TECHNICIAN, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT CONDITION, BUT DID NOT INCLUDE MY PARTICULAR VIN. I WAS VERY LUCKY NOT TO HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, AND I HAVE TO WONDER HOW MANY OTHER PRIUS DRIVERS ARE AT SERIOUS RISK BECAUSE OF SIMILAR CONDITION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES INDEPENDENTLY ENGAGED AND THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT VEERED OFF THE ROAD AND ROLLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION, FRACTURED RIBS, AND SEVERAL LACERATIONS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
MY HEADLIGHT CAUGHT FIRE AND SEVERELY BURNED MY CAR. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON A CITY STEET AND SAW A WISP OF SMOKE AND PULLED OVER INTO A STORE PARKING LOT. I HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING ANYTHING WAS WRONG. IT BEGAN TO SMOKE MORE, AND I CAUTIOUSLY OPENED THE HOOD TO SEE A FIRE COMING FROM MY DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT AREA. WITHIN SECONDS THERE WAS A BLAZE, AND IT TOOK 3 FIRE EXTINGUISHERS TO PUT IT OUT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CONFIRMED THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE HEADLIGHT. I HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH MY HEADLIGHT BECOMING DULL AND CLOUDY. AN EARLIER NHTSA INVESTIGATION DID NOT RESULT IN A RECALL. I THINK IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLIGHT, ONLY MUCH WORSE. IF THERE WERE NOT MULTIPLE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AVAILABLE THE CAR COULD HAVE EASILY EXPLODED BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. IT COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED HARM TO OTHER PEOPLE.
2010 TOYOTA PRIUS SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED. MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE CAR AGAIN APPEARED TO BE OPERATING NORMALLY. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED TWICE WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE. AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD FIND NO COMPUTER CODES THAT INDICATED ANY PROBLEM. NOW IT'S SIX MONTHS LATER, AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN.
AT 46,900 MILES WITHOUT ANY WARNING ALL THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS DROPPED OFF. HAVE TO PUSH PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO GET THE CAR TO STOP THE LIGHTS FOR TRACTION CONTROL, ANTI LOCK BRAKES AND THE WORD "BRAKE" AND ANOTHER LIGHT LIKE A CIRCLE ARE ON ALL THE TIME NORMALLY THERE IS STRONG BRAKING WHEN FIRST TOUCH THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT NOW VERY LIMITED BRAKING UNTIL PUSH DOWN VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. LOOKED AT BRAKE FLUID AND IT IS FULL, DO NOT KNOW WHY THE BRAKES ARE NOT WORKING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WARNING LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT, AND BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V235000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000. UPDATED 09/06/16*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE MASTER CYLINDER/BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY WERE SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED. ALSO, ON JANUARY 5, 2016, THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING ON A WINDING HIGHWAY. AS HE TRIED TO NEGOTIATE A TURN, THE TIRES SLIPPED OFF THE PAVEMENT AND HE RAN OFF THE ROAD, CAUSING OVER $10,000 IN DAMAGES. UPDATED 10/18/16. *JB
USED 2 QTS OF OIL FOR EVERY 1500 MILES. THERE ARE NO LEAKING OF OIL FOUND UNDER ENGINE
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, THE BRAKES WENT OUT ON MY TOYOTA PRIUS AND THE WARNING LIGHTS FOR ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND BRAKES ALL CAME ON. I STILL HAD A SMALL AMOUNT OF BRAKE PEDAL LEFT AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE CONTINUED TO WORK. WHEN THE TOYOTA DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TODAY, THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A $3500 BRAKE BOOSTER AND THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL OR WARRANTY. THE SYMPTOMS, THE WARNING LIGHTS, AND THE RESULTS ALL MATCH A PREVIOUS TOYOTA RECALL (D0H) EXACTLY, YET THEY WILL NOT INCLUDE MY CAR UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THE ORIGINAL RECALL. THEY'RE LUCKY I WASN'T PHYSICALLY INJURED IN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY THIS. I SUGGESTED TO THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REP THAT MAYBE MY CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT THEY DID NOT AGREE.
ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCKS CONTINUE TO FAIL. I HAVE TAKEN MY PRIUS BACK TO TOYOTA TWO OR THREE TIMES TO FIX BROKEN ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCKS. AT THAT TIME, VEHICLE WAS UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE COST TO REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK WAS COVERED. VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND TOYOTA IS QUOTING OVER $400 TO FIX. THE FACT THAT THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN (AND TO DIFFERENT DOORS) LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE ELECTRONIC LOCK MECHANISM. I DO SEE A FEW OTHER COMPLAINS OF THE SAME ISSUE. THIS REPRESENTS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN AS THE AFFECTED DOOR REMAINS UNLOCKED WHILE DRIVING AND CAN BE OPENED WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION (SUCH AS BY A CHILD). THIS IS ALSO A THEFT CONCERN AS THE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK UNLESS WALKING AROUND TO THE AFFECTED DOOR TO MANUALLY LOCK IT.
MY 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS BEGAN HAVING CHRONIC PROBLEMS WITH EXTERIOR LIGHT GOING OUT, STARTING IN MAY 2016 AND PERSISTING UNTIL NOW (NOVEMBER 2016). WE HAVE REPLACE THE BULBS REPEATEDLY JUST TO HAVE THEM GO OUT AGAIN. I CONSIDER THIS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, AND MAKES THIS VEHICLE UNRELIABLE. DEALERSHIP DENIES A SYSTEM FAILURE AND SUGGESTS TO REPLACE BULBS WITH EXPENSIVE ONES. THIS DOES NOT REMEDY THE PR OBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT ABOUT 35 MPH ON A TWO LANE, HILLY ROAD. SUDDENLY, THE ABS AND WARNING LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, AND THERE WAS A LOUD BEEPING NOISE. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. SINCE I WAS TRAVELING UPHILL, I SLOWED AND THEN USED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALER AND DIAGNOSED, I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL LEAK IN THE HYDRAULIC UNIT OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM, AND THAT THE ABS PUMP MODULE AND BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THIS WAS A VERY SIMILAR ISSUE TO A RECALL OF OTHER 2010 TOYOTA PRIUS VEHICLES, BUT THE RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VIN NUMBER. TOYOTA CLAIMS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS "REMEDIED" BEFORE MY VEHICLE WAS PRODUCED EVEN THOUGH ONE OF MY TROUBLE CODES IS THE SAME AS THE TROUBLE CODE REFERRED TO IN THE RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
OIL WARNING SYSTEM CAME ON 4-20-16. OIL CHANGE NOT DUE FOR ANOTHER 1000 MILES. GARAGE CHANGED OIL AT 95188 MILES. LESS THAN 4 MONTHS LATER ON AUG. 9,2016, OIL WARNING SYSTEM CAME ON. I WATCHED AS 3 QUARTS OF OIL WERE ADDED AT MILEAGE 99712, 4524 MILES LATER. PRIUS IS USING 1 QUART OF OIL FOR EVERY 1500 MILES.
DOES MY VEHICLE HAVE A TAKADA AIRBAG. I KNOW IT IS NOT PART OF A RECALL. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHO MANUFACTURED THE AIRBAG IN MY CAR!!!!!
ON APRIL 14, BOTH MY LOW-BEAM STOPPED WORKING. UNFORTUNATELY I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE HOME IN THE DARK, ON A WINDING CANYON ROAD ALTERNATING BETWEEN NO LIGHT AND HIGH-BEAMS. I TOOK MY CAR THE NEXT MORNING TO TOYOTA OF N. HOLLYWOOD FOR REPAIR. I ASSUMED IT WOULD BE A FUSE OR LOOSE WIRE. I THOUGHT IT HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT BOTH LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT AT THE EXACT SAME TIME. MY SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THIS WAS NOT UNCOMMON. HE QUOTED ME $110 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. RELUCTANTLY I GAVE THE "GO-AHEAD" FOR THE REPLACEMENT (WHAT CHOICE DID I REALLY HAVE???). ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER LEAVING MY CAR FOR THE REPLACMENT, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE MGR. INFORMING ME THAT THE HOUSING ON FOR THE LEFT LIGHT WAS "MELTED" AND IT WOULD NEED TO ALSO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $350. I ASKED IF THIS WAS COVERED UNDER WARRENTY (2010 CAR WITH 40300 MILES) AND WAS TOLD NO. I SAID THAT THIS SOUNDS LIKE A DESIGN FLAW, AS SURELY THE WHEN THE HOUSING WAS CREATED, THE HEATING ELEMENT AND OUTPUT OF THE STANDARD LIGHT BULB WOULD BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION IN THE DESGN. MY SERVICE MGR. INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS NOT UNCOMMON AS IT HAPPENS TO TACOMA'S QUITE FREQUENTLY. AGAIN, I RELUCTANTLY GAVE THE GREEN LIGHT FOR THE REPAIR, AND REQUESTED THAT I BE GIVEN ALL PARTS UPON WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR. AFTER GETTING OFF THE PHONE, I REALIZED THROUGH AN ONLINE SEARCH THAT 1) THERE WAS A RECALL IN PLACE FOR 2004-2009 PRIUS FOR LIGHTING ISSUES; AND 2) THERE WAS A RECALL FOR TACOMA'S FOR THE MELTING ISSUE. CLEARLY THIS IS STILL A ISSUE. I FOUND ANOTHER PERSON ON THIS VERY SITE WHO SHARED THE VERY SAME PROBLEM HE HAD FOUR DAYS BEFORE ME. THE RECALL FOR THE PRIUS MUST BE EXTENDED. LOOKING ONLINE, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS GOING BEYOND THE SCOPE OF THE YEARS INCLUDED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. THIS LITTLE REPAIR COST OVER $540 DOLLARS. SHAMEFUL ON TOYOTA.
BOTH OF MY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT SUDDENLY. I DIDN'T REALIZE IT UNTIL I WAS DRIVING ONTO THE FREEWAY AND HAD TO TURN ON MY HIGH BEAMS SO I WOULDN'T CRASH WHILE ON THE DARK ONRAMP OF THE FREEWAY. THE HOUSING OF THE LEFT LOW BEAM IS BLOWN OUT. I BROUGHT IN MY PRIUS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER THIS EVEN THOUGH I HAVE THE PLATINUM WARRANTY.
WE CAME TO THE DEALERSHIP AT AUBURN BLVD AND THEY TOLD US THEY DON'T HAVE A PARTS FOR RECAL AND IT WILL TAKE ABOUT A WEEK TO ORDER THEM . THEY GAVE US A PAPER STATING THAT THE RECAL HAS BEEN FIXED FOR DMV PURPOSES TO RENEW THE REGISTRATION EVEN THOUGH RECAL WASN'T FIXED. IT HAS BEEN MORE THEN 4 MONTHS AND NO ONE FROM DEALERSHIP CALLED US TO INFORM US WHEN THEY'LL ACTUALLY FIX THE RECALLED PART. EVERY TIME I CALL THEM THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE PART IN STOCK AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY'LL RECEIVE IT. PLEASE HELP!

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE JUST RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER NUMBER: 16V487000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED BACK IN APRIL OF 2016. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

2010 TOYOTA PRIUS HEADLIGHTS BURN OUT FREQUENTLY. ONE OF THE HEADLIGHTS BURN OUT EVERY 5 TO 6 MONTHS. I CAN'T JUST REPLACE THE BURNT OUT BULB AS THE OTHER ONE THEN BURNS OUT.
ONE OF MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, SO I REPLACED BOTH. A FEW WEEKS LATER, I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, ROUGHLY 8PM, AND MY BOTH OF MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT. THEY WOULD NOT COME BACK ON. ONLY THE HIGH-BEAMS WERE FUNCTIONAL. AFTER SPEAKING WITH MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE OF A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO REPLACE THE FAULTY WIRING. I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO COMPREHEND HOW A CAR'S MOST BASIC SAFETY FEATURE, MAYBE ASIDE FROM THE BRAKES, IS SUFFERING FROM A KNOWN ISSUE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. WITHOUT AN INTERVENTION IN THIS MATTER, TOYOTA'S WILLINGNESS TO IGNORE THIS PROBLEM, AS THEY HAVE WITH MANY OTHERS IN THE PAST, WILL CERTAINLY LEAD TO DEATH.
