THIS COMPLAINT IS RELATED TO DISCOVERY SRX P215/70R16 COOPER TIRES WHICH WERE BOUGHT ON OCTOBER 23 2018. THESE TIRES ARE IDENTICAL TO RECALL 'NHTSA RECALL NO. - 19T-005 AFFECTING COOPER DISCOVERER' AND COOPER EVOLUTION' TIRES' ONLY THEY ARE THE 16 INCH TIRES. WE BELIEVE THAT THE 16 INCH TIRES SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. HERE ARE THE ISSUES THAT WE HAVE HAD WITH THESE TIRES: 1.10-23-18 PURCHASED DISCOVERY SRX P215/70R16 COOPER TIRES WITH ROAD HAZARD FROM BLAINS FARM & FLEET IN VERONA WI VEHICLE MILES 106292 2.10-28-18 REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEW FOR NO REASON, CHANGED AND RETURNED TO BLAINS FOR REPLACEMENT (NO RECEIPT WAS GIVEN) 3.11-25-18 WHILE DRIVING HOME AND ROUNDING A CORNER, THE CAR VEERED INTO A CURVE AND DESTROYED THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE, RIM, AND WHEEL COVERS ON BOTH WHEELS. REAR TIRE WAS ALSO REPLACED BECAUSE OF BULGE ON TIRE. WE PAID THE $770.46 BECAUSE WE THOUGHT IT WAS OUR FAULT BUT NOW ARE WONDERING IF THIS WAS A TIRE ISSUE TOO. MILEAGE 107274 4. 02/21/2019 FOUND BULGE IN REAR PASSENGER TIRE, REPLACED TIRE AT BLAINS FARM AND FLEET 5.2/27/19 HAD ALIGNMENT CHECKED BECAUSE TIRE FELT LIKE THEY WERE NOISY AND WONDERING IF THERE WAS ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES. 6.04/16/21 FOUND BULGE IN DRIVERS SIDE FRONT TIRE AND WILL HAVE REPLACED. CALLED DAVID AT COOPER TO EXPLAIN ALL OF THE ISSUES WE HAVE HAD SAY THAT THE FAILURES ALIGN WITH RECALL 19T-005 EXCEPT FOR THE SIZE OF THE TIRE. HE SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING EXCEPT WANTED US TO TAKE THE TIRE WITH THE BULGE TO THE DEALER, WHICH WILL DO.
BURNING OIL. I HAVE TO PUT OIL ALL THE TIME. MECHANICS SAID CAR CAN'T FIX BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS THE PROBLEM. I CAN ONLY CHANGE THE ENGINE BECAUSE IT IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEMS. THE CAR BURN GAS AS WELL.

I BOUGHT A 2006 RAV4 OVER THE WEEKEND AND THE UNDERINFLATION LIGHT IS ON. I CHECKED THE 4 TIRES ON THE GROUND AND THEY WERE ALL OK. I DECIDED TO CHECK THE SPARE AND AFTER ABOUT 30-45 MINUTES OF FRUSTRATION, I GAVE UP TRYING TO REMOVE THE COVER. I CALLED SERVICE AND THE TECH SAID, SOMETHING LIKE, "YEAH, THOSE ARE HARD TO GET OFF AND EVEN HARDER TO GET BACK ON." ANYWAY, THIS IS THE COVER WITH THE HARD SHELL AND THE VINYL WITH ELASTIC AROUND THE BACK--IT DOES NOT HAVE THE LATCH. I FINALLY GOT THE VINYL COMPLETELY PULLED TOWARDS THE BACK AND AROUND THE HARD SHELL BUT I YANKED, PULLED AND PRIED AND COULDN'T GET THE HARD SHELL TO BUDGE. IT WAS COLD IN THE GARAGE AND MY HANDS PROBABLY WEREN'T WORKING SO WELL BUT IT SHOULD BE EASIER. THE QUESTION IS: WHAT IF I HAVE A FLAT TIRE WHILE IN HIGHWAY, FIRST OF ALL REMOVING THIS COVER IS NOT EASY AT ALL FOR MEN, WHAT ABOUT WOMEN? ALSO, STOPPING ON THE HIGHWAY SHOULDER FOR LONG TIME TRYING TO REMOVE THIS COVER IS NOT A SAFE OPTION. I SAW ANOTHER RAV4 WITH THE SAME SHAPE OF THIS COVER BUT WITHOUT THIS VINYL. IT'S LIKE A BODY FROM BACK AND THE SHELL CAP OVER IT. THIS ONE TAKES LESS THAN A MINUTE TO REMOVE IT. I BELIEVE THAT TOYOTA SHOULD RECALL THIS TYPE OF SPARE TIRE COVER AND CHANGE IT WITH THE NEWEST BODY AND SHELL ONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA RAV 4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO REPAIR HIS TRANSMISSION WHEN THE MECHANIC NOTIFIED HIM THAT THE WHEELS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WERE RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE TIRES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE PURCHASED FOUR BRIDGESTONE TIRES FOR 648.66 ON OCTOBER 26, 2010. ON MARCH 29, 2012 THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AND BALANCED. ON AUGUST 30, 2012, THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER WALMART TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED HIM, THE TIRES WERE TOO BALD ON THE INSIDE TO BE ROTATED. THE CONSUMER STATED NO ONE MENTIONED TO HIM BACK IN MAY THAT TWO OF THE FOUR TIRES WERE WEARING ABNORMALLY.
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA RAV4 W/40,000MI. AND ALL 4 ALLOY WHEELS ARE CORRODED. THEY HAVE BEEN CORRODING FOR 1 1/2 TO 2 YEARS. THE CORROSION NOW HAS GONE TO THE TPMS AND ALL 4 VALVES NEED TO BE REPLACED. I REPLACED THE TIRES AT 36,000 MI. AND BROUGHT THE CAR BACK 9 MONTHS LATER BECAUSE THE TIRES KEPT LOSING AIR. THEY TOLD ME ALL THE VALVES WERE ROTTING AT THE STEM AND BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN OF THE TPMS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THESE ARE VERY COSTLY REPAIRS ON A CAR THAT HAS NEVER BEEN ABUSED AND IT JUST SEEMS INFERIOR PRODUCTS WERE USED AND I FEEL LIKE MY SAFETY IS IN JEOPARDY IF I TAKE THIS CAR ON THE HIGHWAY. COULD YOU PLEASE INVESTIGATE OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS FOR CORROSIVE ALLOY WHEELS AND TPMS PROBLEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR WHEELS CORRODED AND THE CORROSION SPREAD TO THE VALVES. THE FAILURE WAS CAUSING THE TIRES TO LOSE AIR RAPIDLY. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE TO THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,680 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,000. UPDATED 06/06/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN HE POINTED OUT THE RUST TO A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AIR WAS NOT LEAKING FROM THE TIRE. I GOT A FLAT AND I WENT TO REMOVE MY TIRE AND THE BOLT BROKE. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME. I HAD IT FIXED. I WENT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE MY BRAKES DONE AND WAS TOLD THAT A BOLT WAS GOING TO BRAKE IF THEY CONTINUED TO REMOVE THE TIRE. I WAS GIVEN THE OPTION TO HAVE IT FIXED FOR $178. THEN I WAS HAVING MY TIRES ROTATED AT THE SHOP AND ANOTHER BOLT BROKE. THAT MADE 3 BOLTS BROKEN ON THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE. I'VE OWNED 5 BRAND NEW CARS IN MY LIFE AND NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. I'VE CHECKED THE TOYOTA WEBSITE TO SEE IF ANY 2006 RAV4 HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT NO RECALLS REPORTED. *LN
PURCHASED SPECTOR ADVANTA SUV TIRES ON 06/05/08. 235/65/17. COMPLAINED TO DEALER, ASHLAND TIRE AND AUTO CARE, ASHLAND, KY. DEALER RE-BALANCED TIRES WITHOUT POSITIVE RESULTS. IN THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS, AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS TIRES VIBRATED ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE WITH TRACTION CONTROL AND VSC AS WELL. DEALER SAID BUY NEW TIRES. TIRES CURRENTLY HAVE 25,000 MILES. I REPLACED THE TIRES TODAY AND THE PROBLEM SEEMS RESOLVED. I SEE THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE ENGINE TRIES TO DECELERATE WITH THIS COMBINATION OF DASHBOARD LIGHTS. MY 2006 TOYOTA RAV4 SPORT ONLY HAS ABOUT 20000 MILES BUT I ALREADY CHANGED 3 OF 4 TIRES. FIRST TIRE FLATTENED ON HIGHWAY, THEY WERE UNFIXABLE SO I BOUGHT NEW TIRES. THE TIRE SHOP FOUND AN INCH CUT BETWEEN THREAD. ABOUT ONE MONTH LATER ANOTHER TIRE FLATTENED, THEY FOUND THE SAME KIND OF CUT LIKE THE FIRST TIRE. AFTER MARKET METAL TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR VALVE CAP (UNKNOWN MFG) FROZE ON ALL FOUR TOYOTA 2006 RAV4 TPMS VALVE STEMS DUE TO DISSIMILAR METAL CORROSION. UNABLE TO CHECK TIRE PRESSURE OR REMOVE WITHOUT DAMAGING TOYOTA TPMS RESULTING IN $125 PER TIRE PLUS LABOR TO REPAIR FOR A TOTAL OF $680. *TR
TOYOTA TPMS SYSTEM ON RAV4 NOT USABLE WITH SECOND SET OF (SNOW) TIRES. WHEN I PURCHASED AN ADDITIONAL SET OF TOYOTA RAV4 OEM RIMS FOR SNOW TIRES, I WANTED TO PUT TPMS RECEIVES ON THOSE RIMS. WHEN I CALLED MY TOYOTA DEALER, THEY SUGGESTED THAT I NOT PURCHASE AN ADDITIONAL SET OF TPMS VALUES AS MY RAV4 COULD ONLY HOLD ONE SET OF TPMS DATA. THEY INSTEAD SUGGESTED THAT I IGNORE THE TPMS WARNING LIGHT, OR COVER IT UP WITH A PIECE OF BLACK ELECTRICAL TAPE. *JB
