I HAVE HAD THE FIRST RECALL DONE FOR THE LOWER SUSPENSION ARM RECALL C0J AND RECEIVED AN INTERIM NOTIFICATION FOR A REVISED RECALL CSJ SAYING IT IS NOT YET AVAILABLE IN MY AREA. THIS PAST WEEKEND I HAD WORK DONE ON MY VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THE PIN IN MY LOWER SUSPENSION ARM IS BROKE AND I SHOULD HAVE IT FIXED ASAP. I CALLED MY TOYOTA DEALER WHO TOLD ME THE RECALL IS NOT BEING DONE IN MY AREA AS OF YET. I CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE WHO INFORMED ME THE RECALL IS NOT BEING DONE IN MY AREA AND TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AT THE DEALER AND THEY MAY OR MAY NOT BE ABLE TO DO THE RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND FEEL THAT TOYOTA IS NOT WORKING FAST ENOUGH TO REMEDY. I HAVE BEEN VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE NUMBER OF RECALLS THAT HAVE OCCURRED WITH THIS VEHICLE AND VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE AMOUNT OF TIME OFF OF WORK THIS HAS CAUSED ME. *TR
WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL THERE IS AN AUDIBLE CLICK ACCOMPANIED BY FEEDBACK THROUGH THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS IS CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE HARDWARE USED IN THE ASSEMBLY OF THE STEERING COLUMN. THESE WEAKENED COMPONENTS, WHEN COMPLETELY COMPROMISED, MAY LEAD TO A CATASTROPHIC LOSS OF THE ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE. WHEN ASKED, THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT REFUSED TO REPAIR IT FREE OF CHARGE IN THE ABSENCE OF A SAFETY RECALL. *TR
CAR IS CONSUMING OIL, CONSUMES MOST ENGINE OIL IN A 1,000 MILES. OIL CHECK REVEALS NO OIL WITHOUT ANY WARNING OIL LIGHT. THE ENGINE COULD FAIL WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT NOTICE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH 2007 TOYOTA RAV 4S. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DID NOT DISCLOSE THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. *TR
AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE, VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL & 4WD WARNING LIGHTS DISPLAYED ON MY 2007 TOYOTA RAV4 WITH 89,400 MILES, I WENT TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS OF THE PROBLEM. UPON INSPECTION AND TESTING, THEIR SERVICE ADVISOR STATED, "THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM HAS MALFUNCTIONED SINCE WATER HAS LEAKED INTO THE EMISSION SYSTEM & ITS CHARCOAL CANISTER". THE SOURCE OF THE WATER OCCURRED SINCE THE FUEL FILLER TUBE HOUSING NO LONGER WAS PROPERLY ATTACHED/SECURED TO THE VEHICLE. THIS ALLOWED RWATER COMING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE TO ENTER THROUGH THE FUEL FILLER DOOR BY THE FUEL CAP INTO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER. TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, THE FUEL FILLER ASSEMBLY ALONG WITH GASKETS, SOME ELECTRONIC AND THE CHARCOAL CANISTER REQUIRED REPLACEMENT FOR THE EMISSION SYSTEM TO PROPERLY FUNCTION AND TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH EPA STANDARDS. THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR $1,400 WHICH TOYOTA WOULD NOT COVER SINCE IT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL, NOR WOULD THEY CONSIDER PAYING UNDER MY EXTENDED 6 YR 100,000 MILE WARRANTY SINCE THAT EXPIRED JULY 5, 2013. I FIND IT INCREDIBLE THAT TOYOTA WOULD NOT PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS SINCE THEY INVOLVE EMISSIONS AS WELL AS A SAFETY ISSUES. BASED ON MY REVIEW OF VARIOUS BLOGS COVERING RAV4'S, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND TOYOTA ADMITS NO FAULT. AS WITH ALL ISSUES WITH TOYOTA THEY DENY THEY HAVE DESIGN/SAFETY ISSUES WITH ANY OF THEIR VEHICLES - SUDDEN ACCELERATION, STEERING SUSPENSION & BRAKING. IT TOOK ME REPEATED SERVICE VISITS TO GET THEM TO REPLACE THE FRONT STEERING RACK UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. I FEEL MY FUEL FILLER ASSEMBLY AND CHARCOAL CANISTER REPAIR IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE GASOLINE COULD EASILY LEAK OUT DOWN THE TUBE ON GASOLINE OVERFILL AND CAUSE A FIRE IF IT REACHED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. 20 YRS AGO I HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH A HONDA WHICH WAS REPAIRED UNDER A RECALL AT NO CHARGE. YOUR ASSISTANCE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU
I RECEIVED A LETTER LAST SUMMER/EARLY FALL REGARDING A RECALL OF MY 2007 TOYOTA RAV4 DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR SUSPENSION ARM. I'VE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER SINCE NOVEMBER 2013 AND HAVE BEEN TRYING TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. THEY CLAIM THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET THE PARTS FROM TOYOTA AND THEY KEEP PUTTING ME OFF. I BELIEVE THAT THE DEALER AND/OR TOYOTA HAS FAILED OR IS UNABLE TO REMEDY THE DEFECT WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME, THEREFORE I'M FILING A COMPLAINT. THE RECALL STATES THAT THE CONSEQUENCE OF THIS PROBLEM GOING UNCORRECTED COULD BE "FAILURE OF THE REAR TIE ROD COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH". I DRIVE A LOT OF MILES IN THE FALL AND WINTER, TRANSPORTING MY 13 YEAR OLD SON AND FRIENDS TO SOCCER GAMES. I'D REALLY LIKE TO KNOW THAT I'M DRIVING A SAFE VEHICLE! I WANT THIS LOOKED AT ASAP!! *TR
CLUNK NOISE FROM L\R STEERING AND EXCESS PLAY IN STEERING DIAGNOSED AGAIN..AND (COST ME $59..AT DEALER).. AS PROBLEM WITH STEERING SHAFT\INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT ..WAS QUOTED $428 TO CORRECT..THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED IN 2009 @ 27,477 MILES AT WHICH DEALER REPLACED STEERING SHAFT AND INTERMEDIATE SHAFT @ NOCHARGE AS WAS UNDER WARRANTY..UNDER TSB 0318-08 AND TSB327.. USING PART NOS..45221 & 45260.. I BELIEVE TOYOTA HAS ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH REPLACING DEFECTIVE PARTS WITH DEFECTIVE PARTS( OR BAD TSBS) ..NEVER HAD THIS KINDA PROBLEM WITH ANY OTHER TOYOTA OR VEHICLE..THIS SHOULD BE UNDER A RECALL AS I REFUSED TO PAY AGAIN FOR A SAME ISSUE. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT WENT ON AND AFTER SRS DIAGNOSIS TEST FOUND CLOCK SPRING BAD. ESTIMATED REPAIR $522.50. *TR
MY RAV4 HAS BEEN CONSUMING LOTS OF ENGINE OIL LATELY AND I HAVE TO GET THE OIL REFILLED FOR COUPLE OF MONTHS THIS YEAR BEFORE ITS SERVICE IS DUE. ON 10/18/13, THE CHECK ENGINE OIL WARNING LIGHT AGAIN STARTED SO I TOOK IT TO GET THE OIL REFILLED AND THE SERVICE GUY TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK AFTER A WEEK SO WE CAN CHECK THE OIL LEVEL AGAIN. SO IT TOOK IT BACK ON 10/26/13 AND WAS SURPRISED TO FIND THAT MY RAV4 HAD BURNED I QUART OIL IN JUST 8 DAYS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I READ SIMILAR REVIEWS IN EDMUNDS WEBSITE REGARDING THIS ENGINE OIL ISSUE WITH RAV4 MODELS. IS THERE ANY SOLUTION? MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
OIL LIGHT FLASHED ON THEN WENT OFF. STOPPED AT A GAS STATION TO CHECK OIL, THERE WAS NONE IN THE TANK AND I HAD HAD AN OIL CHANGE LESS THAN 1,500 MILES PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. I ADDED 3 QUARTS OF OIL TO MY ENGINE AND NOT 3 WEEKS LATER, HAD TO ADD 2 MORE QUARTS BECAUSE IT WAS EMPTY AGAIN! UPON FURTHER RESEARCH AS TO WHY THIS KEEPS HAPPENING, I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH RAV4'S MODEL YEARS 2006-2008, AND THAT TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THIS IS A PROBLEM, THEY ARE STATING THAT THE OIL CONSUMPTION IS WITHIN TOYOTA'S ACCEPTABLE LIMITS! HOW CAN THAT BE? A CAR SHOULD NOT GO THROUGH 3 QUARTS OF OIL IN 3 WEEKS! ALSO, TOYOTA IS STATING THAT THE ONLY FIX FOR THIS IS TO EITHER REPLACE THE ENGINE OR DO A COMPLETE ENGINE REBUILD TO THE TUNE OF $5,000-$7,000!! FOR A CAR THAT HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES ON IT! IF THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE, WHY DO THEY CONTINUE TO LET IT BE OK? THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THAT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO VEHICLES THIS YOUNG. LUCKILY IT HASN'T BEEN FOR ME YET, BUT FOR OTHERS IT HAS, AND TOYOTA SHOULD DO THEIR PART TO FIX A DEFECT IN THEIR ENGINE DESIGN. *TR
REAR SWAY BAR LINKAGE BROKE. VERY CORRODED. $240 FIX. *TR
AFTER STARTING THE CAR THE AIR BAG LIGHT DID NOT OFF. IT HAS CONTINUED TO STAY ON WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING SINCE OCT. 19 2013. WE HAVE TRIED TROUBLE SHOOTING THE PROBLEM WITH NO SUCCESS. WHEN HAVING RECALL REPAIRS DONE AT LEWIS TOYOTA IN DODGE CITY, KS ON 3/21/14 THE REPAIR MANAGER WAS ASKED ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND GAVE NO INDICATION THAT TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE OR THAT A RECALL WAS BEING ISSUED. TOYOTA HAS STATED THEY WILL SEND LETTERS INFORMING OWNERS BY LATE APRIL. IT IS MID MAY AND WE HAVE STILL RECEIVED NOTHING. *TR
IN OCTOBER I NOTICED A CLUNK IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS IS MOST NOTICEABLE AT SLOW SPEEDS WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA VEHICLES IN THE STEERING SHAFT. I RECENTLY HAD TO HAVE THE STEERING SHAFT REPLACED ON MY 2008 TACOMA, VIN. NO.: [XXX], WITH ONLY 37000 MILES, AND REPORTED THIS TO TOYOTA CUSTOMER REP., THEY SAID THEY WOULD GIVE ME A $350 CREDIT AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR FUTURE WORK, HOWEVER, THE REPLACEMENT WAS CONSIDERABLY HIGHER. I FEAR NOW THAT MY RAV 4 IS GOING THE SAME ROUTE. I FEEL TOYOTA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE IT COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE DRIVING CAR ON HIGHWAY, I HEARD A LOW NOISE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR OF THE CAR THAT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING IN THE RIGHT REAR SUSPENSION BROKE. SINCE THIS TIME, THE CAR SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS LOOSE AND MAKES A KNOCKING SOUND FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 10 MPH AND 30 MPH WHEN YOU GO OVER SMALL BUMPS. IT SOUNDS LIKE A BROKEN SPRING OR SHOCK ABSORBER OR SOME OTHER COMPONENT OF THE REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM IS LOOSE OR BROKEN. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE, OR LETTING OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS DRIVE THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY AT HIGH WAY SPEEDS. *TR
EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION. DID OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AT TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THERE'S NO PROBLEM BUT STILL OIL RUNS DRY AFTER 3K MILES. TOOK IT TO ANOTHER NON TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER FOR SECOND OPINION AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TWO OPTIONS: TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE AT A COST OF $5K OR TO LIVE WITH IT AND CHECK OIL LEVEL WEEKLY AND REFILL IT YOURSELF IF OIL LEVEL IS LOW. ALSO RECOMMENDED USING 10W40 OIL DUE TO HIGH MILEAGE. I CHOSE THE LATTER AND SO FAR GOING GOOD. REALLY NOT HAPPY WITH TOYOTA DEALERS RESPONSE AS THEY WERE HESITANT TO HELP AND KEPT TELLING ME TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE ENGINE THAT WOULD COST ME $$$ SINCE MY WARRANTY EXPIRED.
THERE IS A LOUD "THUD" SOUND COMING FROM MY STEERING COLUMN WHEN MAKING TURNS (LEFT OR RIGHT). THE SOUND HAS BEEN NOTICEABLE FOR ABOUT A YEAR, BUT HAS BECOME FAR WORSE VERY QUICKLY SINCE SEPTEMBER 2013. I CAN TELL THE STEERING WHEEL IS HITTING SOMETHING INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN (THE SOUND PLUS A TUG AT THE WHEEL WHEN I TURN THE CAR). I AM CONCERNED THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND WANT TO BE SURE THERE IS NOTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG WITH THE STEERING COLUMN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA RAV 4. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT PAID FOR THE REPAIRS, AT HER EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE MILEAGE AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE WAS 52,730 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,134. UPDATED 5/27/14*CN UPDATED 08/04/14
HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND WRECK THE FRONT RIGHT CORNER OF THE RAV4 AND NO AIR BAGS WENT OFF. AND MY INS COMPANY TOTAL THE RAV4 AND DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPEN TO THE OTHER CAR. *TR
THIS CAR HAS STARTED TO BURN OIL EXCESSIVELY--AROUND 1 QUART FOR EVERY 600 MILES. IT HAS HAD ITS OIL CHANGED EVERY 5000 MILES SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW, ALONG WITH ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE AT THE RECOMMENDED INTERVALS. *TR
ABOUT 4-5 MONTHS AGO I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TOYOTA REGARDING PROBLEM WITH THE REAR LOWER SUSPENSION ARM NO. 1. THE PROBLEM COULD "RESULT IN THE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND A CRASH." *TR EACH TIME I CHECK WITH THEM THEY SAY THEY ARE NOT READY TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM AND JUST CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE I BELIEVE THAT IT IS VERY NEGLIGENT OF THEM TO SUGGEST THAT I CONTINUE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT ACCORDING TO THEM COULD "RESULT IN THE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND A CRASH." DOES THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION HAVE ANY POWER TO REQUIRE TOYOTA TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT ONCE OR FIND ANOTHER REMEDY FOR ME DRIVING AN UNSAFE CAR? *TR
TURNING FROM ONE STREET ONTO ANOTHER AT <5MPH A POP OCCURRED IN THE REAR OF VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY I FELT A DRAG AND STOPPED. ON THE STREET, EXITING VEHICLE I OBSERVED REAR DRIVER'S WHEEL TILTED SIGNIFICANTLY FROM THE VERTICAL. HAD VEHICLE REMOVED TO MY GARAGE WHERE REAR SUSPENSION SUPPORT WAS REPLACED. NOW JUMPING HOOPS TO GET REIMBURSEMENT FROM TOYOTA. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF RECALL ONLY TO FIND AFTER LOCAL REPAIR THAT TOYOTA WAS PLANNING A RECALL AND THEN RECEIVING TODAY (SEPT. 7, 2013) FROM NHTSA THE OFFICIAL RECALL NOTICE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 13V383) THE ISSUANCE FINALLY OF SUCH A RECALL. GIVEN THAT TOYOTA, OVER A YEAR AGO ("TOYOTA IS GOING TO RECALL SOME 778,000 VEHICLES SOLD IN THE UNITED STATES BECAUSE OF A REAR-SUSPENSION FAILURE. BUT NOT JUST YET. HAD THIS MALFUNCTION OCCURRED ON A MAJOR, HIGH-SPEED HIGHWAY, MORE LIKELY THAN NOT I WOULD NOT BE COMPOSING THIS MESSAGE TODAY.
WITH THE ENGINE ON, WHILE STOPPED AT TRAFFIC CONGESTION OR RED LIGHT, PEDAL BRAKES GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. IT IS AT THE MECHANIC FOR A WEEK NOW, TRYING TO REPAIR IT. BRAKE PUMP WAS REPLACED, STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE JUST EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKE AND IT DIDN'T WANT TO STOP. I ENDED UP BUMPING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AS I CONTINUED TO BRAKE. THE ENGINE WAS STILL SURGING AND WOULDN'T GO INTO REVERSE. I CALLED MOUNTAIN STATES TOYOTA HERE IN DENVER AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEMS TO THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE ON THE INTERNET. THE SERVICE MANAGER, OF COURSE, IS TELLING ME THAT IF THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE IT AND IT IS NOT SHOWING ERROR CODES(WHICH IT ISN'T) THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THEY CAN DO. I TOLD HIM I WANTED THE ACCELERATION SYSTEM THOROUGHLY INSPECTED...WHICH HE WANTS TO CHARGE ME FOR UNLESS THEY DO FIND AN ISSUE. BY WHAT I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET, IT IS USELESS TO TAKE IT IN AS TOYOTA IS IGNORING THE ISSUE, THINKING THEY FIXED IT WITH THE FLOOR MATS. I HAD THE FLOOR MATS REPLACED ON THAT RECALL WELL BEFORE THIS ISSUE CAME UP. I HAVE ALSO HAD MANY EXPERIENCES WITH THE ENGINE SURGING AND HESITATING WITH THE TACH SHOWING THE SURGE. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND CANNOT BE REPRODUCED, BUT IT IS GETTING WORSE OVER TIME. I NOW BELIEVE THAT THIS IS RELATED TO THE ACCELERATION ISSUE I DESCRIBED ABOVE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW AS IT COULD HAPPEN ON A BUSY STREET AND REALLY HURT SOMEONE AND ME. *TR
MY 8 MONTH OLD BABY WAS AUTO- LOCKED IN THE CAR ON AN 80 DEGREE SUNNY DAY! I DOUBLE CLICKED THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON MY CAR'S KEY FOB ON APPROACH, OPENED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND PUT MY CHILD IN THE CAR SEAT AND PUT MY PURSE (KEYS ON TOP) IN THE FLOOR WITH THE DIAPER BAG. ENTIRE CAR STILL UNLOCKED, I CLOSED THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND WALKED AROUND TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE TO GET IN. THE CAR BEEPED ALOUD BEFORE I COULD GRAB THE DOOR HANDLE TO GET IN, LOCKING ALL DOORS OF THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY THERE WAS A MECHANIC ON THE SAME STREET I WAS ON, BUT IT STILL TOOK 15 MINUTES START TO FINISH TO FINALLY GET MY CHILD OUT. UPON READING THE OWNER'S MANUAL, IT STATED THAT THERE IS A 30 SECOND TIMER FOR THE AUTOLOCK FEATURE THAT AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE IF A DOOR IS NOT OPENED IN THAT TIME AFTER BEING UNLOCKED. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THAT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THIS INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SAFETY SYSTEM WHICH ALLOWS THE AIRBAG TO INFLATE DURING A FRONTAL OR SIDE IMPACT CRASH. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. ON THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A MALFUNCTION IN THE SPIRAL CLOCK CABLE WHICH RESIDES UNDER THE STEERING WHEEL AND IS AN INTRICATE PART OF THE SAFETY, DRIVER SIDE AND OTHER AIRBAGS WITHIN THE VEHICLE. IF THIS PART WAS NOT REPLACED THEN I COULD BE FATALLY HURT OR KILLED IF THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT TOYOTA HAD DONE A RECALL ON THIS EXACT PART BUT ONLY ON THE TOYOTA TACOMA, THIS EFFECTED OVER 700,000 VEHICLES RECALLED FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED TOYOTA IMMEDIATELY AFTER HAVING THE REPAIRS DONE TO MY VEHICLE. I RECEIVED A MESSAGE BACK FROM THEM STATING THAT THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE PART PLUS THE TAX BUT NOT FOR THE LABOR CHARGES, THEY CLAIM THAT THE LABOR CHARGES WOULD NOT BE REIMBURSED DUE TO THE NUMBER OF MILES ON MY VEHICLE, BUT IF THEY HAD INCLUDED THE RAV4S IN THE RECALL THE LABOR CHARGES WOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED. I HAVE HAD MORE THAN 4 RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE DONE IN JUST THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. MY VEHICLE'S AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT WENT ON. RIGHT ABOUT THE SAME TIME, THERE WAS A RECALL FROM TOYOTA STATING THAT THERE COULD BE AN ISSUE WITH AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT TURNING ON. WHEN I CHECKED WITH TOYOTA DEALER, THEY SAID THE RECALL WAS FOR SOMETHING ELSE RELATED TO AIRBAG SENSOR AND THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE WITH CAR'S CLOCK SPRING AND IT HAS TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, I WAS WARNED THAT AIRBAGS WON'T WORK IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. HOW COULD AN INTERNAL PART STOP WORKING ALL OF A SUDDEN WHICH DOES NOT HAVE ANY USER INTERACTION. AND IF IT HAPPENED SO DUE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, TOYOTA SHOULD BE PROMPT TO OFFER A RECALL FOR SUCH A SAFETY INTENSIVE PART. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA RAV4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, SHE NOTICED A VIBRATION UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
