THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACK, VSC, ABS LIGHT ARE ALL ON. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND A CODE OF C1241 WHICH WAS THE SKID CONTROL ECU HAD SHORTED INTERNALLY AND IT WAS NECESSARY TO REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU AND RECALIBRATE ALSO BLEED BRAKE SYSTEM. AS YOU KNOW THE VEHICLE SKID CONTROL SYSTEM HELPS PROVIDE INTEGRATED CONTROL OF THE SYSTEMS SUCH AS ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, TRACTION CONTROL, ENGINE CONTROL, ETC. THIS SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLS THE BRAKES AND ENGINE TO HELP PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM SKIDDING WHEN CORNERING ON A SLIPPERY ROAD OR SURFACE OR OPERATING STEERING WHEEL ABRUPTLY. I AM LOOKING FOR SOME ASSISTANCE AS THE CHARGE FROM THE DEALER WAS QUOTED AT $2714.12. THIS ISSUE SEEMS LIKE A RECALL FEATURE. *TR
2002 SEQUOIA. NOW HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRUNK LATCH TWICE AS EACH TIME IT HAS RUSTED OUT AND WOULD NOT LATCH. VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. *TR
MY TOYOTA SEQUOIA VEHICLE SKID CONTROL LIGHTS LIGHT UP AT VARIOUS TIMES. I ALSO HEAR A GRINDING SOUND PERIODICALLY AND LOSE ALL ACCELERATION. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND THERE APPEARS TO BE A TREND WITH THESE VEHICLES. I AM CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND ACCELERATION/BRAKING. *TR
THERE ARE TWO ISSUES THAT I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT TO YOU. FIRST IS THE ABS BRAKING/VSC SYSTEM. SECOND IS THE EXCESSIVE RUST THROUGH OUT THE VEHICLE UNDER CARRIAGE/CHASSIS. FIRST, I HAVE A 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. AT 38,620 MILES, THE BRAKE, ABS, VSC ON, ANS VSC OFF LIGHTS COME ON WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED AND WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK IT THE DEALER, THOMPSON TOYOTA, 122 W SWAMP ROAD, DOYLESTOWN, PA 18901, TEL 215 245 9460. THEY STATED THAT IT IS THE REAR BRAKE PADS THAT BEING WORN OUT AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE PADS. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES ON THE ROAD (AT 38660 MILES), THE IDENTICAL SITUATION OCCURRED AGAIN: THE BRAKE, ABS, VSC ON, ANS VSC OFF LIGHTS COME ON WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED AND WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS 'ABS ECU' REPLACEMENT. FURTHERMORE, THE DEALER SAID THAT THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE SAME WARNING LIGHTS WON'T TAKE PLACE IN THE NEAR FUTURE BASED ON THE ABS ECU REPAIR. THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS QUOTED AT $2100.00. HOWEVER, THE MOST DISTURBING SAFETY FACTOR THE DEALER STATED IS THAT WHEN THE ABS AND VSC LIGHT ARE ON THERE IS NO ABS AND VSC FUNCTIONS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATIONAL STATUS. SECOND. I HAVE OWNED THREE TOYOTA IN THE PAST. THE SEQUOIA IS THE ONLY VEHICLE EXHIBITS EXCESSIVE RUST THROUGH OUT THE CHASSIS DESPITE REGULAR UNDER THE CARRIAGE WASHES AFTER EXPOSURE TO SALT DUE TO SNOWSTORMS. A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET DISCLOSED THAT THESE ARE COMMON ISSUES WITH THE SEQUOIA. FOR SAFETY AND FINANCIAL REASONS, NHTSA SHOULD ENCOURAGE TOYOTA TO ADDRESS/RECALL THE ABS/VSC DEFECT(S) AND EXCESSIVE CHASSIS RUST IN ALL THE SEQUOIA(S) ON THE ROAD TODAY. WHILE TURNING A CORNER AT AN INTERSECTION IN D POSITION, SUDDENLY THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE WHEELS WHILE PRESSING GAS PEDAL, ABS, VSC AND TRAC AND CEL LIGHTS CAME ON. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT, HAD THERE BEEN MORE TRAFFIC. AFTER PULLING TO THE SHOULDER WITH REMAINING SPEED OF VEHICLE, TURNED INTO P, THEN BACK INTO D, VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD WITH CRUNCHING NOISE WHILE PRESSING BRAKES FIRMLY! SHUT OFF VEHICLE, RESTARTED, THEN DROVE OK, BUT ABOVE MENTIONED LIGHTS STAYED ON FOR A AN HOUR. LATER THAT EVENING, THE WARNING LIGHTS TURNED BACK OFF TO NORMAL. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT WE HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT INVOLVING LOSS OF POWER IN COMBINATION WITH VSC TRAC AND CEL WARNING LIGHTS IMMEDIATELY AFTER. *TR
VSC TRAC,VSC OFF,ALL ON AT ONCE.OBD II CODES POINT TO SPEED SENSOR,BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH AND ABS COMPUTER MALFUNCTION. DEALER RECOMMENDS CHANGING BRAKE BOOSTER AND ABS COMPUTER SYSTEM. FROM THE AVAILABLE INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET THIS IS VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR FIRST GENERATION TOYOTA SEQUOIAS. THE ABS AND VSC MALFUNCTION CAN LONGER STOPPING DISTANCE,AND SWERVING UNDER EMERGENCY CIRCUMSTANCE AND SHOULD BE A SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA IN APRIL OF 2002. IN JANUARY OF 2004, I WAS ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE AND WHEN I WENT TO STOP MY VEHICLE, MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO GET INTO THE SHOULDER AND FINALLY GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED WITHOUT HITTING ANYONE. IT APPEARED TO ME THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER MIGHT HAVE MALFUNCTIONED. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, IT APPEARED AS THOUGH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BACK INTO ITS NORMAL POSITION BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY. DURING THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 12, 2010 THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED TWICE AND I WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN TWO SEPARATE ACCIDENTS. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND ONCE AGAIN THE COMPUTER AND OTHER INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE NOT SHOWING ANY PROBLEMS. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF SITTING THERE THE BRAKES RETURNED TO THEIR NORMAL POSITION JUST LIKE BEFORE. I THEN TOOK THE MECHANIC FOR A RIDE IN A BACK LOT OF THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE THEM FAIL ONCE AGAIN. AFTER THIS OCCURRENCE, THE BRAKES NEVER RETURNED TO THEIR NORMAL POSITIONS. I LEFT THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO INVESTIGATE. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE WERE NO KNOWN PROBLEMS IN THIS AREA AND HE SAID AFTER TALKING TO SEVERAL TOYOTA ENGINEERS THAT IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF THINGS: 1)MASTER CYLINDER 2)BRAKE BOOSTER 3)BRAKE ACTUATOR 4)COMPUTER THE MECHANIC AND THE ENGINEERS FELT THAT IS WAS PROBABLY THE BRAKE ACTUATOR SO I WENT AHEAD WITH THE REPAIR. BUT THEY WERE NOT 100% SURE THAT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM. BUT THEY DID AGREE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE BRAKES OF COURSE ARE WORKING. I TALKED TO SEVERAL OTHER MECHANICS AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT TOYOTA KNOWS THAT THESE ACTUATORS ARE BAD BUT ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THEY ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VSC/ECU COMPUTER MODULES ARE A DEFECT AS WELL. *TR
VSC, SEAT BELT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RANDOMLY STARTED COMING ON ABOUT 130,000 MI. TANSKY TOYOTA SERVICE DID BRAKE WORK, THE LIGHTS WERE OFF FOR SEVERAL WEEKS BUT THEN WOULD COME OFF AND ON. WE IGNORED IT BECAUSE WE HAD JUST HAD IT IN TO THE DEALER, IT SEEMED TO BE A NUISANCE IN AN OLDER VEHICLE BUT NOT DANGEROUS. ABOUT 165,000 MILES THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IN TRAFFIC. WE SPECULATED IT WAS THE LEVER THAT SHIFTS FROM 4WD TO 2WD. THE DEALER REPLACED THAT FOR $400, THE LIGHTS WERE OFF FOR 3 DAYS, THEN BACK ON. NOW, WE HAVE HAD MAYBE FIVE INSTANCES OF SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. THIS TOTAL LOSS OF POWER USUALLY OCCURS AFTER DRIVING 10 MINUTES LOCALLY, AND AFTER STOPPING AT A LIGHT. TURNING THE IGNITION OFF, AND RESTARTING FIXES THE ISSUE. TANSKY TOYOTA ACTS LIKE THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A THING, BUT WHEN I LOOK ONLINE EVERY TOYOTA BLOG IS FULL OF PEOPLE JUST LIKE ME. I KNOW IT IS AN OLD VEHICLE. I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME TO REALLY FIX THIS PROBLEM. WE HAVE STARTED ONLY USING THIS VEHICLE FOR NON-CRITICAL DRIVING LOCALLY. *TR
MY 2002 SEQUOIA HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE VSC LIGHTS GOING ON AND OFF. TODAY JANUARY 30, 2010 I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. I THINK IT IS BRAKE FLUID BURNING ON THE ENGINE. I PARKED THE SUV AND WILL CALL THE DEALER. IT HAS 98,000 MILES AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY WARRANTY LEFT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A USED 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA SUV WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN 2005. HE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE UNINTENTIONALLY WHILE IN THE PARK POSITION. THE RPMS WOULD IDLE EXTREMELY HIGH AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE. HE HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL HARD ENOUGH TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING FORWARD. THERE WERE NO RECALLS DESCRIBING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 99,500.
MAKES A GRINDING NOISE, BRAKES ON ONE SIDE AND PULLS TO ONE SIDE. SKID INDICATOR LIGHT, TRAC OFF LIGHT, AND VSC LIGHT ALL COME ON AND STAY ON. VEHICLE DECELERATES MOMENTARILY, THEN RESUMES NORMAL DRIVING. LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL YOU TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA LIMITED THAT HAS AN ERROR MESSAGE ON SAFETY EQUIPMENT. VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (VSC) AND ABS (ANTI-LOCK-BRAKE) SYSTEM LIGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY ON, CAUSING ME CONCERN. I SEE TOYOTA INITIATED A RECALL ON THE 2003 MODEL FOR THIS CONCERN, YET NOT ON MY MODEL YEAR? I SEE NUMEROUS BLOGS WITH THIS CONCERN AS I SEARCH FOR SOLUTIONS. THIS WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE VEHICLE THAT I PURCHASED DUE TO THE REPUTATION OF THIS COMPANY FOR BUILDING SAFE AUTOMOBILES, I AM DISAPPOINTED IN TOYOTA'S LACK OF RESPONSE. 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA LIMITED 4WD. AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING AFTER 71,000 MILES. AS A RESULT, THE DEFROSTER DOES NOT WORK. WINDSHIELD AND SIDE MIRRORS FOG UP DURING COLD/RAIN. CANNOT SEE CAUSING DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. HAVE TO OPEN WINDOWS IN SNOW/RAIN/COLD. NEED NEW AIR COMPRESSOR. TOYOTA SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THE DEFECTIVE COMPRESSORS BUT I AM RESPONSIBLE TO REPLACE AT A COST OF OVER $3,000. I FEEL THE COMPRESSOR SHOULD NOT HAVE BROKEN AFTER SO FEW MILES AND TOYOTA HAS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN OUT THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. MANY, MANY OTHERS ONLINE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME DEFECTIVE COMPRESSOR. I FEEL TOYOTA SHOULD PAY FOR ALL OR PART OF THE REPAIR ON A $45,000 TRUCK THAT HAS SO FEW MILES. *TR
ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA THAT HAS HAD 3 DOOR HANDLES REPLACE IN THE LAST YEAR. ALL THREE BROKE FROM INSIDE, MAKING IT NECESSARY TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE REAR CARGO DOOR HANDLE BROKE THIS YEAR AND I HAVE HAD THE REAR WINDOW MOTOR REPLACED. THE REAR WINDOW CONSTANTLY GOES OFF TRACK AND HAS TO BE FIXED FOR IT TO OPEN AGAIN. I AM HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS TOYOTA. I HAD GAS PEDAL AND BRAKE ISSUES THE FIRST YEAR I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. IT IS THE EXACT ISSUES THE COMPANY IS RECALLING FOR OTHER MODELS. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT I AM A WOMAN WHO DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THIS LARGE OF A VEHICLE. STILL NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE AND YET I'VE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES! *TR
I OWN A 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA SR5 AND HAVE HAD A COUPLE NEAR ACCIDENTS IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS DUE TO A MAJOR MALFUNCTION WITH THE SKID CONTROL SENSOR AND BRAKING COMPUTER. THE FIRST INSTANCE WAS WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70+ MPH. THE SYMPTOMS ARE THAT THE BRAKES PULSATE FROM RIGHT TO LEFT REPEATEDLY, WHILE I'M NOT BRAKING. THE CAR SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND IS DIFFICULT TO KEEP UNDER CONTROL. I HAVE BEEN TO THE LOCAL VERO BEACH, FLORIDA TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY RECALIBRATED THE SYSTEM ABOUT A MONTH AGO. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND IS APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE SKID CONTROL ECU IS FAULTY AND SEEMS TO BE VERY COMMON ON CONSUMER CHAT FORUMS I'VE FOUND ONLINE. THE ESTIMATE I RECEIVED TODAY FROM TOYOTA WAS IN EXCESS OF $3,000 AND STILL DOESN'T GUARANTEE A PROPER REPAIR. IT SEEMS THAT THIS PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN A CAUSE FOR A RECALL YEARS AGO, BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO DATE TO MY KNOWLEDGE. I'M CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY AND FELT THAT YOUR FIRM NEEDS TO BE MADE AWARE OF MY SITUATION AND MANY OTHER TOYOTA SEQUOIA OWNERS FROM WHAT I CAN TELL. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD NOT LAST MORE THAN 15 SECONDS BEFORE CORRECTING ITSELF. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CONTACT PREVIOUSLY NOTICED THAT THE VCS LIGHT WOULD APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 127,000. UPDATED 01/05/10 *BF THE DEALER DETERMINED AN AFTERMARKET WIRING HARNESS FOR THE T.V, DVD AND VCR WAS INCORRECTLY ROUTED THROUGH THE STEERING COLUMN AND ATTACHED TO THE VSC AND STEERING POSITION SYSTEM SENSOR WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE WIRING WAS RE-ROUTED AND THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED. THE ORIGINAL DEALER INSTALLED THE WIRING HARNESS INCORRECTLY IN 2002. UPDATED 01/06/10*JB
I OWNED A 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA, THERE ARE TIMES WHEN ENTERING A ROADWAY OR ON AN HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER DUE TO THE VSC, ABS TRAC WARNING LIGHTS AND ENGINE LIGHT, THESE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS MODEL ALSO, THIS POSES A VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY, I FIND THAT THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER WHEN GOING THROUGH A BUMPY ROAD. I HAVE TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID ITS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONSUMER TO GET THIS FIX, I FOUND THAT ALOT OF CUSTOMER ON THE INTERNET HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. TOYOTA SHOULD FIX THIS PROBLEM ALSO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. THE CONTACT STATED THE VSC, VSC-OFF, EMERGENCY BRAKE, AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE SPORADICALLY WHEN SITTING IDLE AT A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER ANALYSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 116,000.
SIGNIFICANT RUST ON FRAME AND UNDERBODY OF 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA HAS BEEN IN EVIDENCE DURING THE LAST 3-4 YEARS. RUST IS SPREADING TO BODY PANELS AS WELL. MECHANIC COMMENTS REGULARLY ABOUT UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF RUST. *TR
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, MY CAR "COLLAPSED". I WAS ABLE TO GLIDE TO THE CENTER MEDIAN AND STOP. AFTER TOWING MY CAR TO THE DEALER, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BALL JOINT FAILED (THE BALL JOINT HAD BEEN RECALLED). I DID NOT RECEIVE THE RECALL NOTICES. WHILE TOYOTA IS WILLING TO REPAIR THE RECALLED ITEM, THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO COVER THE COST OF THE RELATED DAMAGE WHICH WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF THE BALL JOINT DID NOT FAIL. AS AN OWNER OF 5 TOYOTAS, WE FEEL THAT TOYOTA SHOULD COVER THE SUBSEQUENT DAMAGE AND THE COST OF THE RENTAL CAR SINCE IT TOOK THEM OVER ONE MONTH TO CONTACT US WITH THEIR ANSWER. *TR
WRECK AVOIDED BY GOOD DRIVING, BUT THIS IS THE COMPLAINT: TRAC LIGHT/VSC LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD . WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR JERKS TO THE RIGHT AND A GRINDING NOISE SOUNDING LIKE THE CAR IS LOCKED UP. THE JERKING TOOK ME ACROSS THE LINE IN THE ROAD JUST MISSING ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL BEFORE HITTING OTHER CAR. THIS IS A DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION AND I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE IS NO RECALLS FOR THIS, AFTER SEEING THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHERS HAVING THIS SAME OCCURRENCE. IT HAPPENED 3 TIMES THIS WEEKEND, TWICE WHILE GOING AT A SLOW RATE, BUT THIS ONE MENTIONED ABOVE I WAS TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 ON THE TURNPIKE. *TR

SPOKE WITH MR. RICHARD NEWMAN-SERVICE MANAGER AT FRONTIER TOYOTA IN CALIFORNIA ON 3/13/10 REGARDING RECENT ISSUES WITH THE GAS TANK SENSOR ON OUR 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA. WE HAVE A PHANTOM PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE READING NO GAS WHILE OUR MILEAGE COUNTER INDICATES LARGE MILEAGE LEAPS TAKEN WHILE NOT DRIVING HARDLY ANY MILEAGE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN SPORADIC OVER THE SEVERAL MONTHS. MR. NEWMAN STATED TOYOTA HAS BEEN OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL YEAR FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND WHEN WE TOLD HIM THAT TOYOTA REFUSED TO FIX IT WHEN WE FIRST BROUGHT IT TO THEIR ATTENTION WHEN IT FIRST OCCURRED AND WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $600.00 TO REMOVE THE TANK AND FIX THE PROBLEM. MR.NEWMAN WAS ASKED BY US WHY TOYOTA NEVER ISSUED A RECALL OR NOTICE FOR THIS PARTICULAR MAKE AND MODEL. HIS RESPONSE WAS THAT HE WAS ONLY AWARE THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS ALWAYS EXISITED FOR THIS 2002 SEQUIOA AND ADVISED US TO CONTACT YOUR AGENCY WITH REGARDS TO ANOTHER ELECTRONIC PROBLEM EXISITING WITH ANOTHER TOYOTA PRODUCT. VSC, ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND BRAKE WARNING INSTRUMENT LIGHTS ON. ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL AND VSC ARE INOPERABLE DUE TO A COMPUTER MALFUNCTION. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE WITH FIRST GENERATION SEQUOIAS. MY SPECIFIC CODES ARE C1241 AND C1203. TOYOTA TOLD ME I WILL NEED A NEW COMPUTER TO CONTROLS THOSE SYSTEMS AT A 921 DOLLAR EXPENSE. THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN ONGOING SINCE 2009.

QUOTES FOR THIS ARE BETWEEN $1,500 AND $2,500. IN JULY OF LAST YEAR, MY 2002 TOYOTA SEQUOIA EXPERIENCED CAR TROUBLE. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED 3 MAJOR PROBLEMS. FIRST, THE REAR WINDOW ON THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY OPEN ALL BY ITSELF. THIS SELF OPENING WOULD OCCUR AT NUMEROUS TIMES. THE WINDOW WOULD OPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN, WHEN IT WAS STATIONARY OR EVEN WHILE IT WAS UNOCCUPIED. THE SCARIEST HOWEVER, WAS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. FORTUNATELY FOR ME AND MY FAMILY NO ONE WAS INJURED. THE SECOND MAJOR PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH THE DOOR LOCKS. THE LOCKS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK THEMSELVES REPEATEDLY WITHOUT ANYONE TOUCHING THEM. THIS LOCKING/UNLOCKING WOULD AGAIN TAKE PLACE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN, STATIONARY OR EVEN UNOCCUPIED. THE LAST COMPLAINT IS THAT THE GAS GAUGE WILL DROP TO EMPTY WITHOUT ANY REASON SO THERE ARE MANY TIMES THAT I DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH GASOLINE I HAVE LEFT IN THE TANK.
